Turtle Bay Park/Museum is great for a nice little day out for ages 1 to 10, families or the causal day out.The Museum area:Tickets are around -$18 per adult$14 for kidsFree for kids 3 & under.Easy to park, no fee.Small Cafe/store for food/drinks.*masks are required indoors* even if its not a law.Across the Sun Dial Bridge, youll find a garden trial and bike and walk paths.Times are usually 8am to 5pm.
Went during COVID. $20 for adults. $14 for child. We drove from Sacramento and it was NOT WORTH IT in our opinion. Both indoor and outdoor exhibits were sparce, zoo animals were very sad looking. 1 or 2 animals in small enclosures: Racoon, Raven, foxes, badger.Positive: theres a playground with fun activities for younger kids. (But not worth the entrance fee). The bird exhibit was cute. The SUNDIAL BRIDGE which is located right before u enter the exhibits was pretty and calm and its FREE. This was nice.
Reason why I left three star rating was because not only were half the exhibits closed the Butterfly House is seasonal so thats not pertaining to this, but the animals in the cages literally looked miserable they just look like they wanted to get out the cages were so small I dont even know how a small cat would want to be living in these cages let alone a big Badger or a raccoon for a Bobcat. I mean the animals just literally looks like they wanted to get out. I dont believe animals should be in cages like this its really sad if an animal is hurt or injured let it survive in the wild like its naturally supposed to thats called life.
Very cool museum and store. May not be worth $50 for the 3 of us but I understand it is a form of donation. Great exhibits. Cool live river aquarium. We got to see feeding time for the Beaver. Coffee was great in the store. Staff was better in the museum and coffee side of the store. Gift shop side wasnt friendly and didnt greet us. For the price and how fee people were there a friendly greeting would have been nice. The walk across the bridge and stroll through the arboretum and botanical gardens was a highlight. Worth a visit but should have been $30 max.
It was nice to entertain the 5 and 6 yr old for a couple hours. Best part is the playground and the lorakeets. Lots of closed exhibits because of COVID sadly and the wild animal part well...we skipped. Bit pricey for all that - the place needs love...and we all need COVID to end.
Great place!! Even though the shops were all closed because we came late, the bridge was beautiful and futuristic!
We had so much fun until we went to the animal show where the guy that was setting ppl tried to tell my son that he couldnt take his wheelchair inside, i was like what he told me that he could wheel in and transfer to one of the seats and then i had to push his chair back up to the entrance. After I told him I would sue for discrimination against the handicap he said whell thats the rules, i then told him to let me talk to the manager and then he let us go in with the wheelchair, my son was so upset. I still complained on our way out.
Great place to spend the weekend. Kids will enjoy the exhibits, the animal show and especially the playground. Me, I enjoyed the coffee and the relaxing ambiance.
Really awesome to know we have such a cool place for famlies here in the North State! I have lived all over from the deep south to far north even out of the Country! I have experienced some really awesome places with my Family and turtle bay is now added to the list. If you happen to visit make sure to go with plenty of time to explore the entire set up. My favorite day to go is Saturday because at 2pm they have a live animal show!! Also if you visit I have to recommend you also explore sundial bridge as well, the walk across the bridge is breath taking and if you take the trails which I highly recommend after crossing over the bridge, going through the nursery is an awesome side route to the already incredible trails! Its such a beautiful walk! I traveled about an hour and a half to go here and we loved it so much we purchased a membership and have been twice in the same month as purchasing our membership. Take the trip you will be glad you did this place is really a hidden treasure!
The museum was great. But the park was amazing!
So great to have Turtle Bay open again! I saw several different employees sanitizing everything. A great break from the heat and the kiddos love it!
Great educational spot to bring the family. They have some cool animals and play structures.
We really enjoyed the bridge and botanical gardens. A really great spot to spend a couple of hours.
Fun place to visit with the kiddos, the park was just renovated and have a nice outdoor area/playground addition.
Great park for kids and adults! If you like to explore vegetation from different areas of the world then go there! We had some activity with the kids (for example, find the turtle in the Mosaic) and some plants smelling and tasting.I would recommend this place for all ages.#LKTG
Need to come back and spend more time enjoying all exhibits and the free shows. The Parrot enclosure was super awesome. Didnt get to explore much and really watch the animals(kids got too hot). But well be back once its a bit more cooler.
Surprisingly yet Refreshingly cold water in the Sacramento River. The water here it’s very clear compared to down in the city of Sacramento. Great stop.
At Turtle Bay, they request that you get your tickets online so that they can keep the amount of visitors per the Covid guidelines. My granddaughter was in town for the week. We had a great time. You are always greeted by a staff worker with a friendly disposition and this time was no exception. The reason I only gave three stars is because I visit here often with several of my grandkids and altho we always have a great time, I am disappointed with the fact that every time we go, some part of it is always closed. The butterfly exhibit has been empty the last two times I have been there. This past time the animal shows were not being done.So let me just say that as an adult I was disappointed, but my grandkids always have a good time.
It is good, but not great.. liked the parrot petting and butterfly cage.. the animal show is ok, but good for a small town.. cost $16..
Nice view of the bridge. Handy tables available with disinfectant spray at hand.
Good place for visiting with kids
Great place for kids and adults to enjoy the beautiful outdoor scenery here in Redding. Sunset is the perfect time to visit.
This place for the fascinating to me it was really together well
The sundial bridge and the surrounding gardens are wonderful. There are also many trails. The museum was small but there is a lot to look at. It is definitely worth a visit
Beautiful place to take a walk, good restaurants too.
Grand kids love this place. Would recommend to everyone.
Took my granddaughter before Covid19 closing and see loved it. Looking forward to the re-opening and will take her as much as possible. Fun and learning day for the both of us.
Wonderful place to bring children to learn and interact with a lot of the exhibits the animal and reptile shows are amazing..
This place was amazing! The museum side is geared more for children. But was fun for adults as well. The gardens which are free were absolutely amazing miles and miles of trails to walk through. We went in the Winter and it was still beautiful. Cant wait to come in the summer.
Terrific family outing along the beautiful Sacramento River
What a beautiful park with miles of multi use trails
Fun day, but there were really not a lot of turtles.
Such a fun place for kids and adults alike.
What a rip off, the front desk talked the place up. We paid 50 bucks to enter and once we had finished seeing all there was, which wasnt much at all i felt like i was robbed. Family if three, worth 25 bucks at best.
Easy to get to. Workers were nice
Been here a few times with the kiddos. They love it and there is always something new to discover.
We went to see the turtle exhibit, but we missed it ️. It was national turtle day, so it was a special one day exhibit. The kids didnt even notice since there are other things to do. They enjoyed the water area and the climbing tower with the giant slide.
One of the most unique bridges that I have been on. Beautiful setting.
Great park for short walk and seeing some wonderful flowers and nature. Right in the midst of town easy to get to, nice wide well kept trails. Good place to hang out or have a picnic.
Beautiful park with nicely paved paths for leisure walking and biking
Awesome place with so many things to do and explore. With plenty of fishing and wildlife
Lots of fun for all ages! Will definately be back.
We spent all day here. The kids loved the short zipline and all the playgrounds. The animal show was amazing. The trainers let the animals show off being as natural as possible. We arrived the day before and walked the gardens just past the sundial bridge. Half the people enjoying this bridge in Redding, California were international! An amazing place to come in the evening to listen to local instruments playing.
Beautiful views and very clean. Great for bike rides or walking. Bridge is a bit slippery in the rain, but still a fun place to go to.
A great family venue. You can even zip line. The animal area is small and quaint. Its well done. Theres a parrot park where you can feed them for a dollar.
Absolutely wonderful a great experience for kids and adults alike!!!
Love this park :) The river is so gorgeous. Me and my family enjoy coming here, especially to relax.
Only issue was mask policy not enforced. Majority of gusts walk in the door with a mask and then remove
Cool place to see the river and explore the Arboreteum. I didnt go into the actual museum but that looked good too. It was packed so Id like to go again someday when its less busy. There was a stand selling Italian ice across sundial bridge and lots of walking trails, most seemed paved and good for bikes or strollers. Park facilities all seemed well kept up and not sure if the quarry remains are actually part of the park, but they are really cool to check out. Signs and pictures showing how Shasta Dam was made and the rock was transported across the town and river on belts. There is plenty to do and see here and parking was not too bad. All the close spaces were filled before noon but I could still park in a farther lot which was nearly empty.
Very chill vibe with a nice lil cafe next to the bridge
This is a great place for kids. The bird exhibit is not to be missed, as the birds fly and land on you. Bring a few dollar bills to buy nectar cups for more fun.My toddler had a great time and was particularly fond of the aquarium portion, playground, and outdoor hands-on exhibit with the flowing water than can be damned.
This place was educational and fun. There were interactive areas that were hands on. There were facts about science, history and nature that were pretty interesting. There was even an aquarium tank that reminded me of a mini Monterey bay aquarium. Another section taught you about caves and limestone. The exhibit they had going on was about dinosaurs which was why we went, Im a dino fan. Its not a huge place but its large enough to walk around and learn something new. The little ones would have fun. The part that we did not enjoy seeing was the animals in tiny enclosures. It was sad to see birds that were born to soar the sky, only dreaming of another day when they could fly again. They looked depressed. The cages werent really tall enough to fly around. Most animals were alone and didnt have a partner either. This part was held outside the exploratory. It seemed the little colorful birds got more attention because they bring in money. You pay one dollar to feed the colorful birds nectar from a tiny tablespoon sized cup. The sundial outside was beautiful and amazing to see such a structure. The river is right under so you can walk across the bridge and soak your feet in cold river water which is nice on a hot day. Overall this place has its pros but also some cons.
Was able to perform some work here. Loved exploring as a guest, but the behind the scenes is amazing. Everything that goes into making this place tick.
There are so many things to do at Turtle Bay that I still am finding new things after years of visiting.
Really impressed with the overall ambiance, great exhibits, and I love the local focus. The coffee shop is small but the drinks are excellent. Well maintained and the animals were great!
The Polish n the Armol All for tires was lame very hit n miss seems like it rushes u thru so fast theres No Way n can do a good job
Despite the bad weather we thoroughly enjoyed this museum/exploratorium, great displays, nice grounds and location, we really would have enjoyed it better had we more time on our hands. Really nothing to fault about this family attraction. Thank you for your efforts and good work. Very recommended for your family outing in Redding CA.
Great place to ride your bike to and relax and have a cold drink and peddle on.
A good place for family outings.
If you love being outside and exploring, this is a MUST! Had a blast exploring with the kids. The sundial bridge was a beautiful site and exploring the garden with the kids was a fun experience. The kids enjoyed seeing the new plants...and even the ones they already knew!
My kiddos loved it here. We were there for 3+ hours and had a blast!
Always fun! Lots to enjoy with the family and a great walk. If people could learn to follow the golden rule, itd be perfect. The exhibits are interesting and entertaining, if a little bland compared to larger venues. The gardens are lovely and fun to walk. Go all the way to the turtle pond for a real treat during warm weather, its brim-full of turtles sunning themselves! Avoid the area under the sundial bridge, between the heavy cigarette smokers and the transients, you dont want to take your kids down there. Have fun!
Great place to visit. Perfect for family fun. Sundial bridge is right next to it with a botanical garden as well. We loved it. And you can feed the birds for a dollar. Lol
Beautiful park along the Sacramento River!
Beautiful river views from the Sundial Bridge, and gorgeous walks through the park teeming with wildlife. We enjoyed our morning and evening dog walks along the river bank, listening to the hundreds of birds bathing in the water
Great place to spend the afternoon & wear the kids out. Had fun in the parrot exhibit
Plenty of trails with scenic views.
Large open space to run and explore.Nice bridge and a garden that you should check out. Also they have a museum and a cafe.Must visit if you are in the area.
My son loves going here its clean and workers are friendly
Great for a outing, beautiful trails, views neat soviner store, coffee shop. A must see.
Love TB! Its a great place for kids year-round. The indoor exhibits are great and engaging and the outdoor area is even better. Kids will get wet at the flume so be prepared. The bird house and butterfly tent are incredible and very memorable. The Sundail Bridge just outside is awesome as well. A whole days of activities in one spot.
Great place for the fur babies. Alot of walking trails. Pavement of course. Sometimes you see deer.
Love walking this bridge! On this visit the Sacramento River was overflowing its banks. The wild flowers were starting to bloom and the sun made a special appearance!
This place was soooooo cool. Enjoyed every bit of it. So many cool things and lots of different things to entertain everyone in the family.
Beautiful and informative. The sundial bridge is amazing. We drove up from Santa Cruz to experience the solar eclipse.
Fun place for kids and family. I only gave 4 stars because of the price. I think they need to continue their upgrades which I know they will as they have done in the past through the years. :)
Lovely area. Wonderful view of the rushing river. The bridge at night is just a gorgeous sight to behold.
Really cool place to explore
We go every year and every year theres something new and exciting. The gardens are refreshing and pleasant and the park has wonderful animals and new exhibits all the time you wont ever have the same experience going!
The Sundial bridge is one of the key attractions within the park
Great place to bring the kids or just enjoy for yourself! Awesome drinks. Also a great place to play pokemon go.
I enjoyed the trails butterflies and frogs . The Gardens are beautiful and love love love
Excellent place decent price for what is there and all the activities. My kids 6 and 7 had a lot of fun and was a great learning experience! Lots of information to take in.
One of my favorite N. California spots. Redding is a hidden gem. Stop by and spend some time here...very peaceful.
Awesome experience from blythe California
Great place to take the kids. The animal show and feeding the birds are the best parts! But there is so much more!
This is a great place to bring children and visitors to our area. The animal show is fun and educational. The grounds are clean and well kept with updates and expansion.
Really put together well. The people of Redding, California have a real gem.
Really great place to bring your kid, I have a three year old and he absolutely loves this place, he has been 5-6 times now, and he still likes going back. I highly recommend this place.
We were glad to get in for their discounted price for the last hour. We didnt get to see it all, but it was worth the $13 we paid to get to be there for 60 minutes.
Great trails with beautiful views! Something for everyone!
Park is beautiful.Kids enjoy it.It’s providing a good view and near our hotel (walking distance).Very recommended for a visit
Fun place to take the kids! Bought the annual pass and cant wait to go back and explore more
Probably the best family destination in Redding and its getting better as the continue to expand yearly. Live shows, animals, exploration zones. Had a family pass for 5 years and worth every penny.
Very nice place to go spend some with the kiddos. Plenty to see inside and fun activities. Also enjoy a nice selection of animals in the wildlife walk. So cool that the foxes were active and walking around the day we dropped by! They are in the process of getting new areas installed for younger children and youth. Looks like it should be completed fairly soon. Looking forward to it!
Turtle Bay Exploration Park is a fun, relaxed place to visit and spend the day with the family. Be sure to bring lots of 1 dollar bills to feed the Lorikeets! It is such fun! Lots of fun play spaces for kids. Sand area, water play, cool zipline, and playground equipment. There is an indoor exploration area when you first enter with fun, interactive exhibits. You can explore the Sundail Bridge afterwards or walk around the botanic garden. Small coffee and snack shop nearby to refuel.
What a wonderful hidden little gem in such a beautiful location. The volunteers were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the care and habitats of all the animals in their charge.
Went out on a scooter ride with my love and it has been the most beautiful day ever.
