Very pretty a little sad you cant go to the island you need a reservation to go. Bathrooms are well maintained and it looks like a great place to celebrate a birthday party! Over by the bathrooms the had a really cool community bike repair station. Ill be coming back when I come to Rapid city!

A great place to visit when staying in Rapid City. This park is awesome with some really amazing views. A great location for picnic or a walk or even just to relax the day away. My family and I always visit this park when we vacation in Rapid City. You can also rent paddle boats from the lodge and go around the lake.

Absolutely LOVE he dog park here, I bring my pup here all the time. It’s a beautiful nature walk and not far from central Rapid if you need to get away for a bit. Makes for a great picnic spot as well, just watch out for the dogs running around!

Great campground and cabins. On small lake closer to Rapid City and convenient to Black Hills attractions.

This is a really cool area. Great place to walk your dog or to just go for a walk. I really liked watching the bald eagle flying around.

Great little park in the city. There were lots of picnic shelters inside the park. There is a picnic area that’s accessed from outside the park above the dam that is quiet for those that want to find an option without the people around. We had breakfast up there and walked the pups on the other side. Great stop!

We love the park. When we come to Rapid City to camp we visit the park to fish and let the younger kids play on the play set. Today, the kids were feeding bread to the geese.

Very nice park. Several playgrounds, picnic shelters, etc. The water system all the way around the park with the little ponds have fish and ducks in them. Ive seen people fishing in there, not sure if theyre supposed to be or not. Very enjoyable place to spend an afternoon.

Beautiful park!!!! Go!!! My boys fished at the little ponds and caught a ton of trout. Good sized too! Its in a beautiful location with several playgrounds. Best part? Its free!! And our kids loved it!

It is very peaceful. What I dont like is there isnt enough shade close to the kiddo play areas so they could enjoy playing there any time of the day. I understand not having trees is the play areas but why not put up some sort of awning/tarp over some of the areas.

I loved it! I had great experience! Came out for fathers day free fishing!

This park is huge, landscaped, clean, restrooms, pavilions, paved walking and riding paths, playgrounds, as well as a beautiful body of water called Canyon Lake. Well worth stopping anywhere around this huge park/lake and enjoy the weather, exercise, play, and have fun!!!

Stranded in Rapid City during a Thanksgiving blizzard. Visited the park while waiting for the roads to clear. Great in 6-8 inches of snow. Hope to stop again in a different season.

Beautiful, quiet and love the trees and water. Wish it had an infant playground but still fun to take toys and play in the grass.

Its awesome place with lots of picnic places and benches and three playgrounds for children and the small waterfall,we can stand in the water and people can do fishing.

This is a beautiful park, the weather is perfect, and is great for walking / running / biking.I wish there were reasonable bike rentals nearby. $30 a Day is ridiculous. How about $30 a week?

Canyon Lake Park is mostly always clean and upkept and the playgrounds are clean. My family and I always have fun here.

It was ok. Nice by the creek. Its kind of disappointing that no shelters were first come first serve...all needed reservation and you arenrequired to have reciept to occupy even if no one rented it..seems not piblic park like but oh well i dont live there.

This is a wonderful park located within city limits so its not a long drive. The lake is beautiful, spralling with wildlife. You can hike along the creek on the nature walk or head out to the gazebo to marvel at the scenery with water surrounding on 3 sides. A great way to get outdoors on a nice day in Rapid City.

Love visiting this park. Geese are mostly gone through and the back part is flooded this year. But still, its a beautiful park!

I rented a picnic shelter here for our office BBQ. Super easy to reserve and they sent me all the info by email. The shelter needed a good spray down; it was very dirty. Other than that the event went well. We had just enough room for everyone (about 35 people). Nice grassy area nearby for yard games.

We took our Son and Daughter in law and Granddaughter to the park today and had a blast!

This park has improved greatly in the last 30 years! Always beautifully maintained and so relaxing. Fun for every age...from picnics to walking and paddle boating. The fishing is good also, but the water is pretty murky from all the rain. So lucky to have such a beautiful place right in town!

This park is beautiful! I love the individual covered areas and green grass. We were concerned with mosquitoes and brought spray and candles just in case. However to our surprise we did not have any issues. It was a nice day in the park!

Very well maintained, this is a great park! Beautiful scenery, good fishing, fantastic place to go for a walk or run, a nice play area for kids, and plenty of space for large groups.Just remember this park is outside in nature where there are deer, geese, and other animals and those animals are really bad at cleaning up after themselves when they poop. I just figured I would add that so people will be prepared and maybe they will stop giving lower ratings because there are water fowl and deer poop at a lake/outdoor recreation park.

Very clean and taken care of. A lot of room and wasnt crowded when we were there. There are fish docks, paddle boats to rent, fly fishing areas, playground and more! We will definitely be here more!

This place is in an oasis in the middle of the city. You can BBQ here, bring the kids theres play areas, go fishing in the lake, even have weddings at the Gazebo Island, with reservations of course. Theres so much to do here with walking trails, walk your dogs, walk your kids, I just sat and listened to the Rippling water.

Great view with nice atmosphere. If you want to have fun with your family or friends on weekend. This is the place for you. Don’t forget to bring foods and stuffs because they don’t sell any of them.

If you dont know about it definitely check it out, a place you can go fishing kayaking even rent paddle boats oh, all right in town. Know motorized vessels including trolling motors. Also it is definitely a weed infested lake. A few years back they were going to do a special dredging while they had the lake empty doing a Spillway repair and update but unfortunately it was too wet to season and they had to scrap that plan and go with a different dredge plan after the lake was filled. Didnt seem like it had a great effect.?

Canyon Lake Park is one of my favorite places to walk. The path all around makes it easy! My wife and I also live to stop near the creek and listen to the water. Other awesome things are the open spaces for picnics and gatherings, playgrounds for the kids, swings for the kids at heart (shoe throwing contest anyone?), and shelters for groups. Thats not even mentioning the lake, the bridge, the fishing, the boat rentals. Love me some Rapid City parks!

Fantastic park to go to. If youre looking for a nice place to sit down and have a picnic or go for a long walk theres nothing better than walking around the lake, between the ponds and next to the streams. Plenty of picnic tables and gazebos to sit down and enjoy a nice day at. Best city park Ive ever been to.

Great spot to hang out. If you like to fish, run, have a picnic, or relax, this is a good place for that. It is located near the entrance to the Black Hills.
