Astonishing is rarely used lightly. And in this case its appropriate not only for the friendly staff, the amazing gifts, and true magic art rather Astonishing is that the town lives up to the pride I felt buying a belt, some works of art, a couple gifts for someone special, and ofcourse some vanity items for myself. Id love to describe the vibrant handcrafted colorful Native art but it speaks volumes on its own. Theres a Zen sand window that I missed. Ill have to go back. Culture, pride, and purpose.. plus some magic rugs on the second floor.

Lots of beautiful artwork to admire. Great place to visit as a destination when driving through Rapid City. Interesting mix of bookstore, touristy trinkets and authentic Native American artwork. This wasnt a place I felt totally comfortable taking photos, although I didnt ask any employees if that was allowed. But I nonetheless recommend travelers visit.

This place has the largest selection of Native American crafts and artifacts in town. It’s worth visiting due to its variety and authenticity. Things could be costly, but that’s how Native Americans make a living. You can always buy cheaper stuff from eBay, but they could be made somewhere else, especially nothing about the real Sioux people. So, if you like Native American stuff, stick to the real thing.

While the selection of various Native American art and related paraphernalia is great, the prices are INSANE. As in mouth-dropping-open insane. I had planned on splurging a bit to get something or things here, but artwork was double or triple what we saw elsewhere in SD for similar products. Looked around for awhile but left without buying anything. Disappointing.

So many things to see. Be ready to spend some time here. There are many fantastic items in this store. Very high end items. Many are hand made and unique to the Black Hills area. Half or more of the the store is devoted to Native American arts. Very large selection of glass beads. Make sure that as you go through the store that make your way to the Sioux Trading post. I will definitely go back.

Take the time to go here, you will not be disappointed one bit. The many different sections of the establishment are filled with wonderful objects of art and clothing. The book section is without a doubt one of the best seen concerning the Dakotas and Native American culture. The staff is more than knowledgeable, is willing to help you to and answer your questions.

This is so much more than a gift shop. The store is filled with Native American made or Native American inspired items. Wearable art or art that can be enjoyed for years to come. There is a beautiful bead library upstairs and bead gallery downstairs in the back of the store with hundreds of colors to select fromSo many affordable gift or personal use items throughout the store. I plan on making a second trip before we leave the area. The staff were all friendly and knowledgeable.

Prairie Edge is Rapid Citys best fine art gallery. They are a gallery member of Artists of the Black Hills and display several member artists as well as hosting an annual small works show for ABH during the holiday season. Serious art art lovers go to Prairie Edge to buy the best our region has to offer.

What a wonderful place to spend time. We were searching for true Native American made items and we got that and much more. The one cashier women was so knowledgeable and so very friendly (they all were), but we kept going back to her to ask questions. I told her I was looking for a gift for my mother and gave her a little bit of information and she helped me stay in my price range and find the perfect gift. She even wrapped it well to help travel safely in one piece. I loved shopping while listening to the native music too. Thank you to Prairie Edge Trading Company. This stop made our trip even better.

Christy and Thomas were amazing in showing me around. There is 3 levels and the best that I would suggest is The bead Library. All beads original and the last of their kind. Along with the local made items that take up the majority of the store. This place is one to stop inside should you make your way to rapid city. Want something original and locally supported? Very beautiful place to see. I recommend coming to this place there is so much to see from beautiful paintings, sculptures, blankets, knifes, wallets, and a lot more. The reason why I gave it 2 stars was because of the disrespectful, rude, impolite associate that was at the front. Maybe it was a bad day for her but as a Army Veteran I will not be talked down to or made feel like Im stupid. No one should especially when you are the customer.

Our motorcycle club has a National Run in Rapid City now and then. My husband and I are always soooo happy when that happens. Prairies Edge is STELLAR! Yes, it has everything. This is why we know its the best. On a personal level, my husband, being Cheyenne Arapahoe and I being Mikmaq First Nations, got to enjoy interacting with local Indians, while waiting for the shop to open on a Sunday. Once inside, in the bead area, we meet a fellow tribal family from my husbands Rez in Oklahoma!! We swapped clan info and found we were related! Love the manager of this shop. Cant remember his name, but he is great. We were on a motorcycle, and having bought too much to carry home, they carefully wrapped and mailed it home for us. Thank you! We will be back next Run!
