The Observatory is Racho Mirage best kept secret. It offers the public a chance to have an experience that you can only get at a few places. You can view several celestial objects at their courtyard where they have several telescopes with staff to assist you. You can also get a chance to look through the main 27.5 inch telescope. They have a astronomer who explains what you are looking at. To allow everyone a chance to view through the telescopes, they only allow no more that 40 people per event. This means you have to make reservation ahead of time. Its well worth the experience.

Ive recently attended lectures at the Rancho Mirage Library on a wide variety of subjects from presentations by resident astronomer Eric McLaughlin about Planet Jupiter and the future of human space travel to Rancho Mirage Mid-century Modern architecture with Melissa Ritchie and Fashion Design with Dame Zandra Rhodes. The auditorium is spacious with an excellent multimedia system . The Observatory is impressive. The library itself is an architectural masterpiece. Its a great place to expand your mind and meet great people from all over the desert! I look forward to meeting you there! - Lance Frank, Berkshire Hathaway home services.

Went to RM Library for their book sale and got books and DVDs. Was able to get a DVD Ive been looking for for only $2 and it was in perfect shape. I always make a special trip when they have a book sale. Afterward I went into the library and looked around there. They have an Aspen Mills inside for those who would like to grab a bite to eat as well.

What an amazing place. Library is well stocked and full of knowledgeable and pleasant staff. The place is clean and well presented. The observatory is yet on another level. The main telescope is a piece of art and cutting edge at the same time. There are 4 other smaller telescopes. Everything is wheelchair accessible. Go on a tour of the observatory at 9am or 3pm Tuesday to Saturday.

I found it quite interesting. I have to go back to see just what all they have there. I will have to go back to see The Observatory which is a little small but still Observatory. I found it to be a very attractive place. There seems to be a lot happening there.

This is an amazing observatory with a 27 inch reflector telescope, a solar-scope, and a host of other cutting edge star-gazing equipment. It is free and open to the public. Wheelchair accessible throughout. Excellent docent guided tours during the day and frequent stargazing events in the evenings led by a friendly and extremely knowledgeable astronomer in residence.

The library has many different areas so it is easy to find what books or info you need. The observatory opened this year. It is open Tuesday---Saturday. They give free tours at 9 am and 3 pm. Also, they have a huge telescope plus several others to have Star Parties periodically. If youre interested in that, you MUST sign up online way in advance. Families and groups are welcome. This part is 7:30-9:00 pm. There is an astronomer to answer your sky questions too.

Finally got to star gaze and I am super excited I did. Took 3 months to get but well worth the wait. The night was clesr and crisp. It is and outdoor excursion so dress appropriately. The main telescope and rotating ceiling provides priceless views light years away. Our guide was very informative and provided lots of information about the stars and galaxies. Nothing short of amazing tour. Plan ahead for a wonderful stargazing coachella skies.
