The hike to get to the falls contained some surprisingly impressive scenery. The hiking trail is wide, easy to walk and keep the distance,Etiwanda Falls, it was a very nice and aesthetical experience really enjoyed this hiking trail, it was not difficult, it was easy but a little complicated walking on small rocks, its hill ups but not so inclined, I have a little experience in hiking so was easy for me.. the water fall is so beautiful, the panoramic is so unique. The parking lot is always packed. I was there @8am and there was no more parking. Also they provide public restrooms. Just in the parking lot.
If youre looking for a good trail run this is it!! Definitely, rocky and uphill so you get a little bit of everything. Normally I dont bring water, but today was 95°. Theres a 3 mile loop and another trail that leads to the waterfall(so beautiful). Its good for all levels of hikers. Today, I saw a lot of children. No dogs allowed. Once a ranger literally stopped me from entering with my pup--couldnt hike that day.Eek I almost, forgot parking is terrible!! Make sure to park in the designated area. They will tow your vehicle.Lastly, beware of snakes!
I have been wanting to get back into hiking and getting active. After reading up on this place, this seemed like a good place to start. I got there around 9am on a Wednesday morning. Parking was readily available and not the nightmare I read about. Followed the steadily-inclining trail and enjoyed he great views. Its pretty rocky at points, but nothing too bad, but wear appropriate shoes. Im out of shape and quickly realized it here. Once to the top there is a nice little waterfall and stream. Very tranquil spot to rest or explore before hiking back down. Lot of graffiti and things like that, but its still worth checking out. The trek down is all downhill and took no time. I had a lot of fun on this trail and saw around 30 people total from start to finish. Definitely will be back to see if I can beat my time! Check it out!
Nice park good door about the three hours of walking across about 1000 feet of elevation change. Parking is limited and they were ticketing and towing folks while I was there. Luckily it was easy to get a ride share to and from the preserve entrance.
The vandalism (all over trees) was disappointing and there arent any trees on the trail until you get to the falls. The trail is very dusty and rocky. Not the most exciting hike, but we could social distance mostly. Its okay. Glad I did it once. I would not recommend doing this hike mid day in the summer. (We went in the morning and it was already pretty warm)
Beautiful hike. Three stars because dogs are not allowed.
Great hike for the family. At the end there is a waterfall and a river. Very nice to Cool off.
The hike is a good uphill 20 minute or so stroll. Tennis shoes are perfect. No need for high end walking or hiking gear needed. Its an open trail large enough to fit people going up and down without causing a fuss. B-E-A-UTIFUL waterfall and streams are an amazing reward. Spectacular and stunning views to relax in. Plenty of shade around the water. An amazing experience.
Nice stroll for a good neighborhood hike!
Good workout and great scenery. Love it.
If you get parking then its a good place to exercise.
The preserve is a very delicate ecosystem. Visitors need to bring out their trash. Its sad to see empty water bottles
Short n sweet hike, calm and relaxing, minor trash issues. Bring trash bags when you can, help keep area clean
Average hike to the falls. NO shade in and out though. Graded incline all the way up to the waterfall. Its worth it.
Beautiful trail, free parking, gates opened at 6:30 am, great view.
Great hike, awesome views, hidden gem of landscaping and scenery once you get to the top. I would recommend this trail to anyone wanting to get some fresh air outdoors. Make sure you find a designated parking spot though, otherwise there are plenty of signs warning of vehicle tow-away.
Other than the graffiti on the rocks and trees, it was wonderful! The waterfall and water made my day. Very friendly hikers.
Amazing in the beginning of trail a little more people but as you make urself to the preserve less people since they all try to go to the falls.
Hike was a little hard for me l, I realized Im out of shape LOL, but the end at waterfall was beautiful
Easy hike, family friendly. Its a popular trail and there are lots of hikers from all walks of life. Parking lot is small, no parking allowed on nearby streets. It was full by 9 am on Sun. Had to wait until someone left which luckily was quick. The parking lot opens at 6:30 am. The falls are nice, shaded by trees. Unfortunately, there is a lot of graffiti on the rocks and trees, but the place is still nice. We hiked as a group and enjoyed it.
Its a nice hike tough especially if you are not in shape like me but its doable and the waterfall at the top is lush and fresh and a good place to recoup from the hike took us about an hour to get up
Scenic value for sure, and it is a fairly steadily paced incline the whole way up. Definitely worth a trip if you have a couple hours to kill
Perfect to clear your head and just go up and focus on other things.
Such a Nice Preserve! Hiked up in the early morning & the weather was beyond NICE with a beautiful breeze going by! Not much bugs in the area. Would come again!!!!
Beautiful views with a nice hike, plenty of people. Bring plenty of WATER as there is NO shade the whole hike up
Great hike, good workout, beautiful view. Kind of rocky so make sure you wear good supporting shoes.
Very manageable hike. Easy to Moderate.
After a great hike you get to enjoy waterfall
I love Hiking, this place is awesome!
Good trail, all rocks. Make sure you ll be down by 8 Pm Sheriff locked gate.
Fantastic place beautiful setting.
Pretty cool place to hike, and enjoy a little slice of nature.
Great hiking trail but here are some pointers!- Get a map or make sure you can use your phone for maps, there is a couple forks on the trail but just dont take side trails keep going as straight along the hiking path as possible, to get the the waterfall! Its worth it.️- No dogs or horses Allowed I believe if you get caught you will be fined, and I just dont feel its safe for dogs, I would have taken my dog but after seeing the terrain I would not recommend it.-Not good for kids in Strollers, (has lots of rocks and slight incline ever now and then, but Not dangerously steep!) or kids that get tired easily, but its good to get them exercise!-Scenery is beautiful!! Desert all around no shade or benches, but its nice, not steep just very full of rocks so if you can take hiking boots if not just take regular walking/ running shoes and watch where you are walking!-TMobile Phone signal is good I was able to receive messages and send as well they just took a little time. Btw I have TMobile-NO BATHROOM so go before!!!-It is about 5-6 miles round-trip, it took us about 1 hour and 15 mins Going up, because of breaks and such. Coming down about 40 mins, so in total about 2 hours, we are not in that great of shape so depending on your athletic abilities timing will very but not by much.- Once you get to the waterfall it is BEAUTIFUL some might call it more of a creek And of you keep going to your left once you enter the waterfall area you will find an even bigger one!
Beautiful family adventure!
Really enjoy this early morning hike. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because there is not enough parking. It is sad that Rancho Law Enforcement arrives every weekend with a few tow trucks to tow away the people who park outside the gate. I guess its one way for the city to meet their quota & make revenue but is the no parking zone really necessary?
Go after recent rainfall and catch the waterfall in all its splendor. Be ready to take plenty of pictures. Kid friendly trail.
Sad that a tractor was repaving the trails and they made us turn around, so we couldnt see the falls, but we WILL be back. Saw plenty of people in plain clothes, people with dogs. And people with toddlers, so safe to say its a pretty easy trail.
Clean peaceful place to unwind . Great work out too !
I love this place, 3 miles or little bit more, back an forward, a lot of rocks, but its worth it.
Great day, almost everyone was friendly...
Visited from Michigan. AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL!
Even hot even in fall, or shade all but just in the falls. We did a different trail this time up to the hill up to 4150 feet.
Beautiful sreenary, mountain and waterfall. So much.
Had a great time with family
No noise. Just you and mother nature.
Great hike but limited parking.... get there early!
1 hour walking
Parking is tough to get. But great views and well maintained trail. You cannot park on the side of the road, even though other card may be parked there!
Is a really nice place to hike just beware is you take kids is better if they are 6 year old or more, is not shade all the walk the smalls waterfall are beautiful bring some sandwiches and enjoy the place, blessed bring bags for trash, lot of people just left bottles o plastics cups along the way, enjoy the outdoors take nice pictures and disconnect from the city is a healthy way for your body and spirit
There is nice hike on this location but limited parking
Beautiful place just alot of rocks
Their are two nice trail trails here. One is a loop that that will take you around the preserve, its a little over four miles. The second trail will take you up to a very nice waterfall, its approximately three and a half miles. The trails are pretty Rocky with no shade
The North Etiwanda Preserve is truly one of a kind. Its scenery holds a lot of history and is a place where you can come face to face with nature. Theyre multiple trails if you want to hike including the Etiwanda Falls.
Its a great hike, just be careful where you park or theyll tow your car
Easy and fun trails to hike.
Nice place to get a good workout. Its worth the hike, once u get to the top.
The is a beautiful hike. Its about 2.5 miles from trail head to the waterfall at trail end, all uphill. There is about 1500 increase in elevation from the trail head to the end of the trail. The trail is full of stones and rocks. Take plenty of water and stay out of the brush because there are rattlesnakes.
Excellent view and scene.
Great place to take a hike
Not much to do
Make sure park in the designated parking. very tricky read signs.
Its a great place for a daily hike and the occasional wildlife encounter. If you make it up at the opening, you will catch a gorgeous sunrise. Its open from 6:30am and closes at 8:30pm. I recommend not leaving any personal or important items in your vehicle during your hike.
The trail can be pretty intense. Depending on how you are fitness wise. I like it a lot. It gives me an awesome sweat and it gets my heart rate up just walking it. Its about 2 and 1/2 mile to the waterfall and same back down depending which way you go. The waterfall rest spot is amazingly cool and refreshing to relax before heading back down. Every person I took so far has loved it!
As soon as I entered the Etiwanda Wilderness Parking area it is noticeable that below the gate no parking signs are posted and Traffic tickets are very likely and yet many cars were parked there. Be aware of that. This hike is somewhat challenging as it is continuous uphill for 1.7 miles one way with an elevation gain more than 800’, Trail is Rocky, with steep gradients at times.Waterfall area, trees are all covered with Tree Carvings, but surprisingly found no trash in the Area. Water is crispy clean and a continuous flow even in late October. Pls preserve this environment.
Great spot for incline hiking training. Theres a couple main trails that lead to Etiwanda Falls (just keep to right & keep climbing, ull eventually hear the water) when half way up theres a trail that branches off the the left (incline training) & wraps around to starting point. If ur new here, wear good hiking boots or trail stick due to excessive loose rocks. On hot days over 100° recommend lots of water. The views are so worth it.
Loved this place
Great hike. Gradual slope over 3 miles will challenge just enough. Please DO NOT bring your dog. People ignore this rule. This is a protected Flora and fauna area! Even bacteria your dog carries could be harming the environment.
This trail is a bit challenging but when you make it to the top you’ll find an oasis. It’s a lovely view and there is always some water. You’ll find yourself at the top of the waterfall but the hike doesn’t have to stop there. My son and I have hiked upstream on the rock and there are apparently a few miles of primitive trail once you cross the stream. Be warned some people are disrespectful of the natural beauty so expect to see some graffiti. On warm days take some water, there’s not much shade until you reach the top.
Beautiful place to take family
Great place to take a nice little hike! Lots of History to be viewed and nice people to meet be sure to wear some good sturdy hiking shoes its very Rocky
Love the hiking trail, its close to where I live, beautiful scenery, a good workout. Especially when you make it to the waterfall. The only downside is very limited parking, when its crowded you have to wait til someone leaves and you cant park on any residential streets. I will Definately continue to go there as it is just beautiful being out in nature.
Dozens of trails to choose from. Get outside and enjoy life.
Hot day for a hike, but what a reward! A few different trails to use, all quite Rocky and exposed. Get there early or late as there is limited parking and it fills quickly. Water was getting well and nice and cool. Did a loop with extras and sightseeing
There are 2 or 3 trails. One can make a loop and one can reach waterfall. After about 1 mile of 2 you can reach waterfall area from parking lot. It is not too big that you can stay there whole day. But the trail ( to the waterfall) isnt too challenge that most people can give it a try. Only problem is the parking. There are not enough space.
Very clean, not too many people
Good place
Hard hike on your body if your older like us lots of rocks. Steady as you go up, wear hats and protect your skin from the Sun. lots of water. Once to the waterfall its like another world. Cool, shady and beautiful.
Me my kids &dogs go regularly I also try 2 take friends, its a wonderful hiking trail & when u get up pretty high theres a beautiful waterfall. Learned thats not the top tho another hiker told me he goes higher so his dog can play.Lets go hope 2 c u there!!!?
Great hike
This trail is a bit challenging but when you make it to the top you’ll find an oasis. It’s a lovely view and there is always some water. Beautiful sunrise
Good walk enjoy w friends & family or by yourself
Amazing hiking trails
We recommend everyone to visit this trail, its not very long but has a nice waterfall. The preserve offers lots of wildlife such as coyotes, deer, rabbits, and snakes. After it rains, it makes an awesome view!
Its a 3.5 miles round trip walking to the falls, lots of uphill walking and graffiti on random rocks and signs on the way, the walking back is way easy though, be sure to wear shorts and bring water for the walk.
I love it for its simple accessibility. There are many places that have better trees, scenery. But the view, and the waterfall in the back. Now those I love. There is graffiti in some places which is sad, but I think its still a great place to go, and it doesnt take away from the view of the city.
Loved it but exposed
Truly nothing special. But if you need to get out and stretch our legs, it will do. Note - dogs are not allowed, but that appears to be completely ignored.
Mi favorite place to hike with the family
Beautiful!
Good views.
Nice trail not too far from home. Not too strenuous..good for beginners
This is a nice place to hike. I wish I had more time to hike this.
Be careful when its hot. Nice cool shady spot near the waterfall. Bring a snack and something to drink for sure.
Sapphire Falls is awesome
Nice
Great place to hike. But no pets allowed. And there is a guy (resident) that will give u an ear full if u bring a dog.
