Local hike in the Inland Empire area. I’ve only ever taken the main trail until I tried the extended route. Less incline, less rocky trail and a lot less crowded. Cool structure and bridge along the way too. You’ll eventually connect back to see the main Waterfall. Love this hike. Recommend for anyone nearby
The trail can be nice but they dont allow dogs. They also have one sign that says they close at 5pm from Nov-dec/Jan. So they will close the gate and you will not be able to get out without calling the number on the sign. Please be warned to hear down the trail about 45 min ahead of time. We left 4:20 and it took longer than going up (since it gets very dark and you need to be careful). The waterfall you cant really see and its a very small creak.
Overall good hike... my son and I do a lot of hiking but today when my family did the trail, we saw a lot of people who thought since this is a beginner hike it would be easy for them - be careful if thats you. Take your time, take water, with breaks as you need to and you will make it fine while being rewarded with beautiful views and the falls at the end. It is a good hike to start with but if you are new to hiking or renewing physical activity it could be a workout but very doable. The trail has a steady incline and is somewhat rocky. There is an 800 ft incline gain in elevation from the parking lot, and about 1500 elevation gain if you need to park in the neighborhood since the parking lot is full. In the early early morning, the brush and hills on the trail will provide shade... however during summer by 9:30 am you will be mostly in the sun. The trail can be heavily traveled (especially in the later hours of the morning on the weekend) and even planning to getting to the parking lot at 630am when the trail opens in summer on the weekend wont ensure parking, so be prepared for an extra 0.6 mi from parking to the trail head.Due to the heavy traffic you might see some trash so please pack it in and pack it out and while on trail if you see trash and are able to pick it up safely that is always welcomed. My only complaints is the ugly graffiti that people feel compelled to leave, and when hiking try to have some trail etiquette and listen to your music with ear buds. Yes your music helps you do the hike but no one else wants to hear what you are listening to so please be respectful of those around you who also want to enjoy the beauty. All in all I would recommend it if you want to start hiking while seeing a beautiful trail end with having a sense of accomplishment do the hike. If you are in shape /experienced hiker you wont be disappointed either as a fun little hike local to so cal.
WARNING. THE PLACE WILL LOCK YOU IN AND TOW YOUR CAR.No I am not joking. It does not close at 8pm like it says online. They close much earlier and lock the gate leaving whatever cars are inside at the time locked in. You have to call sheriff dispatch to come open whenever they feel like it.The hike is mediocre with the trail being fairly short and extremely rocky. The waterfall is very small. Its an ok experience but nothing to write home about.
Great hike! Hott during the day, bring water. The falls are absolutely worth seeing, its beautiful. The falls were pretty crowded, and almost noone wearing a mask. But sunset is the perfect time.
WARNING!!!! The city takes advantage of the ignorance of people who go to this hike. They park out of the parking limit and get their cars towed. They make tons of money taking advantage of people who just wanna have some fun. I saw families who had to wait for someone to pick them up. My car got towed too and they been doing this for a long time. Hike is not impressive tho. Go somewhere else. Do your research theres plenty of better spots. I dont recommend anyone to come here.
Beautiful place to go on a hike and enjoy the fresh air. Theres a trail loop and two running water creeks and miles more of trails that go into the mountains.
Really nice trail for hiking and running. The uphill gives you a constant challenge and rewards you with a beautiful view and waterfall. Easy enough for solo hikes and with friends. Its approximately 1.7 miles up to the waterfall from the parking area. It can get very busy so be ready to share the narrowish trail and expect the parking to be limited. Also the trail closes at 8 so make sure to time your hike. Youll get locked in otherwise and it sucks.
We got there at 6:15 am. A line was already formed waiting to get into the parking lot. Gate was opened and we.were able to park. Started our hike as we began trekking up the trail. We.seen the parking lot was already full by 6:30. We hiked 0.5 miles in and decided to turn back due to the amount of people coming in and the large amount of people who started hiking before us. As we were hiking back to the car we passed large crowds of people, 1-out of 10 people had a mask on. We were happy about the choice we made .. didnt want to be gathered in large crowds at the water. Especially on the trails. We will come back another time.Better safe the sorry. Social distancing wasnt being practiced. So we decided to take ourselves out of the situation and head home. Well be back and enjoy the trail another time..
FIRST TIME HERE WE HAD A GREAT TIMEGRN_MONSTER_213_
This place is beautiful and so close to home. Its a pretty good workout with a awesome reward at the top of the hike! And mountain water! Great! Dont forget to splash your face with water its an awesome feeling. What a rush!
I’m a dog lover so this trail was very disappointing to me. They don’t allow dogs there which really ticked me off since I had already brought my dogs. Ended up having to walk back and go to Hermit Falls. I guess if you’re not a dog lover, this trail is for you. But if you love to bring your dogs to hike with you, then you won’t be able to bring them along :/
NICE TRAIL. BEAUTIFUL SCENERY. Burned alot of caloríes on this hike if your in to fitness. Good place to take family and friends.
Beautiful views and a nice trail however not ideal for beginners with kids under 5. We were really looking forward to the water falls at the top but my 3 year old couldn’t make it all the way. It’s also really rocky so you wouldn’t be able to trek a stroller with your kid to the top.
First time here loved getting to the top so with it first time hiking most definitely coming again
A fantastic place to go hiking. The falls are absolutely breathtaking.
The trail was very nice with beautiful scenery. Well maintained, wide. And rocky.
The trail is super easy to follow, and depending on your fitness level you might even want to run sections of the trail. The inclines will get your heart rate up, but this is a suitable hike for people of all ages. I went mid-week and it was quiet, but still plenty of people around. The waterfall is a peaceful place!
This is a pretty easy hike on a well marked trail, with plenty of parking at the trailhead. Its popular. So expect to share the hike with others. It does not allow dogs, though it looks like some people bring them anyway. The last 1/4 mile is a little challenging, but the falls are really pretty, I wish morons would stop with the graffiti - but theres not much if it.
It is a bit of a challenge to get to the top but very rewarding.
Short walk up to the falls from the parking lot. A leisurely to average walk can get you to the falls in well under 45 minutes. The falls themselves are nice and there is a really pleasant groove of trees just upstream from the falls. I did it in cowboy boots and work pants, and my feet didnt hurt, but there are a lot of loose rocks in the trail. So if you are bringing kids up the trail be careful they dont roll their ankles as they run around.
Nice place to walk, and nice panoramic views.
Nice steady incline hike with a small cool rest area at the end. But parking is crazy and sadly one of my friends car just got towed being parked on Etiwanda I know it’s our fault but at least a ticket instead of a completely tow. Worst part is their was a sheriff who was just driving up and down. About 15 cars were towed. I wish they would extend parking.
Great hike. Be careful, you can fall just like I did on the way down. Ouch...
Our first time here and we enjoyed it very much!
This is a very easy trail that allows you to simply enjoy nature and the beauty of the moom and sun rise
Etiwanda Falls is beautiful the hike to it is worth it. The trail is not even or smooth. There is a lot if rocks and dirt. Bring strong tennis shoes or something form of hiking shoes. Bring water their are no bathrooms or drinking fountains. I seen a few persons wearing sandals. To many rocks on trail. I felt sorry for them. CUT TOES.
Love the trail and waterfall but I just want to reiterate that when they say the gate closes at 8 they mean THE GATE CLOSES AT 8! Luckily a nice park ranger came and let us all out but he said that if the sheriff comes to free those locked in they cite them. Definitely keep track of time and dont get locked in
I enjoyed the view, gates opened 6:30 am free parking
Great hike up to the falls. A little steep so be prepared. The falls are impressive for one that is so close to an urban area but dont expect too much. It is so sad to see grafetti on the rocks and trash in some places. Please pick up after yourself when you visit. This area needs to be respected by all who visit. Also, if you have time after the falls visit panoramic viewing area. Excellent views of the mountains in the distance and cities below.
Beautiful landscape! A little hot during the day but great scenery for photography!
Up hill for glutes...lots of rocks....my favorite trail
Due to the temperature and lack of shade, I would not consider it an easy hike unless you score up really early (no later than 8am) Definitely bring water! I would also recommend to get there early since parking is very limited.
Its a cool hike, the day I went it was crazy humid so the almost constant incline was tough but not that tough. When we got up to where the water is it was perfect up there and completely worth it!
Great place for family and hiking enjoy everything
I hiked with my 11/5/3 year old children... They loved it... It wasnt easy but it was worth it
The hike was not too heavy and great to take photos. It was beautiful at the end where there was a stream and a waterfall! I would definitely go again!
Tiring, rocky and mostly uphill 4 mile hike. Not ankle- friendly. Kid-friendly with a rewarding, peaceful waterfall. Water is a must for a 30 to 45 min hike to the waterfall.
This place is an awesome hike for families, individuals, couples, and large groups. Though a few things a note, you should have a good set of hiking shoes or boots and when there is a wind advisory expect the conditions to be not exactly Pleasant. The hike is relatively easy and offers a decent amount of hikeable areas and opportunities for photo ops.Theres also a side Trail right before you get up to the falls and it leads off into Day Creek Canyon which is also a very nice hike, which could be coupled with the primary hike to make for a great outing.
Moderate hike. Should take 45 minutes to 1 hour to reach the water falls.
A bit of a WARNING on parking. Read the signs to see park hours!! You WILL get locked in if you are there after closing and risk tows, impound, and fines. Theyve blocked off there rest where it was posted no parking but people would still because of the limited space in the lot. Otherwise, easy to find with a nice trail up. Theres some other nice stops like the gazebo with relevant info but it seemed many people were going for the waterfall. It might be smaller than you think, but pretty cool none the less. While not on the map, take the right path up as apparently its shorter from what Ive read. Youll know because that will be the one people are on. Definitely doable for most people and carrying water and what you need a good idea as no way to get on site.
Good hike bring bug spray
Its a nice trail but DO NOT PARK WHERE IT SAYS RESTRICTED DO NOT PARK I did it because there was a lot of people parked everyone got tickets( $70 TICKET) and half of the cars got towed luckily mine didnt but they were moving there way up to do it. BE AWARE OF THIS !!
Hoping to find people that are aware that there is a PANDEMIC AND MASK ARE REQUIRED!!!!! But no out of 15 car loads I seen 1 faimly that had mask on .. Ill come back another time
Great light workout, its an incline all the way til you reach the falls. The water feels so refreshing!
I love hiking here its about 1 1/2 miles to the water fall thats usually 35-50 minutes up. Depends on how fit you are. There is a lot of rocks though so you have to be very careful as you walk. Its easy to sprain an ankle or even trip on the rocks.
I enjoy hiking, but good hiking place always seem to be far from home.Etiwanda Falls is a local hiking trail and easy to commute to.The parking is is a good capacity, but it does fill up quite a bit during the weekend from 9am - 12pm.The trail itself is steep in some parts, and there are a lot of small pebbles and big rocks. I recommend comfortable shoes that have grip on them. Its safe for children and dogs. The hike up to the waterfall is worthwhile. You reach the water and theres shade and the view is pretty nice and relaxing.
We saw some water pressure on the old water vent tubes, at the Etiwanda trail. It rained for few weeks, but looks really great! We presumed the park workers put some small granite rocks on the trail, to have more grip and safety on the hike. The Etiwanda Falls had awesome, having clear water flow.
I drove my motorcycle to the Trail and recorded ecerything on my gopro... it was hot but the hike was a great exercise. I cant wait to make a really dope edit with the content I got.
Had a great hike up to the falls. Started late @ 5pm took my time taken photos. The falls were flowing with lots of flowers blooming. Great time got down a bit after dark.
Nice trail that leads to a stream.
One of the nicest trails Ive been to that has waterfalls.. lots of shade when on top... Be careful with stones while you WALK up... lots of loose stones all sizes may hurt your ankle..
Our car was broken into while hiking so beware. Otherwise......Absolutely beautiful hike with lush vegetation during winter months while the falls are flowing. There are 2 trails at top with 2 falls. The trail splits and the water joins together. Its about 1.5 miles to falls. Head straight on trail, you cant miss it.
This is a nice easy hike or running trail. It is rocky so wear sturdy shoes. Family friendly. No dogs please. It can be a little hard to get in a steady run if a lot of people are on the trail, but an overall good workout.
Hot and exposed. Ill pass on this in the summer, though the parking lot was busy.
Very nice, I believe its like a 4 mile hike and the scenery is soooooooo breathtaking with all the mountains, I suggest putting on bug spray on, kids walk up there with their parents so nice to see familys hike, also you have to leave before 8pm or they will shut the gate and have to wait till on call comes to open...
Beautiful hike and great scenery at the top.
Its quite a trail, mainly up hill hike but the stream and waterfall at the end of the hike makes it all worth it
The trail is close and many options for how many miles you can hike.
Fun hike, bit of a trip to get to the stream but once your there its well shaded, lol over crowded but thats a Sunday for you.
A nice hike with two trails where one ends in a waterfall.
Amazing place just to many people during weekends.
People are still bringing their dogs even though it is posted that dogs are not allowed
Dont bother going past the danger signs, the path just leads to a drain. Keep climbing and youll get to the waterfalls
Gradual upgrade hike all the way to the falls, not alot of water falling!!! But much cooler once you get there
Beautiful destination, shaded and scenic.
Nice hike! Lots of loose gravel. Worth it!
Its an ok trail but the downside is very limited parking. If you park on private property, which is not marked, expect a $120.00 fine.
I was looking for a trail with a nice view but the trail is nothing like the pictures on here. Everything is dry and the trail is full of big rocks that hurt your feet!!!! Do not recommend this trail.
Nice hike. Get there early, limited parking. SBSD will tow if your parked illegally. Please dont bring dogs. The signs are clearly posted for no dogs. Park rangers will site you, if you have your dog.
Its a beautiful place to go!!
Easy trail.. has a good incline.
Crowded parking lot even at 9am on a Thursday, but still had plenty of room on the trail.
Cute little waterfall at the very top!
Omg breath taking as always great place to take family
The trail is good for beginners and experienced hikers. Reaching the fall is worth it!
The hike is a bit intense since its uphill. so come with extra water bottles. If you keep going straight without making detours for 50 min. youll be rewarded with a shaded spot with a waterfall, its relaxing.
This trail hike up to a multiple waterfalls which is pretty popular.
I want to rate this place with 1 star so people dont come and I can enjoy the place all to myself.Great place for a quick hike. If walking with young kids, about a 45 minute hike up. Small waterfall at the top. Some idiot people leave trash, we make sure to pick some up so the place looks nice.Rain will erode the trail but the rangers or whomever, do a really good job at coming through to fill the erosion so the trail is still safe.Parking is very limited. If you can bike here, Id suggest it.
A nice/short trail with a decent waterfall if it rained recently. Its also dog friendly which is a plus, however there is lots of graffiti scattered about. My favorite thing is the trees near the waterfall are great for a hammock! Recently there were signs that the gate closes at 6:30pm so, I try not to stay too late.
Love those waterfalls at the end!Its worth the hike.so beautiful and refreshing on a hot day!
Great hike and experience but be aware of car thievery. They took valuables from car while the hike and used credit card and etc.
Nice trail and great view at the end totally worth a hike up
Its a great hike for kids and adults alike. The falls are beautiful and worth the trek to see.
Cool hike, I got a good work out. It isn’t worth the view. The waterfall has graffiti on the rocks and there’s trash from people not picking up after themselves. Sad people don’t respect nature.
Get to the trail head early PARKING SPACE ARE LIMITED Also if you dont park in a parking space you will get TOWED AWAY. The hike to the waterfall is only 1.9 miles. Very Rocky but still a easy hike for the kids and family.
Perfect for a day hike or walk. Can get crowded, especially in the mornings and weekends.
Long hike for me but rewarding at the top very straightforward- bit nippy tho towards sunset so bundle up
Great easy trail when you just want to get out there and explore. A lot of history.
