The beer was okay. Had two Ambers, on Chai and one more traditional. Neither was bad, but they were both rather average. Also tried a friends Wheat, which was also less than inspiring. Good enough local beer, however in this golden age of craft brews they need to find some ways to stand out. I cant speak of the food. The establishment was awesome, and the game room looked like a great time to spend with friends having some drinks. Service wasnt bad at all for a Wednesday afternoon! Bring up the quality of brews and Ill give it another shot!
I hosted my Daughter Sweet Sixteen in the Raleigh Location and everything went so well. The facility was so clean and ready to be decorated. The staff was so professional and kind. The food was excellent and the service was great with getting our food out. I will recommend anyone to have a function there.
We loved our back to back experiences at Tobacco Road. The beermosas are delightful and the food was fantastic. They are pet friendly on their patio and it was like my dog was the star of the show. Each server made sure he had water and gave extra pets. Its also a great spot for football and sports with tvs outside and inside. Alex, the Owner, came out to greet us and we struck up a conversation. He was so welcoming, along with all the staff, we really felt at home. He brought little surprises for my friends children, which went a long way! As a hospitality professional of over 15 years, I can say that Alex knows the true meaning of genuine hospitality. This carries to his staff and the passion for great food and beverages. This will definitely be my go-to spot as a Raleigh newcomer. Thanks to you and the team, Tobacco Road! Keep up the great work!
The space is very open and beautifully modern. I can see how it might attract people looking to watch sports. However, the beer on draft tasted pretty generic and did not encourage me to order more than one.
Great patio with tvs outside! Service was great. Excellent beer selection, both draft and in cans and bottles. Food OK. I know vegetarian options are not their thing, but 1-2 options that are not the Impossible burger would be nice. We like sports, too.
I feel horrible writing this review as I’ve always loved Tobacco Road, but this past experience was so poor that I felt compelled to write a review.I want to start by saying that past experiences at the bar were great and our server had a wonderful and patient personality. Seriously, he was awesome and doing the best he could under a new technology system and very clearly, a broken down management issue. Also they treat dog friends here wonderfully! But so, so much went wrong. The constant onslaught of 20 flies at our table, asking 3 different people for silverware 3 times (even after we got our food), drinks coming one drink at a time, appetizer coming with dessert, the menus and old drink cups continuing to pile up on our bistro set table for 4 people, the several pieces of cork in the wine, multiple requests for items such as napkins and extra plates from multiple staff was bad enough. We wanted to ask for some salt and pepper but we knew it would be a lost cause. Our server was able to acknowledge the weaknesses in our experience, but everyone else seemed genuinely clueless. There were TWO tables outside on a Friday night; we were one of them. Yet, we still had to wait 30 minutes between drink orders. It’s literally impossible to get drunk at this bar because you get one drink an hour. I had to start ordering doubles. Their was one employee who his sole job was to open the door between the restaurant and patio. We wanted to turn this into a drinking game, but couldn’t because we didn’t have any drinks. We also tried to leave to go somewhere else but we’re waiting on a round of drinks we ordered 20 minutes prior.Tobacco Road, what has happened? Are you okay? Do you need some cash flow for some bug repellant? Maybe some staff training? Y’all used to be my favorite place to watch games. We literally had to start putting our empty plates and cups on an empty table so someone would take them away. Disappointed and hoping this isn’t the future for Tobacco Road.P.S. As I was about to send this review, I saw the one other table go inside to retriever their own silverware.
First time here since I recently moved here so I stopped in for a few beers and an app and was very pleased. Great beer selection and the waiter with the wicked Boston accent was super nice and made sure we didnt have to wait to order and greeted our table with waters. Plan to come back for a long time.
Menu was a bit limited for a sports cafe. Crab dip was mainly mayo. Flavored Ritz crackers to dip with was the saving grace. Had Turkey wrap which was pretty tasty but had lots of shredded cheddar which was different than most wraps. It was easy to remove the majority of the cheese. Wrap was large and stayed firm for the next days lunch when I had other half.
Wings and tots...good stuff. Nicole was a great server. The reason for 4 stars is just because of how loud it is. However, it was the opening Sunday for NFL, so I cant be too harsh.
Awesome sports bar! Had all the games on and had good food/beer.
Good food, great atmosphere, and they went out of their way to find the Appalachian State football game for us. :)
Down east nachos were awesome. Wait staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
.Above average food and sports on the screen. What else would you want?
For a long time, this was my favorite place to eat. Great beer, every sports game on the air at any given time, and the FOOD. Primarily the OLD Tobacco Road Cheesesteak with thick cuts of tender ribeye, provolone, and fried tobacco onions. Their current version of this menu item is dismal at best - this was the start. Now, the service alone is enough to deter any sort of repeat business. Ive been four times since they reopened after the shelter-in-place orders. One of the four times Ive been was the service any good. Waits between drink times are long, dirty plates seem to stack on the table, and the waiter/waitress is often forgetful of what you ordered. Now, I understand the impact that COVID-19 has had on local business, and this definitely doesnt deserve one star. There is, however, a downward trend developing. Considering the recent reviews - Im not alone here. Please realize what is happening and put a plan in place to reverse it before it is too late.
The food here is always delicious and so well-priced. The beer is great and the service is so friendly every time. 10/10
Food was excellent, however our server ignored us for 20 minutes. The last few times Ive gone, servers seem unwilling to help each other. Management cant staff and train correctly.
Nashville Hot wings were amazing!!! Great service.
Attended a networking event here. The location is good and there is a parking deck on the same block, paid parking.Industrial look and feel, lots of y’all windows and natural light. Great, laid back feel. The beer was delicious. They served eastern NC pulled pork, shrimp and a southwest egg roll. WOW. Delish. This is definitely a spot I’ll be back to for a sit down meal and to try some more beer.
This is a nice place for food, drinks, private parties, and to watch a sports game on TV. A great bonus is that its attached to where the Durham Bulls play minor league Baseball. Daily food and drink specials. Nice staff. Plenty of parking. Clean facilities with a wheelchair accessible entrance. Credit cards accepted. Public Restrooms. Nice staff. Great to order appetizers and share. We will definitely be going back
I would give this place 5 stars, but someone lied to me about reservations after offering a spot and asking for my name. Aside from this, I will say that this is a great place to bring a date or a group of guys. Also, if you have no clue as to what you want from the menu try Big Als chicken Philly or the what my girl ordered (I think it was a spicy chicken sandwich).
I just drank beer and had a couple of appetizers but was very happy with my experience. I just recently found out that Tobacco Road brews their own beer so I had to take a trip to try it and was pleasantly surprised. Great beer and tasty pimento cheese appetizer. The Tropical IPA was very yummy. They also validate parking in the garage behind them if you bring parking receipt and spend 15 bucks.
1/11/2020-There were no seats available inside so we decided to sit outside on the patio. We placed our order inside at the bar and were given a “flag” that said “Boston College” and we went back outside to wait. In this time, it had rained at least 3 times. We waited for 2 hours and in this time we seen waiters bring our food out and take it right back inside. Finally, we asked one of the waiters for the Manager. When the manager came over, the only thing he could say was “maybe they didn’t see the flag”, that was in plain view, and that it wasn’t “a flag that the waiters would normally look for”. Also, to add in, the same manager walked past us at least 4 times and never stopped to ask how we were doing. We were given the option to cancel or get it made again, since we had already been waiting, we chose to get it made again to go. Upon arriving home we discovered that the food that was suppose to had been made fresh, was in fact the same food we had been waiting over an hour for! Disappointing, as we had been planning to eat there all week.
What an amazing place! I haven’t been here in a while since I moved out of town, but I was blown away by my last experience. They’ve completely remodeled the place and it looks AMAZING! We had a party of 25 and definitely felt like we were at home. Everyone from the front desk to our servers was welcoming and friendly. Our food was amazing too! I had the Strawberry And Avocado Salad with shrimp. We will definitely be back the next time we are in town!
We had our wedding rehearsal dinner at Tobacco Road in October with about 30 people. Staff was great. Food was delicious. Beer was awesome. Super easy to work with. Everyone had a great time!
Ordered ribs, but they didnt have it. Ordered coffee. They never brought it. They still charged us for it. The free parking was nice ... But not worth giving them money for nothing. I went to a group event recently and that was better. GF options for general patrons are more limited than other places.
Great food, but unfortunately the service lacks. We waited 15 minutes for a server. Ordered drinks which came out wrong. Our appetizer came out with no plates and no silverware. Arrived before a 1 PM game. When seated, we immediately requested they put the game on. We asked three different employees all of them told us only the manager could change the channel. When he finally arrived 45 minutes into the game we’d decided to leave. This place use to be a great spot but this is the third time we’ve had a negative experience.
Great food. Terrible service. We had prior reservations of a group of 20. I ordered a drink as soon as i got there. Didnt receive it til about 45 minutes later. What really bothered me was the gratuity. I ended up giving her 7 dollars for the worst service ever. The food was great tho. Poor service.
The food is generally good, but can be a little bland. The service is always slow, so I dont recommend going here if youre in a hurry. Despite being a larger sized building, it can feel extremely tight when walking around, and is unusually loud. On the bright side, it is really fun to walk outside by the baseball field, and the waiters come off as sincere frequently.
Great place and location, however the menu I think should be revamped. The same items have been on the menu in Durham for the longest. Nonetheless great place to watch a game and hang out with friends, they also have a private room/upstairs area for events.
Enjoyed a 30th birthday parter with 14 or some close friends and family. Wait staff kept the beverages coming, food on the table, and went out of their way to make sure we had a great time. Local law was waiting outside on the steps when we left, so be prepared to catch a ride home if youre enjoying yourself too much. Big screens for games and such. Plus, youre close to train tracks - if you love the horn-blast of a train.
Great selection of beer at reasonable prices. Also great specials even on the weekend. Friendly staff and cool environment for drinks/games/sports.
I had my husbands retirement party here and I can’t say enough about my excellent experience from the moment I spoke to Amy ( event coordinator) to the very sweet and helpful young lady at the front and ESPECIALLY our personal wait staff! Joe,Katie,Paulina & Jamie, you 4 were rock stars and took care of our 45+ guest with ease! Thank you so much! The food was delicious( those shrimp and grit shooters) yeeessss! Everyone enjoyed themselves! Great job!!
I like this place, lately we are going there for lunch with coworkers. Up until now had great service and food also. Today was a bit different and different staff also. We sat down as usual to a table, it was two another tables with costumers. We were sitting there for about 10 minutes and no one came to our table at all. 4 people was working there, none of them was able to take time to even greet us. Finally we had enough, got up and went Clouds next door, were we where served well. When we left and complained about not to being served, they said they didnt notice us :)). Sure. The server walked by us at least 5 times and the another girl cleaned the table right next to us. They must have been blind
Average food, great service, clean bathrooms and average parking. Great for a date or get together with a group of people. Lots of room on the Second Story and the live music was great.
Went for a group meet up. First time here. Great food. Fun atmosphere. Lots of space. Great service/staff. We parked in the garage behind the building and found out they reimburse parking as long as you spend $15.
The customer service was good, the food was very good and served fast but it was warm not hot... however they were very courteous when asked to reheat the plates. Please try the crab cakes and ribs!!!!
Excellent pork chops good service.
This is my first time going back to tobacco road since they moved. The food was great before they moved, but today the food was not what I expected it to be. My husband got shrimp and grits and it was less grits and really watery. Also, the beef ribs were very tough so it may be a while before I come back again or visit the one in Durham.
This was our first time visiting this location for a birthday celebration. The private dining area was amazing and our server Precious took care of us. Even when there were some slight issues beyond her control, she was quick to rectify the issue. Lovely atmosphere for adults and also the game area kept the young ones entertained. We will definitely be going back.
By far the best place to watch sports in Raleigh. Amazing set up. The menu has tons of variety and everything is awesome. And its run by good people. Highly, highly recommend!
The food is very good, service is good. Only 3 stars because they have small tables; was sitting with 6 people at table and it was very cramped and uncomfortable. Our table was pulled away from the wall, and still elbows were in the way; and my companions are not big people. Made the experience less pleasant.
Visiting from CT the bison burger was absolutely amazing beer selection amazing. Id give 5 stars but dart board pool table run downed. No chalk for hands or sticks. A lot of out of order sIgns on games. But if just going fOr food and beer 5️ . Entertainment 2️
I absolutely love the friendly atmosphere ...very impressed with the helpfulness of the staff. My out of town family from PA had only nice things to say. Thanks to owners of Tobacco Road for providing a wonderful venue for my daughters wedding!
The food is good, but the last 2 weeks, the first four beers Ive ordered, which they brew, were not on tap. And since they have stopped carrying other really good beers, so that they can sell their beer, its really frustrating. Update the menu or MAKE MORE BEER. After ordering my fifth choice and being told they dont have it, I went with water. This review is from 10/2019.
I love their Cobb salad (minus the blue cheese ). I crave the salad. Easy walk from the office, which is a plus.
Great place. Good food. Good atmosphere. Average prices. Nice place to hang out. Lots of tvs. Just a all around great choice. Owner seems to be very involved, and has taken the time to stop by our table on 2 different occasions and chat.
Friendly staff. Large area with great brews. Outdoor seating could be improved with expansion or at least shading existing area. I personally enjoy sitting outside. Otherwise I would give it a mark higher.
Great place to watch a game. Good beer choices. Get the buffalo chicken Mac and cheese. Does not disappoint. Assortment of games such as skeeball, air hockey and basketball.
Had our company party here and the staff and food were excellent. Will definitely be on top of the list to visit again in Raleigh.
The best Buffalo Chicken sandwich I’ve found, but TRS Cafe is taking this work of art off the menu! SMH Durham location, it’s already gone and Raleigh location is switching over to a new menu soon! SMH Closest thing on new menu is some Wolfpack sandwich made from chicken THIGH meat soaked in PICKLE juice!!!!! Really SMH Now I have to find a new spot. Any suggestions for a great Buffalo Chicken BREAST sandwich?
We reserve the press box for ou sons rehearsal dinner and it was great. The staff was friendly and very accommodating.
If there was a negative star that would be my rating. Sat at the bar with a friend and made eye contact with both bartenders, held my hand up notifying them that we were ready to order and after 15 minutes one of them came down and asked what did we want. I had their drink menu in my hand and requested what I would like and he said we dont have that anymore and took the menu out of my hand as he walked away. I looked at my friend as if somebody was playing a joke on us. 5 or 7 minutes later he came back and asked what did I want again, I told him what I would like and he turned around and left without asking my friend what she wanted. Now another 10 minutes has went by and we have yet to get our drinks and we are starving. We finally waved to the other bartender because the first has never returned. Mind you there are about six people at the bar, it is not busy by any means. She proceeds to take our order and asked if we wanted to start a tab. I told her we did not but we were going to order dinner as well. She told me that she could not place our dinner order without holding our credit cards. I have never in my life heard this, as if youre holding my dinner for ransom. I told her we were planning on eating at the bar, could we not just pay for our checks when we were done but she said she had to hold our credit cards. Once the drinks were delivered and the food came we never saw our bartender again. She never asked if we needed another drink, she never asked if our food was okay, nothing. This was my first time at tobacco road and it will be my last time. Management you need to have a talk with your staff on how to treat your customers.
Good food, brew and its always a game on or they will turn on the one youd like to see.
Great place to go with a group. We had a table outside and although it was a little chilly outside the heat warmer lamps worked wonderful. The food and drinks were both exceptional.
Great food and atmosphere! Parking in deck sort.odna pain. They reimburse on your bill not with cash or a stamp (at least on weekends).
Great place, Great beer, excellent Customer service. Owner shared recommendations for other breweries. Don’t pass this one by!
Food was good but our service was piss poor.
Good environment and good food
Came here for spouses holiday party. Not impressed. The bar service was slow and the the quality of the beverages was not too good, pricey. Also wondering what they mean by sports cafe. Only a handful of TVs.
Food was pretty good but service VERY slow. Cooks need to pay attention. Only a couple of the 6 meals at our table came out with everything on the first try. Pasta came out barely above room temp, and the Alfredo sauce had no real flavor. On the Burgers they forgot the sauces. No biggie except that it took SO long to get the sauce out (waitress had been out like 5 times, asked twice) to us that the burgers were cold. Taste was still good luckily. Beer was decent. Would not recommend for groups because they can not seem to handle everyone ordering at once. Automatic 20% gratuity.... After THAT service. Lost the 3rd star for that one!
Fresh food. Tasty food. Everything is locally grown. Great staff. Definitely will return
Food is really good. Great atmosphere with games and activities.
The beer was great! The place was much bigger than expected and has a great vibe to it. Portion sizes are huge and the food is amazing. No complains
This is a very trendy, upscale sports bar / restaurant. The Raleigh location has extensive space for eating, meeting and even rentals. Location is in a renovated shop building and is beautiful and well renovated, holding onto its history as well. There is outdoor seating available as well. Would recommend.
10 out of 10... add this as a must do to your culinary calendar
Nice local bar and brewery, lots of seating and a room full of arcade games.
Went to eat here after it was recommended. Arrived before 4:00 PM for an early dinner. There is no parking. Had to park in a pay parking deck. Said they would reimburse the cost. Got inside and was told more than 1.5 hour wait. A whole section of the restaurant was not being utilized yet the would not open up a table. They also would not reimburse give parking fee when we could not wait because of another obligation. The restaurant es very loud and the management was not understanding. Will give zero stars if possible. Would not recommend even without trying the food. I paid money to receive no service. Wont ever try this place.
A birthday Party
Delicious beers, great food. Had Carolina Reaper wings and they didnt disappoint my love of heat at all, definitely in my favorites in the extreme spice category. Neat game room for some fun.
Ashley is the best, what an excellent service and always smiling despite how busy the place was...she went extra mile to help me out with good attitude!!! Keep it up!
From the moment we walked in the door to the time we left, we had a great experience. Our server was very helpful in helping my husband decide what to order for lunch. The portion sizes were way larger then expected.Bathrooms were very clean!Sweet tea could have been a tad bit sweeter but still not bad.
This place deletes their bad reviews!! Dont trust these as the only comments they have gotten!! The service was absolutely garbage and the food was equivalent to what my 3 year old nephew could produce.
The best nachos Desmond was amazing and super personable and helpful. Great place. Clean, fast, amazing food, locally sourced and scratch made
Solid food, awesome atmosphere. They have a game room, bar side, and more fine dinning side. Certainly a good place to go out with a group of friends to start out a night on the town.
Big space and lots of good beers. Flights available. Friendly staff.
Have been here a couple of times. The last time was on April 13. Unfortunately, both times were with a larger group. To give it a solid review, it probably would be best to come back as a two top. Regardless, both visits - once with a group of 12 and the last time with a reserved area with about 25 people - were completely unimpressive. Smaller group, service was slower than expected. Larger group - service was completely absent. People were finished with their meals and ready to leave before the last in the group actually even got their food. Servers were completely absent for most of the duration, drinks went unfilled - would very likely have ordered more drinks - and possibly more food if the service had been anywhere NEAR reasonable. All I can say is that Im glad it wasnt MY birthday party that Id setup here - I would have been raising h*ll.The food - was NOT bad. Had the buffalo chicken egg rolls and steak frites I believe... actually had a NUMBER of things as we did share around the table. If the service had been anywhere close to inline, this would have probably been an easy 4 for me.DO like that they have parking in the back - which makes it far more accessible than most of the other places downtown Raleigh where you end up driving around looking for someplace to park or having to park blocks away. WILL likely give this a try at some point with just the wife - but you can be assured, I would NEVER come here for more than a 4 top.
I went in early evening so the place was pretty empty which was great because we had full access to the bar and the game room. Love the Hoop Shoot game, skee ball, and free darts. Great beer selection too!
Great place to visit if youre from out of town like I was.
Staff not overly friendly, good beer selection though.
His restaurant is huge with a long bar and a ton of seating. Any game that is on tv they seem to carry. I had the jalapeño chicken sandwich with tobacco onions as my side dish. Sandwich was very good. It was a little spicy, a little salty and a tinge of sweetness. The tobacco onions were think onion rings and were nothing to write home about. Great 80s music was playing in the background. This place is great for meeting friends or family. If there was a negative, it would be our server took forever on everything. Not a reason to not go back. Definitely recommend.
Large Beer Selection, also pretty awesome food choices!
I enjoyed it. The overall experience was pleasant and felt warm regards from the staff.Nice atmosphere and accommodating.Would recommend.
Here for a college football watch party and the food was great! The staff also did a good job of managing the number of people in our party since we were in a private room. It took a little while to get the checks, but no other complaints. Ill def go back.
My company, Piedmont Service Group had an event at Tabacco Road and it awesome!!
Great place for watching sporting events and playing games. Nice selection of food and drinks, fresh beers from their own in house brewery, and the staff is terrific!
