Had high expectations. Reserved over 1 yr in advance and paid $2800.00 for services at our wedding. He showed up last minute, unprepared and without a plan AND IN A TERRIBLE MOOD! He was snappy to wedding planner and family members and wedding party. He was the only vendor we got negative comments about. Felt like we werent important, felt like I was pulling teeth for communication and planning. DJ did not start playing my procession song until I was all the way down the aisle. I was so embarrassed to walk to silence! Im being generous with 3 stars because you never know whats going on in someone elses life...?Updated to 1 star due to the EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL and downright hateful response i got from an honest review. Unfortunate, because we splurged so much on this part of our wedding because I thought we were paying for exception planning, communication and above all - a positive attitude. It rained for 15 min before our ceremony, and then was gorgeous, sunny skies for the ceremony and the rest of the night, all my wedding photos to prove it.

Matt is a great DJ who was able to make the wedding one of a kind. His sound system and light system is out of this world. Thank you Matt for making our day lit!! We will recommend him to all our friends in the surrounding area when they need a DJ or entertainment professional.

Summery (full story below):DJ was swapped out last minute, and was not professionalPlayed the wrong FIRST dance song, and many others that were carefully planned.Sound system was not tested prior to my group arriving, and there were sound issues that caused crackling during any song with base.HIGHLY DISAPPOINTEDWe hired Ultra Mix Events for our wedding last June (2019). I waited to write this review to ensure I thought through my feedback thoroughly, and a year later it is still on my mind.When I think of our wedding day I think about how perfect it was EXCEPT for our DJ experience. We hired Matt, based on his strong reviews and were very excited to have him DJ our wedding. We prepared a very thoughtful list of songs and the timeline.The week before our wedding, Matt informed us he had another commitment and was going to switch us to a different DJ. I was not thrilled, but understood things happen. I asked Matt to give us confidence he was still providing a great DJ. He said this guy was great.In short, the DJ showed up to our prep meeting unprepared and on the day of my wedding the system had not been tested (resulting in the sound being really bad and crackling during any base), he played the wrong song on multiple occasions including OUR FIRST DANCE! He was not engaging with our group and did not present himself as a true professional.We could not be more disappointed in Matts decision to swap us out so close to the wedding and not provide a proven resource as a replacement. I hope for Matt this was a rare happening and not reflective of the true value he brings to the industry. While we cannot go back in time and fix the disaster that was our DJ experience, Matt can learn from this to keep his commitments and provide the level of service his customers expect and are paying a premium for....on one of the most special days in their life.

PERFECT! Matt was so helpful and professional throughout the whole planning process. Unfortunately, he was already booked for the day of our event but thankfully has a team of excellent DJs! Ultra Mix Events did the cold sparklers at my wedding reception at the Hilton Charlotte City Center, and they were absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Matt was extremely easy to work with and his staff was able to coordinate with our vendors/hotel and follow all of our prompts for when we wanted to use them. The cold sparklers looked great and were completely safe for our wedding guests of about 500 people and hotel staff. We will definitely use Ultra Mix for our upcoming events in the future.

We used Matt for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. We could not have asked for a better DJ!! He followed all of our requests exactly as we asked. He nailed our requested announcements – some were long-winded, some were humorous and witty, and some were sharp to keep the party moving along. He reviewed our playlist(s) and made suggestions, blended and mixed different parts, and adjusted throughout the day to extend songs which were crowd pleasers and cut short any songs that weren’t. Matt Butterworth DJed my wedding and absolutely killed it. Everything was perfect. He made the night progress smoothly and then (at our request) turned the last 2 hours of our reception into a an amazing EDM set. He was professional and courteous. He did everything we asked of him and more. People say the one part of your wedding you shouldnt compromise on is your DJ and Matt absolutely delivered. Matt the owner of ultra mix events is hands down the best DJ you could ask for! I actually found him through an add on Facebook! I was hesitant at first as I had not known anyone who had used him before. However I reached out to him & quickly knew that he was perfect for our wedding after messaging him about ideas!I was not only looking for a DJ but for someone who could also help transform our venue space to represent our ideal vision! Matt along with one of his partners Mike did just that! They did everything I asked for plus more! They put up white pipe & drapes along with twinkle lights & pink up lights around the entire room to give it a soft & romantic feel for the ceremony space! It was BEAUTIFUL!!! Just what I had visioned & explained to them I wanted!They also did the uplighting for our reception space & Matts DJ set up was so nice!! They ALSO provided a photo booth which included fun props & a photo album that Mike helped put together with the 2nd copy of each photo that was taken!!Matt went above & beyond as our DJ for the night! He played every one of our requested songs! He was so organized & on top of everything from ceremony to our entrance announcements, first dances & games!! And to top it off at the end of the night when we were having a blast on the dance floor he kept going. Past our allotted time we had him for!
