The actual employee at Duke Energy who helped me was very nice and was able to easily process my request in a short amount of time. However, they forced me to be forwarded to a 3rd party partner for service confirmation. I was stuck on the phone with some guy trying to sell me things I did not need for a solid 15 minutes, even after telling him repeatedly that all I wanted was confirmation of my service request. As consumers, we should not be forced to sit through solicitation like that unless we volunteer our time. It was a ridiculous experience.
It is impossible to give less than one star. I avoid one because usually the worst experience is two. They broke the glass floor. They use Equifax which is already the worst of the three credit bureaus. They use telephone numbers to verify accounts which are notoriously inaccurate and outdated. They expect you to resolve their failure which you had no choice in causing the problem. No solution because it is a monopoly and welcome to deregulation if there was any to begin with.
