Fun zoo that lets you get close up with the animals. It was easy to walk through & all the animals seemed happy. There was a wedding taking place the day we went. It looked like a nice venue.Being located on the lake made for a great backdrop. It was cloudy when we first got there but the sun came out & it warmed up. The breeze from the lake made it very comfortable! The sounds of the waves were very refreshing!Being able to walk through the kangaroo enclosure was so fun! It was my favorite part of the experience!
My kids loved the Christmas lights! Racine Zoo is a bit smaller, but we love the location and the price. Its very easy to navigate with young kids.
Small wonderful zoo only $10.00 per adult. Restaurant and gift shop. Smooth paths that are tarmac and concrete make it very barefoot friendly.
Whats not to love more? Christmas lights and a 9 year old grandchild!! Good music and well placed lightsAnother fine job here in Racine!!
Its a nice zoo kind of small. Was upset because the giraffes were not out due to construction being done on their site but they did not disclose that on their website.
Ive been coming to the Racine Zoo for almost 40 years now, and its still amazing. Its such a great value and some pretty great views as well. Covid has been it a bit awkward but still a blast none the less.
Such a sweet little zoo! Better than the big zoos I feel. We were able to pet kangaroos, emu, goats, pig, sheep. We fed parakeets and giraffe too! Super inexpensive, but also didnt have too many animals. Right on the beach so it makes for beautiful views and a great experience!
Very up close and intimate experience with the animals, the keepers take great care of them and a great place to bring your family. Looking forward to our next visit!
Great small zoo in Racine area - we coming back here for years while camping nearby. Must go place if you have kids for sure. Lions, tigers, bears.Clean and descent smell :)
Lovely place. Doing light shows for holidays. $5 for a classy experience great time. Will go again
Small zoo, but beautiful. Apparently holds elaborate events, too.
We did the igloos. Our group had a lot of fun. The staff who came in and showed us our animal (we had a snake ) was very nice. She took her time and let us all take pictures. She answered every question and gave us some facts about the snake and even told us about the zoo and where the animals were kept in the winter. Great food, great service, great experience. I would 100% recommend doing the igloos.
The Racine Zoo is a quaint little zoo. Its very kid friendly and easy to walk in a short amount of time.I thought it was really cool that you could walk right into the kangaroo enclosure and have them walk and hop all around you. Ive never seen that before. My grandson really loved that. They dont have a ton of animals but the ones they do have are the ones that kids are most interested in: lions, tigers, giraffes, rhinos, penguins, and of course, kangaroos.
Excellent place for family they let you feed the birds and pet some of the animals
The Halloween Glow drive thru was so cool! It was a much needed experience with everything being shut down or restricted during the pandemic. For the price, you couldnt beat it, and to get a trick or treat gift bag at the end! We drove from out of town and will definitely be coming back for the christmas lights! Thanks Racine Zoo!
This was such a fantastic deal for the price. While the zoo was on the smaller side, it offered very intimate interactions with the animals that you wont find at a larger zoo. Their reptiles were especially friendly, which I have yet to see in other public observatories, and I was also thrilled that we were able to not only get so close to the lions but also that they were so interactive. For $4 military admission, this is just such an excellent experience. To top it off, their gift shop was not outrageously priced either. We will definitely be returning.
Kids loved this place. A beautiful day out!
Very much enjoyed the Halloween display...So many lights..done so well...Spaced nicely so you could see all..Happy we went.
From what I saw of it this was a nice place. I didnt get to go far as we were there for the bloody mary and old fashion festival
We had a blast today with my son, saw some cool animals! Cant wait for everything to be back open in the future.
Great place to visit especially with children. The bird exhibit was really fun with baby Dylan. He loved feeding the birds! Bring a lunch though the food and drinks are very expensive but the $8 adult cost to get in is definitely worth it. Well be back!
This zoo was a very nice zoo. Most of the animals were awake. You get more of a one on one encounter with them too. I definitely recommend it even if its a smaller zoo.
My little guy loved it. Hes only 8 months old and I loved that it wasnt overwhelming. Easy to get around and the walk through area where you can be close to the animals was so much fun.
Love the zoo. Small but good variety of animals, beautiful grounds with a view of Lake Michigan, friendly staff who do a great job of keeping visitors mask compliant, not crowded, great price. Hot weather moderated by the cool lake breeze. What more can I ask for?
Very nice format with the social distancing still in effect. Took my daugter there for the first time and we had such a good time. Always love coming here.
Probably the best little zoo in the whole Midwest. The zoo is big enough for kids to enjoy and small enough that they wont get over stimulated and tired. The price is very reasonable with rates of $4,for adults and $3 for children. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The animals are on display at all times and very close to the spectators. There is a walk about exhibit that allows people to have the animals come right up to them. Very fun and the view of lake Michigan alone is worth the price of admission.
Great walk, for kids and family, fun time seeing the animals, and very clean
I love the new ideas they come up with and the Halloween display was so creative and smart. We will go again.
Much better than it used to be. They actually have animals now. The zoo is no longer run down. Great place to take the kids.
Went here for the CNH employee/retiree picnic. Stayed to see the animals and the gift shop. Havent been here since I was a kid - theyve improved it a lot, Im glad to see that theyre cleaning up more regularly than they did when I came as a kid. It doesnt stink anymore.
Even with half of the zoo still closed it was well worth three five dollar entrance fee to stretch our legs and see three animals available!
Great place to take the little kids to get a closer look at animals of all types. I will definitely recommend you to go see the lions and giraffes exhibits.. plus bring bug stray and money for souvenirs too.
We loved coming to this zoo. It was very beautiful and right off the lake. It is set on 28 acres and hosts a diverse variety of animals that we did not expect to see. It is fairly handicap accessible, but there were a few obstacles and places that someone in a wheelchair would not be able to see. Overall it was a beautiful campus with well maintained walkways. You can pet giraffes, go for a train ride, and pet goats!
Proper social distancing, even from the animals themselves. The zoo keepers were very friendly - I actually sat and discussed a few things with one of them while feeding the birds in the aviary. The animals appear to be well cared for and healthy. Masks are required and the cafes are open. The petting zoo and playgrounds are currently closed, though.
Friendly staff. Easy to walk this zoo with little ones. Loved seeing the black rhinos and giraffes.
We went up for the Lantern Festival, had a great time! A little cold on the lakefront, but we came prepared - hoodies w/winter coats over, Long Johns & jeans, gloves & hats. It was 36 degrees, but with the dampness from the lake...
We had a great time, as always. Our 8 year old always really enjoys the playground. We have been there often enough that the animals seem like old friends.
It was very nice, laid back, friendly, clean. Kids loved it
Good place to take a walk and see the animals. Its not busy on the Sunday that we came. Its a good inexpensive place to take the family. Adult $8 and Child (Until 15) $6.
Always a pleasure visiting the zoo, todays visit was work but still great.
Halloween Night light show is amazing! Well worth the trip.
Theyre doing their best with everything going on. The one way traffic was clear and a great idea so a trip to the zoo was possible at all. Hopefully they can safely open the indoor spaces soon so more animals can be seen.
Fun Fathers Day at the Zoo. First time here and its a nice Zoo for the Family. Small yes, but not the craziness you get at the larger zoos. Parked with 100yrds of the entrance even. Lots a families with small kiddos.
Love this Zoo! Park like setting, right on lake Michigan!
Love it! Im from indonesia, and i was visiting this place few years ago.
My day with my girls was great !!! If you have never been there, I highly recommend!!! Not a big zoo, but very pretty and lots to see.
Covid restrictions require masks for ages over 3. But aside from that, enjoyable, animals were active and very courteous guides stationed around the zoo. All very helpful.
I love this zoo. Its small enough to make a complete circuit in just a couple hours, but with small kids, thats a blessing. My kids enjoyed feeding the parakeets, and Im looking forward to them being old enough to feed the giraffes.
The drive through Christmas lights were great
Still a great place even with covid rules in place. Pick a cooler day because a mask is required, no building entry but most animals are out, shortened hours, no playground use, the grill is open for concession with limited hours, but you are allowed to bring in food & beverage. The train ride is open & you can always make it a complete day and hit North Beach as well!
Not a whole lot going on here now, with covid paranoia happening, my 2 grandkids enjoyed it, but isnt anything like I remembered from 25yrs ago sence I last been there.
Excellent Place to go 4 a summer day to relax and have up close encounters w/some of the animals. The Parrots actually talk too! They said HELLO & MY nickname Coco. Hows that 4 a zoo day
The place is very nice. Only one lady from the zoo told her to put on a face mask. I told her that my daughter has asthma and it is hard for her to breathe. She made me go somewhere or put on a mask. I felt sad that I had to go home quickly from the zoo.️️️️
Awesome zoo at an awesome price! Love that theyre on the ball in different ways to cut down on plastic! Adorable animals. Fun playground for the kids and a beautiful setting! Must go!
Nice light show. Quick line.
Fabulous small zoo - enjoyed the experience!
Decent for a smaller zoo. Exhibits are smaller with less of a selection of animals, but I would recommend for a short, partial day trip.
This is such a cute zoo, that I had no idea existed until Saturday. I attended the Pancakes With Penguins event Saturday morning, then walked around the zoo with my Aunt and uncle. We had so much fun. It was a perfect way to spend a fall Saturday afternoon.
Beautiful small zoo right on Lake Michigan. Highly recommend the rhino and giraffe experiences where you get to feed them! All staff well informed and very friendly.
We did the halloween drive through and it was fantastic!
Price is way too much for the 5 minutes of a drive they the zoo path. Not even close to worth it
Really a nice little zoo. Animals & grounds seem well-cared for and they seem to have new exhibits fairly often. People are always surprised when I tell them Racine has a zoo.
Chinese Lantern exhibit at Racine Zoo was gorgeous. Well organized and staff was so friendly and polite.
Had such a great time. The family and I loved this zoo and at such a beautiful location right next to Lake Michigan. The staff are very nice and welcoming.
They have all kinds of events at the zoo. Be sure to check out the Chinese lantern event running thru dec 2019.
It is a smaller zoo but had some really cool exhibits and encounters.
Very cute little zoo. We couldnt see all the animals today as some were inside and today was outdoor Safari day. Still worth going. Great experience for the little ones.
The lantern festival was so beautiful. I highly recommend it! But its only there til the 31st so hurry!!
Loved how close we were to the animals. Especially loved the Giraffe and Kangaroos.
Great local zoo!! Perfect to spend a couple hours
Small zoo with awesome features including a playground.
Ok zoo worth the retroprosity discount, medium sized zoo. Kids liked it but there is a good amount of distance between exhibits. Its interesting that they have Andean Bear and Caucasian Tur (goat). But nothing else exotic that stands from other zoos. You can feed giraffes but they are tucked away at the back of the zoo. You can see the lake from the zoo and its a well kept. It would be a nice place to have a picnic.
Small but always a good place to go for the day
I have attended similar Lantern displays in Milwaukee yet even as the Racine Zoo doesnt have near the size of other area displays, somehow it felt larger and even more spectacular. Exceptionally well done. It shouldnt be missed.
Was fun lots of buildings still closed disappointed couldnt see a lot didnt inform us parking lot next to lake. But definitely would return just not when have to wear a mask was cross with us about no mask on our sensory child who was 3.
Family oriented, nice staff. Fair prices.
The place was clean and nice however, there is a 10 admission and less to see than when it wS free. What happened to all the animals?
Small place but pretty nice and clean!!!
Spaced out nicely and animals all seemed happy.
Giving this zoo a 2 stars instead of one star because of the few good animals. A little underwhelming with the selection of exhibits. The lady selling the tickets was rude. The good thing is that overall the zoo is clean.
Had a wonderful time at Zoo Lights. Absolutely beautiful display of Chinese lantern in the life size shapes of animals, huge dragons, flowers, butterflies. It was breathtaking. Prices were very reasonable. Cant wait for next year.
Great zoo with lots of eye catching exhibits. The animals are usually easy to spot and active which makes them more entertaining.
Always good clean family time
Its a nice small zoo. Cheap admission and friendly staff. The winter rate is cheaper because some of the animals are away for the colder weather, which is perfectly understandable and makes sense.
The Racine zoo is a nice small little zoo perfect for families to see a few zoo animals in a short amount of time. Make sure to check out the large African Lions, Amur Tiger, Orangutan, and Bears. The large playground is really nice, a good break for kids to get their wiggles out. Unfortunately we visited in March when most of the animals were not out and not available to be seen (penguins, giraffe, rino, fox, owl, and other birds). The zoo is right on Lake Michigan, so make sure to bring a jacket if its fall or spring and a pair of gloves in the winter with the breeze off of the lake. The zoo staff are friendly and helpful. I know this would be a great zoo to visit in the warmer months when all of the animals are out. I definitely recommend the zoo for families to visit!
Cool place. Fun for kids too
Really nice cute and clean zoo
Great little zoo right on the lake.
I dont hate it, I just feel bad for enclosed animals
Its just ok. Will not come back for second time. Not many animals.
Wonderful time seeing the Chinese lanterns. Simply amazing
Most disappointed, when I paid the $8.00 per person to get in, it would have been nice to be informed most of the animals were not on display. I understand it is only 28° outside, and when we were leaving ask the young lady who gladly took my money, why they were not on display she explained it was to cold. Good to know after the fact!!
Amazing, quiet jewel. Keep it amongst ourselves ️️️
Great for a few hours with the kids. They have a great park to play at, enough animals to keep their attention, yet small enough that you can see everything in a couple hrs. Plus, the Watering Hole serves beer!
Zoos generally make me sad. This one was no exception. The fruit bat exhibit, for example, has a terrible roach infestation.... theyre everywhere in there. It was lovely seeing rare animals, however, and since its the middle of winter the roos and wallabys werent out, neither were many others. The make lion had an illness that was being treated and next to him was a Fossa.... If youve never seen one, go see this one. Hes a cool guy with enormous eyes and he just hangs out. Plus the orangutans came up to say hey. Overall it was with the $4 to get in.
Cute zoo. Friendly staff.
We love the lions here and love to watch how they are cared for. Ive always had mixed feelings about zoos in general ( the captivity of wild animals not wanting to live in a cage for life). My first visit here was a turn off, i thought it was small, and the animals looked depressed. I talked with my husband about it and he suggested i give it another go, only this time asking lots of questions about each animal. I was surprised and impressed to find out the animals are rescues and they do not breed. We really like this zoo now, are members and are backing the education they do. We love you little Racine Zoo!!!
