Awesome experience! So much to learn, and a humbling experience first hand of the beautiful spirit of Yavapai nation, in a serene environment. Ms. Andrews and staff are very kind and knowledgeable, well able to keep the kids interested (even teenagers!!!). Indian tea, which is available for tasting, was a real treat! Its absolutely a hidden treasure of the former Arizona territory capital. And if you can support them it will be a money well spent.
Its a wonderful place to wander around in. Lots of antiquities and more modern stuff. A great little gift shop too.
The staff are family and I love how much they have turned this museum around. They continuously strive to bring a positive experience to those who visit.
One of my favorite locations in Prescott. Rich history and nice people. Gift shop is nice and has no taxes because its a non-profit
This museum will take you anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours depending on how much you do/dont read. They give you pamphlets that have additional info on the display youre looking at. We went on a Wednesday during covid-19 so there wasnt really anyone there so the volunteer basically gave us a guided tour which was super cool! During covid-19 they may be closed due to staffing so be sure to call ahead.
This place has some wonderful displays. Worth checking out.
Love this place. Finally got a membership. So disappointed about rug auction having to be cancelled. I need to be hooked up with someone to buy one from please. 5 x 7 or larger.
Genuine and very interesting in terms of history
Front sign says open and we found the doors closed during regular hours. Waste of time and gas.
Julia, the volunteer, was hospitable and fun to talk to. The museum was well laid out. The tags or signage was easy to read and left me wanting to learn more. Will return again and again. So glad I am local.
Neet place to check out.
Very well laid out. Excellent artifacts and informative docent.
Very interesting museum with tons of art and pottery from the local Native peoples. The history presented is very intriguing and shows nicely the way of life in the area before European contact.
It was closed when we got there. We asked around and nobody knew why. Prescott Visitirs center also didnt know they were closed nor why they were closed. Too bad cause we really wanted to see it ... Next time hopefully they will be open! Call in advance, dont go with Google info ..
Interesting relics of early Native American cultures. Pots, Kachina dolls, bows, arrows, etc. Small museum, sincere docents to talk about displays.
The American Indians hold a special place in our history. They have been mystified, villified, abused, and admired. For most Americans, they are less understood than we imagine. How a collective people who are so straightforward, can be so enigmatic is difficult to understand. The Smoki Museum is a superb facility that offers visitors a window into the customs, history, lives, and lore of the native Americans of the southwest. This is a must see museum for anyone with an interest in the people who were and are the first Americans.Allow yourself at least a couple of hours to see what this wonderful museum has to show and share with you. If you live in Arizona, you need to visit the Smoki Museum to expand your knowledge of our state and the southwest.
Awesome exhibits very friendly and knowledgeable staff!
This is a really neat museum that shows some of the history between whites and Native Americans. You can see old artifacts and newer costumes and appropriated ceremony wear. There is a lot of various pottery dating back to 1100 AD as well as hunting spears and even woven sandals.I had no idea about the Smoki guys who used Native culture to save their rodeo. Its interesting history. I left with mixed emotions.Oh and the building is beautiful!
This place was just amazing. Learning all these different cultures that till now are still active.
Really interesting history ( and not what you would expect - no spoilers) and good exhibits for a small musuem. Strongly advise a guided tour.
One city block of bars, pubs, shops, with The Palace saloon in the middle of the activity. The Palace has swinging doors, a great 50 foot original antique bar & a miniature museum of territorial Arizona. Also served as a locale for scenes in a Steve McQueen western movie Junior Bonner. Great shops along the street with beautiful Indian jewelry & many gift shops as well a hotel with restaurant, St. Michaels, where Doc Holiday had his dentist office on the 2nd floor. Very historic street with much to see & do-including dancing!
Awesome staff, fascinating place, the kids loved the museum bingo.
Very educational and cool artifacts
An awesome museum that promotes the understanding of indigenous cultures of the southwestern United States.
Excellent museum with lots of artifacts. The staff is very knowledgeable. Very nice gift shop.
Julie was very informative and extremely nice

If you like Indian artifacts then youll love this museum.
Loved it and the American people it displays art from
Very interesting. Amazing how far back some of the artifacts date. A little disturbed by the history of the Smoki but not surprised.
Small but interesting Indian museum. They have different events during the year. I went to a small Indian Christmas art/craft fair.
Excellent museum. Great hostess also.
Staff very friendly and knowledgible. Even provided a wheelchair for my father. Lots of great artifacts.
Staff explained everything. So interesting. Inexpensive too.
We spent much more time at the Smoki Museum than we expected. It was fascinating. The staff was so informational and helpful, too.
Excellent gift shop. Was impressed by its authenticity.
Complicated history thats nothing to be proud of but the new installations on cultural appropriation, lost and stolen culture of the fake Smoki, and their efforts to have an exhibition of, by, and for the local native community seemed like a big step in the right direction
Awesome people. Great visit.
Nice museum that helps visitors understand more about the Native American people and culture.
Bruce was very knowledgeable and added to our overall experience. We would highly recommend a visit here.
Cool place
We are from Canada and never had a clue about this snapshot of Arizona history. Very intriguing...
Pleasant staff and interesting exhibits.
Love this place for Native history
Odd and worthwhile, if only to learn more about the history of the white man in Prescott. Interesting collection of local Native American artifacts, too.
The time to visit is when they have their art show. Then you get the art show plus the museum. Museum is small but the staff is nice and helpful.
