My grandson had his birthday party here and all the children that attended had a fun time!All of the grown-ups had a special partitioned backroom area in which to sit, talk and eat the food. However, you must supply your own food, cake, drinks and decorations.I highly recommend taking young children to this place. They have a bunch of kid-friendly playrooms, such as a kitchen, pizzeria, post office and much more. A lot of kids enjoy the fire truck and equipment too.

Such a great museum for children. My kids are 3 and under and they had a blast. There is so many different rooms and things for them to do. Love how they make science interesting. Also bathrooms are child friendly with step stool and they have a healthy snack machine which I have not seen before. I highly recommend this museum and cant wait to go back!

My son loves it here. We have a membership (which I highly recommend as you save a lot if you go more than twice a year). Great location with really pretty views. We walk along the Hudson River often. There is an elevator access up to the Walkway Over The Hudson, but its super high and Im not sure I could do it. Inside there are plenty of activities to keep a vast age group entertained. They have cute little shows and demonstrations throughout the month. Very wheelchair friendly as there is an elevator to get to the second exhibit floor. They rotate and add things constantly to keep it fresh for those who good often. We even had my sons 3rd birthday there and they were accommodating, decently priced and the cake was great!

Great for young kids!! This museum will definitely keep your kids entertained for a couple of hours. Its basically a touch museum for kids. They can touch everything in the museum. The kids can also run around, climb and go down slides there. For a place for kids, I give this place 5 stars!

The place may have a small footprint but they are packed with so many things to do for all ages. I definitely recommend this place it’s even better than the larger one we have in our hometown. The people are very friendly and the place is well kept they have two floors with stuff that ranges from highly technical to simple fun and make believe.

Fantastic and fun as always. We joined the Toddler Tour, last month was all about the train room. The kids learned some much. It was so much fun!

Such a great place! We were visiting from North Carolina, and my almost two year old had a great time. The staff is so nice and helpful. Being the son of a fireman, he especially loved the fire station area.

We were in town to see family for Thanksgiving and took our nearly three-year-old to visit this place, and he loved it! He spent most of the first hour on the first floor sending colored handkerchiefs up the pneumatic tubes, then we got him up to the next floor where the slide, the pirate ship, and the STEM exhibit were. He loved it so much he asked for Museum! for three days after, so the day before we left we brought him back for three hours, and he tired himself out. Well worth a visit if youre in Poughkeepsie with small children.

Amazing! My child is under 2 and enjoyed everything there! Entertaining for children and parents. Bring a significant other if your are able, some of the activities are pretty fun for parents as well!

Wonderful experience. Plenty of room & so many activities. Seating available for those that need to sit. Dining area with a view of the kids, and I liked all those that were there today were so polite and curious.

My little one loved it. Without her I think I would have been bored..Any kid would love this place to discover science and movement and manipulating of cool objects. Every kid there had a big smile and was engaged.

Great little children museum. Kids had a blast.

At first glance it doesnt look like much however my grandson had a blast! He is very shy so at first he wasnt sure what to do so I took the lead and after a few minutes he was exploring, socializing and learning. There are many hands on things for younger children to do and the employees are easy going and friendly. The farmers market after play time was a bonus.

This is a really great place to bring children of any age. My daughter was a little over a year and we played with a four year old. Both of them had a blast. We stayed about 4 hours, they spent the entire time excited and playing.

My 2 year old loves this museum. I enjoy seeing him running around getting into different things and learning tons through play and exploration. When I go to this museum I make sure I make it an all day affair because a few hours just simply isnt enough time for the kiddos to explore it all. Highly recommend.

The museum is a great place for small children. My soon to be 2 1/2 yr old grandson loves it and asks to go there every day we are with him. We became members and the benefits are very generous. The staff members we have met are all knowledgeable, friendly and anxious to help. My grandson doesnt have much contact with children his age so this place is great for him to socialize and learn to share and play with others. The location, on the waterfront, is another plus.

A great place for young children, right on the river with walking paths. Were there for over 2 hours and could have stayed longer. Much to do, creative and they have special events (the day we were there was a snack making event). It can be pricey if you have a large family....our library use to have a guest tag but the museum stopped this - hope you start it up again (hence the 4 stars)!

Located right in front of the Hudson waterfront, plenty of nice walking areas around and they have gated parking. Really awesome and inviting staff, the inside has all the things toddlers love playing with. They keep the inside very clean and organized. Its also very nice that they let military families in for free from Memorial day until Labor day. Highly recommend thia place.

This museum was awesome! My four year old had a blast. There are many exhibits to try out and lots of them are STEM based. He also liked the climbing structures and slides on the second floor. We will definitely be back when were in the area.

Amazing. Great place for crawling kids to about 5-7. Costumes. Math. Science. Etc. Kids play without realizing theyre learning. If your child receives Medicaid you can also pay $2 admission/ each individual for up to a group of 4. Definitely an amazing day. Your child gets to water vegetables in the garden as well. Hours of activities for a low price. Plus, there is a playground, stream, walkway and restaurant within walking distance. Perfect day out. Highly recommened.

We had our daughter’s 3rd birthday party here on Saturday. It was hands down the best kids birthday ever!! Josie handled everything from the decorations to the set up to the cake and cleanup!! The kids all had the best time and all cried when we had to leave. Lol!! They did a great craft and the goody bags they gave out were amazing. There is no doubt we will do her fourth birthday here again!! Thanks again Josie and the Children’s Museum!!!!!!

Though I wouldnt call it a Museum, its a great place!Small but well equipped it will provide children between 2 and 13 with a rich learning challenge. From basic playing to somewhat sophisticated science, this place has something for everyone.Take a well prepared snack because theres not much on site.Dont miss it.

This place isn’t as large as others we have been to... but they have so much to do! My children had a blast and we will make sure to come back every time we visit Poughkeepsie!

Excellent place to entertain kids. We took a 1, 3 and 5 year old and they all had a good time. All the exhibits are hands on and very cool. My inner kid wanted to play too.

We went on a free Saturday, and the place is great!!! Two floors of tons of cool things to do! Will definitely take the kids again! This is for kids 10 and younger.

Great place for children up to age 7 or 8. Lots of interactive things to do. Small place so it makes it easy to keep track of your children. Staff is friendly. Would recommend for a fun morning or afternoon activity.

Very affordable and fun places for parents and children.

This is a lovely little childrens museum which has made some really solid improvements over the years. The baby play area is nice, and all the pretend play areas downstairs are so great. Upstairs is more STEM focused, and a lot of it is quite new. We make a point to take our 3 kids every time we visit, and they never tire of this place.

Wonderful time climbing obstacles, playing with sensory toys. We made a whole day of it and had a picnic on the hudson.

Wonderful play museum for kiddos! A little on the small side, but it also helps parents to be able to see them. Great sensory and play items and keeps them busy for hours! They also have a free night (third Saturday between 5-8).

Every time we are in the area we make this a must visit for the kids. They always find something new to enjoy and cool for parents too!

My six year old had a great time, I would say maybe 6-8 is the top age for kids that would enjoy the children’s museum. There were a lot of younger toddlers that looked like they were having a great time! The front desk worker was less polite than you would expect for a children’s museum.

Really nice museum for kids. Kept my 2 nephews busy for about 2 hours.

It was a first visit & we all had fun. There were lots of options for the children to play in, on, with etc. It was full of friendly children, sharing & having fun. We were there for quite some time (hard to get my grandson to leave) & didnt see or hear of any problems. We will be going back there & recommend it to friends.

A very cute space with a great river view. My 3 year old had plenty of fun on both levels. I am sure we spent about 2 hours there trying different things and letting him play. Parking is easy, and the staff is very friendly. We will definitely be back, and we are considering joining.

It’s great if your local but would not recommend if your over an hour away. Museum has very little for kids who are over 6 years old. Two floors that do not really get a child’s science imagination rolling. Would not recommend this to anyone not sure if they sanitize any of the items doesn’t seem like they do. Take food if you plan I’m heading over.

We visited for the 1st time with our son & grandson who really enjoyed all the different things to do. A really good place to take kids.

Has cute stuff for the kids but I think it’s absolutely ridiculous that they charge for adults. Every other children’s play place I know of only charges for children. Also, the young lady working the desk on January 8, 2019 at 12:30 pm was not very kind or reasonable. I had a pass from my local library that allows two adults and their children into the museum for free. The pass states that the adults must live at the same address, however I left my wallet at home and could not prove my residence was the same as my husband’s. The lady refused to allow both of us to enter for free with the pass, despite the fact that our children were clearly calling us mom and dad. Some people just take their jobs a bit too seriously and need more training in customer service. I am very disappointed with this visit. With a little more consideration from the lady, we could have had a much more pleasant experience.

Who needs Disney when we have the MH Childrens museum? My kids love this place! There are pretend play areas my little ones enjoy, and STEM displays my older ones love. My fave is the full-sized Mastodon skeleton that greets us as we walk upstairs. My only critique is the price. Its $9 per adult. A family rate would maybe make more sense.

GREAT place for kids. It is like a huge indoor playground that brings children of all ages together to play, mingle, but more importantly- learn!It is both a playground for the mind and body. Teaches kids about tools, job professions, building, counting etc.My 7 year old son, befriended a 4 year old girl who knew her way around the building. She showed him all around, and they even worked together to build a little car out of wood, plastic, and rope for the seatbelt. They pushed each other around on itThe cutest thing Ive seen in ages..

The boys had a fun time here. They have 2 floors and it was not crowded. Fun toys to play with. It was 36 dollars for my wife, my 2 boys and me. We stayed for about 2 1/2 hours while they played.

Its a fun place to take the kids, I went thru a feild trip with my daughters school... the school paid for all the kids and parnets... I went again on my own, and it was only $10 kids and adults. Fun for a few hours then its time to go

What to say about this place. I had very high expectations from what I heard about this place. But I was let down greatly. me and my son went their today and for the price and what they offer it is a let down. Its very small you could tell alot of the stuff was broken or missing parts I was very let down. It cost me and my son 20.00 to get in which is over priced what you guys offer. The buffalo science museum which could legit fit about 20 of the childrens museum inside of it would have only cost me 23.00 and the amount of interactive stuff they have compared to the childrens museum is like night and day

This is a good place for kids. It is a bit smaller than I expected and on the expensive side but the kids had fun for two hours playing dress up and with the different exhibits.

It was a nice, clean and fun place. You can bring food in with you so long as you sit in the cafe; they of course request that you avoid common allergens. There was a nice looking River Walk thing outside but it was raining when we went. Overall great time

This museum was much better in 2009 and before. I went here when I was a little kid, and its obviously meant for kids 6 and under. I havent been here since 2014, when I was nine, but from what I saw of it then, it was definitely going down hill

Great place on a cold day! My 7 and 5 year olds both found lots of fun and engaging activities to do. It helped that I was excited to support their building since some of it is actually challenging. We all had a great time.

Check with your local library to see if they have free museum passes for MHCM. Classes at the museum are affordable and educational.

This is a great hands on childrens museum. So many fun things for kids to explore. I love the STEM themed activities.

Hudson Valley is very fortunate to have such an amazing place for children. I have seen the journey of the museum since 2009, and let me tell you - it keeps on getting better. They did a complete make-over several years ago: building renovations and new exhibits, more focused on hands-on explorations and thinking skills. I love that their exhibits do not have clear directions - often the only limit is your kids imagination. They also removed all electronic-based activities, e.g. computer screens of any kind - and I love it! Its truly a breath of fresh air for this day and age. We have have a membership since my oldest was one year old, and we will continue to renew every year, now at a premium level, that comes with extra perks. The membership pays off quickly, but most importantly we see it as an investment in our childrens cognitive and emotional development. Keep up a great work, and from our whole family - thank you.

If your child is over the age of 5 it is useless to visit this place.

Mid-Hudson Childrens Museum is a real gem on Poughkeepsies revitalized waterfront.

Great place to spend the day with your children.

We took our 4 yoand 6 yo grandsons to the museum and they loved it. They have been to the childrens museum in Raleigh, NC and this one is better in some way. While it is smaller, the educational aspectics are better and they had more fun.

This place is great for young ones. I also love that its a walk away from the Walkway Over the Hudson.

Best Childrens Museum weve been to in NY, NJ, PA. It isnt a large place, buy everything there is very engaging and you could easily spend 3 hours. Oh and your kids will have fun too!
