Very popular, busy spot downtown. Saturday night we arrived with no wait, although the upstairs seating was full, so we sat downstairs. Personally feel like we didn’t get the full experience of Thirsty Moose being downstairs. Downstairs is cold and dingy. Our waitress was great and very friendly, she answered our questions and gave good recommendations for other bars to visit. Overall food is good and a large beer selection. Definitely will continue to visit, I know I do enjoy the food and hopefully we can sit upstairs one day and really enjoy the Thirsty Moose atmosphere.

Great little bar. Not very busy, due to Covid, but a great selection of beer with quick, friendly service. Not the most attentive, but we had a great time and the pacing was adequate to keep up with our groups needs.

Incredible staff, tasty apps, great beer selection! Came here on a whim looking for some beers and snacks. The fried pickles app is huge and delicious, and the waiter had great beer tips. Would come back if I was in the area again!

Visited the Thirsty Moose in mid Feb 2019. Its a stereotypical, low light bar with big TVs, tons of beers and no-nonsense bar food. It was trivia night when I visited.The service was excellent. Quickly seated and served my beverage. Ordered two different drafts which came cold and quickly. They had a Mexican theme that night: $2 Tacos, $1 Chips & Salsa and $2 Coronas. I avoided the Corona but had the tacos and chips.Chicken tacos were pretty good but the beef tacos were better. Smothered in some Cholula hot sauce, these tacos were great considering the price.Id definitely recommend visiting the Thirsty Moose.

Nice spot. It has that colder industrial atmosphere. Lots of metal and concrete which is getting less and less unique. We sat at the bar. The food was great amd they had a great selection of beers. The bartender was also very knowledgeable and courteous.

Visiting from NY. Stopped for a quick bite... my husband had the Tuesday special a beer and a burger for $10 and I had the margarita pizza. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, the beer our server Nick recommended and the service. Price was also very reasonable!

Got the pizza wrong two times. Simple chicken, bacon topping. Then asked us if they could pick the onions off with their hands... But with gloves on. (Clearly what they did with the avocado previously on it). Ended up asking us if we could suffer through it for 50% off. Thank you for the offer but being lied to sucks. It was also a $20 small pizza for two toppings.

We went to watch the Bruins game for beverages and dinner. The atmosphere was great, however when there was a shift change we were never greeted by the new bartender, nor were we asked if wanted another beverage or to order food. The bartender was training and only the trainee recognized our glasses were empty. Once we got our new drinks we were never asked if we wanted food so we left to have dinner elsewhere. Not a great experience.

Awesome lunch. Dog friendly patio (unlike most we tried!) Really friendly and fun server. They’ve done a great job thinning out the inside for COVID and the bathrooms are spotless.

Katie is absolutely FANTASTIC. every need we had she met beyond standard with a smile on her face! I absolutely love her vibe and will definitely be back. Just for the positivity in the uncertain time and the laid back sense of humor she has. I urge everyone visiting the thirsty moose location to request Katie at your server!

After a long day in the sun, I stopped into the Thirsty Moose Taphouse for an ice cold beer and dinner. My server Meg was outstanding! She helped me choose a beer and a fantastic salad. I will most definitely be back.

Swung by here after work after a local recommend it. Great environment and excellent food. Had the seared tuna salad which was excellent. Wish I would have know of this place when I was here on previous buisness trips. Will be back here when Im in town.

Great watering hole, ton of beers on tap, plenty of good grub to choose from, two bars upstairs and one with live tunes downstairs.We stop here on our way up to our Maine cottage at least once a month. Lively bar, usually packed with college kids or tourists looking for a hopping spot.It’s a long narrow restaurant with plenty of bar room (fills up quick), high top tables (fill up quick), or standing room (also fills up quick). This place is the spot to be if your looking to turn up or pre gram. Tunes are always playing, ton of big TVs for the game, maybe 50 beers on draft, and the best smoked wings around.We started with a couple brews, I got a local IPA and switched over to heavy poured jack and coke, perfect. We got the wings (sauce on the side, saucing these is a true sin), added some moose rolls that were tasty, and really good buff chick dip. The grub was so good I forgot to snap pics.Service was great, bartenders are friendly and attentive but not bothersome.Only thing, parking can get rough cuz dtown Portsmouth can get craZy. But don’t let that stop you.

Katie was the absolute BEST server I can remember having in years. She was funny, friendly, personable, and an absolute joy--quick to come over with refills and suggestions, but not overbearing, never felt like she was rushing us and made the entire atmosphere lighter. Already loved Thirsty Moose for their great pretzels but will 100% be back because of Katie.

Good food, and a good variety on the menu here at the Thirsty Moose! I had the Reuben sandwich ($14), and my wife had Fish & Chips ($16). Both were excellent. (Sorry, my phone does not take good pictures. lol)

The trivia game night on Wednesday night was fun. Garlic knots were great. Good selection of beers.

Excellent beer selection. Most places have soooooo many IPAs and like 2 stouts and maybe a porter. The Cuban was delicious. The pickles still had a very slight cucumber taste. Even the fried pickles did. My boyfriend and I always get Reubens everywhere we eat (if theyre on the menu) and this one was not a disappointment. Theres a place in Rhode Island that serves very original Reubens thats been our favorite for a while. The thirsty moose is better in my opinion. My boyfriend agrees. The prices are decent. Good mixture of people. Staff was nice but not all in your face every 5 minutes. Only complaint is that its so dark we had to use our phone flashlight to read the menu.

This place has a cool outdoorsy atmosphere. They also have a great beer selection if anyone was wondering. Foods pretty good classic pub stuff.

Wings are always outstanding, haven’t had a flavor I haven’t enjoyed! Favorites: mango habanero, firestarter, Caribbean jerk. Blue cheese on point. (For the vegetables, wing sauces are too good on their own to taint) Moose Mac pizza is a real treat when you’re crushing barley sodas with the fellas. Service is always solid!

A good place to meet friends for drinks and snacks. A lot of TVs to watch your favorite New England games. A great music venue Friday & Saturday nights in the lower level.

I dont go for proceed good so this place never had a hope in my opinion. For those who do it may be true.

Huge sports bar with an even bigger beer list. Efficient service. Food is quite good for a grill but not spectacular. The chili was the best of the 4 different items we ordered. Very loud and bustling.

I went to the Thirsty Moose with one of my best friends, and had a great time. They had an amazing selection of beer. It was truly difficult to pick which amazing brews I wanted to try in my flight. The staff were all very kind and welcoming. It wasnt too loud or too quite inside and could comfortably talk to my friend, without having to yell over booming music, or having the feeling that if I didnt whisper Id disturb the people near us.

Lemme tell ya, whatever youre paying your server, Katie, it isnt enough. She was hands down the cream of the cop, the bell of the ball, the friccin bees knees! She was COMMITTED to her service #PraiseBees No glass was left unfilled, no plate left empty or lonely, no conversation forced or lingering. Just wow. The beer flowed like wine, the pretzels softer than a goose-down pillow,, and, like I said, the server was top notch. 5/5

I love the Thirsty Moose. Always a great time and the food is always good. I tend to lean towards anything buffalo on the menu personally. The list of beers they have can really be enjoyed by anyone in a group. I love the atmosphere of the thirsty moose!

We had so much fun and it was good food! Chicken tenders were perfectly fried. Haddock sammy was crisp and delicious!

Very good. Friendly particularly the barman who served us. Really helpful and informative. Gave us options from the menu which was excellent, fish and chips as good as Ive eaten anywhere and the Guineas was chilled and served perfectly.

Another new Thursday Moose location for us. This time just a beer and their Chile Nachos. Great beer selection. Their nacho plate was plenty large enough to satisfy two hungry travelers. Even brought some some in a doggie bag. If you enjoy trying a new beer from a huge selection this is a perfect place. They are liberal giving sample tastes

Easily one of the top spots in town for both food and craft beer on draft. Our group kept coming back without hesitation during the week. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and stellar offerings. All ingredients for a special pub experience. Bravo!

Food was excellent. Service was fast. Atmosphere was nice. **side note if you are not familiar with downtown Portsmouth, where this tap house is located, be careful. The streets are a god damned nightmare. They bleed into each other, without lights. There is a crosswalk, every 6 feet and locals do not care if there is a car coming, they will just go, as on most crosswalks, there are not light indicators telling them when to go.

Only place in Portsmouth that I could find the Giants game. The downstairs bar had a couple of non-local games (pats were on at the same time so.. .), Several taps with great beer, and fun people...good time in a great town

Great tap list, if you like beer you will find something youll like. Got some appetizers to share, food was great and came out fast. Service was excellent.

I Stopped in with a couple of friends for lunch. They have a lot different beers on tap and in the bottle. There is a list of their drink selections on the bar. Its 3 or 4 pages. They also have a rather extensive selection of appetizers and pub style entrees. I had a Reuben with fries and a nonalcholic beer, I forget the name. Tab came in under $20. The bartender was great as well.

Thirsty moose is our family’s go to dinner out. The menu has something for everyone, prices are great, and too too it off they give a really good veterans discount. The staff is always super friendly, and always goes the extra mile to make sure our food is just what we ordered.

Great food and drinks. The memorabilia is over priced. I have been here many times with varied service. A few months ago, very slow table service. Last time we (me and the group I travel with for work) were there, we waited 14 minutes and couldnt get someone to seat us... or acknowledge we were even there. Like I said, good food, but I wont go back.

The food was excellent and the service was exceptional. We were able to get a table for our large party of 10 with no fuss. The on tap selection was huge, so theres something for everyone, even those of us who dont like beer.

They have a very good range of beers and a good range of food at reasonable prices. This location is kind of long and narrow and very much set up as a sports bar. If you want to be able to read the menus then its best to ask for a table with some light. Id say this is more setup for drinking groups than for 2-4 people looking for something to eat in an environment where its easy to talk.

It was a good time, great moose burger with special sauce, halibut with beer batter, sweet potatoe fries, pumpkin beer. At the end of a day with friends winding down after a day touring Boston. And a practice round of trivia.

I’m sorry but there was something really off this time. I ordered a mojito and my boyfriend ordered some peach-tequila thing. They were both just terrible. They had this awful bitter, rotten taste to them. I have to wonder if there’s something wrong with Thirsty Moose’s water? It was so gross. I only took two sips of mine before I got a stomach ache and stopped. My boyfriend wasn’t so lucky. He somehow drank his entire drink and then had to deal with stomach pains the rest of the night.Bonus- he said he went to the bathroom and couldn’t even get close to the urinals since there was so much piss on the floor. You know what they say- you can tell how clean a restaurant is by what their bathrooms look like. Which I guess explains the rotten taste from their drinks.

One of my favorite places to be. I dont think Ive ever had a bad experience here. Servers are always very attentive and super friendly. Good food that hits it out of the park every time. Beer selection is always varied enough to never get old and encourages trying new flavors. Even the kitchen staff are a super cool bunch of people. We went on my sons fifth birthday and they made him a special dessert! Above and beyond, I wish I could give more stars.

Out of 8 beers ordered in our group, 4 of them may have been the right beer. No point in having the choices if you can’t get the ones you ask for.Even the glass size is inconsistent, same beer ordered twice came in 12 oz then 16 ozWatch your selections closely, look up pics of what it should look like!!

A very nice spot. Plenty of free space. Lots of screens each showing different sport channel. A HUGE choice of tap beer. For the food, according to our taste, it should be improved - there is no choice of healthy food here at all.
