It gets dark early these fall days! Sucked into this local pub and got a nice meal, good service and a cool drink. Respectful of COVID and a nice atmosphere to have a meal!

First time here-we lucked out and got a table quickly. It was a good atmosphere, they offer food and drinks but we only had the mix drinks. They were pretty good, Nick was a great server. I would definitely go again.

Great start each time I went. Impressive. Pretty good pizza. Narcos had nicely fixed veggies going for them and nothing else (HINT... Better quality cheese will go a long way).

Ive been in the service industry for 20+ years, and this is my first review I’ve ever left. A miscommunication with our partys arrival led to poor service. Our server was very young and did the bare minimum while being very short and rude. The other server seemed great and the guy playing music sounded fantastic! We’ve been coming here for forever and will continue too. However, this was a special occasion, and it seemed like only one person serving the patio was interested in money this evening.

Friendly staff. Food was good. I had the BBQ Chicken tenders (they were just a little chewy) but the yummy sauce made up for it. Small but decent menu. Second time there and will return. Love the backyard seating vibe.

The pizza at this classic joint has very tasty choices and offers a large amount of draft beers. The only issue I had with this place is that I had a piece plastic in my beer, that was definitely a cooking hazard. Luckily I noticed it in time after my second sip. But overall the service and the food was great!

Waited patiently for 45 minutes. Received a text that table was ready and to text them back if we were coming which I did. Arrived and the hostess was explaining things to another party-no biggie. When she was done, I was told I would have to re-enter my name because I was a minute late(even though I was waiting) and start a wait all over. The manager simply apologized..Horrendous service, stay away

We have been going here for over ten yearsThis yr we hav been going EVERY Fri with at least 4 friends since JuneToday we went there, 9/25, 430 and were told we would NOT be seated until all 6 of us were there and that we were not welcomed to stay any longer than 90 minutes. There was 10, 6 top tables EMPTY and half NEVER got sat. We chose not to use our gift cards or our points to support this restaurant. That will NO longer be the case. I will use every last $$ and then go somewhere we are appreciated. I have two words for Gaslight .... ...

I went to a Wedding Reception here on October 17th. I thought the food was really good. I would recommend this restaurant.

Long wait but Labor day and Covid not going to hammer them on. Went for drinks only since wife shopping and spending stimulus check from man. Helped out local economy. Server was attentive.

This place is absolutely legendary. The pizza was the best I have ever had, the staff was polite and gave off positive vibes. If you come to Portsmouth I highly recommend Portsmouth Gas Light Co and you won’t regret it!

Great environment and service. The food was fairly good, but not quite as described in the menu. Given the price I would expect the served dish to more or less match what is on the menu.

Not worth it. My girlfriend and I came in to the grill section on Friday night, and our entire time we heard the employees loudly complaining about customers. We got the haddock sandwich and lobster roll. The haddock sandwich was decent, but the lobster roll did not taste fresh at all. Our drinks were expensive for what we got.I do not recommend this place. Try somewhere else in market square.

Times are tough in the restaurant business and this place fills the gap. Fantastic staff with live music is always a winning combo. Do not hesitate.

Probably the worst experience Ive ever had with a server. Carley came to our table and immediately told us she wanted us to leave at a certain time. She proceeded to stare us down when we didnt leave after our first drink and continued to come to our table when we kept telling her we didnt need anything else. I cant recall one moment where she was friendly. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry and was extremely disappointed by the service. It was our first time to Portsmouth and Im only leaving a few stars because my margarita and the live music was good.

Perfect place to get robbed! 42 dollars for horrible CHICKEN TENDERS and very over cooked fish and chips. Waitress was very slow and I had a regretful experience.

All of the servers are a fantastic and friendly. The food is great and if you get the frequent diner card, the place cannot be beat. Love it!

Great spot for dinner in Portsmouth! Awesome lobster roll and Pizza in the more laid-back dining room in the basement. Full service dining upstairs is great if youre looking for something a bit more upscale.

A few friends and I tried to go to Gaslight to have dinner, as I was waiting to put our names in, who I believe to be the owner rudely stepped up to me, told me to get out of his way, and acted as if he was going to put his hands on me to forcibly move me. Then, after I stepped out of the restaurant, he was extremely rude to my friends. At this point we decided to not give them our business and went elsewhere. Never again will I eat here due to the rudeness and unprofessionalism shown to us. If I could give it zero stars I would.

We attempted to have a drink at this place because the ambiance seemed nice. It was 5:30 on a Thursday and we were told that we were not aloud to have a seat without ordering food. I was with my handicapped mother in law. We were offered to stand in the corner after ordering at the bar.There were a minimum of 15 open tables on the patio at this time. I took these photos at peak time of 7pm to show how many seats were still available!We went down the street to the brewery where our service was welcomed and actually ended up ordering some food anyway.As I understand the concept of this policy there are other ways to prevent these issues without the business denying money from customers.

Stopped by at this restaurant late Sunday night, mostly known for their beer sampler and lots of fun, good place to hang out in the weekends; food was great, service was good, nice atmosphere overall . Plenty of stairs and side rooms for more privacy in case you dont want to sit by the bar or you can go downstairs to have a nice fresh pizza. The beer mini factory is a great attraction and can see it through the windowswhile inside.Enjoy!

We stopped in for drinks and snacks. Drinks were nice, but was surprised by the horseradish in the shortribs poutine (a special). I am sure it was good if you like horseradish, but it was a strong flavor to not mention in the description. My partner enjoyed them though.

Waited for 45 min to get our food and we ordered 2 salads, hummus and Mac and cheese. There was barely any Mac and cheese in the bowl and it was cold. Both salads were made incorrectly and one was made 7 times with the wrong cheese which was an allergy at the table. It was awful and will never return.

Attended an evening in the 3rd floor nightclub with some friends, and the first thing and most noticeable issue with the club and set up was the OVERWHELMING amount of bouncers present. The club was decently busy, and I typically never complain about extra security at a venue, but something was seriously off about the STAFF at every corner.On the dance floor there were a handful of Thumb looking men standing around like stiffs and attempting to talk to all the women who were clearly not interested in out of shape grown men.Outside the dance floor, over by the bar, there were even more STAFF thumbs paroling. Now like I said good security is typically better. But when there are a dozen or so high school drop outs walking in circles with flashlights looking for empty glasses, it gives off a bad vibe. Literal flashlights interrupting our party to take 2 empty glasses away. Extremely unprofessional. I was unable to locate online any major past crimes that could have possibly been committed there that could warrant a whole military brigade of security on an average Saturday night...funny thing is, after passing through the 15 men guarding the entrance, we realized not a single one of us got patted down. Which is ironic because the vast majority of all problems could have been prevented at the front door instead of the entire force of the US Army being on high alert upstairs.Overall good experience, Gaslight is lucky they own the only nightclub in Portsmouth, because I would definitely not go back if there was any competition in the area.

We got a little bit of everything from the menu and all of it was delicious. Highly recommend this place for anytime or anything you want. Great job guys, please keep up the good work. Wow! Really good food and drinks as well as atmosphere. There are 3 levels to the restaurant. Lower floor (where we went) is the pizza pub. Brick oven pizzas and drafts. We got spinach and artichoke dip and Buff-A-Que wings. Both were soooo good. Then we got a gas light pizza and my wife built her own calzone. Pizza was one of the best I’ve had. We debated between this and Flatbreads but we’re happy with our choice here. Second floor is chicken,steak, and seafood and third is a night club. Would definitely recommend you checking it out. Very cool atmosphere and such good food.

Still good service while remaining covid safe

I gave my husband a surprise Retirement Party in the third floor function room and it was extraordinary. When I say that - I am referring to not only the beautiful room and huge, gorgeous bar but also the incredible, well organized employees. The event coordinator, Kate, is super nice, responsive, and also well organized (as one can tell - I’m a little obsessive about organization). These guys exceeded my expectations.They made sure my video was set to go whenever I needed it to and then was right there to make sure it happened correctly. The sound system and three screens (one pull down and two Large Monitors) were PERFECT. The party/celebration “vibe” or atmosphere was everything a celebration should be. Oh yes, and the food received compliments throughout the entire event from everyone.Kate, the coordinator did a great job fooling my husband as she walked him to the third floor. Husband said “I didn’t think you had a dining room up here”. “It’s new...” she responded as she texted me telling me my husband was coming down the hall! He was shocked and It was such a great time. I totally recommend this place.

Excellent lobster roll and back patio seating

The atmosphere and the staff are great, overall I had a good experience. The pizza however wasnt that good. I got their version of a supreme pizza, so it can easily be compared with other establishments. There was very little cheese, and the peppers and onions were cut so big that their flavor was dominating. The crust was thin and crispy, which was nice. I was disappointed that for being a wood fired pizza, it tasted like it came out of a regular oven. It didnt have any smoky tones or that presence of high heat locking in the flavors. Ill give it another chance, but not interested in paying a premium price for pizza that tastes like take out.

Very average, wings were luke warm after waiting an hour for the food. Waiter was average at best cdnt even keel the beers organized and the capacity was maybe 50% its like really people how bad wd u be if the place was full....wnt be in a hurry to go back.any time soon

Cant rate the food aside from the calamari, but these were delicious and I tend to get calamari at different restaurants for personal rating. Went here for a bachelor party and as busy as it was we were greeted relatively quickly. The environment was enjoyable as there was an outside patio with live music. The entrance fee was affordable and I did not mind paying.Selection of beers was nice as one would expect for the area to meet the demand of other competitors. The downstairs was a nice surprise. The group grabbed pizza afterwards and we didnt leave any left! They also have an upstairs night club that was part of the entrance fee which was a plus.

The best Pizza and Fantastic atmosphere.

When we walked it we thought we would be able to order from both the grill and pub menu (I guess its split?) as the grill is up stairs and the pub is downstairs. It was not a bad place to meet up with friends for dinner and to watch some sports.

Our waiter was awesome, atmosphere was great. I wouldnt really consider this place (small child) family friendly, mainly being more upscale. The food was incredible more pricy than our normal spend but a great spot to enjoy here and there!

Great food! Its actually two restaurants. A fancier dinner place upstairs and a more casual pizza place downstairs. We went to the pizza place and loved it.

I had many issues here.Mussels: we ordered them gluten free and they came gluten full. They were not fresh and tasted like sea water. Some were crunchy and cold.The fry things on top were very spicy and soggy.Chicken fingers: we ordered chicken fingers and fries. We got chicken fingers and carrots. The chicken was mediocre.Calamari: it was mostly peppers and the calamari itself wasn’t very good.Burger: it was just ok and the mashed potatoes were not good.Mac and cheese: it had no cheese flavor at all. The crumbs on top tasted weird and the pasta had an odd and unexpected flavor. 10/10 would not come again

A nice spot for dinner. Good food, excellent drink, and a decently sized menu making for a great selection. The burgers are large and their drinks dont disappoint. Definitely a spot Id return to.

Stopped by and was served by a rude unfriendly bartenderess. Oh, but if you were a local or she knew you she was all smiles. IPA was the WORST of the trip from Colorado. Didn’t help that we had just come Earth Eagle Brewing where the IPA was great. Total tourist trap! Fail! Oh and a pint glass of water with Lipstick!

Have only been there for their wood fired oven pizzas (downstairs), which are consistently excellent. M-F lunch buffet is the best. About $15, including tip, for all-u-can-eat pizza, lasagna (also excellent), salad and a draft beer. Plenty of screens for watching sports also.

Nice environment, live music, good crowd, people around are friendly and having fun. The only thing is drinks, drinks served to us were just water. There was minimum alcohol in them, if any. Also, be careful about where you choose to sit, because if you sit too close to where the live music plays, people will start dancing there eventually, and you will need to move, so just be wise about that. Good music and good vibes!

Lovely wait staff, but got completely fleeced here. I saw a sign saying Margarita Monday - 1/2 off, and asked about it when I was seated. I was assured they were half price, until the bill came and they charged me full price. Apparently the half off is for club members, which you can join, bit it doesnt apply until the next day. The salmon burger was tasty, but mostly breadcrumbs with a few small chunks of fish. It was nice sitting on the patio, but I just cant recommend this place.

I really love the deck area and the nightclub upstairs is super snazzy. But the dance floor quickly became too crowded. Even the giant fan could not keep up with the level of heat in that room.

I love love love all the food! In the summer they open what they call the deck. It’s more like a backyard enclosed and only 21+. This place has great rum buckets and there is musicians when the deck is open. Just a great fun spot. They have a pizza parlor downstairs, a regular restaurant in the middle, and a club upstairs. Many ways to enjoy this place!

This place is great. Wood fired pizza downstairs, wood fired grill on the main floor, night club upstairs, and a great outdoor deck. We found friendly staff at each spot. The live music outside is fun. We visited here 3 times on our 4 day vacation.

Love this place! Great people and food

Good food, great cocktails and a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. I loved the smell of wood smoke from the wood fire grill that was in the air. My Dad had the prime rib special and it was cooked perfectly. I had the Black & Blue Burger it was very tasty but a little over cooked for my Rare, still mooing, rare sense of taste. The vegetables and all the sides were really good, fresh and handmade. I will definitely be back.

A fantastic pizza buffet! Very inexpensive ($8.64) and delicious.

Nice atmosphere and waitstaff were great. The lobster roll lacked flavor but it was fresh and a good sized meal. My husband had the batter fish and chips and the fish had way too much batter on it which held a lot of oil and the oil didn’t taste very nice which was disappointing.

Had a beautiful Cobb salad with the m oh st delicious shrimp. M y friend had a cesar salad with shrimp. Both were so fresh and tasty. I overheard other people talking about their great food also. Pizza, burgers etc. Will return again.

Mussels were absolutely horrific, tasted like seawater and were not at all fresh. Calamari was 80% peppers. Asked for chicken fingers with fries but got veggies. Mac and cheese was not cheesy whatsoever. Overall the 2 menu system was unenjoyable and difficult. Don’t waste your money here.

Love this place. The Grill is a great place to hit for dinner or for a business lunch, and the Pizza Pub is a personal favorite.

Stopped in because of a suggestion from the night nightclub staff. Food was wonderful and the staff was great! We came in before closing time and everyone was hospitable!! The mussels were delicious, and the curry was a tad too sweet but I still enjoyed my meal. Deffinetly would come back here for an upscale dinner.

Visited the pizza pub - good food for good price. Other foods slightly expensive but worth it. Best value is the pizza buffet which is ~$7 per person and provides their standard pizzas plus a salad and breads. Overall, clean and pleasant enviroment, good for kids/all crowds

Awesome party place with excellent pizza. There is a cozy indoor restaurant& its kid friendly. a cool outdoor bar that regularly has live music & an upstairs club styled bar(not for kids. Lol) that has a unique vibe from everything else in Portsmouth.

This place is great - my late girlfriend loved it there and it was always the 1st place we would visit when in town. Great memories listening to live music in the outside patio area.

Alter waiting an eternity for our order I received this almost non existent “salmon” burger. Terrible place and food quality.

Went for a private party. The food was delicious, kept fresh and the servers were attentive with plate and drink clearing. Very pleased with the experience and the building was awesome to look at, so much old architecture thats been made modern comfortable.

Best pizza your going to find in this part of New England.

Good menu variety for both food and drinks. The four different venues are a little confusing- know what you want when you go in- theres the flatbread pizza joint, the club (at nighttime), the deck outside which has a slightly more limited/casual menu and then the indoor Grill which is more formal/full menu. Ive been to the deck which is fun with live music (but loud) and the grill which is better for talking. A reliable choice for a group in Portsmouth who may have diverse tastes.

While the food was fine, I was pretty disappointed with our service last night. We came in for dinner around 4:45 with a group of 12 (and a toddler/baby) after calling ahead to ask if they could accommodate us. It was a slow Sunday evening, and we were the only people there besides one couple. We were there a normal amount of time, and tipped well (the kids were well-behaved, and when the toddler got antsy we took her outside so as not to trouble the couple near us). But at the end of dinner it started pouring buckets, so one of our party offered to run back to get a car from the lot where we left them and then take my husband back to get the car for the kids. We started to gather our things to go, and the waiter/busser came in like hawks, moving our stuff, cleaning off the table, touching our things like they just HAD to get us out of there right away (even though we were still clearly waiting for a ride). There was no one in line waiting to eat, and only one other family had come in during our whole time there. We were essentially the only paying customers they were going to have, and yet they practically shooed us out. That meant we ended up standing in the lobby, where the waiters had to walk through to get things upstairs and were visibly annoyed with us. But it was still pouring, they werent getting any new customers, and there was no need to rush us out like that.
