I just saw Richard Buckner there. It was an acoustic show, but your could hear Buckner clearly. Its a very intimate stage, and you have a feeling youre attending some underground show in a Bohemian venue in an old warehouse. Because it kind of is. Good selection of local beer, and staff was really welcoming and friendly. Parking is on street, but fairly available. Seating ranges from vintage kitchen chairs to recycled restaurant chairs, and maybe even a couple plush chairs and a couple of tables.
I saw US Patriots there last week. Good show. Simple venue. Can get canned beers and see art/music. Cover fee a bit much but Id totally come back and support this place.
The Aphohadion is a tiny live performance venue located in a profoundly unfashionable neighborhood in Bayside, Portland Maine. There is minimal signage identifying the place, I finally spotted a hip young lady having a smoke near an open door and slipped in. The place is maybe 30×40 feet or so, with room for a generous stage, 5 or 6 cocktail tables and a small bar. It would be easy to get a wheelchair in here. A comfy couch and a few more chairs are available. The bar is beer, wine, tea and coffee. No food is available. The large and I think, wheelchair accessible bathrooms are down a long hallway. The overall vibe is cool without being exclusionary. The minimal decor includes a changing art exhibit. Shows here tend toward drone/noise/improv/ experimental. I know they have also held film screenings and there is an upcoming VHS swap meet. Street parking is plentiful in this utterly deserted industrial neighborhood.I plan on making this pad a regular destination. Enjoy it now before some yuppie developer demolishes the whole area to build condos to sell to rich people who can sit on their balconies and talk about how great Portland used to be! Yay!
This is an amazing small venue that hosts the most eclectic of bands - every so often I will pick a random night, not knowing the band, and be always, pleasantly surprised. This place exudes coolness and, if you want an intro to musical genres you aren’t familiar with, this place is the place to jump off from. I’m not cool enough but, watching from the wings, I experience ‘musical radness’.I only had a card with me and they didn’t charge cover, only asked me to get something from the bar.️
Such a tiny hidden spot with great bands and good beer. Not great seating, but its a perfect spot to see a fun show for a great price!
Full disclosure - Ive performed here. I love the small venue, how it allows for an intimate and humble audience interaction. The people who run it are great. Its the kind of place I drop in casually to see whats up, and usually stay till close.
Intimate and unique performances
Kind of unfinished but the band made up for it.
Cozy venue for local shows. I like that tea and popcorn were available for sale as well.
Lovely people, lovely events, sweet little beer and wine bar, one of my favorite places in Portland
Great place! Loved the show and the vibe!
Expect to have a good time
Cool little venue off the beaten path
