I like that this theater is still here and going strong. Just one screen like in the old days. Good sound quality. Decent prices too. I particularly like the tiny weird shape of the mens bathroom.

This theatre is classic. I love the lower prices of course, but also they do a great job keeping it clean and with sound. I chose this theatre when I can.

I love this theatre. Each theatre and screen are the perfect size so that every seat is a good seat. Don’t pass on the beer, but their popcorn needs some serious work.

Awesome single screen theater. They get all the big hits and some smaller flick sneak in there between the blockbusters.Reasonably priced concessions and you are allowed to bring your own food in, just no alcohol, popcorn or candy.Grab some food from your favorite Hawthorne join and catch a movie.Staff have a great energy.

For the record, I love this place. The tickets are cheaper than major theaters, the beers are fairly priced with a great selection, and the staff is rad. The seats arent particularly comfortable so I recommend going when the theater isnt likely to be packed. Thats the only reason it gets 4 instead of 5 stars.Update: moved to 5* because they improved their seats. Love these guys.

Love this theater. Wish there was a better parking scenario but eh, New Portland amirite?! Great beer, good popcorn, great movie selection. All the best flicks come through here. There is a handicap restroom, there are some non-accessible ones too. Support your independent theater and come here.

A good small theater for first and second run movies with in house concessions such as sodas, popcorn and candy. Good way to avoid the noise, lights, traffic and the crowd at large theaters. No parking lot, so street park, which in the Hawthorne neighborhood is a little difficult. VERY SMALL bathrooms, from back in the 30s and 40s, fat people must walk sideways to get in! However, one handicap accessible modern bathroom added in a remodel.

A simple movie venue with everything you need to get you to the end of the film. Nothing fancy, just classy enough to make you wanna come back, not too classy that your fairweather friends will want to follow.

Cheap tickets and the best popcorn at any movie theatre (fresh, not too salty, and with real butter!). You can get a ticket and medium popcorn for less than a regular ticket at most bigger theaters.

Love this local theater. Very disappointed that they decided to run first run movies. They used to have great classic films. Still go there to support local business, but sure miss the classic movies. Now any movie showing there is also at 30 other venues in town with more comfortable seating. I feel theyve lost their uniqueness

Very old theater. The chairs are 60s or 70s old and the place has a one stall restroom. It has a tiny concession stand. The reason for the 5 stars is they have many films that the big name movie theaters do not carry. There are so few of this style of old theater left.

Amazing staff that are fun to talk to, cheap tickets, bring your own food if you want beer on tap! All right in the middle of one of the funniest streets in Portland next to some other fun places to check out and hip shops. Probably my favorite movie theater ever. If youre willing to wait to see that one movie that you heard about a month ago after everybodys done talking about it for a cheaper price then this is the theater for you.

Great low cost theater with a beautiful screen and sound system. However I didnt give it 5 stars because the seats are a bit worn and the springs have gone a bit. If you are over 6 plan on making some strange arrangements to stay seated throughout the show. Minus that this is a wonderful local gem.

The theater is currently phasing in some upgrades; replacing old, decrepit seats, giving more legroom in the process. Should be even better independent theater once thats complete.

Cinemagic is reasonably cheap without skimping on any of the customary accommodations associated with the cinema. Ive never felt let down by the sound or picture quality, they have supremely comfortable chairs with folding footrests (at least some do, specifically up front), and theyre even across the street from little big burger! Cant go wrong.

Great place for cheap movie & beer. Seats are very comfy and they rock/lean back (reminds me of the 70s), and theres a good selection of beer on tap, as well as one selection of red and white wines. Matinee tickets and beer $5 per person/pint, and ticket prices are $7 after 5:45pm.

This place shows movies a few weeks after theyve been released. The tickets are a lot cheaper than Regal Cinemas, and theaters like that, but theyre are other theaters in Portland where you can see a movie for cheaper. Warning: you need to be careful when you sit down on your chair, because the back rest will go flying back, and hit the guy behind you right in the arches. Long story behind that quote. Just be careful.

Cinemagic is one of my favorite theaters in Portland. Of course, part of that sentiment is due to the convenient location and that fact that it is across the street from Little Big Burger but the fact that I can go and see a first run movie without suffering through the hell that is Lloyd Center is wonderful.

Were it not for the truly awful seating, this might be a four star theatre. These seats are creaky, uncomfortable, and falling apart. Yes it only has one screen, but its a good sized screen. They have first-run movies for only $7.

Ive been going here for over 15 years now, and Ive only now had an unpleasant experience at Cinemagic. So I want to qualify my present comments with a general admiration for the place and its staff through the years, yet I feel that I should speak up here. I showed up for a Tuesday early evening showing of Birdman a few weeks back. My friend and I arrived over 15 minutes before the stated showtime, nor was this a brand new release at the location. We waited in line for over half an hour just to be admitted to the theater, thereby missing the first 10 to 15 minutes of the movie because the theater was so poorly staffed, and the staff so poorly coordinated that they could not admit the majority of the customers in time to start the movie on time. Yet the projectionist saw no problem beginning the movie on time even though half of the crowd was still waiting in line for the very nice, but overwhelmed, woman working the door, food and drink stations. Could there not have been better communication with what I assume had to be the only other employee to help this poor woman up front, or to delay the beginning of the movie until the crowd was actually admitted to the theater?? There was no explanation, no remuneration, nothing said at all. Very poor business. Ill wait a while before I return. I actually like being able to watch ALL of the movie.

I love this theater, even if someone always sits in front of me when the place is like 1/4 full and proceeds to slam their chair into my knees. Be careful if you are tall. Get there early so you have time to get concessions as it can take a minute. So this theater is my favorite because it gets rowdy. I was in a movie where someones cell phone went off and three people yelled at the woman and got into a brief verbal altercation. Later on an old man had to loudly ask his wife about certain plot points because he fell asleep. Finally, hats off to you super drunk guy at the matinee showing of Star Wars VIII who finally apologized to everyone for laughing at all the worst times.
