People working there very nice. Beautiful course.
Very fun course. Played all 18 and had a blast here.
Decent course, with very little oversight. I am a muni course golfer with not super high expectations when I play a course like Rose City, but will likely not return after our experience this round. Not only did we see a shirtless man golfing, we also ended up playing behind a group of 5. Would expect to see stuff like this from a par 3 or maybe an executive course, but not Rose City.
They respected social distancing, which is unfortunately our new norm. Open for business, swing a stick, have some fun and rock the course!
Great city golf course. Friendly holes with a more challenging back 9, good place for beginners
Very pleased with the course. Fairway mowed and green in very good condition. Staff pleasant and helpful to players new to the course
Neighborhood hood golf I live by here and play here most often. Hank is the best. I also like the people at the course and the people I meet there. Course is in good condition.
You cant rent pull cart.Signs arent very clear to go from one hole to the other. They have so many mature trees. I end up at the bottom of many trees which you cant fly the next shot.
Fun and challenging golf course with beautiful setting.
Really nice golf course grounds. Very well taken care of.The Pro Shop staff needs to retire. With the younger crowds looking to start golfing, you really need to put customer friendly, cool people behind the counter. I’ve been there three times now and the staff just seems crusty. If you just go in and get out of the pro shop as fast as you can, you will enjoy the golf, for sure.If I could give any advice, I would say, find engaging Pro Shop staff.
Nice park. Usually free of any litter and no graffiti. I park sometimes to get my work done on my laptop since its a convenient location for me and them head out a couple of hours or so later. T-Mobile data speeds in excess of 100mbits/sec down and 50 up on the side closest to the main park. No complaints here. Beware of dogs not on leashes despite signs requiring them to be on leashes.
Great place to watch the trees bluster in the wind
Love this course! Been golfing here for years. Fairly flat but lots of challenges
The customer service at this course is garbage. The pro shop/ grill will close as early as possible due to laziness. Hope you aren’t hungry or thirsty while you’re golfing.
Awesome day of golf well kept greens and very reasonably priced even with a cart
Course is usually in great shape. But the greens was sandy fairway not cut.
It was a 90° day but playing in the shade was pleasant. Rose City rolls the ball long at this time of the season. Greens were still soft and true.
Great food!
Great course - friendly staff
Its got a heck of a public restroom in the park adjacent to the golf course.Emphasis on the word publicAs in open to just ANYONEAs in...accessible to you, me.... And every unique and special snowflake-of-a-human doing theIm-about-to-pee-my-pants shuffle all across this lovely yuppies paradise of a neighborhood.Emphasis on the word(s) boringly better than you....I mean, emphasis on the word yuppie
Great public course, reasonable prices. Beautiful setting
Not too crowded, and the course was in pretty good shape for as cold as it was.
Always enjoy playing this old school public muni..mature trees line fairways and position is premium on the drive.the greens were in good shape and rolling nice .
Very nice golf course with some great holes on it. Staff is friendly and the course is well maintained.
Rose City Golf Course was a home away from home for my father Bob (Robert) Butz. Any time of year and in any weather. I remember painting red spots on golf balls for snowy days. My father pulled his clubs and I remember riding on the bag. I gave 5 stars for him and less than for me.I miss my dad!
Good but the tough course that gets much tougher with the wind that funnels through it
Always a good day at Hanks place got my first hole in one on 15 and my partner almost did it today, little hot at 102 but enjoyed it
Was fun
I love this course. It is very well manicured for a municipal course. There are a few challenges on some holes just enough to keep you on your game but not so much as to cause struggles
Rude staff in proshop....
Some of the best chicken wings and fries in town
Nice place to visit. Family friendly golf.
We went to the golf park to sled and its amazing. There are several different hills to choose from and we had a lot of fun.
Great winter golf... course drains well, allows carts virtually every day of the year and greens are exceptional in the winter.. The irrigation system leaves something to be desired for summer golf but ultimately the course plays well year round and seldom are players faced with 5 hour or more rounds because of slow play... Good buy for the money and a large active mens club is available
Portland has one of the finest Muni golf course systems in the country, and this is an example of one of the better courses in its stable. Rose City may be out in the hood (my hood, to be exact) but its an oasis of green in the gulch. Well-tended fairways, interesting layout, enough challenges to make it fun, and plenty of trees for me to whack my ball into. Fees here are relatively inexpensive for whats usually an expensive game, and twilight action is a steal.
The golf course is in decent shape and it is challenging, which I liked. However, the food was horrible. Ive never had such low quality food at a golf club. The hot dogs were $5.00 and they were like jerky, yuk!! Also they dont have a food and drink cart driving thru the course, which most other courses have. Plus they dont have a driving range there to warm up. All in all, the course is pretty nice, but for all the negatives I mentioned previously, Im giving it a 3 star.
Great course! A great mix of long par 5s and technical par 3s. Many holes are different - you are going to experience more links style holes with sloping fairways meanwhile dealing with other holes that force you to avoid trees or fairway bunkers. The back is my favorite; 5, 5, 3, then two technical par 4s, 3,5, 4, 4. Fun course and well maintained, and MUCH cheaper than other choices in the area.
Golf was good but it was very expensive compared to other golf courses
Great little track and close in reasonable prices.
Im not a real golfer, but i thought it was a rather nice course
I take my lessons here from Tom Hinton. He is a great coach. He taught me how to play after 40 years of chopping weeds. The course is fine. I grew up not far from here so it will always be special.
Awful greens.
Great course at a good price
Course is in great shape. Lots of roll in the fairways and greens can be alittle tricky.Worth to visit.
Great golf course friendly knowledgable staff great food
Course is in great shape. Lots of roll in the fairways and greens can be alittle tricky.
Thanks Rose City Golf Course, fun times
Fun, challenging, and about a 4 hour 20 minute round. Course is in good shape. Traps have sand and greens are firm.
Great place to take the kids
Light rain does not scare avoid players away from this historic course. Pro Shop and Grill are welcoming friends before and after their experiences on the course.
Course is in great shape. Lots of roll in the fairways
I grew up playing this Portland muni. Its an old school golf course with tree lined fairways and minimal sand or water hazards. I love the greens here. For me, the greens are some of the best you will find at a public course.
Great place for a good, quick, quiet breakfast. The menu is basic breakfast fare, nicely done, with no table service. Just keep an eye out for golf cart drivers who wont slow down for pedestrians.
Fun and affordable golf course in Portland. Not a ton of sand or water hazards. Easy to navigate.
Great golf course. A lot of family history at Rose City. But the maintenance team is doing a terrible job managing the squirrels on the golf course. Too many golfers are feeding squirrels snacks. Now the squirrels have learned to chew and scratch through golf bags to get sandwiches and fritos. This is a health risk and danger to the golfers. Ive had 2 nice golf bags (Ping Hoofer and Nike) ruined because of these squirrels. There are giant holes in the big pocket of both of my golf bags. When I reached out to the golf shop they never returned my messages. So dont play at Rose City. Your golf bag is likely to be ruined too. Go play any other golf course in Oregon where squirrels do not ruin golf bags.
Fairways and greens in very good shape. Aeration being done starting next week.
What a fun and challenging course. If they took better care of it, I would put it up there with some of the better tracks in the Portland area. No driving range is a negative.
Love it.
Tough track for a city course, although not as difficult as Eastmoreland. Well maintained and generally moves around pretty well. I play it regularly.
Decent course to play, but needs some updating. You can tell its been around the block. Equipment at golf courses is normally higher then at stores, but running double mark up seemed pretty extreme
Well maintained course, enjoyed the surrounding area, challenging course.
Fair price well maintained course
Nice course not overcrowded close to some good eats and not much traffic
Rude course staff, rushed us even though we were ride in time for our 4 some. Nobody in front or behind us, just rude, I recommend glendover or broadmoor, even east moreland
Relaxed atmosphere and The people there are the best. I cannot say enough good things about them.
Great golf course in Portland area with nice rain drainage to keep the course dry compared to other courses in Winter
Very nice looking course. There are a lot of trees that come into play here so hit ‘em straight
Love this course but the rates for what you get have become a little pricey...for now 4 stars
Great place to go for a walk. Found lots of little white balls laying around. Staff was rude when we turned them in at the concession stand
Nice public course.
Wonderful shape this year, greens were great, horrible pin placement.
One of the best area munis. Great driving course. Minimal hazards and well built greens.
Great muni course. Fun and affordable.
Nice easy going golf course. Perfect for a duffer like me
So beautiful and serene here
A pleasant Golf Course to play and the restaurant Maybe a bit slow but the food is good
Good course to get your golf legs back for the season.
I like the course. The guy in the pro shop seems to always be in a bad mood and has terrible customer service skills. Whenever I call to book a tee time he comes off short, annoyed and slightly rude.
Great old style golf course! Well maintained for a busy public course.
Decent course. Maybe a little boring. Tough greens. Expect slow play as the rangers are non existent
Course is fairly well maintained and the staff are friendly. Not too difficult to play, but there are lots of hills!
Decent municipal course. It was a rainy round, but we still enjoyed it.
Great place to walk your dog
I love this golf course well kept. Price is decent
I play this course regularly but it is a handful for the average weekend golfer. Although you can make some mistakes on the course and still get away with a reasonable score, it will punish you if you lose focus for any period of time. There is a premium for getting off the tee well and for approaches / chipping that limit the guesswork on the greens. It does have some shorter par 5s and you may find yourself putting for eagle with two decent accurate shots. Putting and making are generally two very different things on this course, however. The greens are difficult to read and can be very quick.Theres a fair amount of elevation change as well, so walking the 18 is a great work out.All of that may be either a plus or a minus for you. On the definitive plus side is its location and its availability. My theory is that the level of difficulty sends many people to Glendoveer, which keeps this more open.
I really like the walking trail around the golf course.....and lots of parking.
Well maintained, not 5 star by any means
Rude and unhelpful pro-shop staffer. Made a mistake and made a tee time incorrectly for my 15 year old son. When I apologized and now I know for next time he still didnt want to allow him on. Finally I had to ask him to cancel the tee time and allow him to walk on which he very begrudgingly did. He acted like I had done this to him purposely. As I said he was extremely rude and unhelpful. Not sure if he does not like kids or golf or both, but he should not be facing customers.I will not be going back soon. Ill go to Heron Lakes or Glendoveer, where they act like they want you there
Convenient location and fairly challenging. Sure could use a marshal to speed up the slow play.
Great course small cost no driving range
Really wet, but everywhere is wet this year. Greens are in great shape. Friendly staff.
