An easy trail with great rewards along the way and at the end. This is a must for anyone visiting the area. Youll need a national park pass to enter and park. On the way up, stop at Ancient Groves to get yourself ready - stretch your legs, fill you lungs with fresh air, and bath your eyes with too much beauty. Then once you are on the Sol Duc Trail, youll find interesting rippling waterfalls coming down the mountain slope. The trail is very well maintained so even in rainy weather, you shouldnt get muddy. There are no long steep parts but rather gentle slopes up and down.
Relatively short walk/hike to the waterfall, which is the main attraction. There are some other really cool parts, like a giant rock streambed with only a small trickle of water present, or the loads of enormous plants and ferns everywhere. Keep your eyes peeled for chipmunks and tiny mushrooms!
The Sol Duc Trailhead is a pathway to some of the loveliest areas of the Olympic Peninsula, from the famous falls a mile up the road to the solitude and splendor of the High Divide and its views of the Hoh Valley, Olympus, and the other great peaks of the Olympics. Alpine lakes are in abundance off this 18 mile loop, in addition to lush forests. In spring and autumn mushrooms will abound, while in the summer huckleberries and blueberries dominate the upper slopes of this trail. One of the best trails to experience the diversity of the Peninsula as well as to experience wildlife. And theres refreshing hot springs just down the street when you get back from your hike or backpacking trip!
Breath taking beauty!Trails are well maintained and easy to follow and parking is abundant.
Gets crowded quick, but the trail is well maintained and theres bathrooms at the parking lot.
My absolute favorite park to visit. The Forest growth is beautiful and there is plenty of bugs and wildlife to look at. We were able to capture some close up images of a family of deer. We had a great hike and we were excited to find the bathrooms open and accessible.
About a mile into the falls on a relatively easy trail. The payoff is spectacular. But look around as you hike at the old growth forest. Amazing!
Excellent hike in this area to a beautiful waterfall through an old growth forest.
Fun and easy. Great for the entire family. We had a blast!
The trailhead can get crowded but has restrooms and the trail is great out to a really unique waterfall or to one of the best long hikes in the park
Beatiful!! Peaceful! Only suggestion for them would be signs to direct you to other trails and hit to get to the hot springs
Everyone has to go there. Its got WAP WAP WAP left and right, its got like 7 different things
This is a strenuous trail but the challenge comes more from the length than the terrain. There isnt a grand finale feature but the sights throughout the trail make the journey better than the destination.
This is such a beautiful location. Theres tumbling waterfalls on your way to the very unique Sol Duc falls. Highly recommend this location.
Simple hike for all ages to an impressive waterfall
One of the best waterfall trail. It feels magical to walk through the rainforest. Listen to the sounds of the nature.
This trailhead will take you to Sol Duc falls but it is also where several other hikes start. The parking lot is very large and there are many signs for the trails and general information. There are also bathrooms here and places to leave your trash. The hikes up to Sol Duc falls and Deer Lake were stunning on their own.
Great hike
Beautiful. But, get there early to avoid the crowds
Great views of the water fall and old growth forest.
Great spot. Can get crowded.
Beautiful trail and falls at the end.
Little effort to get to falls, but worth the 1.6 mile round trip.
This was such a fun trail, if you like photographing mushrooms you will love it. The natural falls were amazing too! Highly recommended!!
Parking lot was almost full. Restrooms almost unbreathable due to smell.
Awesome falls and very nice hike.
Beautiful and light walk.
One of the best spots in the olympic peninsula
Although travel is hectic one definitely will forgot after watching the fall
My 2 year old and I got attacked by hornets
One of the most beautiful hikes Ive ever done! 7 Lakes Basin was well worth the pain in my feet at the end.
Trail over rainforests. Ample parking
Beautiful place
Easy hiking for all ages!
Beautiful hike. Pretty short but still technically a hike. Really neat falls.
Great trail for a family hike. The falls are beautiful. Look closely and you might see a banana slug.
This trail was a really awesome experience we really enjoyed going clockwise instead of what everybody else was doing going up to deer lake first we really enjoyed all of yous coming into the valley and as you can see by all the pictures we made it all the way around the loop in one day
Nice easy trail to sol duc water falls. The hike goes past that but we were short on time and just went till the water falls. It was good hike through the forest to a beautiful water fall.
The photo says it all.
Amazing trails through the forest. Waterfalls everywhere
Beautiful trails scenic waterfalls
There are several bathrooms on the way to parking at the trailhead by the campsites, along with one (non-flushing) at the trailhead parking. Its about .8 miles to Sol Duc Falls, then you can decide to go back or to other trails. I highly recommend Lovers Lane if youre in shape, its a 3 mile hike that ends up back at the resort, with two gorgeous falls on the way. These falls must be well kept secrets, because I enjoyed them more than Sol Duc Falls but didnt see anyone on the trail for more than an hour on a busy holiday. Keep in mind that if you park at the trailhead and hike down Lovers Lane, youll have to hike back up about 2 miles to your car on Lovers Lane loop.
Take a hike. Beautiful rain forest trail.
Good place to start Sol Duc trail
Nice waterfall if you are into water falls. Good out sightseeing.
Did not see a duck at the end. Just a pretty waterfall.
Not the best to visit in Olympic park, but still wonderful to visit
Easy hiking trail leading to a beautiful waterfall. The Marymede waterfall trailhead is nearby, so you can visit both on the same day.
Only dislike is the amount of people, but that is to be expected, otherwise it is fantastic
The short hike to the falls is worthwhile
This is a great place with a lot of different opportunities. The first part of the trail leading up the Sol Duc Falls can be very busy, but the falls are beautiful. After that there are so many places you could go to see the incredible Olympic National Park.
It was the perfect distance and the falls are magnificent !
Love visiting Sol Duc falls. Such an easy, short trail. Worth it every time Ive gone!
Excellent walk to the falls. To be honest, I found the small cascades on the way there more interesting than the big falls. It was pouring and I was drenched by the time I got back to the car park but still enjoyed it.
Enjoyed the falls. Many different hiking options. Several camping sites. Different forest from the Hoh Rain Forest.
Nice little mile hike to falls, or entrance to 15 mile loop.
Nice place, the water is clean
Beautiful leg stretch to the falls and portal to some beautiful high country for those that press on.
Water fall is too Small. From parking to water fall is too far and no clear direction sign.
Large parking lot with plenty of room even on a busy summer day with bathrooms. The trail systems beyond the trailhead are amazing and a must do Adventure.
One of the gateways to the great Olympic wilderness. Some people feel like theyre in heaven up here on these trails. Im one of them. Plenty of camping fishing and hiking up here!
Really cool falls that have cut down through the rock!
Great easy hike
Very good trail that goes through an old growth forest
Awesome park
Wow, great trail, family friendly
Dont miss this trail if visiting Olympic National park. Quiet and lovely
You can trail to Sol Duc Fall about 30-40 min one way.
Beautiful. The hike was easy. Bring a camera! You can go down to the rocks right at the falls but be extremely careful.
Lovely hike. Very easy and can be done with toddlers and also elderly people. Quite busy, but worth it.
A very nice hike. lots of wildlife around (deer, especially), so bring a camera to get good shots!
This hike is beautiful and easy for those who may not be ready to take on a full regular hike in Olympic National Park. Beautiful water falls and scenic stops along the way make this a great family hike!
Spring water is refreshing. Can run into a few mosquitos depending on the time of day.
Quiet, rain forest feel. Loved to see the salmon jumping in the river below.
Beautiful hike!! My only complaints is its NOT even remotely handicap accecible even though there is a lot of wheelchair parking.
Great place to start your Olympic National Park backpacking adventure.
Crazy busy, come early for parking. Beautiful
Trailhead with trails leading to a few different locations. We choose a moderate difficulty 0.8 mile hike to So Duc Falls, and it was really good.
Great trail with access to the high divide trail highly recommended!
Beautiful Place
Peaceful and beautiful but not well marked.
Nice
Clean trailhead with plenty of parking
Awesome waterfall. Worth the short hike.
Awesome hike then soak in warm springs!
Great trail in the Olympic Park rainforest, with a waterfall at the end
Easy hike Kids loved it Views are great
Lovely hike!
The rainforest in this area is absolutely stunning!
Beautiful area
Plenty of parking to check out the water fall. Lots of photographers come through here to snap away (is: lots of tripods)
Beautiful, family friendly hike.
Kill hike
Took beautiful pictures
