Disappointed about the service. Went on Friday September 11 and everything was perfect until I arrived at the coffee shop once I got there the man there needed to call the supervisor for authorization to add us to a tour after trying to call the person through the walkie talkie three times the supervisor never appeared. We had to wait for another tour because the man at the coffee shop told us that the tour that was going to start he couldn’t add us because he didn’t have the total from online sales (Great coordination). Other than that the tour was very good.Japanese Garden was very soothing.

In the south of Puerto Rico, you will find the Mansion of the Serrallés family, founders of the most famous Puerto Rican distillery. Currently a Museum, this castle is beautifully preserved. They have different areas you can book for your day: a patio, the pool area, the gardens surrounding the mansion, and a recently-renovated Japanese garden with a big pagoda where you can host the reception dinner and dance party. If you host your wedding there, don’t forget to add mini-bottles of the Don Q rum to your wedding souvenirs, it’s only appropriate.

Over priced now :( and paying more for less . There are only 3 butterflies left in the butterfly exhibit... They didnt tell me all that before buying the tickets and I paid full price for all 4 parks but they let me walk out there after one tour so one out of 4 doesnt work.. thank God I made my way to the other parks and found out for myself where to go because this isnt just one museum its parks are separated you have to drive down the road for the others.

Tour guide was very detailed in his explanation about the history of the place. Very elegant colonial construction which is an important part of the history of the city of Ponce and the sugar cane processed to be transformed in sugar and Rum.

The castle is gorgeous and the employees are attentive and sweet. Yet theres some areas that really need attention like the Japanese garden (the ponds dont look well) we pay to see the butterfly area but was close. All in all, besides the little marketing here and there in the cinema (first area you will go through), it is looking at PR through the eyes of the past. Also you get some free shots of Don Q Rum after the castle tour

Its a good castle, the first video on the tour was of horrible quality (shot in the 90s with blur images and poor voice quality) Japanese garden is included with the tour. Barely saw 2-4 butterflies in the butterfly resort

We got the individual combo which included a guided tour of the Castillo, a visit to the gardens, the butterfly house, and went to to the top of the Cross. The gardens were beautiful, and the view from the cross is spectacular.The house, well the only way to say it, is GORGEOUS. Our guide was very knowledgeable and the little bits of knowledge hed tell in each room made it worth the tour. It was really fun to get to hear about how to house was built, or about the sugar cane and rum company, or how the family lived.If youre visiting Puerto Rico for vacation and need souvenirs, visit the gift shop! Its surprisingly cheap compared to some and they have the best souvenirs.Unfortunately the butterfly house is still recovering from Maria. The plants are making a come back, but there are very few butterflies.

Absolutely wonderful experience here. The Japanese Garden is beautiful and easily accessible. The short film they have you view, prior to the tour, is narrated in English and Spanish. The film gives a snapshot of all the history of the castle and the grounds and how this amazing place came to be.The tour guide was amazing. She was welcoming, warm, friendly and very knowledgeable. It was such a pleasure having her give us a tour.We did rum tastings after the tour and the two people behind the counter again were friendly and welcoming. True hospitality and you feel like you are almost family.The castle itself is truly breathtaking. But without the amazing tour guide and perfect customer service, i don’t think the beauty of this place could be appreciated. Thank you to all who show this beautiful castle/museum. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely visit again!

Super beautiful museum to visit. The castle is so big with so much space. The tour was great with so much information and I recommend to everyone to visit since you also get to go on the balcony which lets you see a beautiful view of ponce high up. Definitely give it a go!

Museo Castillo Serralles in Ponce Puerto Rico is a most visit. You be transported in time. Rich in history. You cant it! Two thumbs up!

The Don Q rum family home is a treat for those traveling in Ponce. The home has been converted into a museum with original furniture and settings. The history of the location and the surrounding area is explained as well as the evolution of the company.The price of admission is almost very low ($12 for adults for the gardens, the cross and the house tour) and also includes a rum tasting during the tours. The views of Ponce and the surrounding areas alone are worth the price of admission! Its well worth the journey!

Great visit. We signed up for a Spanish tour, our tour guide realized I spoke very little Spanish and was kind enough to give me the cliff notes version in English for every room which was amazing. The history within the walls is truly awesome. I could have spent hours looking at all the nooks in the place. The hand carved wooden beams in the formal dining area were my favorite part of the tour. We also did the butterfly garden which was very much a Meh and I would recommend forgoing it.

$9 to get in, $5 for seniors. Tour starts off with documentary on a screen in theater room. Then its guided through entire house. Pretty neat. No photos in house, but outside and on terrace is ok. Great views of Ponce, makes you want to get some rum for after

Beautiful Spanish Colonial Castle converted into a museum, built on the northern part of the city (on a high slope) in Ponce with Spectacular views of all Ponce and the Caribbean sea and nearby small islands. They have a small air conditioned theater and we were privileged to listen young talented musicians. The ticket was a modest price and included one drink per person. This event was small and after seeing the three very talented musicians, I wished the event was better advertised so more persons could of been there. I found the event listed on Facebook then saw it in La Perla del Sur, a weekly free newspaper that serves the area. This would of been great for tourists, it should of been advertised in that venue also.

What a beautiful residence to grow up in. The family that brought you Don Q rum had this house built for them (think Downton Abbey in Puerto Rico). It is now a museum with very knowledgeable tour guides. Tours are held in both Spanish and English depending on the hour and you should book tours in advance on their website. Make sure to visit the Japanese garden and the observatory on the hill. Street parking at the museum, gated parking at the garden. Museum is available for private parties.

#CastilloSerrales This place made my trip everything the museum, the history, the tour guides, all tied into the wonderful atmosphere making you feel like you are a part of something historic and very special. Even the other visitors become your new friends. Our tourguide Yousely was well versed in the history of the castillo and she was so polite. Every employee we came in contact with did their part in making this a special place, Yousely, Conrad Wilfredo and Sonny. This place I will definitely do again.

The museum was beautiful! Our guide was amazing and extremely knowledgeable about everything. We had a large group attend the tour. The grounds were so awesome and beautiful. I highly recommend touring the castle.

This place is gorgeous. Learn a great deal about the Serrallés family history. Please dress comfortably if you are visiting during summer. Even though I loved the place I feel it need some love. Employees are nice and helpful.

Castillo Serrallés is a mansion located in the city of Ponce, Puerto Rico, overlooking the downtown area. It was built during the 1930s for Juan Eugenio Serrallés, son of businessman Juan Serrallés, founder of Destilería Serrallés.

The place is spectacular, though I did not enter due to this day was not open to the public.The view from up there is so beautiful.You can see almost all of Ponce.

If you visit make sure it is open. Google told it is open but it was not. No explanations why.

The house is very nice. The views are great. But I’ll save you the $12/person. Don’t waste your time unless you have a very specific reason for wanting to visit this museum. It’s a half hearted tour along with a 12 minute video ad to have your wedding here and a Youtube video about the history of the family.

Great place to visit. You can purchase tickets for just the Japanese garden and cross, the Castillo or both, which is what I did. You cant take pictures inside the Castillo, but you can from the balcony, which offers breath taking view. You can purchase drinks in the bar, you can drink it while watching the movie, but you cant take it with you into the home.

Beautiful place with a great staff. The tour this place provides really helps you see how life was for this family and the town the previous century. You can also hold private activities after 5pm and enjoy the the views and the beautiful gardens.We also went during Halloween last year and they hold a Haunted Mansion thats pretty fun.Its a must of you are visiting Ponce as a tourist.

A real surprise. We took a tour midweek, we did not attend an event, (the place is rented out for weddings, meetings, celebrations and the like). The house is fantastic and you get some history about sugar on PR. It was built in the 1930s and was never changed, but it was well maintained until Ponce bought it in about 1980. Its the best part of a museum and garden complex on a hill.

This museum took me by surprise when I visited for the first time. I didn’t even knew about his existence, nor the story behind it. Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. It’s story, architecture, gardens, and memorabilia takes you back in time. It’s a beautiful and peaceful place. Nice movie theater, were you will see a short film of not only the story of the Castle and the family who use to live there, but also about the city of Ponce. Nice café and souvenirs stores inside the castle. I liked so much that I’ve visited like four times. You can even celebrate the wedding on the gardens. Enjoy!

Beautiful museum at the top of the Vigía mountain. If you want to see how was the architecture and furniture from the 19 and beginning of the 20 centuries this is the place to be. And the view of the town of Ponce is spectacular. Be sure to try the coffee at the coffee shop, relax and enjoy the view Sometime they offer shots of different types of the Don Q and Serrallés rum line. Enjoy.

Beautiful experience, but the tour is way too fast, so you wont be able to see/read all the wonderful displays. Otherwise its good.

A really wonderful experience and one of the little things that makes me proud about this island. The museum is really clean, the staff offered a nice tour and they seemed to know their stuff well. The vista is beautiful and the events are really cool. To be honest it is not as expensive as I thought it would be (student price) and they also have a Japanese garden that is as beautiful as the castle.

A place to view the roots of one of the world most prestigious rums. The castle shows by legend how it grew up to become a permanent spot in history. The history of the Seralles castle goes back many decades but still lives in our daily lives thru its spirits.Beautiful place!

Really worthwhile tour. The house and grounds are very well preserved and the tour guides knowledgeable and pleasant. Great look at how mid 1800s wealthy Puerto Ricans lived. I dont recommend walking to the museum from the old Town area. While its only a half mile walk, it was no fun. The wealthy home owners near the museum all have multiple aggressive dogs that are allowed outside their yards. These people are selfish, fearful, disrespectful citizens of an otherwise very nice community.

Wish I had read other reviews before going. The tour was very limiting with no pictures, a large crowd that didnt fit into the rooms, and a very lacking gift shop. The tour guide would take us into the rooms of the mansion and explain the history, but half the crowd was in the previous hallway due to space and couldnt hear. The video at the start of the tour is a sales pitch for weddings and parties to rent out spaces they have. In the gift shop there was more Puerto Rico and Ponce branded items than Don Q items. I enjoyed what I saw, but expected more unfortunately.

Beautiful mansion and gardens! A lot of history inside. The only reason that I give only 3 stars is because the tour guide moved us too fast through the mansion, not giving us enough time to even read the literature in the exhibitions. He acted like he was in a rush to get rid of visitors.

I really enjoyed my visit. I recommend it.

I have visited this site twice now and enjoyed it even more each time. It is a quick history of the family who lived there and originally began the Don Q Rum industry. Easy to find way up on the high mountainside. The view from here is spectacular. Overlooks the whole of Ponce. Superb guides. Explain every detail. Stop at the bar and sample the rum before purchase. Enjoyed the movie as well as the walk throughout. No photography within the residence.

This museum was beautiful, and rich with the history of Ponce!! Our guide was amazing and extremely knowledgeable! The grounds were breathtaking and we are even considering getting married there! The Coco rum was delicious! This is a must see when visiting Puerto Rico!!

Very nice tour of an authentic Spanish revival mansion that has been around since the great depression and when cane was a major industry.

Interesting and unique, the Serralles Castle represents an important part of the history of Ponce and of Puerto Rico. As the home of the a member of the Serralles family, the owners of the rum Don Q, the castle is out o synch with the rest of Ponce. With wooden floors ftom Brazil, gold dishes from France, and furniture brought from Europe, it is a real castle built on a hill looking out to the Caribbean Sea.

Friendly staff, even though we chose the English your because we were short on time, the guide explained in Spanish to the little one that doesnt understand English.
