An old fire station interesting? Yes, surprisingly. Free and interesting.
Nothing to do, hear or learn. Just nice for a few photos, thats it. Shops around didnt even take debit or credit cards, only cash. All atms were down, bad for the tourism in an area that is already broke!
What a captivating area! With beautiful buildings, ever-so-delicious ice cream, and super friendly people!
I love it is beautiful place to visit in Ponce P.R a most see site
Nice historic museum in Ponce. Many people go here and is known at Ponce. Nice walk around the park. Relaxing
Its always so nice to visit here.
Nice place to visit take photos after an ice cream from kings cream.
Great little piece of history, place was well taken cared of
The structure was built in 1882 and was the citys central fire station until 1990. Due to its distinctive appearance and central location, it became an icon of Ponce. Painted in the black and white color scheme that appears on the city flag. It is now a museum and listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
Its beautiful! Very historic and worth a visit
Interesting museum displaying artifacts from old firehouse, including fire engine, pump, helmets, tools, and photos. Also contains numerous lions, the symbol of Ponce. The staff are friendly and will readily answer questions. The cost is free, but someone from the group must sign the visitors log book.
Very interesting museum of fire fighting history in Ponce. The Plaza as a whole is very nice, surrounded by many historical buildings. Some buildings and areas in Ponce are closed right now due to the recent earthquake damage but most are open. We also enjoyed Utopia Cafe, which is also a store with lots of tourist items, clothing, beach towels, and home decor items.
Most beautiful island, after not visiting this beautiful island since I was 16yrs old there is no other vacation spot that I want to vacation at.
We stopped by here for a quick photo shoot of the building since we were passing by Ponce on highway 2. This was on my list to photograph and of course we had good weather to do it. This is a museum with some of the older fire fighting equipment on display.
If youre in Ponce, this is a must see. Its a small museum but it is free to the public. Its a great way to learn some of the rich history of Ponce and the people who live there.
Really nice place in the small historic centre of Ponce. Free entry and lots of artifacts and items to see.
Unfortunately the place looks abounded. . Only 3 stores were opened
This is a firehouse museum. From 1883. Cool displays. Right on Town square.
If you want to visit a historical place??? This is it OMG you’ll love it
Everyone was very friendly. The tour guys was awesome would definitely recommend. One of the few places that are still open on the south of the island. My kids really enjoyed the history there. Thank you!!
Very cool. Great historical site.
Pretty cool cultural spot right in Downtown Ponce, in Puerto Rico. The town of Ponce is nice. One of the drawbacks are the amount of homeless on the downtown area. Other than that the place is nice with plenty of landmarks to visit.
Very friendly staff and was helpful to provide information. We did not book a tour group so it was nice to get the bonus of the background history of the station.
Beautiful historical place for all the family. Great neighborhood and restaurants around that you can try delicious food.
Nice place, but to many dogs on the street abandoned
Well maintained old building with fun painted lions and old fire fighting equipment
A must see in Ponce! Very nice service, and the guides are informative. Entrance is free.
A good place to discover our first fire department on this town and a little culture.
It is still available for those who enjoy history of Ponce.
Very cool fire station with a lot of history. I saw a tour going on but not sure how to sign up for one. Would of been nice to go upstairs and see the displays up close. Make sure to grab a pamphlet and read up. The firefighters homes are painted the same way and are only a few blocks away.
This is a cute place to see, but not worth a diversion from your regular scheduled trip. The “museum” is free but very small. I appreciate its existence, but it is not life-changing.
Historic place in downtown Ponce. Must see
A place where the past is alive and kicking. Although it is small, you feel so much history with just walking by. Beautifully kept and people respect its antique essence. It is an amazing place to take kids even though adults reminisce more here). Highly recommended.
Ponce - it is very nice town and friendly atmosphere, after you will have enough ocean / water - stop here and see what it is worthy to see....
So enchanting...history from Firefighters in 19th century Puerto Rico...they painted it so bright. But what I mostly appreciated was the gentleman who greeted us at the entrance. Was very kind and I got to meet a piece of our history and it felt surreal. Thank you. Ponce, PR
To the history of Ponce and to the life of a fire fighter in Puerto Rico. This place has lots of history worth the trip over if your in town.
Parque de Bombas in Ponce. Got here a little later in the afternoon but enjoyed an orchestra and trumpet players, as well as great piña coladas off the small food cart across from the fire house.
Great place to be near restaurants, hotels and a nice ice cream shop.
Aay my Puerto Rico how I miss you! Perfect for tourists and locals alike you will enjoy a variety of options for your shopping needs and also enjoy a staple of my hometown of Ponce. Love! Love! Love!
It is a nostalgic and well maintained touristic area.
Pretty nice and cool historic museum to visit. Only problem is there are a lot of crackheads/homeless around this town that ask for money from everyone. Other than that its beautiful to visit.
Nice experiece
Historic Firehouse in historic city of Ponce.. They have in display some of their antiques carts but at the moment the majestic firetruck isnt there got now. Enjoy ice cream and beautiful downtown structures..
Very nice place to visit, be ready to pay to go inside.
Beautiful town, very historic and safe Parque de bombas
Nice place to Visit in the Town of Ponce, Puerto Rico. Is part of the history of Ponce.
Old fire station of Ponce, Puerto Rico, its call Parque de bombas in Ponce. Nothing much to do. Other than that old memories from back of the days!
This place is beautiful very old and nice I do recommend to come visit this place.
Quick stop but unique place. Worth your while if in the area.
I visited this place with my family. This little museum was so cute and had so much history surrounding it. The museum really fit in with the dynamic of the town but due to its bold red and black striped exterior it’s hard to miss. Seeing the old fire truck was a treat for us because you don’t see them anymore not even in museums.
Lots of history!! Very nice experience and very well kept.
Boring... sorry... Nice but not really interesting. Souvenirs shop across the street is cheaper than in San Juan
Super nice tour guide let us in as they were closing. He was informative and enthusiastic
We went on a Monday afternoon and it was closed. It is an open structure so you can still see the fire truck and get some pictures. If you get there, you definitely have to try the ice cream shop at the base of the Hotel Melia in front of the Parque de Bombas. Its all natural fruit ice cream. Coconut + Mango... amazing. Its the best ice cream Ive ever had.
Such a neat little piece of history!
It was good day. Recommended
The park is beautiful and has many areas for relaxing as well as restaurants across the street. The fire station is open for viewing everyday but tours are open every day except Mondays. Stop by the shaved ice cart near the casino/Ponce hotel for a nice treat.
Wonderful experience, but would like for at least one firefighter to be present on weekends to take pictures with them. Thanks
Ponce Plaza is very cute and clean ;the historical importance and sense of community it gives is why maintaining the plaza for future generations should be a priority of the city of Ponces leadership I do see some things that can be done to make this magical plaza even more inviting, I hope the cities leaders do not abandon upkeep, and I highly recommend a vist to all tourists.
Cool place. Its odd they made the fire house look like a circus but it was educational
This place is amaizing for tourist. Is free for looking inside Im not sure if you have to pay to take the trolley. Also there is a gelato place in front of it that is real good.
It is small so dont think youll be there for no more than 5 minutes maybe 10!! It definitely showcases the fire trucks used back in the day and some very cool water tanks!! Its definitely a picture friendly place!!
Beautiful place, lots of history in it
Great history and nice people.
Nice place. Lots of things to see and my hubby was a firefighter for 30 years so guess we love it
My natal town Ponce . I just love Parque de Bombas .... They have a museum is a small one they have a lot of history of the fireman’s you will enjoy all of them .
Excellent Carnaval area!
I really really enjoyed walking through this area. I could just imagine the incredible potential this are has. Alas, 90% of the shops have closed down with tourist merely visiting to see this plaza and the old firehouse adjacent to it. Worth visiting.
So interesting and full of story . Well conserved and maintained. Nice Tour guides. The trolley tour is nice and interesting as well.
To know the history of this fire house and what it stands for, is to be proud to learn what really happened. I enjoyed my visit here and will recommend that you take the trolley and learn something new about the history of Ponce fire house.
A nice stop at Ponce PR. If you ask the front desk what time the tour bus stops, its only 2 dollars per person and a person takes you around Ponce tell you landmarks of the town. Worth the wait to listen to how Ponce grew to the town it is.
Its a bietiful old fire station with lots of history I. The middle of a bietiful plaza.
Always nice, reminds me of NOLA!
My siblings and I went to Ponce. At the Parque of Bombas we got the tickets for a guided tour through the city. We had a very enjoyable experience. We would like to go back again.
It’s a nice place with a lot of history. It’s small though so it should take like 10-15 min if you like reading the plaques under the pictures. They have old well kept equipment from those times.
It was great got to go in and take pictures. I havent been in PR since i was 14 years old came back to celebrate my 53 birthday with my Aunt and Uncle love them so mucho
It is a free self guided tour. You get a pamphlet with some information and history after signing the guest book. You could do this in about 5 minutes. There is a lot of history but all on your own. Highly suggest doing this with a knowledgeable guide. It should make it more enjoyable and informative.
Historicly speaking it should be a 5 star but the area around it has seen much better days. The amount of homeless and how filthy the plaza isBrings it way down. Couldnt even wait for me to park my car I was already being asked for a dollar
Beautiful plaza. Many shops around to get your Taino items going. Awesome ice cream shop with very crazy crazy flavors. Great place.
My family has lived in ponce for many years. This is just a ancient fire station that has been there for many years but sorry to say theres nothing else to see or do in the area besides eat from the fresh ice cream shop in front or if you want to spend at great seafood restaurant go to de jesus restaurant at 203 av hostos just a short drive away. have fun touring around puerto Rico.
A must when in Ponce. The colorful Museum of the Fire Department in our Town Square. See a real old Fire Engine. Have your picture taken with the backdrop. Dont forget to treat yourself across the streets with a Chinos Ice Cream. Sometimes you might have to just be patient and wait in line.Just enjoy it Island Time by sitting or strolling by the Town Square.
Beautiful and historic. Nice area. Cool fountains. I recommend.
Nice Historical building about the Firetrucks of Puerto Rico. Just make sure they are open before visiting.
One of the must see places if you come to Ponce! Very cool story and a lot of fun to see!
Was an interesting building and the staff was very knowledgeable, but not too much to see.
Beautiful and historical place that is all Ponce
This is a very small museum, more like a single exhibit open to the public. You can see it all in about 10-15minutes. Still worth doing because of the significance of the building.
Good place to take Pictures. And learned the history of their establishment of the park and the heroísm of our firefighters.
This is the oldest fire station in Puerto Rico according to the guide. It is located right in the center of the town square and free to enter. They have a neat group of exhibits explaining the history and plenty of photo opportunities inside of the firehouse. Upstairs is a collection on lions that were on exhibit in the city each one was done by a different artist and they are really cool.
Always beautiful
Nice photo spot.Excellent ice cream across the street.
Great historic fire house and equipment
