One of my favorite museums where I could see only ceramic pieces. There is quite a variation of pieces displayed considering the fact that this place isnt that big. I saw a collection of high school students work here which was awesome! I was amazed by all the work these students presented. Its so inspiring! Great museum!
Very interesting museum with several pieces from a master potter. Intricate designs with unique patterns. Beautiful showroom with bright glass cases. A potters studio is also on premises where several students learn from master potters. They also have a gift shop where you can buy some if the students work which are beautiful. The prices are also reasonable. Go give em a visit.
I loved this museum. The ceramics were of high quality. They have a small gift shop with beautiful items. My favorite part of the museum was being able to watch the artists create their peices. Make sure you check their website site for time and days they are open.
Beautifully Romantic and Delicious Food!Came here for my boyfriends birthday dinner and we were both entranced by the romantic and picturesque ambiance. We started at the bar and the bartender was friendly, outgoing and very helpful.
Well worth the drive to view their beautiful collection of ceramics. They lack for space, but dont lack for their utilization of it. Every wall has something to be admired or criticized. Stopped in when their PST exhibit on Kukuli Velarde was up, and had a chance to see their We The People and Mettlach exhibitions.Would love to visit again and see in particular their Mesoamerican ceramics. It was complimented well by the Kukulia Velarde exhibition, and I hope in the future they continue to highlight Mesoamerican ceramics and their affects on the works of contemporary artists.Their Mettlach exhibition is unfortunately squeezed into a hallway on the lower floor, but shouldnt be missed. Their main display, on American ceramics and politically-relevant current events show that this institution is not afraid to delve into politically charged areas of analysis. If you are into Millard Sheets, a beautiful mural extends across one whole wall. It is impossible to take a single picture of the whole piece. Definitely check this out if you are into California regional art.
A lot of nice artwork and pieces created by people who were talented in ceramics... They were about to close down the exhibit when our group arrived but they saw we did come from a ways away so they let us in check things out. Very cool the man that met us was polite and professional a plus all the way
Great museum with interesting and informative exhibits ranging from indigenous/ new world artists to European and Chinese cultures. Also they have a great gift shop.
What a fantastic place for the whole family! Great learning experience and information
It was very much well worth it me driving all the way from LA to come and look at all these amazing stuff
Perhaps little known and out of the way, but well worth a visit.
A lot of great history tied up in this place!
Reasonably priced, intriguing collection, pleasant staff
Well curated, ever changing, world class pottery exhibits (functional to sculptural). Wonderful gift shop with a wide range of pottery and a fantastic book selection. A good, small lecture hall with frequent guest artist talks. Phenomenal workshop space (wearhouse size, with so many kilns) where they teach classes, offer studio space, do workshops and more.
A place where Potters gather.
An amazing museum. Truly inspiring.
AMOCA is a great museum for the ceramic art enthusiast. I recommend the Juan Quezada exhibition.
So fun coming here on a warm afternoon2
A must visit. Excellent exhibits. New exhibit coming in a couple weeks. Great space, and the ceramics workshop is impressive. Classes are offered at various levels. Friendly staff and store has some interesting items.
Good for a one stop ..quick stop to say you went . You really need to be in to that kind of history to be jumping up and down about it. If you do make the trip pick up your groupon for it
Always a great place to visit. If youre an art lover, then this is a must!
Not many museums cater to ceramic artists, so for that I laud AMOCA, but I couldnt help but want more. The renovated bank which hosts AMOCA is clean and surprisingly modern, showing how much the curators care for the place. That being said, I thought only two of the exhibits were particularity strong and only one gave any context to the art within. Also, the entire time the silence and echoing empty quality made me feel a bit uneasy. I cant say specifically why but I felt like some background noise would have curbed the off putting feeling I got from wandering the sparse halls.
This is a hidden gem of Pomona. Really great studio space and galleries!
A world class museum in Pomona.
This is a really fun, intimate museum. They are currently working on having a permanent collection; however, in the main gallery are revolving works featuring some of the best ceramic artists, such as Elaine Katzer, Betty Davenport Ford and Chris Gustin (to name just a few!). You can also see works from the old masters such as Peter Voulkos and Paul Soldner. Attached to the museum is a wonderful studio where you can see ceramic artists working. The studio also offers a variety of classes.
This is a hidden gem of Pomona. Really great studio space and galleries!
Great exhibitions and inspiring studio.
A passenger pickup request showed this address but they were actually three blocks north of location.
AMOCA Museum is worth a peak.... Take pottery lessons here and who knows? You might just get a chance to work with various artists here.
So much fun stuff to look at not only that so much hands on stuff to learn about ceramics
Ive loved this museum all my life. Brought my 2 kids & 3 nephews here several times & now I get to bring both of my Grandkids here too. Little kids are always in awe & I still am too. I highly recommend this museum to everyone to pay this museum a visit or 20! Just pack a lunch cuz the prices at the food court here are ridiculous.
Love seeing all different
Good studio, large space, nice staff.
Great Huge Space, Funky Vibe
Finally took a look inside to find plenty of ceramic pieces for sale as well as books. They also offer classes and workshops and more!
Surprisingly large galleries + lecture hall for a local museum, thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon here
AMOCA is not only a wonderful museum, but also a studio where established artists create beautiful pieces and people who are interested in learning ceramics can take classes. There are many different classes and workshops held in the studio; including hand building and wheel throwing classes and workshops such as making your own brushes.
My dad had some work shown here. I had driven past the place regularly and never expected much. Its a nice exhibition spot and the people working there were very friendly and professional.
The stuff they sell were exspensive like 1 pin for 4 dollar but if trying to relax and have fun I recommend this place
Excellent museum...never knew i liked ceramics until coming here. Check out permanent Millard Sheets mural
Amazing permanent collection, great curators, great openings. A small but important institution in the SoCal art world.
