Good mainly for fishing. There are a couple of trails for hiking. Good views, not too busy. Lots of picnic areas. Bathrooms are clean. Very colorful nature; trees, lake, etc. Quit big. Lots of wild goose. There is a fee for entering.

Average suburban park. A few nice picnic areas and a small lake based upon a quarry resulting in views of just the surrounding high banks, a quarry operation across the lake from the picnic grounds and the busy Stanley Boulevard to the north. The East Bay Regional Park has fees for: entrance (varies by type of vehicle), fishing permit, boat launch fees (varies by type), dog fee (waived for guide/service dogs). Note that celebrating the EBRP anniversary the park is free of all fees until the end of 2019 on Fridays. You can rent boats here. Swimming in designated areas only. As of this posting date the trail around the southern part of the lake is closed for repairs and therefore there is very little area for fishing on the lake shore.

Live near by and bike to the park. The water is a great temperature most of the year. The best part isnt the main beach, but instead of you go all the way to the end of the parking lots there a small place where you can get to the water, its secluded and doesnt have geese all over it.

Good place to come and do a nice, calm hike. $6 to get in and park your car. I walked the levee and it was cool to see water on both sides. A lot of people come to one side to fish. The other side seems a lot more still. Saw people with dogs so it’d be a great place to take them too. Tons of birds. If you’re a bird watcher, this would be a neat spot too.

Would of been the perfect place to spend our Saturday with the kids. We didn’t stay had to leave because the whole beach was covered in goose poop. Every few steps my kids took they stepped in poop. They should have someone go around picking up the mess that would help greatly. It’s a beautiful location may try it at a later time.

Non-strenuous hiking in a natural setting. Dogs can be off-leash on the trails. Fishing, boating and picnic areas are not usually crowded. I am so at peace here, surrounded by the calls of quail, ducks and geese.

I enjoyed a peaceful day of fishing out on the open water in my new kayak. The channel catfish were recently stocked around the time that I went, but I didnt catch anything that day (which didnt put a damper on the whole experience). Ive never enjoyed swimming in the Recreation Area because its usually overcrowded and Im certain that the water there in that section is 90% urine. Shadow Cliffs is a wonderful spot for fishing though, and I highly recommend any fisherman to go check it out even if youre fishing from one of the docks or the shore. Bring plenty of bright Powerbait or salmon eggs!

Although the water slide has been taken out, the lake is still very inviting for swimming, fishing, kayaking, etc. It is a clean and pretty facility that is only a few minutes drive for anyone living in the Pleasanton area. There is also a small area of water behind the swimming lake that is a beautiful area for fishing and walking but not swimming. We are fortunate enough to live close by and can walk along a creek to the Park. It is a beautiful walk.

Review №59

Too expensive for what it offers. The water is dirty, there is pieces of rusty metal on the margins where people walk, the grassy areas are full of trash and the sand needs cleaning. Only one restroom was open and it was very dirty. $6 to get in is definitely disproportionate. Still, offers some reasonable sights and there’s plenty of parking area that is well kept. There’s wildlife which is also pleasant to watch. Needs love.

A great place for spending time with the family and friends. bbq areas, picnic areas also reserved areas for picnics and bbqs are provided, Bathrooms and handicapped parking available. Hiking trail is long and right along the lake. Opportunity to rent boats as well. Lake is clean and has a swimming area.

Ri
Review №61

Its a nice setting which could definitely use not only more respectable visitors, but more efforts to clean up trash. That being said the parking and fishing fees are not too bad, but why you have to pay to launch a kayak is beyond me. By the time you pay for parking, fishing, the boat inspection, and the launch, youre out $18... even if youre a Pleasanton resident. Meanwhile the minivan with eight people in it that rolls in from Stockton gets to swim all day and use all the facilities for $6. Seems fair.

Nice park but costly. They charge to get in, per pet, per kayak and even per inspection of kayak for invasive mussels (even though our kayaks were new). The nickel and dime mentality deterred us from coming back since there are plenty of free launch areas around.

Shadowcliffs is excellent. I go frequently to swim April -- November and to run on the many trails throughout the park. Theres an entry fee per vehicle -- or a yearly East Bay Regional Parks pass is $60ish/year. Youll see many family groups having picnics, BBQ, paddle boards, fishing, small boats, mountain biking, etc. During the hot summer its an outstanding place for kids of all ages. Alcohol is prohibited.

Been coming to this lake since I was a kid. Came twice in the last month and was disappointed both times. The bait shop doesn’t open until 10 AM?? While we were hassled and Endlessly through the boat inspection process for no reason, foreigners were literally jumping off and swimming off the fishing docks and nobody would say anything. Very disappointing. I suggest visiting Lake Del Valle in Livermore instead.
