Too hot. The trail is near to I-680 and very noisy. Nothing special in the woods and brush. No Creek. But it is a good place to exercise the body and workout.

Its a nice place to be outdoors but a better map system would be appreciated. Hot, dusty, bring water and dress in layers. Its about 45 minutes walking to the ridge.

Great place for a hike. There are many choice of trails. So, one can chose the trail based on the time available and ability. The difficulty of the hike was moderate. There are 37 car parking spots along the road. There is a restroom and water fountain at the start of the trail. The best part of the hike was the shaded trail and breathtaking view of the valley. The trail seems to be very popular among bikers, came across ~10 bikers. I would definitely recommend the hike.

Not much shade in certain areas. It is an okay place to exercise and bike. Started the trails in the morning and left the park in the early afternoon. The park can get really hot in the summer and crowded so I’m glad I went in the morning when it was cooler. The park is just like Sunol wilderness park but Sunol seems a little better in terms of views.

This is a great regional Park that is really close to Pleasanton city. The initial part of the trail has a very steep climb. Later the trail splits and takes you on the back of the hill. Once there, you dont see or hear any signs of city. There are olive groves and beautiful small ponds along the trail. The trail goes up and down past many pretty locations. Between December and March, the hills will be very green. Enjoy hiking, running or biking.

Va
Review №14

This beautiful gem of a regional park had spectacular views, and a couple different grades of elevation gain to choose from. The top views include the canyon, the Tri Valley cities, and Sunol wilderness, and is especially nice in the Springtime after a rainy winter. Its only a 15 minute drive from my house, so I can go from city to wilderness without much wear and tear on my car. Its a good hour hike, both ways combined, to the summit taking the steep switch backs. Watch out for cow patties and dont leave valuables in your car (ever).

Great hikes through old oaks with some scenic vistas. Lots of mountain bikes zipping by keeps you on your toes. Pay attention to poison oak of the trail and listen for rattlesnakes which are easily avoided. I saw none in two days and was disappointed.

Br
Review №34

This review is only for the Sunol side of the ridge. I entered the park from the Foothills entrance. This is an active mixed-use park with many mountain bikes, horses, cows, and hikers. Luckily, the trails are easily traversable with no major ruts or potholes to worry about (nevermind the cow presents!). There is one bike-free trail that meets up with the ridge trail at the top. However, the other trails are very wide and can easily accommodate mixed traffic. The views are fabulous. Everything from watching sad commuters be stuck on I-680 to Mission Peak and Mount Diablo. The trails are a medium grade with some steep areas and some nice flat areas. At the top, there are a variety of picnic tables and views to choose from. There is some shaded areas but its mostly exposed.

Jo
Review №36

Pleasant strip of parkland, sandwiched between a motorway and some private forest. Small number of mature trees that give a little shelter in summer. You will see some cows who dont seem to mind hikers, Kingsnakes, lizards, condors, mule deer and the occasional mountain biker. Walking paths are medium toughness, and there are simple gravel roads for 4WD vehicles. Nice views of the whole area.It gets hot in the summer, so make sure you know where the water tap is!

It is medium hike trail, half shaded and half not. You definitely needs plenty water and snack if you want. They have restrooms(just two, one per gender), and water fountains. There are plenty if parking spots, the parking is FREE.The good things for this trail was, unlike most of my previous trails I had full phone service during my walk (It is sometimes hard to find friends when you loose the connection). You can make calls and have access to internet.

The Pleasanton Ridge is one of the best hikes around the Tri-Valley area. You can make it as hard, long or as casual as you want. You can follow one of two trails up and have an adventure with where you decide to stop and head back down. If you intend to do the whole Pleasanton side of the ridge - be prepared for a good three hour hike with some steep uphill. Overall its a great day hike and has plenty of great views as you get higher up. Theres a good amount of sun cover depending on which trail you take but none of them will disappoint.

Absolutely love this place! This is a great ridge line to hike bike walk or run even. The best part being that the difficulty of the trail is dependent on what trail you choose because there are a few options! Amazing views, perfect if your a photographer looking for that one of a kind sunset shot! Four stars Because there is not a full service bathroom ( no sink/just a seat to do your business on) in addition they do not have any grills for BBQ.

Love this entrance location, with ample parking, beautiful views, public restrooms (though none flushable toilets or running water, still very clean and convenient) drinking fountain and faucet at main trail entrance. Plentiful trail options with two entrances from parking taking you up and along the Pleasanton ridge for walks, hikes, biking and horseback riding depending on your preference. Trails consists of large open fire roads down to small single track trails that are also clean fairly well maintained. Great place for long hikes or runs with over 10 miles of main trails (now more with additions on north end ) miles of smaller trails and options of taking inner or outer trails across ridge giving you choices when it comes to views, elevation gains, difficulty levels and places you wish to go if you chose to hike through instead of around the park. The beginning of the main trail is bit steep for beginners but doable and worth the views rest is average grade once youve gone past first couple hundred yards.

Steep wide trails to accommodate mountain bikers. Very hot in the summer with limited shade. Lots of views of 680 with traffic noise buzzing by and that spoils the views / experience. To get up to the top is slog and reward isnt worth it IMO.
