This is truly the most unique and well executed haunted house I have ever been to. Lucky for me, its open year around and specializes in holiday haunts. They have everything from Valentines Day haunts to Christmas haunts and everything in between. The production is top notch. All of the masks are made in house. The costumes are also made in house. The actors are great and really know their craft.I will be back year after year.
This is the haunted attraction by which all others should be judged. Tons of detail in the scenery, great theme throughout, effective actors, decent crowd management, lots of huge props and a great mix of mechanical props and live actors. There are many tricks Ive never seen before, and a lot of really scary situations, a bit of claustrophobia at times, a stinky sewer tunnel...Even the little add-on experience was well done. Ive been to a ton of haunted attractions and this is the best Ive seen. Cutting Edge is a garbage fire compared to this.
So if you enjoy really expensive props and people dressed up with cool makeup and taking pictures and spending 60 bucks or more depending on which tickets you pick. Then you can spend your $60 but if youre planning on getting scared forget it young kids wouldnt even get scared I promise you. I went with a group they had a 7 and 8 year old with them jumped maybe once. So its Kool..they spent a lot of money decorating for sure but its not scary.
I enjoy haunted houses and I like getting scared, Ive been to several in the DFW area but this one in Plano is by far my favorite, as soon as I drove into the parking lot there were scary creatures walking around. Other haunted houses have people dressed up that always seem bored but at Dark Hour they are so in character that I was actually nervous. After purchasing the tickets you dont immediately go into the haunted house, they check your ticket then you go into the waiting area which is really nice and the lights are on and for a moment you start to think that it might not be scary at all, after all it is Plano, how scary can it get? Then you go into the dark doors and scream your lungs out and your heart beats like crazy. I have to say, Dark Hour really puts so much attention to detail, from makeup to props, to lights and sounds, its truly frightening. When it was over I was so relieved to get out. We stayed in the exit lobby for a while and all the people that came out kept talking about how fun it was. Would I go back? YESSSS!!!!!!! I cant believe they have hauntings year round, can you imagine telling your family that youre going to a haunted house for Christmas? Cool.
This is probably my favorite haunted house in the metroplex, and we even stayed the night over in Plano just to go. They have houses going year-round and each is centered on a different theme. I really liked their Carl’s Playhouse but I am not sure they are doing it anymore. Overall, it’s great and I love that the lines are indoors and interactive as well. The staff is also super helpful. Be warned though: they also have scare actors outside :)
By far the BEST Haunted House that Ive ever visited!. I loved EVERY moment except the witch at the entrance - pretty spooky. It was an adventure with screams & laughs throughout!. We went as a group and stayed together. It does get extremely dark so be aware. The detail of the set, characters, and overall experience was amazing!. Will definitely return & highly recommended for 16+. Date night, group outing? Have fun & exit alive!.
We love Dark Hour! Great quality haunted house and they are open way more than just Halloween. Its an hour drive for us to get there so we dont get to go often, but we always have a great time!
This is truly a spectacular haunted house! I’ve been attending for just over 3 years, and it gets better each year. Most people overlook Dark Hour because it’s not about all the blood and gore. Each season, they have a specific theme that the main haunt ties to which means it’s completely different every time of the year you go. As an actor, Dark Hour creates insanely realistic sets, lighting, sound, and costume design that makes you feel as if you were actually living it. This is one of the only haunted houses that I’ve ever been to that can consistently scare you even after going through it many times in one season. They manage lines very well, and have stage shows as you wait in line. Another great part of this haunted house is there’s no “transition hallways” which take you from one scene to the next and can make the experience less fun like some other haunted houses in the area tend to do. Dark Hour completely redesigns the haunt between each show, so don’t ever expect it to be even close to the same show. I highly recommend attending this attraction, it’s so worth it.
I came here last Halloween and had a great time! Great bang for your buck.
They have two haunted houses at this location. I would really recommend purchasing a fast pass as the wait can be 60-75 minutes. The first maze is about 5 minutes long, I have been to many haunted house mazes and the designed and layout was completed really well. The asslysum haunted maze was pretty flat and short there was nothing in this maze that I have not seen before. It is $85 for two entry tickets with the fast pass.
It was okay. Not sure what the hypes about. Overpriced for what it is. The kids really liked it so perchance Im just an old fuddy duddy.
The VIP tour is amazing. Going behind the scenes and being a part of the haunt is so much fun. This the third year doing the VIP tour at Halloween and this was even better, didnt think that was possible. The long hallway where the lights go off one by one until you completely in the dark, then boom, lights come on and a scary creature was in your face, almost made me piss my pants. This years theme is Nightmare Witch. Check it out!
This is hands down the best haunted house I’ve ever been to. Normally I don’t get “scared” or jump too often in haunted houses and this did not disappoint! The set design and intricate detail were second to none. Even the smell in certain rooms, like the sewer, made you feel like you were really there. The Dark Hour portion was really long also and you get your money’s worth. I recommend going first in your group so you get the maximum scare factor. I’ll definitely be back!
This was my first haunted house experience and my boyfriends first haunted house in Texas. I must say, it was a fun experience! We purchased the Anabelle Insane Asylum combo tickets with it at it was $42/person.The props, costumes, lighting, special effects, acting/in character-- all down to detail! Im a visual person and I appreciated all of it. Youll feel immersed in the experience and as you wait in line outside of the building, youll have characters that will approach you and start getting you excited for the haunted house experience. I guess you could call it haunted house foreplay. Later as you wait for the interior lines, they will have a skit on stage. I loved the the theatrical element in entertainment. Now, why 4 stars and not 5? My boyfriend is 66, and we had a lot of squatting down for the navigation. We didnt mind, it was a great experience, but I wished it was indicated on the waiver somewhere online. Secondly, mid experience of it all, we gave our front spot to two couples that were behind us so they could be in on some of the experience. I can imagine how this could effect groups of people that miss out on the surprise elements and thrills. Again, it was our first time and we didnt exactly know whether or not we were supposed to go ahead or wait on our group? Perhaps if we had some indicator of what we all should have done, perhaps well involve everyone to have fun. But overall, we had a blast and now we want to do this as a yearly tradition :)
This is the second time Ive gone here and it was even better this time around. Not only is the environment itself amazing but so are the actors. I love it and its definitely one of my favorites. I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys haunted houses.
It was an average Haunted House - it had good characters, a good theme in regard to both Dark Hour and Annabelle however expected more however we missed the scare factor. The wife and I jumped maybe 4/5 solid times. Friendly advice, if you pay for fast pass as we did do not go behind anyone, go in front or ask for a possible 2 person group (6 is the norm) as the folks in the front get scared first and everyone in back all ready know whats coming. Not worth the fast pass, VIP... take the 90+ min wait time.
You can tell these people are passionate about what they do. The technology, the themes, the scares are all timed down to the smallest detail. My fiancé and I do not have an arts or entertainment background, even without one we’ve appreciated the professionalism it takes to pull this business off on a yearly basis. Very impressive show.
Such an awesome experience! Great haunted houses. Awesome actors. Couldnt have asked for more. Great night!!! Definitely recommend!!!! Especially for anyone who lives ves Halloween spooks as there favorite part of there year like I do
WOW! This was the first haunted house I ever visited and it was a whole lot of fun. I went in December for Wreck the Halls and everything from the set details to the marvelous actors was on point. I would advise that if you REALLY want to get scared then be first or second in your group. I went with a group of four and was third, and didnt get scared as much, but still had a lot of fun. Also, some of the reviews say to skip the Annabelle Asylum because it is short. Is it? Yes, its shorter than the original one, however, I actually enjoyed the Asylum more because it was more intense and carried a scarier tone and feel to it. Therefore, I am happy that I didnt skip it.Overall, do pay a visit to Dark Hour. Its worth your screams.
This was great! The jump scares were good and the animatronics were awesome. The only thing that was kind of a bummer was that we were not spaced out enough from the people in front of us, so a lot of the time there was a jump scare, they got them instead of us. We tried holding back a couple of times to space ourselves out, but there were people right behind us. Overall, it was a great experience and we will be back for sure!
Best haunted house I’ve ever been to. I will say that there Annabelle Asylum was super short and not worth the extra money. BUT THE MAIN HAUNTED HOUSE and the STAFF WERE SO GREAT that it still gets 5 Stars. Will go back
Such an amazing haunted house! Best bang for your buck for sure as the house is pretty long. The staff is fun to interact with and it’s always so fun to go.!
This place is great! Great price for a great haunted house. I liked that they broke groups up so everyone gets a good experience instead of being bunched together. Annabelle asylum was shorter than the main one but still a good scare.
Me and my ex went here! Outstanding set up for Halloween
Best haunted house experience Ive been through in a long time and I go to all of them pretty much every year. They change up their game each time Ive been too. Definitely worth it. Get the combo and go through the smaller one first.
I went with my husband and bestfriend and we were very impressed!! We have never been here before and I definitely would be going back! Now I would be lying if I didnt say I was a little skeptical at 1st because I read about it being about vampires and witches and I knew it could be either very cheesy or very good. Needless to say I couldnt be happier with my experience. The characters were amazing and the visuals are not to be discredited. Great story line and just a overall great experience!!!!! If you want a good scare I would definitely recommend Dark Hour!!
Unlike any other haunted house Ive ever been to. The production that goes into this place is aww inspiring.
Its a year round haunted house! Good quality one also. Didnt give it a 5 cause of the price.
I recently moved here in April. Was told about this place and wanted to check it out. Most amazing haunted house i have ever been to. It was scary and fun at the same time. I usually just laugh at the cheezy things in a haunted house, but this place got me several times. I recommend this place to everyone.
The sets and stage show were cool. Not scary though. More of a production than a haunted house in my opinion. We still had fun.
The haunted house is great. The staff is amazing. My mom is in a wheelchair and they assigned a staff member to guide her through. He was super patient with my mom and made the entire experience amazing.
This is a great place. Top notch production value and dedicated employees make the experience well worth the price. Seasonal shows throughout the year. Check it out if you like a good spookin.
Great place to go to when you wanna feel spooked! My only concern is halfway through the haunted house, I felt dizzy/nauseous because there was so much happening. Everything happened at once and I felt like I was going to faint. The good news is afterwards, an employee checked up on me.The attractions were well made and was accurate with addressing your fears. It made you feel pure fear and put you in a fight-or-flight situation. Most haunted houses are cheesy/not scary, but I can definitely say this haunted house was worth it.
Went to see a wreck the halls tonight… They have stepped up there already great game! The show itself was amazing and really scary! But Annabel’s asylum afterwards scared the bejeeses out of me! I wasn’t the only one who came out of that place at a dead run! The sets are Hollywood quality, the actors are into it and it shows! There’s a reason I keep coming back to dark hour for every show… They totally killed it this time!
More comical than scary. The set designs were fantastic though! Great lighting, props, designs..just not um scary..like its supposed to be..
Had a blast and got scared real good! Need to come back during different times through out the year. Thanks everyone who works there, you did amazing!!!
Dark Hour is an amazing haunted house! The production was phenomenal! Had the best time going, definitely worth the money and making going to Dark Hour a tradition!
Scenery was awesome, back story was great as well. Scary, not so much. If I had tweens or young teens I’d allow them to go, they’d enjoy it.
I brought my sister for St Patricks day and can only imagine how it is during this season! We love this haunt and cant wait to be back! Very, very impressive!
This is a great haunted house. Takes about 30 minutes for the main house and 10 min for the 2nd house, made up mostly of great actors. Very fun.
A little pricey, but theatrics and environment are amazing. This aint your mommas haunted house. Two experiences on site, one classic jump scare and one high end immersion experience with high quality surroundings. Take time to become part of the backstory. We had a great night.
It was just ok. DEFINITELY not worth the full price of $45! We paid $25 because of group discount of >15 people. But spend your money somewhere else
Open throughout the year, quality amount of scares and time for the price paid. They dont touch you, but they are so fast that they come really close. If in a group, dont have someone who is bad with directions in front. There are a lot of twists and turns and the actors do their best to not break character but still guide/scare you to the correct direction. Good restrooms, merchandise, photo-ops, and professional staff. 10/10 would definitely go again!
Best haunted house Ive ever been too! Cant wait to go again!
Free parking. Awesome, detailed, scary, fun, long, worth the money haunt. We go every year, and drive an hour or so to get here! Worth it. Alsi its an inside haunt so especially if its raining, its perfect.
Super busy on weekends but we flew through admissions and got in. Never felt rushed or taking too long. Great service. Awesome acting, animatronics are sweet(huge ones also) and scares are good! New to Haunted houses. 2nd time here. Will be back for winter.Great place for date night.
The wait was too much. The cost was too much. It was not very scary at all. There was a small HH in Arlington that was a lot better at half the vost. I will not go back here:)
Definitely a great production. Good value for the money spent. Just wish it was scarier.
I wear a $60 dollar costume of penny wise and an actor complains about me scaring people when I was standing next to me dad and toon 4 pictures with people if y’all are worried about pay then got to party city and buy you a costume and don’t complain that someone is more scary than you. BTW the house is not scary
Love this House! Scared me too many times to count.Halloween is ALWAYS the best but Valentines and Dog Dats of Summer were excellent also.
Best haunted house in town. Come back every year.
Has a great time here! It was my first haunted house and I wasnt sure what to expect or if I would even be scared. It was a blast! They definitely got me to scream on more than one occasion and the ambiance is just out of this world. I cant wait to see what the other holidays are like - Im 100% coming back!
I go to haunted events all of the time. We just moved to Texas and was so excited when I saw an ad for this attraction. There are 2 houses, but we only did the haunted house, so that is all this review will cover. Upon arriving, you are greeted by creepy characters and pleasing staff. We arrived at 7 p.m. and got in within 10 minutes without having to buy a fast pass. Let me say that this is BY FAR the prettiest haunted house I have EVER seen. You get so distracted looking at the snow falling, amazing displays, and props that you forget you are about to get scared. I dont jump normally in these places, but let me say, I was sweating, laughing, and checking my heart rate after completing this. In the 20-30 minutes we walked the path, we were in awe, and then scared...awed, and scared. It was an ongoing processes. You will be AMAZED by the utter creativity and beauty in this scare house!! When given the chance, GO!!! You will thank yourself!! We laughed and screamed so much that our stomachs and throats were killing us! Best night in a long time. Thank you all for a job VERY WELL DONE!!
Very well put together. One of the best I have been to. Great staff. Will be back in October.
Was just there yesterday and got to say it was a great experience. It was my boyfriends first haunted house and he enjoyed it! Only thing I would recommend is not letting too much of a crowd in as it takes a lot of the excitement away. It would be better with no lines inside the actual haunted house and more of a one on one experience. You can definitely tell someone invested their good penny. Would highly recommend!
Best haunted house Ive ever been to. Already planning to do it again next year!
Hands down the best haunted house Ive been to in 2016,17 and 18..ready for this year keep up the good work!!
Very good this year. There was more pop out scary then not, but the good scary was amazing. Level of detail was fabulous. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it. Try and get there closer to open. The line gets huge after 8.
Best Haunted House Ever! So glad we went to both and well worth the price.
It was amazing! Definitely the scariest haunted house Ive been to. I almost cried. We went for St Paddys and the music and decor was on point. We went with a group that had been there before for a different theme and they were super impressed. The witches asylum that was a optional addon at the end and it was insane good.
The scenery was great as well as the sound system, but they let us in too fast and none of the actors scared us not one bit, it was great 2 years ago, I dont know what happened, sorry
Great overall haunted house, unfortunately ruined by overcrowding. Had the group behind us constantly running into us, and kept running into the people ahead of us. They don’t wait long enough in between sending groups and it ruins an otherwise amazing haunted house.
We went to both attractions, the 25 minute Dog Days of Summer and the 10 minute Annabelles Asylum. Both were wonderful. The first was fun and the werecat costumes were pretty cool. Annabelles was shorter but scarier and was just as much of a blast. The only thing I didnt like, and this is personal preference, is in the first attraction, there is a section where you have to walk through these two bags filled with air. It is a longer walk than you realize. Im claustrophobic so I freaked out half way through.
I was a little disappointed with the haunted house. It was really short.I liked some aspects of it but it was a bit underwhelming.
The cast, the atmosphere, and just everything about here is amazing. The best haunted in the state of Texas.
Loved the experience & would recommend it to anyone that enjoys the thrill of a haunted house.
I liked the experience at Dark Hour for St. Patricks today. I wonder if Halloween one if as good as it was today. I liked that if you in front theres lots of twists n turns n u can get lost
Had a lot of fun coming here, the people are friendly, and it was an exciting experience. While going through the whole scare fest, I really liked what the theme this year was. I cant wait to take a look at next years theme. The people working here are pretty talkative with everyone and they do a good job at keeping you entertained. I do recommend people to come here if theyve never been here before, really cool experience. The shirts and hats they sell at the end are a really nice buy, Its a nice thing to have a sort of memento for the experience.
It was pretty good. Worth the money . Not as scary as I thought
Sorry to say Im disappointed in this haunt. Read all these great reviews and how it was rated so high, but it was hardly scary. I get scared pretty easily but only jumped a few times. Im really wondering if these reviews are real, and just what made the reviewers think this was scary. The scenes are very detailed and the show as youre standing in line was great. The actors walking around outside were great as well. Everyone was helpful and friendly, but the scares are just not there. Very light crowds and we still caught up to the group in front on us. Bummer. If youre into sets, props and detail youll love it. If youre into getting scared, this isnt for you.3 stars for all the work they put into it, but 2 for the lack of scares and the cost
I went to their post Christmas show and it was an amazing experience!! The set design, large animatronics, and actors were top notch. I definitely felt I was in an entirely different and twisted world during the tour. I cant wait to see their other shows they do throughout the year!
Great attraction. I am a horror attraction lover, and have been to many, this is the best one. The indoor bathrooms halfway through the wait was very convenient. The attraction itself is well put together. Every turn I took into the next room I was not disappointed. I recommended this to anyone who loves halloween and horror attractions. The wait may be long but its well worth it.
Amazing! Shouldve had a better ending. At least the classic chain saw.
One of the better haunted houses Ive been to With steph
We had the best time we will be back very well done
Love this place. Wish there were more that was wheelchair accessible.
Lots of good props and details! Cool to observe,There was a lot of people so we could see what was upcoming for us, so this wasnt too scary!Only few moment that really were scary to me, such as walking through the closet or the hallway with the bed. More of that would have been so great! So scary.
A great experience at the Wreak The Halls, the fog they use smells good, and doesnt burn the throat or nose. The house itself is both beautiful and scary, in all the right ways. You can tell that a great deal of effort is put into crafting the costumes and prosthetics. They keep an RN on site in case injury does occur. And most importantly the bathrooms are some of the most well maintained that Ive seen outside of a personal home of one that has OCD. Great job Dark Hour, I cannot wait to come back.
Absolutely terrible experience. Staff separated me from the small children I was with, causing the youngest to go into a true panic, leading to an asthma attack. When the employee stopped me in the haunted house tour saying I had gone the wrong direction I tried to explain that my goddaughters had just gone around the corner and that was afraid to go another direction fir fear of becoming separated. He insisted that the way he wanted me to go would “shortcut” to a place where I could intercept them, but the direction he forced me to go bypassed the entire last half of the tour putting me outside the exit. When I went back in the door the staff called security who physically forced me out of the granted house maze. The girls didn’t exit for another 10 minutes and the youngest was being carried by a kind woman who told me that my goddaughter had become hysterical and frightened and was sobbing uncontrollably because she couldn’t find me. Once I had calmed her down and things had settled a bit I asked to speak to the manager. I had waited nearly 20 minutes when a police car pulled up outside. The officer asked to speak to me outside where I learned that the staff person who had forced me out of the maze told his manager that I had pushed him and that I was dangerous.I am sorry for such a long explanation but I cannot describe how poorly this situation was handled. I understand the importance of tight security, certainly, but security staff need to have listening skills as well as muscle... a parent or guardian should NEVER be physically forced to separate from their 8 year old child. They certainly shouldn’t be tricked into exiting the haunted house after becoming separated. I cannot express the feeling of helplessness and frustration I felt which was compounded exponentially by the staff’s utter incompetence in dealing with such a scenario. And businesses like this should be fined for wasting police time. To realize that during those 10 minutes of anguish (both my goddaughter’s and my own), worry, and panic, the only concern shown was towards me, with absolutely no regard for the situation, the child, or the fact that she and her sister were the only two people from our group of 20 who hadn’t emerged from the maze (fully 10 minutes after the rest of group had exited) is as unforgivable as it is completely preventable. All it would have taken to avoid the whole mess was to have allowed me to follow my kids (even if it wasn’t the way that they wanted). Every single one of the other people in our group of 20 had gone taken the same turn that I was taking...I was the last in the group because the girls had gotten frightened, slowing us down a bit. The girls had gotten 10 feet ahead of me and had just taken the turn when a person dressed in black stepped out of a nook and pointed me in the other direction. If that person would only have listened to me, or would have had any sense at all, he would have let me follow them and this would never have happened. If you go to this haunted house, you should be very wary of this, esp. if there is any chance your child might get scared. I wouldn’t go back to this place if it were free, frankly. Even though the experience was terrific up until we became separated, management’s handling was so outrageously inept and so unapologetic that all I can remember is how angry and helpless they made me feel
Great experience... Went on a Sunday so the price was excellent.
Fantastic haunted house! 10 star production quality. Also unlike many haunted houses, it wasnt just a bunch of unneccessary over the top gore. It was instead just good fun. Even if you dont like most haunted houses, this is a must!
All I can say is WOW. I went through the haunted house last night thanks to Kim and Amy and it was spectacular. Never a dull moment and the staff were friendly and accommodating to all the guests. Each room was filled with horrors and thrills behind each door. Definitely a must see!
Havent been this year but i have been to moxley manor and terrir trails and all the other ones and there is nothing comparing to this one absolutely amazing Im 33 and appreciated the hard work the put in
Annabelle house could be longer, its very short. But the other one is amazing
It was good. Was expecting more
Best year-round haunted house in Dallas! We go to every show and always have a great time! What makes this one really standout is that throughout the year the theme changes so every month its a new experience. The whole place is also indoors so weather is never an issue. Clean bathrooms, online tickets and my personal favorite - Carls Play House!!
This place was absolutely amazing. when you buy tickets and walk in, there’s cool props and electronics. the feeling of being aware of your surroundings might come, but if you look in the wrong direction and turn back around, there’s somebody already scaring you. there are so many jumpscares and people and sounds and it’s great. definitely would recommend. the wait may be long but they have several things to entertain you and it’s worth the wait.
We attend every haunt year around. Very theatrical and professional. Always a great scare as well. Love the cast and staff! I wish I could give it 666 stars!
