Had a wonderful covid safe tasting today! Highly recommend for a chill family picnic with delicious wine.
I love this place! Deb is awesome and so outgoing and personable. The tasting room is nice and intimate and they have expanded it. Weve been wine club members for years. Theyve had very few vintages that I wouldnt drink, and all have a very distinct Fenton Herriott flavor. They do fun activities and social offerings where the owner cooks the food and everything. Wine club has flexibility. Definitely recommend checking it out.
It was my firts time there or doing wine testing for that matter. From the moment we got there both the ladies were so friendly and my girl friends and I had a great time. We will for sure be going back.Thank you so much, great services, great view, great experience.
We love going to Fenton Harriot. The wine is great, but Debbie, one of the ladies that works there, she is such a special lady. We go to say hi to her just as much.
Every January Fenton Herriott holds an event called Blending with the Wine Maker. We attended this year for the first time. They had 4 wines to sample from the barrel and then set you loose with your graduated cylinder and beaker to blend away. You have 3 chances and then submit your best blend for a blind taste test by the group. The prize for the best blend is 4 bottles of your choice. We may have had a better time than most because...we won. What an honor to have them bottle our blend for the Friends Blend available in the tasting room.Well be back next year to defend the title. Come on up and give it a try. The Staff... awesome, the wine... something for everyone well and worth the trip to Placerville.
Very nice vineyard and tasting in Placerville. Excellent staff and great selection of wine.
Awesome place, staff was super friendly, great seating with awesome views. Definitely worth a stop.
Fantastic place. A gem of el dorado county. Great staff with a real in depth knowledge of their products. The cheese plate is a perfect addition to a tasting.
Had a great time as always. The staff is beautiful and accommodating. Had a great time bottling our own wine. They never faile.
Incredible visit for 4th of July! Wine flight and food pairing was wonderful and our server was great!
Beautiful setting, friendly and knowledgeable staff, & great wines. I don’t normally like or drink whites but I LOVED theirs.I attended one of their “wine down Wednesday’s” and had a blast. Yoga, wine tasting, all while surrounded by beautiful scenery... you can’t go wrong!
Great wine friendly staff.
We enjoyed the food, and wine. And the owner took the time to answer questions about growing grapes.
Beautiful property, friendly service, and great wine!
Wine, views, staff, location, events and wine... all amazing!
Beautiful setting, great wine
Visited on 11/9. We did the BYO (bottle your own wine) experience. Would not return due to our interaction with the manager Debbi, who refused to seat us for a tasting, despite the fact we called in several days before. There are better options in the area. Bottling experience was fun. I’d stay away, though you may have a better experience if you’re white (the other groups present at the same time got noticeably better treatment). As soon as we walked in, the staff member who greeted us (who turned out to be the manager) was extremely hostile and rude to our group. After refusing us tastings despite calling in the week before, we purchased 9 BYO bottles and were told to head to the cellar, no other explanation.Getting to the cellar, the bottler was really nice and was really surprised we didn’t have a chance to do a tasting. He explained that each bottle we purchased actually included 2 tastings each and suggested us to give the tasting a try.We returned to the tasting room where the other person working 6/9 sat of us. No explanations given for any wine we tasted. During tasting, the ‘manager’ was demanding ‘what do you guys want!?’. After asking for explanations, she kept saying in a very rude way, ‘you drink it.’ They didn’t pour the whole flight of 7 wines for us.
Fenton Herriott is a wonderful boutique winery! Highly recommend putting them on your list of wineries to visit when youre in the apple hill area!
The staff were very awkward, rude, and unprofessional towards my friends and I even though we were there for a birthday and had called ahead in advance to let them know. We were hurriedly ushered to the BYO (Bottle Your Own) wine experience by Deb. The BYO was a fun experience on its own, and the staff member (who was kind and much more patient) in charge of BYO was surprised we hadnt had a chance to taste the wine yet.Once we went back to the tasting room, we decided to give it a go since 2 wine tasting fees were waived with the purchase of a bottle. Another staff member led the tastings but was very blunt and didnt explain any of the wines to us. Instead, she aggressively asked which wine we were at each time we were done so as to hurry up our tasting. This was strange because she seemed very hassled when pouring wine for us but took her sweet time joking around and talking to the other customers who were white unlike us.In summary, the wine wasnt very good and if youre not white, I would be wary about going here for a wine tasting.
We always hit Fenton Herriott winery during the El Dorado Passport weekend. Great wine, delicious pairings, barrel tastings and wonderfully kind staff. This year was no different, I bought a bottle of their Chocolate and Cherry dessert wine (YUM!!).
Always enjoy our visits and tastings.
Very tasty wine, Awesome picnic area
As I was the designated responsible non drinking adult of our party and I dont drink my review is based on my groups opinion of the wines. They have a nice and inviting tasting room and it can get quite loud when more than ten people go in. Their complaints were that the wines alcohol content was not balanced with the flavor of the wine they expected. The wines were around 12 to 14 percent but the group concluded that it tasted far higher, almost as strong as liquor. If that is your preference maybe this would be the place for you, but it wasnt the case for our party.
Deb met us at the door, inviting us in with a big welcoming smile. We tried ALL of their wine and had trouble picking which one we liked the best. Well, we ended up buying a mixed case with almost one of every kind, having them ship it to Texas. Meeting the wine maker was a treat, too. This vineyard is small, but packs a big punch. Stop by, itll be a real treat!
This is my favorite winery in the Sierra Foothills. Great people, and the best wines. Reasonable prices too. Dont miss the Petite Sirah!
Love their reds and especially the people in the tasting room!
Great wines. Staff very helpful
If you like reds...great place to taste and go home with a good bottle! Debbie is an awesome hostess!!!
Long time member of their wine club. I have only kind words for Brian and Guy.
Great little winery with a good selection of wines.
We are not wine snobs but these wines were the worst we have ever tasted. Ugh. Sorry.
One of the nicest hosts we have encountered during a wine tasting. Dog friendly. Exceptional wines. Great cheese ^-^
We love this place. Great wine, but greater people. We love the reds the most.
My favorite winery, great people in tasting room, excellent wine. Wine club membership the very best.
Good wine and fun atmosphere!
WORST WINE we have tasted!
Fenton Herriott is our favourite winery in Apple Hill and weve been wine club members for many years. Debbie is one of the main reasons that we have participated in events and made a point to stop into the tasting room when we are in the area. The wines are always high quality, refreshing, current, and suitable for personal drinking as well as gifting. Weve introduced many friends to FH through gifting wine.Events at the winery are also a great time, especially during COVID-19 times. They are creating a safe outdoor atmosphere for guests to enjoy food and beverages in a socially distanced way, right there in the vineyard.Guy (the owner) is so friendly and always makes a point to talk to us when we are there for events, and as mentioned, Debbie is a real treasure and she knows all her wine club members and regular visitors on sight.A real joy to visit every single time!
Stellar wines - each better than the previous, friendly, sincere customer service, pretty location - including a fun bocce ball court. Can’t wait to return!
Debbie is always so knowledgable and awesome.
This winery is the best all because of Debby!
Great wine, great people, great views and bocce ball!
This winery is a jewel from excellent wine to a very knowledgeable staff. And friendly to boot.
Went on Saturday afternoon of Labor Day weekend. Manager was nice, other lady was abrasive. Wine was mediocre with a couple of bright spots (Zin and Tempranillo). Grounds were nice and peaceful, but not awe-inspiring.
Great dessert wines!
Uses unsafe cleaning/sterilization processes, in cellar. Be careful, you might get sick from incorrect and insufficient cleaning practices.
