Great place for kids and adults alike. Almost all the exhibits are hands-on, from water works to space exploration, from human body to robotics and all in between. We had a 3 hour visit and my 6 year old didnt want to leave! We also saw the mummy exhibit. Worth the time for a family fun with scientific learning. Will be visiting again for sure.

We went to see the mummies and it was amazing. Some of them were Egyptian and some them were mummified naturally. Two of them were Egyptian priests. A young but knowledgeable guide shared a great deal of insight. When I asked about the scarab on the chest of the lower ranking priest, he said that he was probably well loved by the people. He was careful to say that was just his opinion and it could be wrong.Absolutely enjoyable trip. I wish we could have spent more time there.

Was a nice place. Very clean. Missed the planetarium shows. The submarine was a cool experience. Wish there wouldve been more for children younger than 9 to do that they could understand. Not a bad price for all that there is though overall. Was there from 12:30 until 5

SO MUCH TO SEE AND DO! You will spend 3 - 4 hrs here!!! This is if there isnt another exhibit. I appreciate that they allow you to leave and you can come back as long as it is the same day. Ver y knowledgeable staff...very personable and courteous. I have a happy 9 yr old!

We had a great experience here as adults. Spent about 2.5 hours but easily could have spent more time. $20/person felt worth it. So many cool hands on science exhibits to experience! The robot was my favorite part but we also enjoyed seeing real human specimens that were donated to science and the Brain Power Show with Kristina. Definitely recommend. Though it wasn’t crowded, there were more people than we expected on each floor. By now they are probably upping capacity so it makes sense. Tons of hand sanitizer stations everywhere you go and the staff are very friendly! Wear your mask!

We had a blast watching our little one explore the world around her. We explored and learned just like our daughter. So many fascinating facts brought to life with all the exhibits.We got the membership so we can come back more often. We decided its definitely worth investing in for childhood (and adulthood!) development.The train exhibit was by far the biggest hit for our toddler. Its incredible the attention to detail.

Great place to visit for kids and adults! There is something in there for everyone - physics, biology, chemistry, astronomy/space and electronics/robotics. Many exhibits are hands-on experience, making it a lasting memory. There is also a detailed model railroad with the city of Pittsburgh which is a must see!

Our 11 year old granddaughter loved all the interactive hands on things to do. The Mummy exhibit was very interesting and we all loved the light show. The sub is awesome and so was the guide. The miniature village is AMAZING. Each house was hand crafted. The gentleman was interesting and informative.

Security guards have nothing better to do then walk around and harrass 2 and 3 year olds about their masks. Overpriced and dont recomend

We have been members for years and have found the rotation of exhibits keep us coming back. (The lego exhibit remains our favorite, especially since we met the creator). My older kids enjoy the auxiliary building (SportsWorks), and special fab lab events; whereas, my youngest loves the submarine and could stay on the fourth floor for an entire day. We all enjoy the planetarium, and enjoyed the Rangos even more during COVID. We have yet to try a sleepover or adult night, but I have no doubt they would not disappoint.

Had A good time. Unfortunately, some things were shut down with coronavirus. Wasnt crowded. Hard to see everything in one trip. We were unable to.

We were worried about not being able to find enough to do as two adults at a kid centered place but it was amazing.We came to see the mummies and we stayed till close just looking around.The guide Liz that we met in the mummy section and saw again by the Water station was so pleasant, she told us so much good information.

Awesome place to go for a nice couple hour visit. Kids would love this place, a lot to learn and experience! Reserve a time slot during COVID so it helps stagger large groups

The staff were not very friendly as they walked around like the mask gastapo and the second your mask slips down they are practically standing there with a tape measure ready to tell you where your mask should be on your face. It was honestly somewhat of an inconvenience for my family. The staff made it feel creepy and weird. They were pretty much just standing around peering eerily at you waiting for the moment when you are talking and your mask slips down or you are adjusting your mask so that they can come over and yell at you. Its a shame when you follow the rules and do your best and are a paying customer but treated as an inconvenience and a nuisance. Im not one to complain but would warn folks coming to visit to beware of the mask gastapo.

This place is really fun. We went here last year. It is really cool. We love this place. If you like science, music, space, robots, and weather, this is your place.

This was pretty cool. The kids liked the water table stuff the most. There are two different ones here. There are LEGO’s and a few other play areas for them. I did not do the mummy tour as it was extra. The laser show is pretty cool. Overall good family trip.

So happy to see them open again. And very happy that we did not miss Mummies from around the world exhibition.

Great place to visit for family with kids. 4 floors of fun exploring.Forth floor specially designed for little kids - under 6 years old.Second floor - everything about space, robots and train. It was very popular place for both of my kids - 3 and 12 years old. On this floor they have small and free of additional fees planetarium.Museum maintene very well social distance requirements and keep everything clean.I am strongly recommend for fun and education experience.

I loved the stuff there where you could float in the air but I couldn’t do much since I didn’t have tennis shoes but it was cool

It was a good time with lots of shows and hands on activities. We went without kids and still had a pretty good time. Also it was a Saturday and the crowd size was about as expected. There was a lot of people, but could still easily move around and do activities without much of a wait. One recommendation is to give yourself plenty of time and plan your trip to skip some shows and you can see and play with exhibits faster when shows are going on.

I do NOT recommend Carnegie Science Center during covid19 mask mandated time period! The tables you eat at are dirty and food all over them, but they will harass you over a mask in one hot second. They have people everywhere harassing you to wear your masks correctly or you will get a warning to be thrown out. You pay top dollar as preCovid19, yet half of every thing is closed because of covid. Save ur money!

My rating is probably not fair to some degree, but its my experience so Im sticking with it. This place is just not geared towards adults for the most part. My favorite part was the miniature railroad exhibit which brought back so many memories of visits to the Buhl Planetarium as a kid. Beyond that, almost everything is here for kids. I guess I just expected a little more variety.

My girlfriend, and 3 year old had a terrible experience. With the floor manager heather. We were targeted from the door about wearing our masks properly we have conditions that restrict our breathing. And we try the best we can to wear our masks the right way this was disregarded by heather. As if she had a personal vendetta towards my girlfriend. We ended up getting escorted out by the police .

The science center has so many amazing things for kids to learn about. It’s really such a great time!

Great place to take the kids. My wife and I went on our own and had a good time. Theres lots to see and do. The sports section is really great to get the kids involved.If you go take the time to go through the submarine, it was an eye opener how confined it is and very interesting! (One small note, you will come out with a hint of diesel smell on you).A great location to visit if youre in town.

Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental. Long ago the four nations lived in harmony, but everything changed when Biology attacked. Only The Carnegie Science Center master of all science knowledge could stop them. But when the world needed them the most, they were there. Place is freaking lit! 10/10 will come back- Katara, probably and me

Very fun for your little ones just seeing them have fun is fun,theres a theater and laser light show and the theater goes almost all the way around fun activities highly recommended.

Very good science center with some wonderful rotating exhibits. It was great to see The Art of the Brick again so close to home. Always fun to go to the regular exhibits with the kids, too!

Visit during Sensory Awareness Day:The Carnegie Science Center provided an excellent experience for those with Sensory issues. Lights were turned down and the volume was lower than normal. The Carnegie Science Center offered a variety of activity tables on each floor for people with sensory issues. The staff was very friendly.The Science Center also offers a planetarium, Rangos Movie Theater, a submarine and a newly remodeling dining area.

Wish it wasn’t so expensive but love to visit once every few years. We saw the Mummy exhibit. Took our time and thought it was worth the extra 12.50 a person. The train room is always a good time.

Lots to see and do! The exhibits are thoughtfully designed and interactive so you learn while having fun. I’m looking forward to seeing the changes the new expansion and renovation project will bring to this Pittsburgh gem.

We had a great time seeing the mummy exhibit here. We came on a Saturday so it was packed with kids, but there was still plenty of room to walk around and enjoy stuff! My favorite thing was the robot throwing the basketball into the hoop. Also, they have hand sanitizer stations all over the place (which I appreciate).

Adult review: the train area and the submarine are epic! Great entertainment for adults and children alike. The mummy exhibit, while extremely cool, was a bit short for my liking but that could be because Im VERY into watching mummy shows. So, most of the facts that are listed were things of general knowledge. However, the mummies and the artifacts are unbelievable!The submarine is pretty mind-boggling and a tight fit! The items included that are on display are just amazing.The train area, which i thought would be my least favorite, was actually my favorite. Make sure to ask one of the conductors to take you on a tour.... Totally worth it!Everything else is just meh (for adults that is), because the center is very oriented towards children. And thats okay! No complaints here.

We have been members for years and LOVE this museum. Our visit was the first time since COVID and I was so pleased with the way the museum has handled cleanliness and social distancing. Although some of our favorite exhibits are closed, it makes sense that it is the exhibits too difficult to clean adequately between use. There were regular sanitizer stations and staff attentively wiping things down. Great place to take the kids to get out of the house for a few hours.

Everything is clean and they are taking the necessary precautions. The kids still love it and learn so much every time they go.

My family and I drove from northern Virginia to visit. As a huge Steelers fan, this was a great place to take my family for a not so football experience in Pittsburgh. When we visited, the art of the brick by Nathan Sawaya, was on display for an additional admission charge. The exhibit was well worth the price of the admission to the museum and the add on charge. We didnt have enough time to really experience the rest of the science center, but we really enjoyed our time.

Such a fun museum! I LOVE the model train village and the Requin!

Awesome place for toddlers, little and big kids. Very hands on. More exhibitions being built so not fully operational but more than enough to keep my boys busy for hours. The submarine was a huge draw and didnt disappoint. All loved the miniature railway, changes from night to day every few minutes. We visited during a very hot Sunday, was supposed it wasnt busier. Food selection was great, cheap and very tasty! Something for picky toddlers and grown ups wanting a bit more sustenance. Staff were smiley and friendly to all.

Need a day of fun, mind boggling adventure? Then you are headed to the right place! Science fun for those who like hands on participation and for those who like to get those neurons flashing too! The laser light shows are late night fun! They even have sleepovers sometimes! When my children were little they loved this place and as adults, they still do.

Amazed at how great this place was; so interactive and fun for my 4 yo and 6 yo (and for dad too!). Price was reasonable for all it included and staff were pleasant and helpful. Also, you get dibs on the science of sports complex next door, which was crazy challenging and fun. My daughter and I had a fantastic bonding experience doing the ropes course - shes 6 and I am afraid of heights :)

Carnegie Science Center is amazing and their programs and exhibits are outstanding. We went to the Leonardo Davinci exhibit a few weeks ago and couldnt ask for anything more! Lots of artwork and working examples of his mechanical concepts. Many of which the kids can play with to get a better understanding of physics and how Davinci has contributed to modern society. We had no idea how hands-on the exhibit would be. It is truly an adventure for all ages!

Great place. Lots of interesting exhibits, Imax theater and you can go through a WW2 submarine! Liked this the best.

We spent an amazing rainy afternoon learning, playing and soaking in so much fantastic creativity at its finest!! The Art of the Brick display was phenomenal and for any child or adult who has ever loved Legos or still does, (even people who dont will appreciate it) this is truly a magnificent display of dedication, artwork, determination and lots of hard work. This is a very talented man who needs more recognition around the world. There is also water play while learning, animals to learn about & see up close, how light works with different objects, NASA play & learn area, movie theater (New Grinch movie in 3D was playing the day we went), and an old submarine that was in use for 23 years with 81 men on board that you could explore & see what it wouldve been like. So much to do, see and learn about in a fun & exciting way for young & old.

Too expensive for limited exposure ... $20 for science center? This is very expensive in terms of opportunity of interactive learning and actually know a science behind it . There are other similar places which wont cost you this much and very good learning experience

Amazing place.Great venue for entertaining kids and nerds of all ages. There is an abundance of exhibits and interactive displays throughout the entire building.It could be an all day family outing, an ideal place for a class field trip, or a fun way to spend an afternoon playing air hockey against a robot.

Went to the Mummy exhibition. If this is the largest collection of mummies Im disappointed. Way over priced for a 30-45 min exhibit.

This place is amazing! For such a low price it has everything you could ever wish for! I mean seriously, I remember going here for my birthday sleepover party when I turned 10, it was such a blast! I mean we literally slept on the top floor below the robots, and it was just so much fun, seriously you need to go here if you havent been here, but make sure you bring someone with you.

The Da Vinci exhibition is going on until the first week of August. So, we drove from State College to Pittsburgh just for it and it was really worth it.First of all, we are in members if the Buffalo Museum and we thought the exhibition was going to be free but it was not. It was 8.75 per person—regardless of the age.The exhibition is two flats full of architectural examples of Da Vinci’s creations and drawings. There is one side about art, one about weapons, one about physics.On the other hand, the museum has everything you want to see to entertain the kids. There is a science floor about water movement. Don’t miss it.Outside of the museum in the water there is a submarine SS Corbin (I believe). Give it a try to go in, it is part of the museum.

The 3rd floor and the trains are always fun. We come to.this museum at least 4 times a year and maybe go to the body section once a year and the robot area 1-2 times a year. Wished the body area got rotated out once in awhile since the only thing that really entertains most kids on that floor is the fart chair. The sports area is nice, but my daughter gets scared of the small climbing area after she puts the safety gear on, hopefully she will eventually outgrow the fear. Shows/movies are always good.

It was fun. Very interesting for kids and adults. Id recommend packing lunch because the food is not very good but very expensive. Also its ok for smaller children but not that much to do for kids under 5 Id say except for the third floor

Great place for kids... or without! We stopped during a weekend trip without kids and still had a good time. We will definitely be coming back with the kids! The laser show was cool, the movie theatre experience was awesome, and the submarine we toured was definitely a new experience! There were a lot of hands-on interactive learning areas for the kids... and even adults. Lots of kids around, but the place kept everyone moving between exhibits and shows! This will definitely be something your family will enjoy and remember!

What a great experience. Will love bringing my kids here some day. Bathrooms and cafe kept clean. Cafe was confusing with the straws and lids (they were in the oddest locations, not bear the soda fountain). Also noticed they sold a couple of canned beers. Paid extra for a mummy exhibit (dont bring toddlers in to something like that). The submarine, robots, mechanics.. a lot of hands on fun. Also paid extra for an IMAX show about apollo 11. Great theater but consessions was a joke. 4 women were sitting on what appear to be a break, not sure if they were even responsible for the consessions but one gal was behind the counter with absolutely no hitch in her giddy-up so we watched without popcorn and soda to risk not seeing the show

The museum is very kid friendly, the things around the museum are cant misses and are very cool. Would recommend this place to anyone visiting Pittsburgh.

It was a tough call who liked it more me or our preschooler. So much to see so much to touch went there during busy Thanksgiving rush with a game in town and still had plenty of room to explore. Completely worth the membership.

The Science Center is a fantastic place for adults and children. They have a fantastic Aeronautics section they each floor is separated into a different theme. The staff is very friendly and courteous and the food is very good. And every time you go there you learn something, like this sign that I found in the bathroom that I posted

Great Place! Ive been going there every year since I was 6, great place for most/all ages! All the improvements to the building have been good for the most part. I dont really like how they have removed the indoor roller coaster but I can understand it was for safety measures or such. Anyway definitely recommend for people!

I found the museum quite impressive. But the toilets were just optimum moisturizers and really helped me out with the cheese flavors and lettuce

If you are going to Pittsburgh with kids, this is a definite must-see. It is priced similar to discount theme park tickets. However, you might as well plan to be there all day, the kids did not want to leave. This is a really cool place, but please do yourself a favor and go to the adjacent Carnegie Sports Complex first. I believe the admission tickets covers entrance to both (if my memory serves correct). My family and I enjoyed the Sports complex more as there were more physical activities for the kids and adults. The science center was nice, it had a number of experiments and history, which is great, but it was painful making the kids read the captions for everything they were looking at. The train set is beautiful, but the kids wanted to look and go. Since this was a six hour drive, we are reading everything....***Bonus: The museum offers free admission two days per year. And, you can see the building from the Duquesne Incline

Super fun and not too expensive if you just do general admission. We took our 12 year old and were there five hours. Did the ropes course, Roboworld, body exhibit, planetarium show..everything but the mummies part. Great for a cold or rainy day!

It was a good time but needs a little updating. A good bit of the interactive stuff did not work very well.

Our kids love this place! Exhibits rotate throughout the year which makes every visit unique. The coolest part is that they make the exhibits accessable to all ages and abilities. The only drawback is the food court. Pack a meal or go somewhere else for healthier dining options.

We visited during the sensory friendly hours. It was not too crowded and some exhibits were modified for people sensitive to sensory. Our daughter loves the science center. She has so much fun at the water tables and the robot exhibits.

I didn’t think just seeing the mummy exhibit was worth the $20... which would be added to the regular cost of admission to the science center. I also thought it was ironic that they say not to take pictures inside the exhibit “out of respect,” but as soon as you walk outside of the exhibit, there’s a gift shop full of pictures and books of pictures of those exact mummies. Oh, and parking is an additional $5-9, depending on how long you stay.

Great new exhibition mummies of the world a must see! In addition to the four floors of hands on fun and learning and the sports center.... Try some zip lining!

I really enjoy myself everytime I come here. In the past Ive visited the Science Center for myself just as much as I have for the kids. They have so much to offer that I wouldnt know where to begin listing it all. Its worth going through their website thoroughly, looking at their calendar, and even joining their mailing list to be kept in the loop with their upcoming events.Ive never left disappointed, and only regret not visiting more often.

Saw the Pink Floyd laser show before they closed due to COVID and it was amazing!

Overrated daycare center not meant for children older than ten. Exhibits are lame, if they work, and the place is too overcrowded. Kids not waiting their turn and jumping lines. Ive been to other science centers in different states. They were better organized and actually had science. Typical Pittsburgh. A non science center with a rotting submarine, that is no more than a overcrowded daycare. Save you money on this overpriced feeble attempt of a science center.

I love going to the science center. The shows in the electric, cold and hot stage is excellent. I love the year round train display . I would recommend visiting when in Pittsburgh.

The train and robot exhibit was really great and the staff was very friendly, sadly they removed some of the better exhibits. Maybe thats just nostalgia talking, but its still a great place and I would highly recommend.

Not that impressed. Paid to get in, NO ONE checks. There were very few staff to guide your experience. They are doing tons of construction and the place is full of dated and worn displays. Many were out of order. Submarine closed at 4:30 in the afternoon on a Saturday. Overall, very crowded and not well managed. Online purchase of tickets is not available.

This is nothing but a money trap. If you have 2 kids you are going to be $80 dollars in the hole just to get in the door. You will have to pay extra for any show or the submarine. Way to crowded. You have to wait in a line to get your hands on broken exhibits. Only reason I gave one star is because my kids had fun. They could have had just as much fun at a playground for free.

This was a positive experience all around. There is so much to learn. I believe its best for older kids but there are a lot of fun play areas for little ones. I strongly suggest to go early on a weekday.

This place is pretty cool. Lots of cool and interesting exhibits. That said, it kinda loses its luster after the first visit. Cost $20 and was out in 2 hours. The movie theater is super cool tho. Id recommend the theatre to everybody. This is not a good place for super young children. Id say wait til they are at least 5 or 6 to take them. It was super busy on Sunday. I think a week day would be better. Overall a very nice cool place to spend a few hours. Give it a shot.

This place is just an awesome place to take your kids, even your date to. Its filled with interesting and interactive exhibits. It also has a theater that shows document movie (you have to pay for it though: $9/person.) i watched Apollo11 and its a very well-made document movie. It has 4 floors and each floor has different exhibits. They are mostly interactive and very well presented. I enjoy almost all of them and i, as an adult, find them very entertaining as well. On the second floor, it has a planetarium that have free shows you can watch. It has different shows at different time.
