Interesting look at remains of old locks. Hard to walk around to see the entire area.

Lets be clear, I am the President of the American Canal Society, so I thought these were very interesting. There are five locks in this short linear park. All the locks are in a flight about a quarter-mile long. Lock 1S was recently reconstructed and looks very new. The rest need some TLC, but I applaud the State for doing what they have done to preserve these reminders of our canal past.

I took my dogs and my husband to visit the locks. An amazing place to visit. If you brush up on history the great Flood of 1913 highly effected this area because of the canal that ran through town. Though because of the flooding the canal was abandoned and mostly filled in. The locks still remain and run into the Miami River, where if you walk down to the embankment you can see where the old bridge was before the flood destroyed it. Great town if you love history. Check out the houses near the locks you can see where they were underwater.

Great historical location with preserved locks from the Miami & Erie Canal. The first lock by the road is the highest point of elevation along the old M&E canal.

Not much in way of parking markers. Prolly worth reading up on the Miami Erie canal before visiting since there is little here in the way of historical markers. I have been told the brick house near the locks is the lock keepers house (private home). Quite engineering feat. Allow 45 min to hike and see all 5 locks. Lockington Dam is 5 minutes away and worth a drive by (one of 5 built to prevent flooding in Dayton)
