The only good thing about this school are some of the teachers that care. Other than that I would never go to a school where the dean doesn’t care that a teacher isn’t teaching. Any other community college is better. Save your money, save your time, go to a school that is full disclosure on courses you need for a degree.

Most colleges have excellent tutoring services, like at the 4-year college I attended, before taking classes at PVCC. Unfortunately, the writing tutors at this college are TERRIBLE! No help, not friendly, and they dont seem to be good writers themselves! Am I supposed to take writing advice from a BAD writer?? HIRE BETTER TUTORS! HIRE folks with better people skills! The learning center at this college desperately needs new management. Waste of my tuition money.

One Star for the amazing teacher I had and one star for Matthew at the help desk, over all the administration at this school has NO idea what they are doing. Advisors give wrong information regarding test (the story on accepting the classic accuplacer changed from person to person) along with Federal financial aid requirements (until its too late and then they tell you owe them money). Financial aid and Student Advising need to get their house in order. Would not recommend for a distance learner, no matter how cheap the credits are. Do not listen to anything that any administration tells you.

Its a great school and the teachers are fantastic but you have to watch the office administration. They like to change classes that youve already registered for and not tell you about it. Also during the summer the staff seem very lackluster about their job.

I loved my time here for the most part! The CPD teacher Dr.Mendoza is amazing and very kind, it was a perfect welcoming to the college life. Another great counselor was Donna Mosher, she is very kind and will help you with any problem needed. The reason why I am only rating 4 stars is that they allow the male photography teacher to ask students to pose nude for his side projects. But only after they are no longer attending his classes and no longer considered his student. Thats his loophole. I was 17 at the time and very creeped out, my parents and I even had a meeting with the higher ups of the school. PVCC did not believe it was any big issue at all to have a teacher ask underage students to pose nude for payment. He was only placed on a short suspension. Lack of evidence was never the issue- only their disregard. It was an actual email I received and he even admits to asking students to do so. Itd be nice if other students who had a similar uncomfortable experience would also share to the counselors and higher ups. I think that profession is fine, but taking emails from your student lists and giving unsolicited offers in exchange for their nudity is not okay! Especially not a minor. But besides that issue and their lack of concern for their students safety, I did enjoy my time here. The other wonderful staff and kind students made it a memorable experience for me and quickly made forget my bad experience.

I have been attending PVCC on & off since 1990. There have been a ton of upgrades to the campus since I started & the number of programs offered has increased as well. I still enjoy the quiet, small community feel that you get from attending the evening classes. However, the campus is quite crowded during the day...not that it is anywhere near what you would get at a university.

Only programming class they offer is actually a class on how to work in groups with a little bit of programming theory. Second nearest community college uses the same lazy teacher too. If you care about your grade, avoid, because somebody in your group wont want to put in the effort so youll have to. If you dont want to put in the effort, join a group with people that care about their grade so theyll do the work for you.

I had a great experience at PVCC when I was working on my transfer degree. I see a lot of negative reviews here and I understand that everyones experience is different... however, I think youll get out of it what you put in (to sound super cliche). Had a couple wonderful teachers that Ill remember over most from the state university. Never had a single problem with the support staff and was able to accomplish almost every administrative task with zero support (financial aid, registering for classes, etc.). Overall, a great place to knock out those easy early credits.

I like PVCC so far. They have a great staff. youre probably wondering why i removed one star from a perfect rating, right?Well, there is this lady named sue who works in academic advising. Sue is not very knowledgeable of what she is doing. As a matter of fact, she needed assistance with every question I asked. Even more, she failed to remove a hold from my account that was pending the process of my financial aid.Not a very flattering woman is sue. Hopefully the system will get rid of her . If it doesnt, then i recommend double checking the progress of holds if you see sue. keep an eye on her, watch her like a hawk, and be sure to complain complain complain if sue cannot do things right. She will get the message, and admin will place her under a 7 month investigation.

To be honest, this campus has options available for every type of student. If you want to just jam out and get a 2 year degree, you can. If you want to set yourself up to transfer to a University, you can do that too. Or there are nursing programs, fire science, and more. If you are the type of student that wants to just go to class and get your work done, the campus is a relatively centrally located with minimal travelling between all of the classes. Or if you want to boost your collegiate resume a bit and go that extra mile at school and in your community, this school offers a variety of ways to give you the opportunity to get involved and succeed. The students and faculty are willing to help you out, you just have to ask (or say just yes because they will probably ask you!)

Paradise Valley community college is a great campus for me and here is why:I am VERY active in asking for help and checking things out BEFORE MY DEADLINE.If I have a problem I check with MORE THAN ONE counselor.I asked where to find a progress report for the associates that I wanted. (Mine is science)The report told me all the classes and avenues I could take. My counselor translated some of it for me.I wanted to go to a University after PVCC and I asked them to help me make a schedule to go there the best way possible. They helped me step by step.I asked questions when I needed answers and did so respectfully.I told them I had a weak bladder because of a medical condition that I had and needed to leave on occasion sometimes on the FIRST or SECOND DAY of class. (100% of them were okay with that)I did my homework AND turned it in on time.I filled out the FAFSA and it helped pay for most of my college and scholarships ( yes that means I had to dig up my parents tax forms with their help ) I signed up for paid for more than the rest. You work hard and ask for help THEN you get results!

DO NOT GO HERE. I have never seen such an unorganized, rude, non-caring institution. The teaches do not care about the students they teach. They are only there for a paycheck. The administration/councilor/enrollment offices are even worse! Customer service is the last thing they care about. Even the bookstore employees act like your not even a person. Bottom line, DO NOT attend this community college. By going literally anywhere else youve made a wise decision! Im being generous be just giving this community college one star!

PVCC is a great community college that is around a great area. This college is not to big but not to small either, I feel that it is just right. I have been there for a year and a half now I have made many great friends and memories on this short journey. This school is very easy to navigate around and has many many great places to have your needs met. The KSC building is the place for that. It includes the welcoming center which has financial aid, help to get classes set up with an adviser, and counseling. There are also other great places in the KSC such as the testing center, veterans center, Puma Press, the book store, public safety, career services, and also student life and leadership as well. Student life and leadership is a great place to go to if you as a student is looking for involvement and also receiving leadership skills as well. Lastly I would have to say that this community college is a school that I will always remember and know that I got a great education out of it as well.

PVCC is a great place to begin your college career. The faculty and staff are very helpful and try to make sure that you start off on the right foot. The tutors at the learning support center are very good and they help get rid of those pre-final jitters. The game is also a good place to unwind after a long boring day of classes. All in all PVCC is a good place to go to figure what you want to do with your life.

Phoenix College is the best way to go. I agree the teachers dont care nor do they want to help you succeed. The advisors dont listen. The only good thing about this school is the astronomy teacher Mrs. Weitz shes a great instructor. Which is why I am only going back to this campus in the spring and going back to PC in the summer and fall to complete my degree. Instead of waiting in line or call during call center hours to register for class at PVCC. PC offers instant messaging I can register for classes and clean dishes at the same time.

The advisors are hit or miss. I took two classes one semester that I later found out are absolutely worthless. I also tried to register for classes one day after they started and they have a brand new policy that forbids this. I now have to change to another college because I missed one class which is the most pointless one, the first day. They always allowed this and they changed it out of nowhere. I guarantee they will have a significant reduction in enrollment due to not being a very student friendly campus with these new policy changes. Oh well I went here 3 semesters but looks like I will never return or recommend.

Students BEWARE: If you have a car problem as battery needing charge and you call the school staff in charge of it for help, check your battery poles before letting them connect the charger. This guys are not MECHANICS.They help my fiancé but they connected the wires in the opposite way (negative with positive and positive with negative poles) and burned the main fuse, alternator, battery and all fuses, cost me a lot of money to repair plus the towing fees. The college is not responsible for this expenses because in order to help you you must first sign a waiver.

Hey guys! Im writing this review to let you all know about my experience with PVCC. Ive been to a total of four different colleges, and have experience under my belt. What I dislike:1) Admissions staff is not knowledgeable of My.Maricopa: The first place most students call at a college is the admissions office. During the time I began the admissions process, staff did not bother to explain where admissions packets must be submitted. This would be frustrating for any student out of high school and any transfer student looking to further their education. They loose a star for this.2) Admissions could be more welcoming : As mentioned earlier, admissions was not helpful. In emails,a woman named Lori responded very vaguely with only one sentence responses. After speaking to Lori via phone she was vulgar, not knowledgeable, and left me on hold for 40 minutes until i hung up.The Good:3) PVCC offers many online courses: Lets be honest here, PVCC is in the middle of nowhere surrounded by mountains. The scenery is breathtaking, but boy is it a long drive. To compensate for this, they offer several online courses.which is WONDERFUL!4)Administration Is mostly MALE : Men (especially white men) are heavily prone to scrutiny from female scholars. I advise any male who is searching for a college to be aware of who the administration is. Colleges who have female administration obtain a higher ration of female graduates. While colleges comprised of mostly male administration, obtain a more equal ratio of male to female graduates. Several colleges nowadays are being seized by female administrators who employ a mostly female staff - thus resulting in a system catered to females, and more female graduates. The fact that PVCC has a mostly male administration is refreshing in comparison to the four colleges Ive attended which were all governed by females. I would advise any male to attend this college because their likelihood of successfully graduating is increased.I will update my comment later, hopefully after graduating from the program I am interested in.

Terrible financial aid office. You go in and all they do is tell you to go online and fill out a form. Never mind if you have trouble finding the form or need help filling it out, they give you a number to call. After being in the office numerous times over the past 6 years for myself, friends, and family, I am still not sure what purpose the staff at the financial aid office serves. I also personally had a problem with enrollment verification. They told my student loan servicer that I never attended my first year of college, therefore when I graduated, I had NO grace period and a negative history on my credit report for missing payments that never should have been due because I was in school. I wouldve made the payments but both the loan servicer and pcx assured me that my enrollment verification was going to go thru. Its 6 years later and I still cant get this school to give me documentation of the classes I attended.
