The place has been renovated to a much better condition. The actors are so talented. These actors deserve millions of dollars for their craft. The staff are so nice and professional.
Just visited this theater for the first time, for the show My Fair Lady. An old theater, but the staff, theater character, and all actors were great! Greeted with an enthusiastic hello and welcome at the will call desk! Beverages and snacks were available before the show and also during intermission. The theater itself had a center stage and open seating on each side, holding about 60 or so people per side. Music throughout the production provided by two (dueling) pianos hidden at each end of the stage. Finally, all actors were great, but 5 stars for Eliza Doolittle, played by Leigha Kato, and Henry Higgins, played by Gregory Isaac. Each delivered their lines with ease, Leigha Kato superbly transitioned from the Flower Girl to the Lady. Her singing voice, for all of those famous songs, was amazing. Despite the aging theater, the show came alive with great energy, singing, and acting. Would recommend and I plan return for another show!
I saw the Quintessence Theater Group play Frankenstein here in September last year. Wonderful! Every thing about this theater tells me that I will pay more attention to the performances that are here. I had a very positive experience in this beautiful theater.
It was awesome. We loved one man two guvnors. The theater is beautiful.

Great Little Theater! We saw Oliver it was very well done! Some amazing talent I especially enjoyed Nancy!
Excellent talent exhibited !
Saw “Awake & Sing!” last evening and it was phenomenal! The production, direction, lighting, setting and, of course, acting!, were truly incredible. Highly recommend it!!
After living in Philadelphia for over 15 years, I just discovered this theatre while driving by it last week.... and I’m over the moon with excitement that I did!My boyfriend and I decided to check it out and got tickets for Mary Shelley‘s Frankenstein. It was an amazing performance and we absolutely loved everything about the show and the atmosphere! The staff was so friendly and you could feel their love of the play house by how they welcomed us as guests for the evening. These particular actors really knew how to do the most with very little on set and it was perfect! They were able to draw you into the story, make you feel the portrayed emotions and even brought tears to my eyes.Quite a few of the actors in this performance played several roles and were able to carry off the different characters with true individualism. The theatre radiated with all of their passion and dedication to the storyline and the characters that they played. You could feel the emotions between the families, friends, lovers and foes. The complex dialogue was delivered flawlessly and all of the actors used their bodies, movements on stage and expressions to aid in telling the story. It was masterfully done!If you haven’t seen this play, I whole-heartedly encourage you to, you won’t be disappointed! And if you can’t make it to this one, explore the next one. After this first experience, we agreed that we will definitely be going to every show that the Sedgwick Theatre hosts and will be telling everyone we know that this is one of the best hidden spots in Philadelphia! My only hope is that they will become more known, as they should rightfully be at the top of list of Philadelphia’s best play houses!
I loved it, very quaint. I enjoyed the play Oliver, excellent production. Will be returning to the Theater again
The Segwick productions are Broadway worthy.
Great production of one man two governors! Go see it!
The acting and singing for Oliver Twist were were emotionally engaging. Loved the staging, costuming and the choreography
Very small theatre. Wonderful cast, crew, costumes. My Fair Lady was thoroughly entertaining! Pure Fun!
Nice community theatre with great actors.
We enjoyed a wonderful performance of Awake and Sing.
The Art Deco styling is marvelous!
Surprisingly disappointing! Went to see Julius Caesar today and it was probably the worst production of a Shakespearean play I have ever seen. The acting was marginal, at best. However, David Brusasco, as Brutus and Paul Hebron as Julius Caesar, were outstanding. The remainder of the troupe would have difficulty landing a spot in a high school production. I realize the budget is tight, but there was absolutely NO effort put into making the costumes or stage faithful to the actual play. They marketed the play as Julius Caesar but it isnt until the curtain is about to draw back that they slip in the word progressive in during the introduction. That means characters running around in Desert Storm camouflage for battle scenes, business suits, business suits underneath togas during the senate scenes and practically no atmosphere. Along with a re-crafted script and some butchered lines, they manage to ruin one of Shakespeares finest works. Audiences with no critical eye might enjoy this sort of distortion and dont care about the numerous gaffs, but our group found it unappealing and disgusting.
Had a great evening, going back again.
Interesting (if a bit tedious) production of Mary Shelleys Frankenstein.
