Cart path is a total joke. The signs for the tees are hard to find/see. Only been here once and locals were just walking thru the course right in front of my play. Needs better paths, signs, and fences. Not 2 starring because price was reasonable, although I understand why now.
Greens are very good. Most fairways are good. Tees need to grow. Good staff
Pretty decent public course, need to fix some of the tee boxes and cart path (which apparently theyll be doing soon). The greens and fairways were in good shape.
Great friendly course.... Revamped holes... Cart path leaves something to be desired
Played this morn 10-18-20, good service & communication from employees. Slight delay due to frost but its October so its expected. Will play JBGC again
It was a decently kept course, and the service was nice, but they let the locals walk their dogs on fairways, and on the 16th holes, about 10 teenagers came and started hitting random golf balls with a club they found. I called the clubhouse and nothing was done. Several golfers had to wait at the tee box for the kids to finish goofing around before safely teeing off
Course isnt too bad, the cart paths could use some leveling. But a decent affordable course to play.
Been playing this course since I was a kid. Easy to get around, some challenging holes, good track
My friend was sayinf new clubs wouldnt matter hence the video. But shows for a lack of fundage how nice the greens actually are and how fun a place it is to golf. Bumpy ride. But they have new paths etc in the budget for nest year. Did beautiful brifges this year! With help from community!!
Still needs a little workBut a nice course
Fairly priced. Nice course
Decent for a public course, but head on a swivel for constant incoming balls.
Finally upgrading certain areas. The bridges, the carts, the course. Way better already then last year.
Between all the drunken hackers and the mud on the fairways, what a miserable track. If you have any alternative i strongly advise you to take it. Unless you like the smell of raw sewage, then youll certainly enjoy the short par 3 13th. Place is an ab disgrace!!
Staff at this course are amazing and friendly. Being a member is an excellent value, and the member clientele have great comradery! Rumor has it that there may be new management next year, and aside from investing in cart path maintenance, I hope this place remains the same. Best deal, and best staff around!
Nice people good prices
Its not the best course around, but its been improved over the last few years. Still challenging, still fun to play, and still brings me back.
A good place to whack a few balls...a nice place to spend an afternoon...a good sub for private clubs
Nice old layout. Short:5200 yds. Green are in good shape. However, a lot of the tees & traps are in bad shape. Price is right. Couple of brooks meander thru the course & challange your tee shots
Good
Nice course
There hasn’t been grass on these tee boxes in years..only thing Ok about this course is the greens and fairways.
I have golf here at least 100 times throughout my 47 years of life. This is the worst shape this course has been. I can honestly say this was the worst shape of any golf course I have ever golfed at. What a joke
Good place for your hacker golfer. Place is not in good shape. Needs alot of TLC.
John Bryne is everything youd want from municipal golf. Affordable, easygoing, and available. There are enough hazards on the course to make you think about shots before you take them. The course is relatively short and no par 5s are on the front 9, but the par 3s are extremely fun and challenging. Greens are well maintained for a Muni and offer some surprising challenge. The best 16 bucks in golf you can spend. The tee boxes need love for sure and the carts are a bit busted up but nobodys perfect.
I was just there in mid-march and they did zero maintenance. They put up the flags and that seems to be about it. My buddy plays it more often than I do and he says its okay. Im more spoiled on playing for 5 star courses so I was disappointed. Greens were okay but the fairways and tee boxes leave a lot to be desired.
The cost changes every time I play. I played last Thursday with a 11am tee time and was charged $25/pp for 9 holes. I called today and asked to play 9 holes on Friday at 8am and was told it was $48/pp. Forty Eight dollars per person to play 9 holes of golf on a public course? I was also told Friday morning is a “weekend”. Put your prices on the website and stop making things up as you go.
Horrible!! No parking
Good course. Golf carts are not a great but great staff and service
The cart paths are like lunar craters to drive over.. thought I was on a lunar rover... this could be a better course, rough lengths too long.. go 12 inches off of fairway = lost ball
Very nice course with very reasonable rates. Very crowded on the weekend
It was good had a great time everyone was nice
Place looks great
Great Place excellent course and staff
The tee boxes are all dirt and uneven making it impossible to find an smooth surface to tee off of. there arent even white and blue tee off markers. The bunkers are hard as a rock and a filled mostly with beer cans and sticks. the conditions of the greens are a disgrace. this course hasnt been updated or fixed up in years. i wouldnt pay more than $15 to pay on this course.
Very nice
I played this course for the first time on 9/28/13 and was very pleased with the course and its employees. The course is well maintained for a public course and in my eyes one of the (if not the best) Philly pub courses I have played. The par 4s & 5s have very long fairways that make you hit a great shot of the tee. The 89 yard par 3 on the back 9 is hilarious to look at but will help boost your score with its short distance and easy green. I had a great time playing this course and will return fairly soon to play it again.
It was a weekday early afternoon, I found myself in the area with about 2 hours to kill, I called first, then arrived 10 minutes after The service was great ! I believe a gentleman by the name of Matt helped me. I got a golf cart and requested to play 9 holes.. I thought the price was extremely Fair I paid $20. I played there 10 years ago and this was my first time back since. The grounds were nice, the fairways looks beautiful, the greens were well kept, it was just how I remembered it. I want to thank the management for responding to my earlier review which was only Stars ..I didnt have the time at that moment to give a full review. I would also like to change my stars to 5 stars after actually having time to think back about my visit it was excellent thanks again John F Byrnes and staff
I wasnt here to golf so I cant comment on John F. Byrne Golf Course. Well, actually thanks to all at the golf course who allow the children to go sledding. Its a great place and the kids love it. Thanks again!
Lovely course, nice time
Great place to get out and golf in peace. Great staff there. No complaints
Even if your not a golfer the fall foliage and rustic color of trees is impressive go see it .
Great staff, nice course conditions.
Was in beautiful condition. The staf was fantastic as always! Great local course
I play this course all the time for years and it is in the best shape that is been now the new manager is very nice to all, and they will help you any why needed to make your day a good day of golf. the course is in good shape. It is hard to keep couses in great shape in any city. You try check out any openly public course in any big city Phildelphia Burns course stacks up nicely so go ahead. Our courses are good....Signed golfer bowona
A really nice course for the price. It has some challenging layouts and a lot of par 3 holes. I really enjoyed my round here and will be back to play again.
John f byrnes is the worst golf course on the planet. Every single hole is completely straight. The bunkers are basically dirt. There is no grass on the t boxes. The price for this course is outrageous. They will pull the flags on you early. If you like the game of golf stay far away from this place and go to bensalem country club instead.
For $27 with a cart its definitely 4 out of 5 stars. In better shape than FDR and more fun because of a load of par 3s.
You have to give your credit card number just to get a tee time. Why? I dont give out that information to anybody. I went somewhere else.
I like going There, Im a hacker and my Score shows it haha all was has fun
Needs cart path repairs. Greens were in good shape.
Absolutely worst golf experience Ive ever had. Went as a twosome and by the back nine the owner pulled all the flags at 7:15 with over an hour of sunlight left because she wanted to finish her work early and leave. We couldnt even see where the greens were or where the hole was. Then at 8 she kicked us off the 18th tee and was extremely rude even though we wouldve finished in 2 minutes. Course itself was in horrible shape. Terrible layout and tee boxes were mostly sand. Cart paths were in dangerously bad shape and it was impossible to find the next tee because there are basically no signs. Miserable owner who doesnt care about her customers or the course. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!
The paths are rough and positioning of tee boxes could be better.but greens are good and fairways maintained well
Nice course with really good greens, price was very comfortable
Great price great staff course in great shape
Course in good condition but cartpaths were very uncomfortable to drive. Also, very hard to navigate beteeen holes. Signs should be easy to set up.
It was an ok golf course,,needs some work on its fairways and greens and some tee boxes.
Meh. The holes arent clearly marked, and they criss cross. Pace of play very slow.
Really short. Less than 5,000 yards w/ no par 5s on the front and 3 back-to-back-to-back par 3s on the back. Otherwise, good pace of play, good condition and fair challenge for the $ amount. Could use a few more hazards/bunkers.
Not much left in the immediate location of phila for public . Ashburn CC was semi-private for awhile before closing several years ago. Others have followed in closing since then, including Island Green. This translates into more play at Byrnes wbich is a short and congested course most of the time.
Golf course is in terrible shape. Terrible fairways, place sucks.
Course was in rough shape
In great shape, got to give head greens keeper kudos
It is a kept public course that never seems to be crowded. It is a good place to learn the game.
Nice place to take children sledding
We sledded. Didnt golf. :)
Its great for a quick around of golf
Its in decent shape
The tee boxes need work
Friendly people course was in great shape
RUFF
Will not return....
Nice city course
Greens are much improved
Decent public course
Suicide hill
Garbage
Ok for a city course.
No driving range. Doesnt appear to be frequented by many
