Lol, reading some of the comments. Yes it’s a small park on a quiet street devoted entirely to honoring a truly Great burr oak tree, dated by international arborists to 1499!!!!! (thus, “not much going on” unless you have the imagination to realize how AWESOME that is, from so many perspectives). It’s absolutely enormous —more like a grove of 20 trees all attached— but, as giant old trees do, somehow exudes gentleness and calm (as many other reviewers noticed). My 6-year old was plenty happy chatting with a local ginger cat who came out and greeted us, then retreated to its hedge at a safer distance... and then looking for interesting bugs and birds with me in the huge branches overhanging the iron fence. I’m so deeply grateful to the people that first decided to protect and honor this tree and all those who have carried the torch since then. Thank you so much!!!
Nice small park around a very old tree. If you want a little piece of history about the Peoria area, definitely recommend. There is a large grassy area in front of the tree that is a good photo opportunity. There are also a few picnic tables and benches for seating. Additionally, noticed some pseudo trails going into the brush but not sure what they lead to.
Great little park with a lot of history. A rolling grassy area. Picnic tables in the shade.
Its a very sexy park when in full bloom...I ️ it
Nice quiet/pretty place to have a picnic.
Quaint Park with a giant burr oak tree which reminds me of the Angel Oak tree.
Love the beauty of the great oak...most of the surrounding homes close to Great Oak are kept so nice....the area is so peaceful and calming....
Nice place. The tree is cool
A beautiful hidden gem on the West Bluff. The tree is gorgeous all year round and the park is a nice quiet place to stop on your walking tour of all the historic houses on High Street. Highly recommend a visit!
Its simply a (not so big) oak tree in a fenced lot with a sign.
As noted by other reviewers, this is a small setting. The tree is impressive, it is not a lengthy stop unless you really want to sit and contemplate life or walk the 1-2 blocks with huge Victorian mansions. Its worth 15-30 minutes on a nice day...
Its a beautiful ole tree.
History. Well preserved. Beautiful street.
This is a beautiful place to go ️
This tree has been here since before I was a child in the 70s. Very cozy and perfect place for picnics and solitude.
Quiet little park that has a huge bur oak tree that was planted in the 1490s
Mind blowing that this tree is from the 1400s
Well cared for park, best in Peoria; beautiful flowers and plants; nice quite place.
This is not a park in the usual sense, but an area set aside to honor and protect an ancient oak tree. Go see it before Peorias ghastly air quality kills it!
Big tree!
Just a nice place to enjoy the outdoors
Nice and calm place
It didnt have anything for kids to do
Live history!
Park?
Cool
Really awesome.
A hidden Peoria gem!
Beautiful
