The museum is currently closed to the public as of November 20th for Phase 2. Only holders of Department of Defense (DoD) identification and Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC) holders with either a service connected disability or who are a former POW or recipient of the Purple Heart or Medal of Honor and their guests are allowed to visit. It wouldve been an amazing experience to see but next time Im back in Pensacola, Ill visit when its open to the public. Though visiting the website was educational as well. Thank you, Navy, for taking precaution during this pandemic and limiting guests. And thank you to those currently serving, whose lives were loss, and veterans of the Armed Forces for all you do to defend our country.

Come to Florida every year and never miss visiting this museum. They have always added something new and they have places for little kids to play while the adults get to see the air craft and exhibits. Flight simulators and excellent IMAX films are wonderful and the guides are mostly volunteers, but so, extremely knowledgeable, (many are Veterans or Veteran There is also the Cubi Café which has some of the most reasonably priced meals in the area. When visiting the Pensacola area for more than 2 or 3 days, its a 98% chance, (Id guess), that it will rain. Entrance is free, but they have a donation box, and the IMAX and flight simulators have a fee, (but not that expensive). As I write this, the museum is temporarily closed, I was told because of Covid. Hoping it will reopen ASAP. Also, if you get there early enough, you can watch the Blue Angels practice from the stands, (check times for changes, but usually I believe it is about 11 am), if they are not away performing out of town. Even if they are, look skyward when you hear the jet engines and maybe you will luck out and get to watch pilots doing touch & goes.Do not forget to visit the light house when it reopens to the public, you can actually walk through a trail, but right now, I believe its only military personnel and guests allowed.

This was the best museum Ive been too! My husband and I loved every bit of it, they have so much to see. Tons of history. Kids got a little tired but they enjoyed it as well. The best part was seeing the Blue Angels practice, so AWESOME! Brought back memories of when I watched them at an airshow as a kid. 100% recommend!!!! Loved it!

A great museum if you love airplanes and helicopters. Most of the exhibits are aircraft. Self-guided tour took my family 3 hours. The museum has a gift shop and a restaurant and restrooms. We might come back in the future. We prefer the World War II Museum in New Orleans because of the variety.

We decided to take a half day and come down from Orange Beach to the museum and see the Blue Angels practice. It was awesome! The kids loved the interactive museum and of course the Blue Angels. Before the air show started there were volunteers around the seating areas that offered insightful facts and answered questions about the Blue Angels. Once the show started the jets were flying so close to you, you felt like you could reach out and touch them (well you know what I mean).Tips for going to the museum :1. If you are going on a day that the Blue Angels are practicing arrive before the museum opens otherwise you could be parking in the grass away from everything.2. If you want a good seat to watch the air show then head out 45 minutes to an hour. If you are bringing your own chair you can arrive when ever you want.3. Bring food and drinks with you if you do come early. You can bring a reasonable size soft cooler with you from the car to the air field. This is a stop you dont want to miss if you are visiting from out of town.

Arrived to the museum at 8:45, doors opened at 9. Spent an hour looking around then grabbed our chairs and went out to the flight line at 10. Sunscreen and water is a must, and they do have plenty of water for sale, along with souvenirs and snacks. Chair rentals are $3 if you dont have your own. The practice if first class, with great volunteers explaining most every move and direction in which the Angels will be coming in from.

We stopped in to visit the museum on a day that coincided with the Blue Angels practice. We timed it perfectly where we walked inside the spacious facilities containing the countless aircraft beforehand, giving us a couple of hours. For real history buffs, you could spend the entire day in the two buildings that house these magnificent machines of military might. It’s great for families and anyone that loves airplanes, history, and the good ol’ USA!

Fantastic museum on Naval Aviation history. The exhibits are easily walkable and their displays are highly informative. There are guided tours you can take with a docent at no charge, but we decided to explore on our own. When we went in the afternoon there was plenty of parking in a lot that is well loaded out and clearly markedAdmission is free, but they do ask for a small donation to fund their work.Lastly, if you are using a Google Maps to get you there from the east, it will direct you to the wrong gate of the N.A.S. Head for the west gate (there are billboards on the route that say this, and is why we ignored the directions after a while).

Absolutely stunning display of aerial acrobatics and power! If you want to get in and get a decent seat without getting stuck on the road outside the base, make sure you are here by 9:30 am!Also, as far as getting here be sure you take the West entrance as this is the only one you can get in as a civilian to come watch the Blue Angels! The pictures I have posted show traffic at the gate both ahead of and behind me when you show up at 10:45. Disastrous. When I showed up at 9:45, it was a totally different story.

Its FREE and you can make a donation to the museum. This was EXCELLENT! So many aircraft and displays. Tour guide was great. The outside trolley tour through the back where the old aircraft parked is good as well. Would be cool to step out of the trolley but you are not allowed. Got plenty of pictures. Very clean and you can get some great pictures from the second level. Saw my first ever Messerschmitt 262 and Japanese George. Nice restaurant facility. There are also films you can see for a fee in the theatre. I did not see any films as we drove from New Orleans and arrived at 10:30. Plan to spend the day and take in a guided tour.

Google maps takes you to a military employee only entrance. Then you must make a 20 minute detour to get to the right entrance. You must use the Blue Angel Highway entrance - unless you work for the military. Free admission & parking. Open 9-5 everyday. Plan on 4 hours (could very easily spend more). 4 tours daily (1 1/2 hours +- per) starting at 9:30, 11:00, 1, and 2:30PM. After the tour you can easily spend another 2 hours + wandering on your own. It is truly an Incredible museum. Outstanding displays & exhibits.

My family loves the museum. It is always a joy to walk around and see the history on display. If you go, take the opportunity to talk with the guides or veterans. They are there because of their love for their country and many have amazing stories to tell. Recently we spoke with a gentleman who was 95 and joined the service at 17. I love this place! I can’t believe it’s free to visit. I insist on going whenever I am visiting family in the area. My kids (elementary-aged) have a great time here as well. Plan on spending the entire day - there is SO MUCH to see. You will want to take your time for sure. When you arrive, head right to the information desk and make a reservation for the flight line tour (it’s free!!) which takes you in a bus that looks like a trolley out behind the museum for a close look at all kinds of amazing aircraft, including planes that are currently being restored. It’s incredible what they do here. The friendly volunteers at the info desk also have maps and can give you all kinds of tips to get the most out of your visit. All of the volunteer staff members are super helpful and many of them have fascinating personal stories involving the history of naval aviation. Take the time to go on one of the (free!) walking tours in the museum if you want to gain even more information than what you can read by each plane. The cafe is great, we happened to be visiting on pizza day and the kids and adults really enjoyed it. The servers in the cafe are super nice as well. Check the website ahead of time to make sure you know which way to enter NAS Pensacola, as well as all identification requirements. Make sure this place is on your to-do list if you will be anywhere near the area!

Clicking the website “Give us a call!” link will result in excessively repeating “we are closed until further notice due to coronavirus” which is no longer the case. Calling the number via google maps will give an option list, press 1 to contact the museum information desk. Pressing 1 will result in “please enter your party’s extension” to be repeated twice followed by “thanks for calling, goodbye” to end the call. It is on a functioning military base so be prepared to have your ID checked multiple times and to have your purse checked. There are two stories, and two buildings, and personally I thought the more interesting stuff was on the second floor of the main museum. Most of the first floor of the main building is made up of planes, which I dont have much knowledge about, but on the second floor there were a lot more wartime exhibits. This was so cool! We arrived late so we didnt get a spot up front. I would love to arrive early and get to see them take off and land and some of the low maneuvers but all the high ones were so cool. Definitely bring an umbrella and hats and sunscreen if you plan to get there earlier.

This was the coolest place. So much history I honestly didn’t know. There was something for everyone; it’s visual, auditory, tactile learning at its finest. If you’re lucky like we were, the Blue Angels were in town and we were allowed to experience their incredible flying show 1st hand. It was a great experience for the grand-parents, parents, kids and great grandkids.

One of our nations true gems. Something for everyone of all ages. ID checks in effect at both the gate and the entry to the museum. 2 Imax theaters, flight simulators, full scale aircraft from several eras in time. Restaurant on site. Got some Beef Jerky from the Flight Deck Store that was amazing! Free Admission into the museum. A must see while in Pensacola, FL.

The very best museum Ive ever been to. So much cool stuff to check out, simulators for the little kids and the big ones. Good food to be had at the little diner inside. Plus the Blue Angels practice right outside every Wednesday. Super cool visit!

Really neat aviation museum, located on the Air Force Base. Its a nonprofit, and admission is free. It allows children to get hands on with countless military aircraft. There is a small restaurant on site. Theres also a theater, as well as flight simulator. You also may happen to see the Blue Angels practicing above.
