I remember doing a Fun Run through the woods behind Sprinker, when I was a kid. I revisited this place as an adult and absolutely love jogging the trails. The tree line is tall and the canopy short so it doesnt get too cold and it doesnt get too hot. There are so many well worn paths that you hardly use the same path. This place is beautiful. Check it out!
Gorgeous big park with lots of nice trails. (The climbing facilities look like so much fun!!) I found a C.O.W. (chicken of the woods- a mushroom) the size of my head here the other day. :-)
Homeless living in the bushes. It smells like a honey bucket in certain places. Pretty disappointing.
Nice, well worn, short trail through a scenic evergreen forest. 1/4 of the trail skirts a creek. Mostly level with gentle rolling terrain. You might run into 1 to 2 groups of dog walkers every lap, but it was mostly uncrowded on a weekend morning. Great for a 1 to 5 mile run, more than that might take too many laps and get boring.
I adore this forest. Definitely top Tacoma area pick for me
Its rare finding woods, a creek through wooded trails, ball fields, and an area where kids and adults can rock climb and play all in one. Very clean park!
Awesome park I love it, great place to go on walks.
Great experience buying cars from Jerry Giec outstanding service highly recommend the dealership
The trails are well kept (with a few exceptions of litter). There are wider trails which are nice and lots of trees and some water.
Beautiful local hiking trail.
Amazing place to go escape the Rat Race otherwise known as life in South Sound! Do yourself a favor get off your cell phone get in your car and take a trip here an unwind. Works amazing for grounding ones self. Which can get pretty tough with all the distractions and responsibilities of modern life. Make sure to clean up after yourself as well as your fur baby .
Nice stroll with my toddler! She always has fun when we come here. I grew up walking this park and now she is. All the seasons bring something new on the trails. The stream is pretty and the trails are awesome for short walks with the kids. Gets all the energy out while explore nature right in town.
Been coming to the park since I was child. We used to feeds the duckies. There are turtles that live in the pond near the little water fall spot
Its a good place to hangout with friends and family
Beautiful place for a walk or run... Nice forest, lake and environment
There is some litter otherwise very nice
A natures hike in the middle of town
Very nice trail, however there is a lot of clothing and garbage throughout the trail, as well as branches covering parts of the trails. Overall nice place to take a walk.
Terrible. Someone was chainsawing trees down. There was no signage or tape up and on a sunday.
Really nice trails to walk through
Nice place for a morning walk. Just wish people would keep their dogs on leash.
Quiet, forest like trails well maintained
Very confusing. No trail markings. Forks about every 20 feet
Honestly it was ok there was trash on the trails and there was a homeless person sleeping behind the sign at the main road.now I get it but they dnt have to leave it looking really bad because they leave there trash and other stuff..
Beautiful and peaceful way to walk our sillies off
I thought it was a very pretty park, I enjoyed the trails.
A little space to get away from the city and get fresh air. Love it.
Oh dude, so cool.
Quiet and shady,a place to take the kids, where they can experience rock climbing and a stream that flows from Spanaway lake, take your pets out for a walk and get lost in the scenerys. The trails seem endless and theres always allot of parking and places to have a picnic.
Very nice forest park that lets you get away and relax.
Very surprised its in spanaway
Its a nice park, but could use a little more attention. Some of the paths are way overgrown and hard to get through. Some homeless people have set up their living areas right off the path so it detracts from the beauty of the forest. But it is a nice little escape right in the middle of a busy area.
I walked in these woods while being romanced by my now husband. It is a lovely short hike in and around the park.
One on the best parks in Pierce county. It really does have it all.
I went there today and other than a few kids listening to music and dancing it was a very quiet and enjoyable experience. I will be going back another time.
Very neat park. I wish I couldnt hear trafffic nearby
Great side trip to go for a walk after a shopping trip nearby. We got our lunch at one of the many fast food restaurants in the area, and brought it to eat in front of the climbing rock. Walked the perimeter of the forest, and didnt see any homeless encampments or vagrants, as others reported here.Near the creek, two small bridges will take you to a closer view of the little dam, with signs explaining about the fish by-pass route, and its history. Good main paths but watch your step--lots of roots to trip over.I wonder what those trail markers are with the numbers on them? I couldnt find any explanation. (not distance markers with numbers like 115, etc.)
Great place for trail rides on a mountain bike or just taking a nice hike in the woods.
They host fun events and have a cool climbing wall.
Pretty little spot, very peaceful
Great place to hang out or for our use couples photos. Parking is $3 if you park in the park.
Its beautiful and calming. But it is terrible that there are people in this community that would tarnish it with graffiti and litter.
Me and my wife had a date there wandering through the woods and it was amazing :) i recommend checking it out :p
My dog loves it here. The trails have a lot of options and the water is usually clean. However, not everyone picks up the dog poop and lots of dogs are off leash, so be aware of that.
Pretty scenery but its kinda scary cause there are some sketchy looking people walking around and chilling in there. Not a place i would take my kids anymore.
Beautiful place to go and see all should check it out
Used to live across the old Mill pond and over the last couple years the park has gotten progressively trashed. Wouldnt walk it alone these days
There is, of course, the climbing rock--a perennial favorite. But, we usually go for the trails, with or without our dogs. Theres a lot of trail choices, so its easy to spend some time in here. The views of the pond are lovely, as well as the spillway and creek coming off Spanaway Lake.Be aware, many people bring their dogs, not always on leash. Oh! And there are often bikers going through the trails. Those are usually marked when its a large group or being timed.
Decent hike without having to drive way out to the forest. Kind of sketchy though, a few homeless people hanging out back there. Garbage laying around
Nice place to get lost!!
Needs improvement on the trails, but still good for a walk.
Don’t really want to give this place 5 stars because the more people who come here the worse the trash and damage are. This forest is beautiful and peaceful. Please be responsible and respectful of others. Also don’t go here alone at night.
Nice day for a walk in the park. Some of the trails were closed for maintenance.
There are definitely its ups and downs. Saw a homeless woman shaving near the river and theres broken glass and trash all over the place, but its a pretty place for pictures.
Shady and dappled walking paths, not a lot of people about 1pm
Tons of walking trails! Good place to visit.
Love the trails here. I try to go once a month to walk them and relax.
So pretty and the kid loved the rock wall
Nice quiet place will definitely go again
Be careful walking there algae and alligators there.sept 2019.lived nearby for 43 years.
Little patch of woods with a small climbing rock. Nice for a short walk.
Its ok not recommended at night
Great place to walk your dogs on leashes they have miles of trails that lead down to a small creek river . nice pathways pretty clean for the most part. This place gets busy in the summer but theres plenty of good FREE parking.
Best Smoke spot.Best smoke spot to come and make hella memories with the bro’s. VPV V M
Great walk kids had fun!
Love this place, the perfect place to just find a quiet place and relax, or read, or it youre me, stack rocks all over the place
Can communicate with the nature spirits and its just 5 minutes from my urban apartment
Nice suburban hike for any nature enthusiast. I used to fish the little dam for trout when I was a kid. Walk south about a quarter mile after crossing the street from Spanaway Park entrance at Military Rd. Great for bird watchers too. Enjoy!
Its a great shady place for a nice walk on a hot day, bike trails, water streams awesome place for Family friendly day out.
Nice simple trails. Ok to bring a toddler.
Very pretty woods and nice pleasant trails
This place was awesome. It was clean and well maintained. I enjoyed myself as well as the little ones. At first they were a bit intimidated, but they soon came around. They played so hard that they fell asleep right away in the car. I will definitely be back
Very relaxing
The trails are biker friendly
Lots of trails in the woods just on the edge of town.
Its great unless you have to pay to park!! The trails across the street are nice especially in the middle of Spanaway.
Great trail running and rock climbing
A beautiful park with a network of trails big enough for near-endless variety and a nice little stream running through it. Thoroughly recommended, but consider picking up a few pieces of litter. Thanks to the efforts of those who truly love this park, its beauty has been maintained quite well. Please respect our efforts.
Nice scenic areas with a lake and lots of forest, but kind of close to major thoroughfares so you never feel very far from civilization.
Play ground is small. Has a skate park, have to check in through the building to get into it tho. 2 Rock climbing walls, they are always covered in some pretty profain graffiti last time we went there were swastikas everywhere. The trails are nice and maintained take my kids on them often.
Do NOT visit this park. My wife and small dog were attacked by 4 off leash pit bulls, wife got 47 stitches, dog was equally mauled. And dont expect any action from the local authorities, it seems they relish this, good way for them to make $2k in fines that this guy will never pay, we get stuck with $8k in hospital and vet bills. This area is unsafe for people and pets. Youre safer letting your dog run in traffic.
I literally grew up behind this place, as did both of my parents. This is a great place to go for a walk and enjoy trails but be careful. There have been alot of people doing drugs back there, but that is everywhere around here now.Plenty of parking and lots of wooded trails to walk with some bridges, a little man made dam, and Spire Rock is just a few of the features it offers. Bathrooms can be accessed to the east of Bresemann at Sprinker Rec. Center.Overall great place but be wary of enjoying it alone.
All the accoutrements of a giant forest in miniature. Get lost in nature & never want to leave.
I enjoy just going for a walk sometimes, it clears the mind, and grounds the body.
I loved the trails and the picnic/ play ground area for the kids. The bathrooms even had warm water to wash your hands.
Been going here for years for jogging and spending time with the family. The trails are simple and serene. Sound of traffic is a bit high when closer to the road. Unfortunately we ran into A LOT of homeless people sleeping/camping/hiding out in the wooded area. Definitely need to reel in the homeless people living there. If I were a woman, I would be uncomfortable going there alone without some sort of personal protection because of the homeless people that literally pop up behind a log or bush. Just my opinion though. Great place, disappointed by the unexpected rise in the amount of homeless/vagabonds living and sleeping there.
Except for the homeless drunk it was a great hike
Love this walk!
Nice place to get away
Come at your own risk. It clearly states at the entrance this is not an off-leash park. No one obeys leash laws here. If you dont mind getting snarled at, dogs charging at you or your kids, or attacking your own dogs come on over.
Its so nice
Quiet and beautiful, despite seeing a diaper...(?) bagged up dog poo left behind, and empty cups here and there. Smh how ppl cant bring out the trash they carry in.
Not that busy when you go in the mornings, usually pretty clean, most people keep their dogs in leashes. Its a great place for walking dogs.
