This is the spot to be if you are renting a pontoon boat. It takes about half an hour to get there. The channel is busy with fishing boat charters and jet skis. Large boats move through the area and can swamp you if not careful. Beach is always near empty and the sand feels so untouched. One of the best places to find hermit crabs and sand dollars. My sister found a seahorse while swimming here.

This place is beautiful and so much wildlife the sand is very white and does not get hot. There are a lot of dolphins in shell island. I do it with my kids they loved it.

Beautiful place we always rent a pontoon boat and take the kids to. Last one we found a star fish. Never a disappointment with the beautiful beach

It didnt live up to its name. We didnt find any more shells here than at PCB. Its beautiful, but not that different from St. Andrews or PCB. It wasnt worth the cost of a pontoon rental or shuttle.

Had a great time with my family. We snorkeled for hours. This is a good place to go and just relax. Loved it and will do it next year. Adventures at sea is a wonderful place to rent a boat.

Great relaxing beach but the gulf side smelled like fish and trash and beer cans/bottles everywhere. No good shells as they were all destroyed. We spent most our time on the other side in calm waters.

This is probably one of only a couple 5 star ratings I have ever gave. Of all the places I have been so far in PCB, Shell Island (on the gulf side is a slice of paradise

This place is like Paradise!!! A must see when visiting Panama City! It requires a shuttle, boat or Pontoon to get there, but it is worth the trip. If you could anchor the boat or Pontoon and walk around on the Ocean beach side, you will be in for a treat! Absolutely will be returning there!

We are locals to Santa Rosa Beach, and decided to try something new besides Crab Island. This place is nice if you want to get away from all the tourists stuff. The draw backs are no restrooms close by nor restaurants. So make sure you pack all you need. Food, drinks, toilet paper and the essentials. Great place to get away from it all

This place is my spiritual home. You can find a nice little inlet or piece of shoreline to call your own or join the bigger crowd over by the walk-over to the gulf.

I would recommend if you have a large family and know how to handle a boat. Rent a boat and tour the island at your own pace. The shuttle trip is WAY over priced when for a family of 3 or more you can rent a boat and do it yourself.

Shell Island is a great place to spend the day with friends and family. Its quick and easy to get to by any size watercraft and provides the option of relaxing Bay or Gulfside.

Ive been coming here as a kid and it has always been an untouched place that is peaceful especially if you spend the night on a boat. This place is perfect to visit if youre looking to relax or you can dock by the Bama pier if you feeling like joining the party!

My favorite place to go other than St. Andrews State park. Untouched white beaches, jetties and beautiful water. Theres so many different parts to this island and I almost always see starfish, sandollars and marine life.

Lovely barrier island, only accessible by boat.

Its quiet and empty. If youre looking for a place that isnt crowded to just enjoy the beach, this is it.
