I might be biased - born at CHOMP on the hill and I have been coming to these tide-pools all of my life. I think they are the best places for exploring and enjoying the ocean anywhere. From the rock, crabs, otters, birds and waves crashing this is the place to come and enjoy the ocean. Bring good shoes and layers of clothes. Watch the tide - if its coming in then be careful and not get too far out and watch for rough waves.
This is a really cool place. Right now, there is a lot of ash everywhere because of the fires. We still saw a bunch of hermit crabs, a few regular crabs, some sea anemones, etc. We checked the tide charts online to go at low tide. There were quite a few cars parked there, but the beach area is big enough that it seemed like we had the place mostly to ourselves. It was fun walking all over the rocks. There were a lot more people on the sandy parts of the beach, but we avoided those areas.
Our favorite beach in the Monterey Bay. Has very flat beaches for easy play with young children, and lots of gorgeous craggy rocks jutting out of the water with little tide pools full of hermit crabs.Loads of parking all along the road.No public bathrooms, be prepared to cross the street to the community center if you need one. Plan accordingly!
It was nice, except for when we first got there. A police office told us we couldnt even sit down or have towels with us? Im a tax payer, and my civil rights give me the full right to enjoy a beach that is paid for and taken care of with my tax dollars. These so called laws that Gov. Newsome has put in place are infringing soon our civil rights as a free citizen. If i want to sit on a beach, I can and I will!
Beautiful beach. Sand is very soft. Almost no trash. Waves were not too strong which is perfect for my young kids. They also have some tide pools. We found plenty of hermit crabs. My kids had a blast. Highly recommended! We parked on the street.
Beautiful miles long beach front state park. Rocky shores interspersed with beautiful beaches. Smooth water covers, tidal pools. Bordered By Pacific Grove and Pebble Beach..What more could you want?
Such a beautiful beach! Im a local so Ive been to plenty of beaches in Monterey. This beach is known as the dog beach so it does have sand fleas but theyre easily ignored. Sand and water are very nice, its so peaceful there!!
Great pebble beaches with lots of treasures and beautiful views. I saw tons of wildlife; crabs, hermit crabs, anemones, tiny fishes, star fishes, squirrels, pelicans, and several types of birds. Tons of tiny tide pools among the rocks and boulders.
I love beach combing here. Near the tide pools areas are tons of shells and tiny bits of sea glass. Its a great place to observe tide pools life, seals, otters and vultures. Also seems like a popular surfing area.
Asilomar is like a reflection of a part of heaven on earth. You need to taste it.
Spectacular views!!Im talking - 800 credit score sexy! Long walks/bike-rides along shore are A MUST,. Youre welcome in advanced! ;)
Best beach for families in Monterey! Usually busy but not so much that your cant carve out a little sanctuary for yourself. The surrounding tide pools are fantastic. My kids, 6 and 8, didnt want to leave!!
An absolutely great beach for everyone! Its an excellent place to enjoy the sounds and sights of the ocean, walk your dog, take a stroll, sunbath, and most importantly for us a great place to take the kids! We had so much fun during low tide checking out the diversity of life in the tide pools. The course sand is easy on the feet and great to walk on. A magical spot!
So love Asilomar. Outstanding scenery. Tide pools. Seals. Birds. Lovely walking paths along the water or bike along the road. Visit the Asilomar Conference Center....Lodge and cafe, plus walk along the protected path. This beach area is a place Ill keep coming back to.
Wonderful beach, white sand... great place to watch the sunset
Beautiful beach. Great for surfing or playing. Big enough to be virus safe
Such a beautiful and gorgeous beach and met super cool bird that we named Greg (Seagull Greg).
Gorgeous beach with beautiful tidepools to enjoy watching the little crabs scuttling around and baby fish swimming amongst the kelp. Not too crowded, soft sand...definitely coming back!!
You can find sea life hidden inside the rocks. Can be very windy. Perfect for sunsets.
Very nice romantic beautiful setting they also have walk pathways so you can stroll down there and enjoy the beach and have your own little party with your family pretty private
Pretty beach; not bad for sunsets and full moons; people spaced well and followed mask regulations
Gorgeous. Timeless. Surprising. Breathtaking. Unforgettable.
One of my top favorite beaches from our trip! Went in July, and it was windy and cold, but a beautiful place to visit. Nice diversity with rocks and sand.
Great place to scamper around on the rocks to see hermit crabs, sea anemones & more in the numerous tide pools.
Nice trails and beautiful beach. A must see if your a tourist in this city. Great spots to spend with your family along the trails. Its like alot of little mini beaches
If you love the ocean and that long stretch of coastal walk right by the water, be sure to check this out. Typically you’ll find the first morning part with some fog and a bit of overcast. By midday, you’ll find the sky can be so blue and the water visibility is amazingly. The waves on this long stretch of the beach can be very calm, safe for family with little ones. I love everything about this state beach. The only thing I wish they would consider is having a public restroom.
Beautiful beach with fine white sand and great waves. Park closer to the golf course thats where the beach is.
Beautiful beach with easy access. Fine grained sands. Tide pools too.
Awesome sunset and full moon.
Nice walking path, several benches to sit and watch the sunset or rise. Or fat seals sun bathing. Nice place to take pictures.
Phenomenal beach, awesome sunsets, beautiful dunes with a boardwalk, white sand, peaceful, clean and serene. Great people watching. Good for family fun or a romantic picnic. The sound of the surf crashing on the rocks is very lulling and magical. Parking can be a bit of a chore, so have patience, it is worth it. Enjoy!
One of my favorite beach areas in the Monterey region, for lively and interesting photographs!
No sea lions or otters. Just a beach and scenic sites. No restrooms.
Fantastic views. Could say they are unique because I dont think there is another place in the Continental US that has a road carved into the mountainside that is maybe 1000 ft above the water and 1000 ft below the mountain summit.
We go every day its clean and if you go early not to many people. Some days there is a life guard on duty. Its so much fun and easy access. Great for surfing and kids playing in the water. And building sand castles.
Wonderfully Scenic beach near Monterey, one of the best beaches. Big waves here, great for surfing or just taking a stroll or walking your dog. Theres not really a parking lot here, but theres plenty of room to pick a spot along the highway and just park. If you come at dusk the sunset here is particularly beautiful.
Beautiful beach with long walkway. A dog friendly portion of the beach. My favorite Pacific Grove beach.
Beautiful place to visit. Great tide pools ️
The epitome of central coast natural beauty. Keep this beach beautiful and clean if you visit please! I go all the time! Good surf, epic sunsets, and great views.
WARNING: potentially “BIASED” opinion here...Asilomar State Beach is one of my very favorite spots in Pacific Grove!! So much so that my husband and I chose this as the location for our wedding held on 4/27/2019! It was a gorgeous day and I love this beach because it’s never PACKED with people so while we had a few extra spectators at our wedding, it didn’t feel intrusive.
Beautiful and relaxing. Sand was so soft on your feet. Scenery beautiful & clean.
Amazing sunsets!! Great paths, easy parking and beautiful spots to take every kind of photo.
Such a beautiful place to visit! I would definitley recommend visiting if youre in the area. Amazing views, great beach, tide pools, and a nice walk through the dunes.
Beautiful location with incredible views.
Been going there all my life, and its always great to go back.
Beautiful quaint beach, dogs allowed. My dogs loved it. White sand, and a great view of pebble beach
Very beautiful beach and path in the nature. The colors of the sea are amazing
Such a beautiful Serene Beach. The crowds are very minimal I love that I can relax and enjoy a peaceful day with the sound of the ocean the birds and the gorgeous views of the rocky coastline. My fave spot to watch the sunset! Youre going to have to look for a spot on the beach without all the seaweed but once you find one its really worth it. Theres a gorgeous Trail leading in and out of the Beach area. I like walking the trail from the speech all the way up to Lovers point its a beautiful walk with a lot of great scenery and its never over crowded.
Beautiful spot for sunset.
While other beaches where closed this one stayed open, also had a lifeguard on duty which was nice enough to show the children a cute crab .
Great beach for a nice short walk. There’s is a direct path from the Asilomar camp grounds that makes the beach accessible by foot from the local area. The beach tends to be too narrow for big runs or long dog walks. In the many tide pools here you will find mussels, small crabs, snails, and much more. Worth the visit if you are in the area.
Awesome sunsets! Nice to walk along.
Amazing turquoise water and white sands best beach in Monterey
It was very clean. There were plenty of handicapped parking spots along the way. I was able to use my walker and go for a walk
I fell in love. Its the most beautiful Beach Ive seen so far. There is a walking trail along the beach and parking is allowed off of the pavement on the street. There are a lot of big rocks, so this beach is more for dipping your feet in the water vs swimming in the water.
Tidepools surfers and was practically empty in the 8am-noon time frame! Perfect for kids and families! Also shopping and food near by!
My first time putting my feet in the Pacific Ocean. Beautiful, peaceful place. Water is freezing and apparently June is cool temperatures and overcast. This was great for me but may not be for everyone.
A beautiful sight, with no vivid 19 to be seen if you look at the scenery.
Everyone stayed there 6 feet way from each other. Had a great time just sitting and talking watch the wave. So relaxing
Gorgeous beach without trash. Parking is off the road along the fence. The marine layer burns off around 11/12pm and then its sunny and warmer. I loved my time here! Its perfect for kids, but they probably need some swim shoes because of the rocks, and the rocks Re also a bit slippery. Enjoy! Also, there are trash cans in case you bring food.
What a great place. Plenty of free parking along the road on the beach side. Great trails, dog and family friendly leading to gorgeous white sand beaches and rocky tide pools. Gorgeous Lighthouse near the end. Loved the boardwalks and benches for rest breaks and enjoying the scenery.
Perfect place to spend a typical foggy summer day in Pacific Grove. A beachside boardwalk trail and bonfires allowed on the way way north side of the beach.
Truly my home. The best tide pools in California!!!
Beautiful! My peace and calm. If I could move here I would.
I love this place for walk around, and the place is very quiet, and beautiful views.
So many different beaches to visit. During the week its easy to find an empty area to enjoy while social distancing.
LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BEAUTIFUL OCEAN N BEACH
Great place to visit to hike or hang out. Very friendly park guides who offer free tours of the dunes and grounds. Dogs need to be leashed and stay on the paths. Good parking and beach access. There is a nice new boardwalk on the beach.
Excellent for kids and adults. Clean beach and fun tide pools.
Ive traveled the world and there are places that are equal, but none better. Great surf at a rocky coast with an excellent trail with boardwalks. And mountains all around!
Great, very nice. No parking but great get away. Water is gorgeous
One of my favorite places in the world. No matter where you travel, there is no place like home.
Such a beautiful white sand beach with decent surf and spectacular views.
Very beautiful beach to linger at while the sun sets as time passes by.@[email protected]
A perfect beach. Not to crowded, nice sand and damn pretty.
The beach trail is delightful. The same type coast line as found in the 17 mile drive, in fact they adjoin each other. Leisurely walk, no fee.
Great! It was so cool and since I myself love climbing i loved the rocks but i will say go during low tide cause that is the most fun.
Great place to relax and enjoying the views!!
This is my home away from home. I love this place. I am grateful to be able to come here and see the water.
You cant beat the beauty of the ocean and tide pools. Great walking trails and beautiful weather topped off the day!
Nice beach area. Good for kids. Weather is great!
Asilomar is one of the Central Coasts gems. Fine white sand, beautiful water with sand bars and tidal pools. Usually a great place to surf as well.
Beautiful beach. Mix of sandy and fine grain rock beach spots as well as large rocky areas with tide pools.
Sunset are the best you can catch...
Nice beach. Love the weather
Beautiful beach atmosphere. Walk on the beach, watch the waves and feel the beauty of magnificent nature. Loved our time here. Took a lot of pictures and videos. This place is very near to the 17 miles drive so don’t forgot to take that scenic drive if you haven’t already. Also see the nearby beautiful places too which could be off the beaten path but really worth the visit. Thanks !
Beautiful area. Calming as you slowly wander on the rocks close to the waves. The sky was a glorious blue, the ocean matching its depths. The white of the crashing waves, a soothing sound to anxious soul. A place to relax and admire. One of my favorite places on Earth.
You have to visit here at least once in your life. Probably the nicest beach on the whole West Coast, and certainly very accessible.
One of my favorite beaches. The water is very clear, but also turquoise when it crashes against the rocks, topped off with bright, white foam. So amazingly beautiful
