Ive been a lifeguard and an instructor in aquatics for a couple months now. This place is awesome! Friendly coworkers adds a lot too.Originally I was hired as the head coach for swim team, but when COVID hit, they still offered me the lifeguard and WSI positions!Thank you guys!
The J is amazing. My family has been members for over a year now. The Child Development Center (CDC) is top notch. The teachers and staff at the CDC are so wonderful with the children. I am amazed at what my child has learned and how engaged the teachers keep the kids. In addition to learning the traditional early education tools, the extracurricular activities such as swimming and gym class are fantastic. I would and have recommended the Js CDC program to anyone with young kids.
I can’t say enough about how wonderful our experience has been here. A loving, caring and welcoming environment for all. My girls have loved everything about their time here and they have learned so much. The teachers are fantastic and all the staff is so friendly, they have really made us all feel at home.
We love the CDC my son has excelled in areas since he started two years ago!!! He will go to kindergarten in the fall and has had awesome teachers in every class he has been in. We couldnt ask for a better program to prepare him and us for the transition to elementary school. The J is our home away from home!
My family loves everything The J has to offer! The CDC prek is amazing. My son has been going since he was 1 yr old and the teachers and curriculum are wonderful. He also gets to do activities during the day like swim lessons, sports, and messy art which he enjoys and it is helpful as a working mom to get those all in during the school day! We also love using the Fitness center and I attend group exercise classes at least 3 times a week. Such a great variety from yoga to weights and HIIT training. Pool and facilities on site are great. It truly is like a one-stop-shop with activities for people of all ages!
Our family has been a part of the Child Development Center at the J for over a year now. We love hearing about our boys days - what they have learned and the fun theyve had with their friends! The swimming lessons and extra activities are amazing, too!
I’ve had children at the CDC for the past 4.5 years. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the program, staff, and opportunities that our family has experienced there. I would recommend the CDC to anyone looking for a comprehensive, well-rounded, and loving preschool environment.
Love the CDC at the JCC. Have been taking my child since he turned 1 and have had nothing but a positive experience. I strongly recommend to everyone looking for quality childcare!
Our experience at the J has been for pre-school, summer camp and fitness facilities. The J provides a wonderful community. Its such a welcoming place. The staff knows every kid who goes there. Weve made wonderful friends. Its so inclusive. The kids love their teachers and classrooms. The education is phenomenal. And they offer soooooo many extracurriculars from sports to swim lessons to cooking to dance, etc. The great part is the kids get to do these things as part of their days so parents dont have to shuttle them around after school. Cant recommend the school and camp highly enough. The fitness facilities are good! Nothing mind-blowing but a great mix of cardio machines, weight machines and free weights. Locker room is nice. Good sauna. Variety of classes offered like yoga, cross fit and spinning. Teachers are a bit hit or miss but Ive found plenty I like. The basketball courts are great, as are the pools--indoor and outdoor. Outdoor pool is phenomenal for family hangs with snack bar, kiddie pool, kid and big kid/adult water slides, lap pool. Our family has loved being part of the J community.
Working out with a mask. Worst workout experience ever
Without a question the best learning center for kids by far! The teachers are kind, respectful knowledgeable.
A beautiful place, amazing teachers, wonderful leadership, a caring and welcoming community surrounding it all.
My family loves the CDC at The J. All of the teachers and staff there are amazing.
Open the kiidie pool already. My family has been a member of the J since it was in the old building at Indian creek 30 years ago. Its been a great experience being a member here until recently. The kiddie section of the outdoor pool is still closed and its the middle of June. The excuse is its too cold to open it. I pay for a membership for these things to be open after Memorial Day like all other pools in the area. Kids will get out if its too cold they(we) dont need to be nannied by a bunch of pseudo Michael Bloombergs telling us what they think is good for us. Bottom line is that we pay for it to be open. We are capable of using our own judgement.
Very lovely place
We enrolled both of our kids in their summer camp program. I am so happy we did! The teachers/staff are amazing! My son has excelled with socialization far beyond what he ever did in a public school. The teachers worked with him and hes just completely turned around with his willingness to help and share with other children. I really really appreciate the time, effort and professionalism they have provided both of my kids. They are truly excited to come there each day and sad we have to put him back in public preschool after the summer is over!Thank you for everything you have done-- we WILL be back there next summer for sure. The swimming lessons each day for my daughter were a great thing for her! She is much more confident and has all the positive reinforcement she needed.
My family and I have used the facilities of the Jewish Community Center for more than 20 years. The Fitness Center has always kept up with the latest fitness technology. The list of programs offered are amazing. The staff is probably the most helpful Ive ever encountered.Ive used personal trainers, massage therapists, swimming lessons, day care, tennis leagues, racquetball leagues, etc,No one cares if you have the latest Yoga fashion clothes. And, I should not have to say this in 2013, but Im not Jewish. No one ever asked so I assume they dont care. Im always welcomed.
Love the J! My family chose this gym because it fit our number one need... a fantastic kids program. I have an 18 month of with spina bifida and am always worried about who is watching him. Everyone of the employees at the daycare know Roman and know about him. That is super comforting to me. I also have a 3 year old little girl and 6 year old boy that always beg to go to the J. The work out facilities are always clean and there is RARELY a wait on equipment. Its also nice to always have a place to take a shower (with soap and towels), so I can go straight back to work. I refer everyone to them!
Played duplicate bridge here. Good facility and friendly people.
I have been a member of the JCC of several years. I use the facility to workout, for child care, camps, and birthday parties. I cannot say enough positive things about the staff at the J. From fitness instructors to the staff employed in both The Park and The Zone they have all exceeded my expectations. My older two boys participate in the summer camps as well as basketball camps in the winter and always tell me they had an A+ day. In addition, they have had their birthday parties at the Center for the last 4 years and each party has been custom tailored to my boys interest and our budget. The staff is always friendly, professional, and accommodating. This is truly a one of a kind place and I am so glad we are members.
Seems great at first glance, but if you send your child there, odds are they won’t receive appropriate care. Most of the teachers went to a community college (where you can’t get a full teachers license) and they will baby your kids to the max. I used to be employed there but ended up leaving due to lack of education in the staff. Some of the kids have special needs, but sadly, they’re not properly taken care of in regards to their IEP goals. The staff is rude and ostracizes new, younger workers and special needs children. Very unorganized too.
I am a quite satisfied JCC member. Compared to other gyms, they have the standard equipment, generally always available, with tons of free workout classes including many Les Mils and spinning– a huge plus. Theyre outdoor pool is large and offers a childrens zero depth area, and they offer a variety of other services from day camp to performances in the fairly new theater.
Beware! Membership in the school requires a mandatory gym membership tied to your enrollment in the school. When you stop attending the school, your mandatory gym membership magically is not tied to your membership any more; rather they enforce the maximum term of the gym membership even if you never attend the gym. Even if you move away, they will enforce the expensive membership to the maximum. Despite pleas appealing to their ethical side being a religious organization, their primary objective is profit. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. My attorney is drafting a letter as we speak. They dont care about you or your children, rather its all about their bottom line.
Joined the JCC about 2 months ago and love it. Fitness facility has lots of cardiovascular and strength training and the walking track is perfect.
Such good value for a family. Indoor and out door pool+ child care girls are great with my son.
My boyfriend surprised me for Christmas with a gym membership. We have been going ever since! I highly recommend it! We love it!
This is a wonderful facility. The instructors and all of the support staff are great. This is a great place for encouragement and fabulous people. Work outs are really fun.
Great staff, great people, and most of all so many things like a basketball court, mini gym, and pools.
Great place - staff is nice - machines are great and everything is kept in great condition. They could have longer hours but it is such a great place we dont even mind that.
Friendly staff, summer camps are phenomenal and the members are lovely people. Very family feel!
Most friendly people. A real K.C. Tradition.
Very friendly people and great place to see a play!
Great experience at the Day of Discovery event today!
Ok
The JCC is the reason I moved to Overland Park!
