Van Witt Fine Art has worked on a number of objects for me and I couldnt be happier!I have several different antique art pieces (paintings and prints) in my personal collection which were in need of repair and I was connected to Peggy through a search of the American Institute for Conservations expert directory. We arranged an appointment for her to review the objects with me where she evaluated the construction and condition of each piece and generated a treatment proposal. She was extremely attentive to understanding the object and understanding my goal. She and her team kept in close contact with me during the process and even shared an update photo to keep me informed. When I picked up my art, I was absolutely stunned by the transformation! They far and away exceeded my expectations. After that experience, I have brought a number of pieces to them to be conserved and every time I walk away impressed. Peggy and her team brilliantly intertwine the science of caring for aging materials with an artistic eye to how they should appear.Overall, they are professional, timely, courteous, and true joy to work with. I would recommend Van Witt to anyone with art which needs repaired, conserved, or restored.
Peggy and her team have restored two or our paintings. Their transformation from dark and colorless to vibrant and lively was stunning. Peggys quite enthusiasm for her vocation and concern for her customers art were apparent when she inspected our paintings and clearly explained the restoration process. Van Witt Fine Art Conservation is a 5-star-plus asset to the Kansas City metro area.
I am very pleased with the work that Van Witt Fine Art Conservation did on my painting. The entire painting is much brighter and the flowers really seem to stand out now. Thank you so much for your professionalism and care in working with a family treasure.
I received as a gift a paper book from 1943. It meant a lot to me and it was in bad shape. I asked Peggy van Witt to give me an estimate. It was a sizeable chunk of money, but the book contained memories and lots of emotion for me. She restored it by removing cellophane tape applied years ago, washing the pages, regluing pages that were torn, creating a new cover and repainting portions of the book that were lost to time. The only thing she couldnt do was recreate chunks of paper which were ripped out of the book. But she made the book useable again, made it something I could enjoy and give to my child and grandchild. Conservation of such documents is not an inexpensive process. But if something is valuable to you, and can be made (nearly) whole, then it is money well spent.
Van Witt Fine Art Conservation has conserved several paintings for me over the years. Peggys expertise is amazing. Her charges are reasonable and she always completes the work in a timely manner. Highly recommend.
This is a neat shop! I have had a wonderful experience with Peggy and her staff, they are knowledgeable and professional and I trust their work.
Several years ago, I purchased a house built in 1898 that came with architectural blueprints from 1897. They were not in great condition and with no experiences in art restoration, I needed someone who would guide me. After searching online for art restorators, I found Peggys studio in Overland Park. From our first conversation, Peggy answered all my questions, explained the process for restoring and preserving the blueprints, and was upfront about every detail. Peggy not only has an eye for restoring art, she knows how to treat customers. I loved the personal attention Peggy provided. Shes truly a jem in the art world and the midwest!
They fixed a painting that had a hole in the middle of the canvas for me. It was beautifully done and looks perfect. you cant even tell it was broken in the first place. highly recommend.
Preserving our mother’s art work became critically important to my brother and I when we prepared her estate for sale. She is a highly accomplished artist in her life having worked for Hallmark Cards and being a graduate of the Kansas City Art Insitue. She painted six large (48 inches by 28 inches) murals on the walls in her dining room. We knew we had to remove them from the house knowing there was more than a chance that some one would one day paint over them.We contacted Peggy Vanwitt for guidance in removing them and the potential for preserving the murals. We lucked out with Peggy! Not only was she able to guide us in removing the canvases, but we shipped them to her for cleaning and preservation. The art was not only preserved, but greatly enhanced by her expertise. The murals were cleaned, preserved and mounted for display. We loaned the art to Ozark Medical Center in West Plains, Mo. where they are displayed in the main lobby to be enjoyed by the community for years to come. None of this would have been possible if it were not for Peggy’s customer service and skill in the field of art preservation. Our deepest thanks to Peggy for helping us preserve treasured art created by our mother.Pat and Christine Freeman
Hi. Peggy Van Witt has done conservation work on 30 or more works of fine art in my private family collection over a 10 year period. All work on every piece has been superb and beyond expectation. I want to highly recommend Peggy Van Witt for any conservation work of your fine art. In my opinion there is little argument that Van Witt Conservation is one of the best Fine Art Conservators in the Mid-West.RegardsScott WilderArt Collector and Researcher
We made contact with Peggy Van Witt shop about a broken vase. Peggy responded back within minutes with an appointment for us to drop off the vase. We were two hour earlier for our appointment on a Saturday and she meet us without making us wait. She was very courtesy and kind the whole process of describing how the repair would take place. Even showed us around her shop and others repairs she was doing. We got our vase back in a timely manner and would use her shop again.
Five Stars are not enough. My painting was not valuable except to me, and it had been neglected (and abused) for almost half a century. Van Witt Fine Art Conservation not only breathed life back into a personal treasure I thought was lost forever, they went above and beyond what was needed to make it a spectacular addition to my home. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
I had a headless wise king and they were wonderful. It looks fantastic, I cant tell that the head has been repaired and they did it so quickly! I was very impressed and appreciative! Im back to 3 kings in my large and beautiful nativity.Thank you!
No Job is too big or too small for Van Witt fine art. I would refer them to anyone they are true professionals!
I came to this company with an old (over 150 years) family portrait on the recommendation of two local framers and a major local art museum in the area. The painting had been dearly loved but badly neglected over the years, with cracking paint, layers of dirt and smoke stains, and a crumbling frame. Peggy was meticulous in her attention to detail, and she restored the work to radiant perfection. She kept within the original estimate, although I am sure that the painting and frame required more time and materials than she had anticipated, due to the deterioration of some of the underlying canvas. I would highly recommend her on the basis of her skills as well as her integrity. I would have no reservations about referring even the most demanding collectors to her.
Peggy restored my painting, Pantheon de la Guerre from the Liberty Memorial. Very happy!
A very professional and extremely quick service. We were extremely pleased with the restoration and cleaning of our paintings.
