It has been quite some time since I went to a library. And coming here made me wish I had. This library send to be leagues above the ones inside Kansas City Missouri. My only wish Id that it was closer to where I live so that if have a reason to visit it and try out its resources. It has multiple private rooms for whatever your need, ample amounts of tables and computers. I did not guy tour this location, but it appeared to have a childrens location inside as well
Nice facility. Felt comfortable with their safety precautions. When everything opens, there will be many perks.
Excellent library, they have an amazing selection of resources. If one library location doesnt have what you are looking for, they will transfer it to the library of your choice (mine is the central resource library). The central resource library offers free WiFi and has a large amount of computers to use. Many study rooms are available for use as well as a large community room. Kids and teen sections have a huge variety of books to choose from and the library even has a bookstore for purchasing used books, CDs, etc. They also have a Makers Space which is worth exploring!
Great place with very helpful staff. Online apps. help to reserve books, movies, music etc in advance for quicker pickup.
Great place to go study, there is a lot of space and many options on where you want to study (rooms, open space with tables etc). Large library and very friendly librarians who are willing to help you find what you need or answer any questions you may have. No complaints so far, hope to keep it that way.
While it is a nice facility, if you are here to actually focus on anything at all be sure you reserve a room!! The amount of noise at this library makes it feel like a playground rather than a place to focus on work. I had to leave in the middle of studying for a huge exam because, while I understand children are children, there is absolutely no control over the screaming and crying and running! It is a playground of a library and very difficult to focus!!
Lots of books and other such. Great staff.
Good very good place to go two
This is the library I dreamed of as a girl in a small town. It has everything and the staff are wonderful.
Based on selection this place would get 5* easily. Unfortunately due to a staff member it get 1 from me. The older man at the main desk ruined this library for me. While looking at the video game cart with another patron, he was more than willing to let the other patron leave with multiple video games in hand and not checked out, meanwhile I wasnt allowed to walk 15 feet to get my kids so we could check out. I was clearly going to steal them in front of everyone... I will just go to the indian creek library from now on, they atleast trust thier patrons.
I, like many of you, have been to many libraries throughout the years. Ive been to multiple school, public, and private libraries. Ive been coming to this library for years, and it stands out among the others. The amount of books available to borrow is large and if they dont have it, its easy to have it sent over for you to pick up with only a day or two wait. I cant remember a time when I went here and it wasnt clean or people werent bring courteous to those around them. If you live in Johnson County and havent visited the Resource Library yet, you really are missing out. Take some time out of your day, come sign up for a library card, and see what wonders await you in their large selection!
Best library in johnson county?
I can vaguely remember when this location was just about finished being built and it was considered a great resource for those who were students of medicine or law. There were a variety of characteristics offered specifically for the individual who would be utilizing the resources at this location.
We love this library and go here often! The librarians are usually helpful and kind. However, weve had many interactions where that was not the case. Often children (in the childrens area) are chastised, receptionists are impolite, and I dont know...sometimes it seems like things are made to be more difficult just because someone asks for something the wrong way.By far weve had more positive interactions than negative and we will continue to go back. The selection isnt always great but we can usually request things and they will hold them for us from another branch location. The digital collection is also lacking, but were hopeful that will change in the future.I guess my hope in writing this is that there are some cultural changes that take place to make interacting with the library a more pleasant experience. Usually we try just to figure everything out ourselves but when we cant and we ask for help, I feel like that should be a positive experience most of the time.
Quiet and empty
Not crowded at all staff well prepared
This is a 5-star review solely for the Maker Space (I havent used the rest of this branch). The Maker Space is AWESOME! There are so many devices and tools to utilize. They have someone on staff to help out and answer questions. It also just feels very collaborative. Its cool to walk around and talk to other people about their projects. People were very excited to share what theyre working on. The best part is that its free and easy to use if you reserve ahead of time.
Very bad not HAPPY!
Its practically closed, no place to sit, a waste of time and tax payers money.Staffs kinda rude
The staff here is excellent just like it is at all the Johnson County Library‘s. They are friendly and eager to serve, finding the answers to any questions you care to pose. The facility is the crown jewel of the Johnson County Library system. They have lots of little study rooms that are perfect for personal or business meetings. Excellent use of the taxpayer’s money.
Huge library, can find almost anything youre looking for. Have massive archives of old newspapers on film, and added a MakerSpace in the last few years after a renovation. Love this place, have fond memories over the last 15 years, hope it stays around!
Always clean, friendly staff, amazing kids play area. Weve been coming here for 6 years now, these people are amazing at recommending books! The reading storytimes are so engaging for my kids. Plus using the online app means I can hold any book from any library and itll be shipped to that library for my convenience.
Love this library.
Best library ever! They renovated around a year ago, and its by far the best library in Johnson county now. The layout is great, they have tons of computers, and they even have a maker space with 3D printers, laser cutter, and a recording studio. Its all free for members to use, and there are people there who can teach you how to use any of the equipment. The only bummer to the maker space is its pretty popular, so if you want to use the equipment you need to book time well in advance.
I have a son who loves to build and create. The makerspace and the summer makerspace program have been amazing for him. It has given him opportunities that he would have never had otherwise. 6 years old and he has made things with a 3D printer, tried leather stamping, and make his own stop motion movie. This is a great library with some truly awesome programs.
Love this location!
This is probably the best library in Johnson County. With the makerspace, the round table discussions, and activites like the high school poetry (left me in tears kid shouldnt feel that much pain). Hands down best library. The librarians are very calm and patient with their patrons and guest even the children. Alot of the kids seek to the tutor in the back. My son likes her and has only been a few time. The kids and teen can be loud with comradery playing video games. I think thats awesome kids working together, building strategies. My son can find someone to team up with to finish whatever kid goal on a kids games. In the back to your left you can do some genealogy seeking, if so pleased. Oh, and its a library so yes there are plenty of books. I love this library its a great community in its self. Cant find that in to many places. Xoxo thank you guys for being awesome.
I go here every Saturday with my mom and kids. Love how the place looks now and the kids area is big and spacious. We love going here to pick out books and movies. Workers are nice as well.
This is a great library. The maker space is a something unique to this library. Anyone can come in to use the 3D printer, audio & video production studio, laser etcher and more. Theyve got a huge selection of books, music and videos plus a large computer section and meeting / study rooms. This place is an example of tax dollars well spent.
Just started a new job here! Update after a few weeks
This is a very poorly run facility. The layout is garbage. The bookstore is an embarrassment. The management is incompetent. It’s basically just a large air-conditioned lounge for the homeless and unemployed. A complete waste of taxpayer money. Tear it down and replace it with left-handed scissors store.
I go here all day the time. It has very good service
Apparently the teen and childrens section had turned into a video arcade with kids screaming at each other from their computers. Libraries are places where you come to study and relax and read and BE RESPECTFUL of others around you. Its so sad to see good morals and manners slipping away so rapidly because we are afraid to offend someone who has not been raised with respect and manners. Just very sad. This will be my last time coming to this library.
A great public library with space and computer resources to boot.
This is my nearest neighborhood branch. I have never been more impressed with the quality of services, title availability, or community service these fine people provide every day their doors are open. You are a true gift to my community and a balm for troubled times. Thank you.
I dont ever send negative reviews, but on a recent visit to the Central Resource Library shortly after its remodeling, I was expecting an improved atmosphere. I was with a child and visited the Childrens section. I was very unhappy with the cold and impersonal remodeling of this section. The former Childrens section had character and warmth, window seats to sit and read, extra items to add to the life of the book characters and to reel in the childs imagination. I asked at the information desk if they could help us access ABC Mouse, an educational website, as other JOCO libraries offer this to child patrons. The person at the information desk near the Childrens section did not know anything about it. If you want to access this website you otherwise have to sign up for a Free Trial. I noticed the Adult Computer section on the way out. There were rows of adults huddled together in one room, no privacy or individual workstations. There is plenty of open carpeted space throughout the library not in use, a playground for young children to run wild, and not utilized for the typical library patron who would feel comfortable with an off to the side quiet reading or study area. Im not sure what firm was contracted to design the remodeling, but it was not designed with the needs of its patrons in mind.
I think there are fewer computers to use now than before. The huge unused space makes it seem like there are more comps. What happened to the semi-private computer kiosks. Loved those esp the ones near the huge tinted windows. I find the huge open space a bummer esp as a student. The human traffic is such a distraction. There are only 2 study rooms for 2 people, for 2 hours. I remember spending hours on end on the semi-private kiosks... Bring them back pleeeaasseee!!!
This is my favorite library of all time. They have great services here. You can also borrow ebooks online through their app that works on most tablets and phones. The physical book selection is also great and you can get put books on hold off of their website if you want to pick them quickly to avoid looking through multiple shelves. They also have fax machines that you pay per page and copier access if needed. You can also get online magazines through the Zinio app. ALso video games can be borrowed here. THey also have a large computer lab if you need Internet access and free wifi if you bring your own device.
Love this place! I come over from Missouri because they just have so much more over here and its much better quality. Check out the MakerSpace too!
The makerspace is great. The folks there are knowledgeable in the software and the machines and can help makes sure your project goes smoothly.
Always friendly staff, available computers, and word processers make me feel more than welcome. Have been helped so many times! I could make this my home away from home.
Amazing library. First time I walked in, I was awed by how snazzy the design of the building was. There is a huge book selection here. This is also a great library for studying - there are tons of big desks, all with outlets for plugs. There are also many public computers available. It can get cold, though, so bring a jacket.
The used book store inside is pretty good. Decent selection and prices are cheap.
Me and my wife and our 4 kids love this library. It has an outstanding collection of books, every amenity that you could ask for, up todate equipment, plenty of meeting/ study rooms which Ive used on many occasions a courteous and knowledgeable staff and more!
What time should I be enrolling in classes? Some random time in the morning they dont tell us when they post it... You also do not know when to keep checking vs when its already full. It says closed both before its open, and after its full.
Futuristic and real easy to use for young and not so young, daughter loves the kids area and builder space.
The library is very nice and modern, but the maker space is really what sets this library apart. The staff is very helpful and it is really fun to see what everybody is creating.
If they dont have it then they will get it for you. Nice staff for sure.
So many outlets! An abundance of places to sit! Free wifi! No homeless people (thats a symptom of a bigger problem, KC downtown. Get on that). What more could a girl want? - Millennial-who-constantly-studiesin-places-thats-anywhere-but-her-room.
It looks pretty clean, but I miss the window seats
Central Resource Library, and the Johnson County libraries in general, carry one of the most appealing, diverse collections for a public nonspecialized library in the country. Ive visited large West Coast libraries, and the JoCo system is up there with the best of them. In addition, the Web site and online account management is first-rate and improving all the time. I dont have a complaint. The JoCo Library system is one of the reasons this recent West Coast transplant is happy to be in the KC Metro area.
I love this place!!! When I wanna place to get away, this is always my first choice!
Great library and clean too
Great checkout books and use the computers in the library
Comfy, inviting, friendly place to look for books.
Staff are friendly and helpful.
Huge library with tons of activities and even 3D printers!
I enjoy the new maker space.
Great library!
Really friendly staff!
Good place for read
