A great view and fall surrounded by nearly impossible terrain. Stay on trail, please. A population of Western Whiptail lizards races along the sunny incline near the falls...great to try and catch. One of the best places in the county to throw in the towel when your ticket is called, as well.

One of the best waterfalls in Northern California. The loop can be strenuous at times (about 8.8 miles round trip), but is doable for all ages. Just be sure to bring some water and snacks that you can consume on the numerous benches and stopping spots located throughout the trails. Dogs are welcome and its a great hike for them as well. I would recommend starting early so that you can park up close and before it gets too warm. Luckily a majority of the trails are partial or fully shaded!

Beautiful hike. Definitely take low trail in and high trail out. The trail is in places washed out and can be a bit dangerous during rainy season. So worth the hike. I cant wait to go back.

Loved this hike! Amazing view of feather falls halfway through the loop. Some incline but not too strenuous. Lots of shade under the trees. Dog friendly but beware of ticks (see photo)!

Fun fact: this is the 6th highest waterfall in the world at 680 feet! Excellent views, moderate difficulty hike through a lush area. Worth the long, out of the way drive required to access the trailhead.

Definitely a moderate hike and mostly shaded, but bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Take the left at the first junction and continue the loop clockwise for the easiest route. Stop at the overlook, then continue on the trail to reach atop the waterfall.Happy Hiking!

One of my favorite places to hike. Pretty easy, but start earlier to avoid the heat. However beware of ticks for your 4 legged friends.

Absolutely beautiful hike, but the end is about a mile or two of uphill, so be prepared for that! Bring water and snacks if youre doing the whole loop. A little overgrown because they didnt get to maintain the trail due to shutdowns. Wear pants and such because theres a lot of poison ivy and oak.

Feather Falls trail is a great trail with an incredible waterfall, but the trail is long and somewhat difficult due to the length. The trail will take a minimum of 3 hours to complete the entire loop which is about 8+ miles in length. After the first quarter mile the trail splits into two, I would recommend taking the lower trail to the left which is shorter to the falls and take the upper trail back which is longer, but has a milder climb. Overall and incredible trail with some amazing scenery.

I want to say Thank you to the Young man Who helped me and my kids and mom out of the trail Yesterday. We were so tired and after pushing a jogger stroller uphill for hours I didn’t know how much further I could push.. a young man a 2 young women passed us and he came back to ask if we needed help. He was definitely our guardian Angel yesterday. Thank you so much I hope you see this!! I didn’t even get your name️ but we definitely bit off more than we could chew. I don’t recommend doing this trail with small children.. yes I read reviews and by the time we made it to main falls we just passed by so we could get home in a timely matter.. it is beautiful and might try again with friends but NOT with kids but to our guardian Angel who helped us thank you for your kind heart ️

Amazing place to come hiking, just come prepared. The hike has 2 routes: a 4.5 mile and a 3.3 mile option. We did the 4.5 mile in and out for a total of 9 miles, totally worth it! The Feather falls are breathtaking in a perfect setting. If you hike up behind the falls there is a place to swim.We got to the parking lot at 11am and finished at 5pm, prepare to get in early and make this a whole day event.Recommendations: Bring 2 liters of water per person, a hat, waterproof hiking shoes, and WATCH OUT FOR POISON OAK (LEAVES OF 3, LET EM BE).

Falls are amazing. Beautiful view from the observation deck and had them all to myself on a Thursday afternoon.Trails needed a little work done but nothing major. Being mostly shaded helped too. The creek on the return part of the loop is beautiful as well. Roundtrip, not including lunch at the falls, we finished in just under 3 hours.

First of all definitely for seasoned hikers! No water anywhere to drink that is! So take plenty of water and snacks! Very long hot dry and winding paths. Took a lot longer than we expected. 9 miles up and back! Took us 6 hours! Wear comfortable shoes. We wanted to turn around but decided to continue. Disappointed that the trail doesnt take you close enough to get some of the water spray from the fall! Darn! But from afar beautiful! Good luck!

The campground here is fantastic. Beautiful, free place to camp. It gets pretty crowded on Saturdays. The plumas national Forest website says there is drinking water here but there isnt any- none of the spigots worked when we were there. The road is paved all the way, but it gets very steep and narrow at some sections.

Review №54

The path to the waterfall isn’t the most scenic but it has it’s moments as you reach the lookout area. I would recommend bringing some bug spray because you’ll end up with 20 mosquito bites otherwise. This is also a long hike that involves steep hills and narrow paths with lots of poison oak/ivy so don’t wear shorts. Bring a camera or drone for some good coverage. You can also reach the waterfall itself. Not really easy to explain but once you reach a sharp turn that leads to the lookout area, theres a path that leads you all the way around to the fall itself. Just be careful because somebody always falls & dies once year if not more. Overall it was worth every bug bit and heavy breathing!
