Not bad, the Kong animatronic is great but the video portions are just rehashes of the tram tour. Too many of Universals attractions are simulators or rehashes of other parks. At least it’s not Fast and Furious. Feels like a poor attempt at Indiana Jones in Disneyland.
No, just no.Universal tried to make a unique take on Kilimanjaro Safaris but its horrible. Again, Universal wants to do 3D and in this aspect its horrible. Sitting in a truck looking back and forth to see whats going on.I have no idea who thought of this, but I feel like they lack creativity upon creating this ride. Although the outside building and queue lines seem to give better attention to details than the ride itself. They could have easily made a coaster out of this ride where you zip around Skull island, through tunnels and then the final scene at the Empire State Building and you drop down to avoid getting hit by Kong. This is not an attraction to go on a second time, let alone wait 10+ minutes for.
I love the concept here truly. Integrating 3D and animatronics together is ambitious, and they have almost pulled it off. The animatronics and the massive King Kong look incredible without a doubt. The 3D looks good most of the time, until they get close. One of the better rides for sure.
This ride is okay. Very similar to the Fast and the Furious ride only much better. I kind of like the line queue more than the ride itself. The ride itself is kind of fun. You get to experience the world of Kong. The thing that bothers me is that there are screens on both sides of the ride vehicle. With action going on both of them. So youre constantly turning your head left to right looking at everything. If youre sitting at the end of a row, you have a perfect view of whats going on on your side. However, you have to look across a row of people to see the other side. So you can have a hard time seeing whats going on. Not my ideal ride type, but still somewhat fun. The wait time is normally pretty long.
I love this ride. Its fun, cool and exciting. One of my fave rides at Islands of adventure . The only thing I dont like is that paying for the express line doesnt really help here. It takes too long after paying lots of money for express.
This is a great ride, but its not perfect. If youre afraid of bugs, crawlies, or bug guts like I am, theres a large section in the middle of the ride with only that, and the special effects squirts water on you to simulate bug venom and guts. Its true to the film, but still gross. Theres also actors in the queue that jumpscare you, and Im personally not a fan of that either. If neither of those things bother you, youll enjoy this ride. The queue is well themed, the screens are high quality and exciting, and the Kong animatronic at the end is absolutely amazing and stunning, and hes the best part of the ride. The only problem is that due to the safari truck style vehicle, it can be hard to see whats going on from the other side of the car.
I was so disappointed with this attraction, especially given the surrealness of its setting, enormity, and queue features. It ended up being extremely anticlimactic, which is such a shame because I can’t imagine how much work went into designing it - between the storyline, animatronics, filming, etc. Super forgettable and a total waste of time.
It was good but its not as good as the original Kongfrontation! I personally dont feel as immersed with the 3D glasses vs. Awesome Banana Breath King Kong! Also, the fire explosions kept your attention on whats going to happen next with the old ride!
Even the que is fun on this one. Few surprises so watch out
It was good. Worth going on at least once. 4 stars from me because I find 3D screen rides not as interesting as real rides through real props. If they are done well they can be good. Go check it and decide what you think. The Kong at the end is cool, and walking through the entrance is spooky/creepy/an experience on its own.
Some see King Kong as a hideous monster but we all know he is a hero and ladies man. This is a highly underrated ride given some of the big name attractions in the park. The entire family loves this one, and in our last visit we rode it twice. I would definitely suggest finding your way to this ride and if you have a fast pass you can do this for less than a hour wait even in peak times. Have fun!
The doors kept malfunctioning after waiting about 50 minutes WITH fast passes so that added another 20 when finally getting onto the ride it was the worst ride I have ever been on
Cool graphics and solid theme throughout the line and ride enjoyed thoroughly.we have visited this in off season so it was only 10 minutes wait for us. Lucky us :) as people have waited even 2-3 hours for this ride in peak seasonThe queue line is awesome! Decorated amazingly with plenty of things to look at while youre waiting. that big worm, a skeleton on walls, dark alley. The chanting witch doctor was cool. The waiting line area is dark (not well lit) and intense with loud chanting/music.The ride it basically you riding through the woods and get attacked by different critters. The best part was when dinosaurs attack the vehicle and Kingkong fight with Dino. On both sides of the bus are screens showing a fight between two dinosaurs and Kong. The movement you feel makes it seem as if the dinosaurs and Kong are jumping on and over the bus. While it looks fine, it is very short, maybe only a few minutes. After Kong wins, the bus moves to another area with a largeyou will feel the fire heat. You get squirt by water no matter where you sit. The part where your cart gets rolled down the gorge did it for me. I enjoyed it none the less. The visual effects and 3D were pretty good, I definitely jumped in my seat on multiple occasions. If you want an up-close view of Kong at the end, sit on the back right;) at the end of the ride, kong roars for a few seconds. Definitely worth riding at least once.
The exterior and ride queue are fabulous. However, the ride itself is completely lack luster.
Fun ride but not worth more then a 45 minute wait. Its such a fast drive through the jungle, it isnt worth waiting that long. Its a cool ride, but check the Universal app for wait times. The set itself is actually the coolest part! Recommend if its a short wait - otherwise, dont waste your time here.
Honestly a disappointing ride, especially since they were trying to build the monster universe. But as a simulation it is ok.
If waiting time is over 60 minutes, take other ride, not worth it waiting more than 60 minutes
Thank god there was no line when I went (end of the day and park was almost closing) because this ride was a real disappointment!! It’s truly not worth waiting more than 30 minutes for. Don’t waste your time.Like another person said, the whole line leading up to the ride is dark and boring. There is nearly nothing to look at. You aren’t missing much here if you decide to skip out on this ride.
This is a fantastic 3D simulation ride that the entire family can enjoy. You load into a bus on a rescue mission to save fellow researchers on Skull Island. The bus will Tip and sway as King Kong fights off the monsters trying to harm you. You dont need seatbelts or have to put away your bags to ride the attraction, so that should give you an idea about how gentle the ride really is. Overall definitely recommend trying.
I loved the experience it really makes you feel like your on skull island the ride it self is amazing with the kong animotronic the one issue I have is the story I didnt get it at fisrts until I watched a youtube video how its the first expedition to the island prior to the 2005 movie. Only thing they should work on is really clarifying that.
Its okay. Line was long, even with Express Pass it takes too long to board and get through. Theres really only one scene of interest and its a giant screen ripped directly from a tram ride at Universal Hollywood. Queue is really cool. Not nearly as awful as Fast & Furious. Animatronic is cool too.
Wow... when I first rode this ride, I didnt like it because I was sitting at the edge of the vehicle and felt like I was going to get thrown out since there were no seatbelts. However, when I rode this ride again, this experience changed my mind completely about this ride. When we got on the ride, I was in the middle of the row, making me feel a bit safer because I didnt feel like I was going to get thrown out of the vehicle. Not only that, but I was able to understand the storyline better since I was sitting in the middle of the row. Overall, I will definitely revisit this ride when I come back to Islands of Adventure!
A very interesting ride focusing on 3D effects. The ending has a very cool and detailed surprise. Good ride if the line up is not too long, but I would not wait long for it.
Fantastic! Immersive! Phenomenal! What else can be descriptive for this super one of a kind ride! It’s like taking you and putting you exactly in the movie! I won’t spoil anything here, but let’s say that BOTH new riders and the old timers who remembers the original Kong will be treated with an amazing ride. There was moments that kept me at the edge of my seat, and let me say that for a slight moment I felt like I was going to cry cause it was that super great! Don’t miss it! Don’t miss it!
Love it just wish it could last little more
The attraction has a lot to offer and really gives you a great ride, but it’s just not the same as the original Kong ride. It’s your typical Universal screen ride with screens displaying on both sides of the ride vehicle. There’s usually a wait so be prepared. Doesn’t hurt your head like most Universal rides do.
Great ride. Very fun. Even the line was fun!!
Very enjoyable. Kids loved it. The atmosphere leading up to the ride is scarier than the ride itself.
A pretty good ride, but a very long line. There was a decent amount of stuff to look at but after 30min in one room it gets kind of boring staring at the intricately detailed walls. The ride was pretty good and worth a wait just not 2 hours. The details in the ride and the interactive feeling you get is very appealing. There some parts that can get you a bit wet but nothing 10min in the sun cant dry. King Kong at the end was amazing!
This looked SO REAL. Really fun, must go for universal.
Disappointing.!!! Dont expect anything close to the original ride that used to be at The Studios.!!! Universal (like the rest of Hollywood and its movies) have truly lost touch with what Fun is supposed to mean.!!!The Kong ride is basically a large ride vehicle (the same ride vehicle as the Fast & Furious ride) that takes you through a bunch of huge video screens and scrimp that try to put you into the action, but all it really does is throw you around for 3 minutes (after a long, hot, and noisy hour long wait in the que line) while you basically watch clips from a movie... Not worth the time when you can spend less on the DVD and watch the even worse movie...
It was an awesome ride it looks very realistic my whole family enjoyed the ride I can’t wait to go back again.
Good to experience if you have extra time but wouldn’t say it worth the long wait.
Waiting way longer because they had to add a car. At 11:30 on a Thursday. Boo
The 4-D effects were great, but sad to not see some of the actors from the movie playing their parts. Good ride, great movement and visuals. Story was...well, there was no story actually. Just Kong beating the pulp out of some V-Rexes. Still a good time!
Very nice ride!
It was a cool ride or should I say safari ride?.lol. Unlike other rides it isnt dropping off or moving or anything like that its sitting in a truck and going through a 3D motion picture sort of thing, all you do is sit and move seeing all the screens. The feel is really good. The entrance of the place is spooky and is fun.The lines were super loooooong. worth visiting once to get the whole feel of the movie. The real twist is at the end of the ride when kong shows up.
My family and I waited in line for nearly 3 hours for this ride. While many of the other highly sought rides at Universal have a somewhat entertaining line set up, this ride does not. The line set up is incredibly uncomfortable with limited sights, the redundant sequence of growling noises and script. It is successful in boring the riders while also giving them a headache. Imagine 3 hours, most of which are spent inside a dimly lit, musty smelling space, with nothing to look at except blackish cement and skulls and a constant rumbling as well as the crowd chatter. What a horrible experience. The only actual entertaining part of this set up is a momentary break from the continuous grumbling noises is a tribal witch doctor shouting and pointing into the crowd of riders. This is actually quite well done. I think it could be improved by making the words being spoken actually understandable to the riders. The crates and storage items near the end of the line where also very well done with scary noises and life-like creatures. When we were finally on the ride it started off fairly positively. The script was decent and the shaking and moving of the transport vehicle seemed to be right on with an actual tour through the rugged island landscape. The computer graphics where less than impressive. I can’t believe it is that difficult to create a computer animation in which the characters are actually life sized and to scale with the rest of the ride’s set. This dysfunction reaches a high point when the Kong that has battling other deadly creatures throughout your island tour is significantly smaller than the Kong we meet at the end of the ride. Personally, I think it is a waste of time to wait for more than 30 minutes for this ride and that’s only if you’ve never ridden on it before. I think I’m being quite generous with this time estimate. I probably would have given this ride a 3 out of 5 if it hadn’t been for the multiple disruptions during the actual ride. The screen glitched and froze multiple times and the transport vehicle actually came to a complete stop with the screens freezing and going blank twice for several minutes. When we finally got off the ride, nothing was said by the attendants, no apology or anything to the riders. Talk about terrible customer service! This is a, “never do again” for me.
Funny story. This ride is really fun from what I’ve collected so far. I’ve never had a successful ride on this. I’ve ridden this about 4-5 times and every single time the screen froze and the ride stopped for about 20 minutes, and then just drove to the loading station and we got off the ride. I’ve gotten through about 2/3 of the ride before the glitch happens, but it was fun from what I’ve ridden.
I was in absolute awe on this ride. The combination of 3D and practical effects made it all feel real.
Way too short of a ride nicely done though. The walk through was intense. Very enjoyable.
Love this ride!)
The attractions while waiting in line were better than the ride. Big miss.
Amazing 3D effects tour in a safari truck and you are to help some adventurers on a field trip. The tour starts at a nice leisurely pace with fantastic special effects but has a crisis which speeds things up. Kong and fellow inhabitants may scare some smaller children but ours at 10 and above coped. Would certainly have a second go.
Missed this ride. Husband wasnt sure if 3D/ 4D screen would make him ill. Next time...
This was a big surprise for me - I didnt expect much from it, but I enjoyed very much. The quality of animation is great, atmosphere is great. I got there in the morning and didnt wait at all...
Good attraction. Good landscape. Its a simple bus, but the fact the 4D experience its actually 360° (which means different things can be happening at the same time in any side, and from side to side) and the very realistic animatronic at the end makes this attraction great. Also, the bus performs some movements to trick your imagination for sudden drops and other effects, so its a simple bus, but at the same time its not. Its a little bit more.
If it’s not a busy day when you go check out this ride for the fun of it. We waited two hours in the fast pass lane and it was not worth it at all. Visually it was fun but not worth the wait, maybe fun if you really like the franchise!
This ride is setup similarly to the Fast and Furious ride the only difference here is that they pull it off where F&F doesn’t. The queue for this ride is also well themed. The only problem is that its almost too dark in places and I had a hard time being able to tell which direction I was supposed to go. It’s a minor problem though.I enjoyed this ride, its a bit simple as you are loaded onto a car on a simple track. The car doesn’t spin or anything but you get to see a lot the environment around you. It’s fun with lights and sounds but the payoff is really at the end where you get to see a massive Kong animatronic. It’s so well done you believe there’s a giant king of the apes in front of you.
Great experience but to short the game! I spected something more special for the time to wait! But its great!
I was disappointed as the ride had not opened when we were there. Still under construction. Looked really neat though.
The wait is better than the ride. The line area has a very cool creepy theme but the excitement ends there. The ride is short and not well done. Its a slow bus ride with many visuals that one cant even see because of other peoples heads. Its a shame that universal is moving towards these type of rides instead of high octane coasters.
I liked this a lot more than it seems others here did... I thought it was fantastic. Loved the bus, the drive, the experience with Kong etc... I had a short wait, so there was that... I mark this up there with one of my favorite rides at Universal.
This ride was very fun for the most part but one part I didn’t like was the 3-D I thought it was good but could have been better! The reason why this is 5 stars is because of the LIFE SIZE KONG!!! This was a extremely realistic animatronic that looked like Kong was really with you!
The walk to the ride is intense. People pop out and scare you, it is dark, and they have spooky anamatronics all over. It kind of gets you in the mood for the ride. It gets really squished on the benches for the ride though so that is pretty uncomfortable. The detail of the first part of the ride is amazing with the gate to enter! The 4D show was great and the ride was so fun. We did the ride twice because we enjoyed it so much. I would not advice taking kids on this ride though.
Boring after the first go around. The bug bounces, theres fire, then its just tv screens everywhere and a big torso only animatronic kong.
It is a cool ride but the queue area seems better than the actual ride itself. Neatly designed 4D ride with a traditional theme park storyline that uses screens from both sides of the ride. The first time I had to wait 90 minutes for a 5 minute amusement but the decor and design of the waiting areas really made up for it. Now, I was lucky to sit on the end seat but I dont know what the experience would have been, had I been on one of the middle seats. It may have been much better if the ride vehicle was not a covered up truck with lateral screens.
Lots of fun. I did not think it would be as cool as it was, but totally worth the visit.
Sooooo!! Realistic.
Pretty meh... Idea is cool, facade and the whole decor is awesome, BUT this ride really should a two seater. The whole bus and heads in front kill the immersion and you feel like you are sitting in some sort of interactive cinema. Not particularly impressive
The wait wasn’t too bad, exotically because of the decorations and creepy atmosphere. The ride itself was amazing! What an amazingly unique experience. My friends and I absolutely loved this ride, and I would go on it again if I ever come back.
We had an absolute blast at Hogsmeade and all things Harry Potter First, before I say anything else, let me say that the Hagrid ride is worth the wait!!! Its the best ride of them all! We rode it 3 times while we were there (3 days) and it was worth the wait every time. The longest we waited was about and hour and 45 mins but the line moves quickly and alot of it in inside, so it doesnt seem that long. Of course, the food and everything else is very expensive. We got 3 soft pretzels and 2 waters and it was almost $40. It was cheaper for the 3 of us to eat at the Three Broomsticks for lunch than it was to buy those pretzels.
Great ride. Action takes place on the sides of you, seamlessly interacting and moving between both sides. The King King animatronic is breathtakingly realistic.
A journey that begins in the likes of the native village where they will scare you. Then, be prepared to see many creatures, including the beast himself, KONG, in this epic adventure that will make you want to go again and again!
Look of the ride is amazing but the actual ride experience was a bit disappointing. Still some great affects though.
The wait was the best part of the ride, surprisingly. The actual ride was boring. All you do is see King Kong and a dinosaur fighting. The train shook too much and my head hurt. I gave it a two star because the wait line. If the wait line was like other rides, I would’ve given it a one star. Karma.
The best seat is the rightmost of the truck
Boring ride for what you wait for. Even the single rider line is very slow since it just merges with the main line and its not very useful. Dont waste your time waiting on this one. Only recommended if youve done everything else in the park and there is no wait.
One of the top rides at the park. Cinematics are crazy good and the gorilla looks extremely real at the end lol.
The atmosphere is great but I wish the ride had more practical sets and effects instead of 3D screens.
Very good redo of the old King Kong ride.
The line is more entertaining than the ride. In fact I think more of the rides budget went to the line than the ride itself. All you do is ride a bus and watch a scene from the movie happen around you on big screens. Rather have the old ride from Universal Studios return.
Fun ride. Love the atmosphere leading up to the ride almost as much as the ride itself.
This was a fun ride that we really enjoyed. The skulls were very well done... since they were real.
5 year old was so scared but the rest of us had fun.
Amazing ride. Went on it twice just to watch it again.
It was very fun
This is the worst ride I’ve ever been on.
This was a good ride.
This ride is probably my favorite at Universal Orlando, but the line is absolutely terrifying. There are live scare actors that pop out at random times. I love the mechanic of having different narrators for the ride and the team members are generally accommodating. The line is also extremely well-themed.
Pretty cool ride! In LA they incorporated the ride in the studio tour. This one is the full ride!
Nice new ride. I would say the line has some excitement. The ride itself is pretty fun, Universal sure loves their motion simulator 3D Track rides where it takes you to all different screens for stuff to happen. The front facade of the ride was very impressive. It made the misty mountains look real!
Best ride @Universal. Kong reals comes to life. Amazing piece of art.
The level of 3D technology used is amazing, genuinely is a great experience!
One of the most immersive rides in the whole park. The queue is exciting, the ride is incredibly impressive with how much detail went into it, and the ride vehicles are huge. The only problem is the wait times can get pretty long so I recommend doing this ride first thing in the morning when you arrive at the parks.
Completely enjoyed this ride. 6 year old and up, Kid friendly.
