I was never a fan of this movie as a child, personally, but my wife was. She decided that we should try it so she could convince me that Im wrong about the movie.Ive gotta say, after doing the ride, Im in no hurry to review the movie again. This is one of the strangest rides Ive ever been on. The short version of this review would be to say it is as if ET, the Ride, was done by Willy Wonka and Captain Jack Sparrow. The concept itself starts out okay, as you wander through a cave and then a dark forest to the area where the government agents are hunting for ET. You board a bike - a massive one that seats about 16 people - and fly away with ET in your basket. So far, so good. You spend your time with the theme music, evading the police and eventually flying high enough to get a birds eye view of the town.~~~~~SPOILER~~~~~~For some odd reason, though, you end the ride cruising your Huffy through a weird alien village where a cosmic version of the ET theme plays as you watch different types of alien forms and their homes. Then its done.As I said, I wasnt a big fan of the movie and had to ask my wife if this was in it. Its only been 40 some years since I saw it. She was kind of weirded out, herself. Now she regrets having made me ride it. Shes been ride shamed. She also has no intention of subjecting me to the movie. Im not even sure she wants to see it again after this.If youre up for some kind of weird acid trip that only partially resembles the ET movie, this is for you. If not, live in the nostalgia. Its better that way.
My wife really enjoys the traction but be aware you will wait in a line for at least an hour even if you go on a Tuesday.
Only good ride in the park, still has heart and is not just another simulator.
Although this ride is older, its still enjoyable. Definitely a good ride for kids
Fun kiddish type ride. Definitely for everyone. Its starts off, like in the movie, with ET escaping. It then gets all wth just happened did someone just slip me some magic mushrooms. I dont remember this in the movie. I can imagine people riding this after drinking some special tea. Someone reason reminds me of Fallout 4 and the amusement park space adventure in the gam.
Family classic thats a must go. However, remember its a classic and not up to date. Looked exactly the same as it did when they first opened it. Some things have been added and ET no longer says your name at the end due to the pandemic.
Great way to start a day at Universal Studios with some 80s throwback Movie ride. You Gotta love ET,Friends
A classic! Fun for all ages and never gets old. #magdoll
Fun classic ride, but the 2nd half feels out of place and weird. The first half while still on Earth is a neat nostalgic recreation of the movie. You feel like youre flying on the bikes as you rush past police chasing you in the forest. After you go to ETs home planet it becomes an odd psychedelic trip with weird looking aliens and baby ETs singing the movie theme. The weird 2nd half is about 3/4 of the ride so it kinda drags on. Since the popularity of the ride has slowed since it debuted 30 years ago, the pre-show is now skipped which would help with some of the plot.Either way the first part of it is fun. I hate to say it, but even though its the last original ride, it might be time to do something new. Though I respect them keeping it for so long and not replacing it. Its good to see a practical effect driven ride in a non-Disney park.
Introduced son to movie E.T. and he loved it...went on the ride Enjoyed it even more!
My childhood! My Movie. Old but nice and beautiful ride.
This is beautiful for your kids to see i recommend lets the kids see the movie first, tha way they appreciate more but is WONDERFUL!
Very cute ride great for small kids to feel like flying. Not a fast ride or to jerky.
A nice relaxing ride, An instant classic has a really nice air freshener scent in the air.
Always Good And Memorable .....still as good as first day
It was a good kids ride, and the flying parts were cool. The ride is just old, and you can tell
It was great ride...my kids loved it...will do again soon
Great for the little kids, well ok, its great for adults also
The kids really enjoyed this one. If you ride it after a violent roller coaster its a nice gentle ride in between.
Cool & exciting. Great staff!
Great family ride. Also hand sanitizer is available before and after the ride.
Awesome ride Ive enjoyed it since I was a kid.
Ride broke while in line. Gave us free fast pass passes
LOVED IT !! Takes you back to when movies were for the family !!
Great ride but the seats were very uncomfortable
Great ride takes me back to 1981
One of our favorite rides! But please fix Bottanicus in the forest.
Always a great flashback to the beginning of Universal.
Very fun and historical ride.
Took my 8 year old on this ride, I had never been on it. It took me back to my youth.
Very great attraction, oldest attraction here and it still stands strong!
A classic ride I enjoy every time
It needs a update. Way to old. Time to scrap it and try again.
It was a great definitely recommend for the family
Neat but the second half is amazing how bad it is
Classic attraction! Timeless Magic
I love this ride.
Never get rid of this ride I love it so much!!!!!!
Quite possibly my favorite ride at Universal. Although it’s outdated and a bit obscure, it’s always an enjoyable ride for me because it rarely has a wait, and it’s a good source of A/C on a hot day. The queue is also very well themed (and smells authentic). My favorite pet is when ET says your name at the end, although this feature isn’t always in effect, potentially depending on wait time and how busy the park is.Overall, an enjoyable experience.
Nice ride, bring old memories!!!
I think it was a good ride long, long ago but it pales compared to other, newer rides in the park. The animatronics are dated and simplistic but the theming is in depth although a bit dusty if you look too closely. Its a mild ride so most of the family can enjoy and still fun for anyone to ride thats in the right mood.
This ride is a great ride as a ET fan it’s a little outdated not going to lie but it’s still a great fun ride There is only one thing they should improve to seats the seats are very loose and they are defiantly breaking and are not gonna kick very longer... I defiantly think they should keep this ride as it’s the only original Universal ride still standing but they should fix and update everything
Would do it again. I really felt like a kid again. I felt so happy that I teared up... Shhh dont tell my husband... Lol BRING YOUR KIDS! Great memories to be made here. I was in heaven. Truly the best Christmas!
It was fantastic!
A relaxing ride with amazing scenery, ride through with ET in the bike basket. One of the most iconic rides of all time. A Steven Spielberg movie brought to life and wow what an amazing adventure it is. After the ride is over make sure you go to the gift shop. ETs toy closet for Merchandise and to take a green screen picture on the bicycle or a picture with et in the toy closet. A most do ride with not a long wait time as usual. Get your passport and ride on lol
Needs to be re mastered
We like the ride and hopefully never changes. If you like the movie then you will like this ride. Rides change to much but glad this ride is a classic.
Very cute ride
This is a nice dark ride and is a classic universal ride a music rider for any one going to the park and yes it is showing its age but that gives it some of it’s charm.
This ride has aged like bread left on the counter for months. I dont know who designed this drug trip nightmare but I swore someone must have put something in my cup when I was on it. This is the only attraction left that was installed for the original park opening and it certainly shows. The animatronics are old and outdated, the water on the ride is dirty and smells like one too many kids had an accident, and the mannequins look slightly threatening. I dont know how they managed to convince Steven Spielberg to be apart of this monstrosity but they should probably apologize and send a compensation check his way for the brutal evisceration of his Oscar winning piece. Would be best to rip this out and update it with something that wont give small children nightmares. Would give 0 stars if at all possible.
I didnt ride it
Nostalgic ride, the smell after all these years still smells of forest. The ride hasnt changed. However I know this ride is destined for the bin same as Back to the Future and Jaws. All I hope is the Universal grow some sense and make it a Scooby Doo ride or something more timeless. ET is a beloved ride and I will be sad when it leaves but in the perspective of a business it isnt making as much as other rides and maintenance I bet is very costly.
The best ride at Universal!!
Broke down before ride opened
Old school fun
ET and the staff are really great
A classic, but definitely showing its age. 80s animatronics and video lead into a flying bike ride that is calm enough for any rider.
One of my favorite ride in universal. yes i know it sounds silly but its just so incredibly fun, i would be devastated if they shut it down. everytime i go in i smell that amazing aroma of pine trees (fake, obviously). the forest looks so real, its a must-do, not only because its such a fun and slow ride, but because its a bit old, and one day it may stop working, so try it while you can ;)
Oldie but a goodie.
Its a classic indeed! Yes, it is showing its age but for me, it hasnt lost its magic. My daughter absolutely loved it and wants to go back. please dont get rid of it, maybe update it, yes...but please keep it!
Alsome have to go
Iconic! Oldest ride yet one of the best! Don’t expect to be jerked around a screen. Expect to be put into the actual movie set riding in a bike. So beautiful! The stars and all the details make this ride so gorgeous and real. Everyone will enjoy the ride especially E.T. fans!
Its aight
The best ride at any Universal park around the world, in my opinion. Please dont ever get rid of it or change it drastically. I would love to see it remain kept up to the 90s standards of practical effects goodness. Its more immersive to be surrounded by something physical than a screen.
Thats beautiful
The ride is boring...
My all-time favorite ride. Its a nice relaxing break from the thrill rides!
This was a family friendly ride but Steven Spielberg was on some stuff because this is a trippy nightmare. Not my thing. Express enabled.
Ride was great fun! Brought back memories of watching the movie in the movie theater. Bought an E.T stuffed doll in the gift shop.
Classic Universal ET ride on the back of a bicycle accompanied by the movie soundtrack. It starts off well then goes a bit weird once you get to ETs planet.
I always thought ET was creepy, but it was a good ride. It wasnt a thrill ride, but it was a ride through the movie. You are in the air on bikes flying through each scene. The part where it looks like you are flying high over a city is so cool.
This ride hasn’t aged well, but was fun nonetheless. The walk up to the ride is actually pretty cool and is used to build suspense, which I thought was a really nice touch. The ride itself has you riding a bicycle through the forest, which is a neat experience. Probably a good attraction for kids (who are familiar with E.T.?)
Fun ride
Best ride at Universal Studios. The ride is very nostalgic and it is like stepping back in time to an actual movie set. Its nice that there is still something original in the park that isnt a ride you sit in that jerks you around in front of a big screen. I hope they never do away with this ride. Now if only they would bring back Jaws!
The line was short and it was entertaining for both my 4 and 12 year old.
Its a ride designed for small kids and their parents. Slow pretty and cool temp. Otherwise not worth the 3 minutes of waiting
Old, outdated and really boring... Needs to be updated and less creepy.... Having ET saying my name was Wilson at the end was the best part...
This ride saved my life, I was going through a hard time in my life... but I saw the glory of the ET Adventure and my life was changed for the better. If I could marry a roller coaster, I would definitely marry this ride.
ET Is a blast for both kids and adults!
Attendent did not give me a card. When I got to ride they asked for card.. I told them I wasnt given one. They let me know I needed one to get on ride. They asked me to proceed to the exit (as I was about to get on ride). She took me down the corridor and then had me turn around to get on ride stating, that was just a ruse we do to see if people are stealing the cards.. You can get on.. You dont need the cardListen, if you dont need a card dont ask for one. And dont put someone through the embarrassment because your attendant did not indicate a card must be taken to go on the ride.
Loved it. One of the few rides here where you don’t have to wear 3D glasses and instead uses real world animatronics. It’s weird in a good way. Hopefully they keep it around and just update the animatronics over time.
My favorite ride at Universal. Im so happy they still have it considering how long ago the ET movie was made. Its a little dated, but that adds to the nostalgic feeling you get when you ride it.
Classic ride!
Such a classic. So glad Universal hasn’t scrapped this ride yet. It’s just so original being that it’s really the only ride still around from the beginning. There is nothing better than feeling like your flying around in the movie. Just all around fun. Wish they would bring back the way ET used to say your name at the end.
Nice place
We love E.T. and will enjoy our memories on this ride. Welcome home!
Brings back the good old E.T. movie days. It is kind of tucked away from the French Quarter mainstreet in Hollywood Studios (took forever to find it in the dark the first time I got on it) but its so iconic. Yes, the technology seems to be archaic against all the new fancy ride but I hope Universal keep this one forever. The ride is a flying bicyle, not another automobile look-like vehicle, locates inside of a forest with the wondeful scent of trees, and its a non-3D. I love every feature of it minus the queue time.
Back to my childhood
One of our favorite rides. Dont worry, it has no drops or sudden speed ups. Its like going up the skiing lift with nice ET themes.
A classic--but could use some updating. Each time I go to Universal I ride ET at least twice--its definitely a great queue once are inside the building, walking amongst the forest. The ride vehicle is adorable. I love the ride through the forest--but the later part of the ride is a little wonky. Id love to see this rethemed to Stranger Things--which has similar scenes and set-art.
I love the nostalgia of this ride! Its too bad that they dont make them like this anymore.
This goes out to you and all of the reviews that bash this atttaction because it’s “outdated” or “doesn’t have cool effects”...ET Adventure opened with Universal Studios Florida back in 1990 and is still the only attraction left from opening. This ride is not boring, it’s packed full of charm. Do you go to Disney and say “pirates of the Caribbean is dated it need to be torn down”? No, you don’t. This ride is sentimental to a lot of people. But what do you care right? You’d rather sit in a simulator and fly around New York City with Jimmy Fallon. This ride is stunning. It’s fantastic for the kids, and nostalgic for adults. I ride it at least twice when I visit. And one last note, ET cannot be torn down because of Mr Spielberg. Good for him!
Its the worst ride at Universal. Boring AF.
Best ride in the world.
