This place is just so breathtakingly beautiful. Our Girl Scout troop rented it out for their annual father-daughter dance. It was very expensive but it was worth it because it was such a fancy venue and it made the girls feel like princesses for the night. Both the inside and the outside are just magnificent. I would like to take the tour some day.
The castle is a truly unique Omaha treasure. They offer tours of the castle itself with plenty of lovely architecture and historical background. They also host fun local events and are available for reservations. The grounds of the castle are stunning as well and open to the public all day and into the evening. A perfect place for a lunchtime walk in the bird sanctuary or pollinator garden and I believe it is officially an arboretum as well.
A ton of history in this one place. Guided tour is awesome! Beautiful interior!
Did a tour there, was pretty informative. The tour guide answered most of our questions and she was cute, so that was a plus! Very beautiful home, I’m glad they’ve maintained it so well!
Beautiful place to take a walk around the gardens year round or tour inside! Highly recommend.
Beautiful, impressive home.. Nice tour, very well-informed dedicated volunteer tour guide. Great historical story, very interesting.
Didnt know what to expect when going, but we were very impressed. The castle itself is absolutely beautiful and very well preserved. Our tour guide was incredible - funny and honest. We definitely enjoyed it!
I love walking the grounds here. It is so quiet and peaceful. Always some new little detail to discover in the gardens.
Very beautiful mansion! Loved the tour! Just did the regular tour but Id love to see the closed area tour sometime. The mansion is well cared for and the history of the Josyln family was informative. Heres to imagine a wedding there but Im sure the whole house transforms
This is nice palace to visit and spend some time here. The place is well organised and lots of fruits trees and awesome green view.
The castle is beautiful. The tour was very informative of the family who built and lived in the castle.
Beautiful historic mansion with a lot of beautiful restoration, and very knowledgeable, interesting, and cheerful volunteers and staff. A great way to spend an hour or two
This a beautiful and unique mansion in Omaha. I highly recommend visiting the Joslyn Castle to anyone!
Neat place of history, only place like it in the area. Tour runs about an hour and the guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Easy access and plenty of free parking
We didnt get to go inside because there was only one tour for the entire day, and it was limited to 10 people. We arrived early enough, but there was no option but to wait in the hot sun, surrounded by bees and wasps in the gardens. Meanwhile, all 3 of us ended up being desperate to go to the bathroom, so we had to leave without taking the tour. It would have been nice if an employee had been around to help us, check on us, and to answer our questions about where the handicap accessible entrance was.
All. Its a beautiful place!
Pretty cool place to go visit and the guides where very knowledgeable and answered any questions. Would and already have recommended friends/family to go visit.
I toured this place for a possible wedding venue, so my experience is a bit different than the average persons world be. That said, I found the place to be gorgeous. Its definitely worth checking out if your in the area.
It was actually closed due to Covid, but the ouside was a really clean and interesting building.
We love the castle. We had our wedding there 4th of July 2015!! Weve gone and put bird houses up every year on our anniversary but it seems theyve been removed now.. that made us a bit sad, but everything is just as beautiful as the year before. Its our favorite spot in Omaha!!
Was so excited to visit Joslyn Castle while visiting from Virginia! The tour was informative and the castle was beautiful. My 15 year old daughter was completely enthralled with it, asking so many questions if the tour guide, and he was so sweet!
Didnt get to go inside. But I look in some windows and we walked around. The place was amazing! Cant wait to go back when the castle is open so we can go inside for a tour.
Beautiful location tucked away in Omaha a beautiful retreat for a short walk, studying or catching up over coffee with a friend in the fresh air!
Five stars for architecture.Three stars for lack of your time.Four stars is the average
Wow what a beautiful place to visit and the tour she did great job
Outside path was alright, and the construction looks very cool. I wish they would have more access to the inside rather than just a couple times a week on a tour.
This is a beautiful castle. A must see! Go on the tour so you know the background of this historic home and the story of the family who lived here and how and what the interior and exterior are made from.
We went on one of their scheduled tours, Thursday at 2:00.They open the doors 15 minutes before the tour officially starts. No reservations needed. Admission is reasonable. There is plenty of private parking. The tour starts with a short video then your tour guide takes you on the house tour. Our tour guide was really informative, had stories, and was funny. She kept the attention of my 17 and 20 year old sons.I think George and Sarah would be proud of how well the house was being kept. They also have a gift shop with cute souvenirs.
Wonderful Guide, beautiful Castle...very enjoyable day
Wow! What gorgeous history right here in our city. As a military child I had the privilege of living in England, visiting their historical places. I was so blessed I always wish to take my kids one day. Dont overlook this gem my 11 and 12 years old boys loved the tour!!
Attended a small family wedding, it was a beautiful venue.
Its a beautiful place to go for walk! They have a little qr code to scan to learn more about the place, which is very helpful!
Its old and beautiful. When we went there was construction. However, there are sooo many different types of bricks we wondered if some of the bricking might be differently aged than others. Additionally, the grounds are a great place for meditation. I would advise anyone to go there who just wants a nice place to walk around, even if your not on a budget.
Hearing castle I thought itd be bigger but it is a mansion, touring the inside runs on a schedule so plan ahead. The garden is beautiful, especially in the Fall.
Neat older building, it was closed when I went...but I was able to walk the paths and peak in the windows. Worth checking out for sure
It was closed on Wednesday... they are working on Monday and Tuesday, couple hours, and couple hours on Thursday, and thats all. Very nice place, but ... closed.
The castle looks lovely. Our guide gave a thorough history of the rooms and grounds. Seeing the restorative process gave me a sense of grandeur.Children and adults alike can enjoy this wonderful Omaha landmark.
Incredible piece of Omahas history. NOTE: Public tours are available every Monday at 10:30am and 12:30pm, and the first and third Sunday of every month at 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm. The hours listed on the Google page are for the administrative office, not tours.
Wonderful place to visit! Staff is very knowledgable
Just walked around outside. Beautiful grounds.
Only allow visits by reservation on Sundays..tickets pricey.
Its a great place to take pictures and just walk around. The tour guides are knowledgeable and friendly. I personally went to one of the events. It was fun!
This is seriously one of the best places you could ever take a tour of. One of Omahas gems, the Joslyn Castle is a thing of history and beauty, taking a tour here takes you into the amazing lives of the Joslyns and what great people they were and the huge part in they played in Omaha history. Whether youre attending a party or just taking a tour, you will NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! Please. Everyone must go here!
You dont have to pay to walk around. Took my 3 yo daughter and she loved it!!! She felt like a princess!!! She called it her castle!!!
Did a photoshoot for Halloween. my wife and some friends went as the sisters from hocus pocus. the grounds have been very well kept and maintained. and it doesnt cost anything if you just want to drive up and take a look. the entrance is on the south side more towards the east end. with it being fall and the color change of the leaves some of the photos turned out amazing.
Beautiful place. One of the best spots in Omaha NE. We were not able to tour the place, I believe you have to call ahead, but the surrounding area was nice. I would encourage everyone to visit during the fall time and to call ahead.
Holy cow, what a beautiful building. The employees were wonderful. The castle was hosting a murder mystery party in honor of Nancy Drew, and it was a fabulous adventure! I cant wait to go back and enjoy more of these events.
I ADORE Joslyn Castle!! We went to the ‘Joslyn Unlocked’ night and had a magical time. Between the incredible cocktail hour to delicious dinner we fell in love every part of the castle. The tour guides were so funny and knew every inch of the historical building. You learn so much about Omaha and all that the Joslyns did for this city. Can’t wait to go back for their next event soon!!!
Joslyn Castle was closed. Outside was open and really beautiful with tons of trees and flowers.
Great your!
Great landmark in the city of Omaha. We enjoyed the tour and learning the history of the Joslyn Castle. Well worth the price of admission.
Very neat from the outside but haventbeen inside yet. Would love to tour someday when we get the chance.
Very friendly place to play with glass art. The the class we attended was very good and very engaging for self creativity. The glass fusion class was probably better suited for older children. Nonetheless, they still did a good job.Good environment and nice place. Worth the visit. Cost is reasonable too.
I love Joslyn Castle its one of my favorite places in the world. Ive visited 1000s of times; this time I didnt get out of my car and its been the best visit so far
I really appreciated the care that the people who conducted the tours had for the castle. Keith was very into telling us about the history of the building and the kinds of woods and features that it had. I was impressed by their loving care of the property and wanting it to be developed back to how it might have been in the time it was used as a home. I think it was a shame that a school district used it and made so many changes to such a beautiful structure.
Looks nice from the outside. Drove all the way here with some seniors in the group to find out the motor in the elevator broke so no inside access. As much as they are charging it seems they would have made a effort to get it fixed. At least its a cloudy day to sit outside with the worst of the wheelchair bound while the walkers get to go on the tour. Pretty flowers.
Very nice places
They close early, so better go in the morningGreat place, nice garden
Beautiful Historical site perfect for Classical Kids
Even if youre not a history buff, I recommend you sign up for a tour! The tours are affordable; $10/person. This tour takes you through not just the history of the castle but also the architectural meanings and concepts. The tour guide Sherri Moore was incredibly smart on everything. She had a mind like a steel trap! She knew everything about the house from construction to school district HQ to what it currently stands as. No question got pass her! The outside grounds are open to the public for free 24/7 and are very photogenic. The castle also offers its self as a venue for parties and weddings. I plan on getting wedding photos done here in the coming months and Ill update this review with my photoshoot experience
Fun Halloween masquerade :)
Beautuful visit. The society caring for it is giving it their all
This property is basically a park. Cool landscaping. A good place to walk your dog or hang out under a tree.
Beautiful and fun tour
It looks pretty from the outside. The hours leave much to be desired. While I didnt actually visit the inside (due to strange hours) Im not sure that the inside would warrant the admission fee.
Beautifull
This place is awesome. Go back in time in the life of the rich. That is quite the house. Very interesting!
Lesley, our tour guide, was great -very knowledgeable. We were so glad to fit this visit in. Interesting history and beautiful castle.
If you love history and old buildings, this is a place you need to check out! Beautiful grounds, beautiful preservation considering its history. Was wonderful to check out and learn about.
Amazing tour of beautiful home. I learned alot about the history from the very knowledgeable voulenteers.
Take a hard look at the architecture. Its beautiful. My one issue is the price.
Theres not much to do here if you dont go on the tour. Tours are the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month at 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm only. Tickets are $10 a person, which is a bit pricey but you get to walk around the entire house and the money goes towards preserving the property and such. The tour is really neat and you get a lot of information about the Joslyns and how the house was built. I would definitely recommend coming to see the house all decorated for Christmas because it is absolutely beautiful the way they have it decorated. Its a neat property and interesting to learn more about the local history.
This is a beautiful castle in Omaha, built by the same family that donated significant money to the Joslyn Art Museum. It is a work in progress with the historical preservation society working room by room to bring it back to its glory. Its in an older part of town that has seen better days, but the Castly itself is cool to tour. Ive been to the Castle on several occasions with school groups and enjoyed everything I learned about the history of the Castle.
Joslyn Castle has an interesting history and rich architecture to enjoy!
Did the unlocked tour and dinner. excellent evening. I would encourage tour guides to share notes so the redundancy of information is less.
It is so nice and beautiful to see history
Very nice tour. Would like to have seen a little more furniture but it was elegant
Joslyn yoga and kids event was awesome. Even in the rain. I gave it 4 stars because I was not able to hear the yoga teacher the entire time to know what to do.
Its very beautiful and serene a great place for venues pets children. A peaceful and happy place
Lovely historic building. Great architecture.
We got lucky and visited spur of the moment and found out we were just in time for a tour. They only offer them a few times a month on Sundays so plan ahead. The history was neat and the docents were very friendly.
I only got to visit the outside did not have money to go on the tour but the grounds were well kept it look like a great place I would definitely visit
Loved the tour. The guides are very knowledgeable and answer questions.
Very interesting history on the Joslyns, the castle is beautiful, woodwork is exquisite, and the grounds/garden are superbly maintained.
AMAZING place! We went to Tales of Poe here in October, and it was fantastic. So much to look at, and a great Halloween experience!
One of the best places to visit to learn some Omaha history. Very interesting and worth the time.
We arrived for our tour at 1:45 pm on Monday June 17th, according to the website, extra tours were being offered during the College World Series. However, the website had the wrong date listed! We were from out of town and the woman greeting us said we were mistaken and too late. Reluctantly & after some delay, she went to find Keith. This was our lucky day after all. Keith went out of his way, to give our group of 7 a wonderful informative tour! Keith was very accommodating, knowledgeable and very pleasant. So a special thank you to Keith, awesome job!
Pretty, peacefully grounds
The castle is spectacular. What a beautiful home!
Classic piece of Omahas hidden history. Great venue for special events.
This is such a beautiful place to visit. The history is so interesting and the tour guides know so much about the Joslyn Family. It was such a great experience for me to learn about my distant ancestors!
We loved out tour and are hoping to have our wedding there.
It was awesome to see, and walk around the grounds, great for our road trip picture collection.
I’d like to have seen Clearer available times. The way I read the schedule, was it’s open to the public, however guided tours were on certain times on certain days. I get there to see people in the building but a locked door below. From the outside, it looks amazing, probably one see the inside now.
Tour was interesting and educational. This is a must-see for anyone into Omaha history or architecture.
My mom and sisters came into town and we had such a great time touring the castle and learning about the Joslyn family.
Would love to see more. Missed the tour and could not see much.
Interesting tour. Tour guide obviously has a passion for her job and made it fun. Wish I could have seen the basement just to imagine what the man cave would have looked like.
