Great spot to see some unique items and talk to artists as they create. We stopped in here as part of the Nebraska Passport program and Im so glad we went in. They were blowing glass when we walked in which was pretty cool. We wandered through the building seeing the various types of art work and we spoke to several of the artists as they were working. Not all of the shops were open which was kind of a drag but overall this is a really cool place to stop if youre in the area.

I love the Hot Shops. Such creativity and inspiration can be found there. The open house events on the last weekend in April and first weekend of December are not to be missed as every Artist has their studios open and art work for sale. But the building is open 10-4 everyday and the anchor studios on the main floor always have something happening.

More than just a gallery or two of finished art, this place is a hive of activity of working artists creating in real time. With more than fifty studios hosting 80 or so artists, you might be able to watch painting, violin making, glass blowing, sculpting, quilt making, pottery throwing, or jewelry making during your visit. And its free.

Great place for Photographers to ultilize their Camera and Lighting, back ground usage for their Models and studio room choices for a closed off setting. The Glass Making Room is interesting and colors & Images of ArtWks and Artists Sculptures, Photographers Photos of previous &/or current Models are scattered throughout 3rd floor.

Nice for the local yokels. If Etsy were an actual place it would be the Hot Shops. If you see decent art here I can guarantee the artist isn’t local. “Craft center” would be a more accurate description.

On Sunday, December 2nd, I attendedHot Shops Holiday Festival. Got to visitwith visual Artist Paula Wallace. Shesa delight, and is also from my home area,Shelby County, Iowa. I purchased her annualcalendar; my favorite month was January, featuring a pretty watercolor nut hatch, which she signed for me.Next stop, the gallery space of artistCaroline Schmitz, also from my homearea. I found a small flaming chalice, which just happens to be the symbol ofmy denomination, the Unitarian UniversalistAssociation. It was a ceramic chalice, containing pretty stones and a candle;just what Ive been wanting to get. It wasaffordable, too. My afternoon was fun, fulfilling, and a success !!
