The settings are quite romantic and truly represent the Atlantic ocean with its high tides. The pier itself is nothing special, but it has a few restaurants. You can enjoy the very coveted pier fries and poutine. The fries are alright, but if you are from Quebec, the poutine is different (to put it mildly). Next to the pier, there is a small carnaval with attractions (closed at the moment due to Covid-19) and arcades. Overall, its a good destination to bring your significant other and kids. There is something to enjoy for everyone.
Fun place. A lot of entertainment. Shops a little boardwalk amusement park. An arcade and places to just grab a drink. There are a lot more things there. Too much to talk about in this little review. My only issue was that no one was wearing masks and no social distancing. I felt like this was going to be a covid hot spot soon. Under other circumstances this would be a great place to hang out.
We came in near the winter where there werent many people and due to covid, most places were closed. But the view was amazing and we were able to get some beautiful pictures!
Great, fun place to take your family or go on a date. Lots to do, eat and see. Great place to swim. Place to rinse off after. Even have .99 hot dogs or more expensive food. Lots of fresh seafood.
Love coming to the pair. Great drinks and music. Just enjoy a beautiful day with friends. Try not to let the little things get you down. Enjoy the life each day..Be well..
Cute, quaint. Little dirty. But during covid, dead. Cant access the pier and much is closed. Nice shoreline to walk. Not many shops open.
Great beach. Early morning is the best time for the sunrise pictures. Tons of places to grab some great food.
The pier is busy and the shops are gifty and also unique. Lots of restaurants we did not dine at. Its a unique set up of shops and food on an actual pier. The penny press was broken and the change machine next to it ate our $ bills so be aware. The replica of the pier inside of it is great. The shops leading up to the pier and the fair style food, including famous pier fries, were fantastic!
Coming here for years meeting my Quebec friends.. this year was just okay, bad State politics controlling the restaurants is not a good thing, I feel sorry for all the entrepreneurs in the food industry, bad regional advertising hurting small businesses for what turned out to be a bad flu year! The next day I found a supermarket and decided I can boil my own lobsters for my date and I, and a new couple we met.. actually Im going back this weekend because its dry and Indian summer like weather and the foliage is just exceptional!!!
Fun lively atmosphere, crowded beaches, lots of little shops and lots of people. Great for people watching!
Old Orchard Beach is a fun place to visit. Im not sure what other reviews are talking about but the town is clean, requires mask and does its best to have social distancing. Cant punish the town because INDIVIDUALS leave their mess everywhere or dont wear masks. I recommend Old Orchard Beach for: the fun arcade and rides (but before Labor Day weekend because thats when the rides close up for the season), the ample gift shops, the clean beach, the cool pier, and the pretty public center with the fountain.
We love coming here! There is plenty to do and plenty of room for everyone to enjoy a piece of Earth. The beach is pretty clean they do a really good job maintaining all the ground. The pier is FULL of fun little stores and experiences. Everyone is really nice and of course everyone is trying to get you to buy or try something but its certainly worth the experience!
Wonderful any time of the year, honestly. The ocean will never let you down, nor the pier. Catch the sunrise for social media likes and loves and memories for a lifetime.
We came here for dinner after we got rained off the beach. When we walked in the 3 girls behind the counter right next to the door just ignored us until someone sitting at the bar told us to sit anywhere. We ordered calamari as an appetizer and for $14 we got the tiniest amount of some sort of fried seafood Ive ever seen. Ive had calamari often and what they served us was NOT calamari. I assume it was clam strips but the waitress assured us we got what we ordered. She came back a few minutes later with a few sauces for the fake calamari and at that point we had had enough and decided not to waste anymore money. The picture I posted with this review shows the tiny cardboard box our food came in. An absolute joke. Dont waste your time or money at this place, theres a ton of places nearby that have the same food for half the price, and give you appropriate portions for your money.
Some places only take cash, some only take card. Foot traffic and cars is tight. Element of people and some eateries are less than desirable. The boardwalk could really use a face lift.Great local motels in the area.
I just walked the ocean at sunset. A beautiful spot and great way to end a relaxing day
Beautiful beach and a fun town. Lots of stuff to do around. Lot of options for shopping and eating.
Fun place to walk shop eat and has amusement rides. Coaster and pirate ship are fun
Hooligans landing. the first joint on the left. no price on drinks menu. i asked the server how much was the scotch. she told me 8.50. my tab came in they charged me $11.00. be careful and make em sign the agreed price.
Was awesome!!!! Usually there are so many people on the beach you have a hard time finding a spot...and a parking place etc. None of the shops were packed so it was easy 2 shop also. Masks were required for the boardwalk and shops but that was fine. Great music coming out of Ocean 6.
Its a basic beer and liquor slinging place. kind of dirty and shady, lots of weed smoke, I dont mind some but it was a lot. lots of shady characters hanging in shady corners. bartender I dealt with was amazing. he was super cool.
Great place to visit. Get ur beach time in and enjoy shopping and great food.
The beach its self is nice love the boardwalk great restaurants to eat and have a drink at but the water was ice cold and brown more like a swamp then a beach
Its a beautiful sandy beach, that has easier parking than Hampton Beach in NH!! Always a great breeze to keep you cool. Right now the water is a perfect temperature!!!
It was a nice little group of shops with a restaurant at the end. I found some nice things. My daughter and her boyfriend had their picture drawn. And shes going back for a Hanna tattoo. Ill be going back again 10☆s
Great family beach area with all you need nearby. Amusement rides and local shopping and great food everywhere.
My first time here. I absolutely love it. Beaches are clean. Water is warm. Not alot of big crowds. But.. masking up saves lives. My happy place. Thank you Maine!!
Food was good but a bit pricey. It was a fun outdoor experience.
It was an amazing getaway spot! The sand is soft and riding the waves is so fun! Also a lot of stuff to do around town and theres a lot of people, which is a definite plus for a beach !
The beach released all the stress of so a long quarantined life... A gush of fresh air, calm and soothing waves of Atlantic... And the warmth of the sunshine... Just refreshed the mood... A must go for all the beach lovers
To the young girls laughing at everyone and taking videos..... get a better hobby!! To many people around to feel safe with covid. 1 out of every 100 people wearing masks
The Pier...if you are from Maine ;there is no need for further remarks..if your from away, coming for a visit;you need to visit this landmark located on the beach : OOB,Maine.Beautiful sunrises /Sunsets ;Any given Summer night spent dancing/eating, or enjoying a cocktail at an establishment located on top this pier...will surely be a memory you make, to keep for your lifetime .Something about the smell in the air about Old Orchard Beach...Summer-swept sea salt, the warmth of sand, or the cool sea spray that the sea breeze sweeps across your face, are never irritating;Never...
My husband and I are from Boston MA and decided to take a drive here. This beach is definitely the most beautiful beach I’ve seen. The water was so blue, even the sand was beautiful lol I really loved the vibe of the area. Looking forward to coming here again. Definitely worth the drive!
Love OOB! Parking can be challenging. Great shops and restaurants. Good vibe, and fun for kids. We booked parasailing there.
Had a great time with some friends. Actually got in the ocean for the 1st time since I was 12 cause of fear!! Fear faced!!! Thank you girls for a great time!!
Quick stop at this beach today but the sand felt great! Walked barefoot the whole time. Water was quite chilly but it is the beginning of June. An amusement park next door and looks like lots of shopping and food.
Lobster tasted like it sat in warm water all day. Generally felt dirty n sticky. Beer was cold tho. I used the bathroom on the way out n it was disgusting. If i had used it on the way in i would not have stayed.
TOO DARN EXPENSIVE WHEREVER U WENT!! & BECAUSE OF COVID19 ALL THE AMUSEMENTS WERE CLOSED!!! HOWEVER; IT WAS A NICE DAY & THE BEACH WAS CROWDED!!
Nov 10th at 9pm and it was 55 degrees! Beautiful clear starry night!
Always brings back memories!
Beautiful ...ate dinner at Steak place on The Pier and it was as well
It was your typical East coast pier with tourist shops and restaurants on it. An interesting place to visit and spend an hour.
Always a fun and relaxing area to visit! I go up every Fathers Day weekend and walk the sandy beach, people watch and grab some food by the pier. Sunrises are well worth getting up early for.
Loved it!! Would have given it 5 stars but dogs are not allowed from 10am- 3 am.
The beauty of the beach and diversity is par none. Great way to relax and see the oceans serenity.
Its an amazing place to visit...
Most of the rides are closed. Shops are open. Very crowded. There are parking meters 2 dollars per hour max 4 hrs, but your lucky if you get one. Various places to park ranging from 8 dollars to 20 dollars again you have to find them so you have to drive around. Wasnt overly impressed with the area.
Its really nice and theres a lot of things to do. Theres a place were you can get hoodies for $10 and they are good quality. The only downside is that some places close early and if you are there later a night like at 10 its not appropriate for kids under 10
Great view. Second half of September so many businesses were closed including the restrooms.
Lots of snacks and goodies, mostly tourist traps thoughThe beach kind of smelledIm sure there are better places to go, but its worth a visit if youre nearby
We stopped here to eat a snack on out way up to Portland. Most places were closed as it is October but it was peaceful and a beautiful view!
An breathtaking sight, a beach with clean and wide sand bank. The glittering from the sand was truly astonishing.
Great beach experience. cheap parking close to the water . The amusement side is closed but the shops and food places are open. Great seafood on the pier and rum buckets! Great time for adults and kids.
The beach. That is all that needs to be said. Beautiful and relaxing.
This place is foul. No masks. No social distancing. Everyone was packed together like everything is normal. We left almost immediately after parking. If you want to get COVID, come here.
Fun place to visit! Spend the day at the beach then head over for some food, drinks, souvenirs, and dancing. So much to do and so many cute shops for anything you need! Dont forget to go to Pier Fries, the best poutine around!! The picture shows pizza, not from the same place.
Always a great place to visit. Love the ocean and its power
This beach was really nice, pretty clean, and had clear warer. For a family of 5, who is trying to be COVID cautious, it was too crowded. If I had gone here when I was 25 it would have been great! Parking was tricky too, you do have to pay for it, but then the beach access from the boardwalk is free so there is that trade off. Probably dont need to ding the beach to 3 stars because of parking and crowds during a pandemic, but the 3 seems spot on.
We had a great time its an amazing beach.
Whether its a destination or just a pitstop on a roadtrip Old Orchard beach always delivers fun vibes while soaking in the sun, sand and sea. There are tons of good eats and shops to peruse while you stroll the streets and boardwalk. I always leave there wanting more which keeps us coming back year after year.
Iconic pier to visit when in OOB! A bite honky tonk but a fun place to stroll.
The Old Orchard Beach pier is cute and all, but they need to not nickel-and-dime for their bathrooms. Bathrooms are always supposed to be free.
The beach was beautiful, the pier was terrible. I recommend the beach. But will not visit the pier again
Pretty nice for the only pier near by. Several of the shops werent open yet, but pretty decent variety available. Not to crowded (yet)
It was a nice September day. Pizza was good at Bills and pier fries!
The Pier is exactly as you remember it. So many people and the majority pleasant. Like our social distancing walk along the ocean and always the French fries. Didnt do much with the crowds, but everyone was respectful of space.
Post season and Covid have 80% closed status but a beautiful location nonetheless.
Best beach to visit to enjoy nature and beauty and take a swim that still is free with no cover charge, unlike the Jersey shore where you have to pay
Beautiful! Easy to social distance as long as you leave before dark. Tip for others: free curbside handicap parking just feet from the beach path.
Fun, no frills spot to hang out, soak up some sun, grab a quick bite and some drinks and just have a good time.
So pretty and unique. Best beach area in ME.
Looking for a slice of heaven? Here it is
Doorman at Hooligans was extremely rude and disrespectful. Turned away for no reason except having a backpack. So after taking the bag to the car we came back and were told they were now full. Immediately after 4 people walked out then he decided the reason we couldnt come in now was because my wife was rude to him. We were treated with total disrespect and werent even intoxicated in the slightest. Right now this country needs more positivity and less of people treating each other like that.
The pier is at the end of a busy Street full of restaurants, shops and entertainment. Its visually very interesting and definitely worth the stop.
Been going there since 1960 Im 61 now . Love the beach and atmosphere of the bars and people are great. If u have a chance hit Bentleys in Arundel 7 miles South.
Unable to give a fair assessment. This is a covid19 review. Most places were closed, those that werent seemed dirty and not well staffed. Masks seemed to be optional as some venders were wearing masks others wearing nothing. I wouldnt go back during this pandemic.
The shops are nice to look for souvenirs and keepsakes or gifts. Food is good. Nice view of the beach and the ocean.
Hooligans is amazing! Steak tips were very flavorful and the steak bomb grinder was great!
Definitely needs some upkeep and the woman with the toe ring shop would do better if she was dropping the f bomb while families are walking through. Wasnt impressed as I had hoped. The view was nice that was about it
Always a great place for food and fun enjoy the ocean air
It was nice to see things opening up again. things are nice not crowded. Every other table is x marked for distance.
Beautiful and quiet in early October! Perfect evening walk!
We spent an overnite at Old Orchard. We found it to be much better than Hampton. Cleaner, and more to do (even though the rides are shut down right now due to covid). We actively saw staff sanitizing in the arcade and people were all wearing masks so it seemed safer too. We cant wait to return. We stayed about less than a mile walk from the pier. The sidewalks were safe to walk. The beach in front of our motel was not packed so it was more relaxing.
I love this beach and pier. Have visited multiple times per year for over a decade. Beautiful scene year round, and so fun to swim in summer!
Everyone need to go to the pier on OOB! Great place & fun little NE town.
The place is good but Water is very cold. Very expensive to stay with litte kids. Fast food over priced and very thing cost money, even when you go to the bathroom they charge 50cent.
Lots of good. Not a lot of people. Weather was great! Will definitely be going back soon.
Beautiful clean beach. Plenty to do for everyone. Police do patrol which helps for security purposes. Very nice summer spot. Parking everywhere that isnt too far from the beach less than 5 minutes.
Clean beach with police presence that helps you feel secure.Friendly parking attendants.Yummy pier food.Beautiful ocean.Crowded.
Great wave action this past weekend...my son was in paradise!
Covid precautions exhibited by staff and enjoyed my meal.
Love the beach. Kids had a great time then hit the amusement park.
Like a little piece of heaven. So relaxing and great people, beautiful
Who doesnt love OOB?!
Stopped here while traveling through the state and found this was a pretty cool area to see. Only thing I did not like is paying to use the restroom! The concession stands were a little pricey I would think the pier could afford to let customers use the bathrooms for free. The little beach side amusement park nearby was a cool addition. Definitely would recommend stopping by.
Because the ocean brings me to a clear vision of reality life on lifes terms
Wonderful place to walk and savor a beach walk!
