It was nice to go to a place where its usually impossible to find parking or you have to wait in line to play games. I understand why the rides were not open. There is a huge problem with businesses not opening on time and not having updated COVID hours. We walked around for over a half an hour trying to find food that wasnt pizza.
For being during a pandemic and only had 4 rides open it was still a great time. Staff were super friendly and the arcade is nice with a great variety of games to play! We only rode 2 of the 4 rides that were open but spent about 2 hours there this afternoon.
Parking is almost impossible to find during tourist season, but other than that it is fine, wish there was more to do and prices were just slightly lower though.
This was by far the best arcade i have been to in maine in a long time. The selection of games and price per game is amazing! The staff is very friendly and helpful. During this covid time i saw staff wiping down machines regualrly. I fully intend to come back next time i am in the area.
This is partially open, which was great for social distancing. Their rollercoaster, The Sea Viper was open and we waited maybe 5 minutes to ride, awesome time!
Loved it. Visited after Columbus Day.
Right on the pier! Beautiful place. Clean and friendly service at all the shops while practicing safe social distance
Lots of fun. The rides are things you would see set up at a fair, but theyre fun. A water ride, a roller coaster, swing ride bumper cars and pirate ship, to name a few. There are a couple of places to buy food, and the closest bathroom is outside the park and costs 50 cents for adults, but free for children under 12. First time Ive ever needed to pay to go to the bathroom..
Typical run of the mill like carnival rides. Seems safe. Very expensive though. If youre on a budget you might wanna opt out.
A run down old time place reminiscent of the 60s and 70s
The coaster was good but there’s nothing really to this place.
Sucked . I liked the feeling of the quarters not these stupid catds
I have been coming here my entire life (24 years). As a kid, this is what I looked forward to each and every summer. Family tradition was born here. Each year isnt complete unless I have ridden the cat on the merry-go-round. Prices are decent compared to most amusement parks, but I do wish they had more options. This is certainly geared towards children and those seeking less thrilling/dangerous rides, but can certainly be fun for adults too. They seemed to have a large period of growth a decade ago where new rides were being added and removed often (space is a -huge- limiting factor), that seems to have slowed. Bathrooms are okay and free here (one of the few on the beach that is). Most of the games are your classic crapshoot of tipped odds, but the people who operate them and the rides are not by any means unsavory. In fact, most are here from other countries and have intriguing stories and are very kind. As a child, I befriended the daughter of one worker from Ukraine and we swapped stories and her father let us ride the Flume ride over and over again since it was a slow afternoon. :)
Water was flowing great. Water was very brown. Unfortunately, the bridge to cross over was washed out.
The park stayed open even in the haze and light rain, because there was enough business to make it worth entertaining the families, like mine, that were looking for something to do on a weekend where most had probably hoped to be in the water but the weather had other plans. This means a lot to me, because we traveled from 2 hours away, for a fun family weekend trip and were bummed when the weather turned sour unexpectedly. Im glad we still had something fun around to do with my busy 3 year old.
Open seems like a good time to try them out bc so few people and no lines
Great atmosphere! Even helped win a unicorn for a little boy he couldnt get which made his day and mine! Lots of games and fun for all ages!
A staple of the OOB waterfront.
Palace Playland, nice place, lots of fun lots of things to see and do.
Wonderful day! Its a bit pricey for the tickets, but its still worth the money. Many rides very sensational and big enough. In the iconic rides: The Ferris wheel, A large 15-meter roller coaster and the pirate ship. There is also a carousel that you sit in a small raft and you go down 2 water slides high enough .. In short, to advise!
A pier, lots of restaurants, stores, and even a small amusement park right on the beach. Great time for just about anyone. A bit pricey but where else can you get all this on a beach near here?
It’s a fun time amusement park - get the friends together and have a little fun!
Not impressed, waited all day for the mid way to open only to have nothing but the ferris wheel which cost almost$40 for six to go on it once. Waste of a day off it isnt really open.
Rides are expensive, it is a little crazy, and nothing more than a carnival. I dont know why, but I expected something more from it. Parking is an absolute mess around the area. It was a fine way to spend an evening with my kids, but I dont think I need to go back.
Fun little beachside amusement park. Mostly basic county fair type rides plus a coaster for around $5 each.
Where can you go to an amusement park on the beach in New England? Not a modern day amusement park with super coasters and reality rides. But has all the fun rides that adults and kids enjoy. Reasonably priced.
Couldnt find parking.. ended up turning around and leaving
Cool place for kids
Fun little park. Most rides better suited for kids than adult couples. Arcade had quite a few machines out of order. 50 cents to use bathroom across the street. Log flume was my favorite.
So nice for the kids and adults also lots of shops food amazing summer nights
Simply because the kids love it, if youre staying for a week or two its well worth getting a season pass! The kids can have a great time all week or the whole two weeks!!! Well worth the price of there smiles.
My son has owned a business in Old Orchard Beach for 24 years. Great place to spend time with the family. Check out Old Orchard Beach, Palace Playland.
This place would be a four or five star place, but there is no organization to anything. The ride operators would let my young child on with my older one who is 54 and very responsible one time but not the next time. Some operators gave us issues but not others, the management said it was fine but I did not feel like getting a manager every other ride to let them on. So now I am here for a second time because I bought the two day pass before I knew how the park worked, and my little one is going to leave disappointed again because she cant ride the tilt a whirl. With better operators this would be a great place.
Family fun you have miles of beautiful beaches and a great amusement park!
Only best thing its on the beach COVID-19 has the park closed right now
To start, let me say that I am reviewing the arcade only. Ive been coming to Palace Playland for my whole life, so it only made sense that I bring my favorite 5 year old here, as well. I was wrong. We went armed with pockets full of quarters and began our quest for tickets. The first game we tried didnt offer credit even after we put in a dollars worth of quarters! We had to hunt someone down to help. We successfully played the next game, then 3 more games in a row didnt work at all and there was my 5 year old- frustrated, sad, and tired of waiting for someone to help us. They refused to give us our money back for the games that didnt work despite the fact that we got nothing for our money. While they offered a credit on one of the games, if they fixed it, they couldnt fix the broken carousel that our money was stuck in or even offer an apology. Staff was apathetic at best, Id give it 0 stars if I could. What a total waste of time and money, I highly recommend skipping any kind of trip here unless its to use the free bathrooms.
Kids had so much fun here. Very relaxed environment. The tickets were tough to figure out (how many to buy, etc). Nice arcade... went here as a kid and its kept up with the times.
The kids love a visit to the arcade and carnival games on a cloudy summer day. I think they updated and had more arcade games than I remember. Fun for all and dont forget Lisas french fries they are delicious!
Had so much fun at this arcade made me feel like a kid again. My honey was celebrating her 40 birthday. Really is a place that’s fun for ALL ages
It sure aint no Six Flags or Canobie Lake Park or anything along those lines s*** it aint even know Funtown and not to mention the price horrible $36 for 20 something tickets how is that Fair not impressed with them when theyre walked around thats the only thing oob is good for is walking around shopping and going to the beach Palace Playland sucks I Give It 2 thumbs down
Good, relatively small, old-timey amusement park located in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Several kid-oriented rides and enough more thrilling ones to keep the adults interested. The only things missing are a Haunted House and a Tunnel of Love.
Fun fun fun for the whole family! Best arcade and the food stands are amazing! No wonder theyve been serving fresh food for decades! Very reasonable prices and different choices.
A great place to go while staying in OOB for a fun day with the family. Extremely clean, rides are well maintained, and are reasonably priced. Just make sure if youre going with kids to get them wristbands for unlimited rides, otherwise youll end up spending a lot more than anticipated.
Very nice seaside amusement park and while you wont find the big thrills like the larger parks, its easy to get to and worth a few good hours.
Nice place. Pretty clean and they have staff there to make sure the games and machines are actually working instead of just stealing your money. The only complaint is how much the games cost, especially when comparing the age of the games.
Great place! The kids have so much fun every time. Lots to keep you busy.
Palace Playland is a very fun boardwalk park located on none other than Old Orchard Beach! Lots of rides that everyone can enjoy! Sea Viper is a very fun roller coaster as well! Rides are cheap, food is good, and staff are nice! Highly recommended park!
We came for our 2nd anniversary. It was closed. Still a great spot for a adventure. We ate at the Pier and ordered some drinks.
A little run down but good old fashioned fun. Lots of places to eat, right next to the beach, old arcade with skee ball and claw games. There are rides for kids and older kids behind the arcade area like bumper cars and a ferris wheel and swings. Kinda harkens back to an old time but we always go during the day because the night time crowd is a different story.
Been coming here since I was a little kid. And now Im bringing my own kids. Good selection of rides. Lots of food places, big arcade, TONS of gift shops. Only downside is everything is sooo expensive. But I guess it comes with the territory.
It’s so much fun! Great memories and an amazing time with my friends. However, the prices are high and you get only a little bit of fun for quite a lot of money. It’s cheaper if you buy the tickets in bulk. Don’t forget to enjoy your time!
Great place to take kids. Would give a 5 star but prices for rides are crazy. Surrounded by great food, great beach, great views of the ocean.
Great place to visit much to do and see
Hadnt been to an amusement park in awhile, walked in with some doubts if this would impress, but those doubts cleared. The adrenaline was the first ride we got on and it was exhilarating! Seaviper is a good introduction coaster for those who havent been on one in years. Will be going back!
Not enough staff! Its a sunny and gorgeous Sunday, and we are waiting to go on rides because one person is in charge of 2 rides. Unacceptable. They charge enough for tickets that they should be able to staff all rides!
This is a great little place for young kids. Great location, prices, I cant find anything wrong with it. Its no 6 flags or Canobie but imagine a scaled down version of a carnival. We are going back this year, looking forward to it!
Rides were great, but i remember having my restraints checked maybe once - on the riptide ride. my restraints were never checked on the sea viper, wipeout, and adrenaline. of course i never ended up injured, but.. come on.
This is one of my favorite places to go in the summer. It may not be the biggest park, but it is right on the beach and has some great rides. The food is what you would expect from a park, which in my mind is one of the reasons for going on a nice day. Make sure to pack extra sunscreen and a significant amount of money for parking though, as its going to be a long trek for free parking.
Still the same as it was 40 years ago, but with new rides! Its a true time machine back to the days of family and face to face times!
Typical beach carnival feel. Staff look like college kids so they likely pass background checks. Lol.
I have many great memories of growing up in Maine and going to Old Orchard with family members and friends. I moved away but returned recently and brought my young daughter to enjoy the day just like I use to at her age. This is an iconic amusement park and lots of fun to spend time here.
Fun spot for the kids. Bought wristbands for the kids to enjoy the rides. 15 minutes in the sky opened up and that was it. No refunds!
Its OOB Maine! The beach, the pier, the food, the games and rides what else is there to say?! Its the perfect place for summer fun! Alone, a couple, a group of friends, your bff, your family... The experience... Oh yeah I almost forgot!! - FIREWORKS!
I love this place so much! One suggestion I have is if a child is a age 4 and under or something like that, they should only need to pay two tickets instead of four to get on the Ferris wheel, also the wipeout is a fun ride but you only go around 4 and a half times for 4 tickets. Not complaining but maby for that amount of tickets you should have 7 times around or like 2 minutes.
We love going every summer with our kids. Its nice that its right on the beach. Plus theres great food down at the beach and lots of other stuff going on all the time.
The new sea viper rollercoaster is awesome. The rest of the place is the same but its a must go. Gotta love the Palace Playland
Very clean fast waiting lines friendly staff but.... Costs 50 cents to use the restroom
Great Arcade right on the beach!
It was an okay time but most of the rides werent working and the games are expensive.
Love taking kids and grandkids. A good amount of amusement rides in a small area surrounded by food places, adult beverage places and all in walking distance. Thursday nights at 9:45 fireworks July-August
Very fun I love the old style machines from big
It was beautiful
Great fun for the kids.Best fries= Pier FriesBest pizza= Bills Greek SliceBest Watering hole= The Brunswick
Its better than it used to be back in the 1980s but its still dirty and people smoke everywhere. Old Orchard has the nicest stretch of beach in the sate but its too filthy to enjoy.
Barely any rides open at all
A fun beach boardwalk! I enjoyed Sea Viper and many of their other rides.
Always a fun family trip, it never gets old.
Interesting. Love the log flume.
Good arcade and games. Great views from the ferris wheel. Small but fun!
So fun
Family Fun place. Good food.resonanible price
Lots of the games are broken. Over crowded. Staff is young and underpaid. Junk prizes. The kid loves it. Sometimes the broken machines just give you the jackpot.
Nice place but way too crowded for me
Coming here is a yearly ritual with all me nieces & nephew & they love it. They know where everything is & can go off on there own & have the time of their lives.
Lots of rides for all ages. Many different options for food from Chinese to Mexican and a huge variety of carnival food. Lots of games and an arcade. You can buy an all day pass or individual tickets.
Best place for kids and adults. Lots to do and fun to be had by all.
Family fun every year we go!
Over priced, but a decent little fair. Some of the French canadians that work there are rude though. A female employee, screamed at my 9 year old daughter, because she slide back on the log ride (due to the momentum of the ride). If you continue to slide back you wont be able to ride on this anymore! But when I went to confront her as to why she screamed at her like that, instead of just talked in a normal tone and said it politely, she proceeded to act like she didnt speak english. Had a male worker there, suddenly turn and graze my nieces hair wheel we where walking by in a strange way, that caught my brother in laws and my attention. When we said, hey you dont touch someone elses kid like that. That was inappropriate, he also pretended not to speak English. Tried to find some sort of management to speak to, but good luck. Seems to be no older adults around. Seems to be run by upper teen to very young adults.
Great beach. Small town atmosphere.
