An incredible hike all the way to the top of Mt Ogden, great views of the valley along the way and a 360 degree view at the summit. This hike is not for the faint of heart. If you plan to summit, it will be 5-6 hour round trip of strenuous hiking for the average hiker. Would recommend starting early in the day to beat the heat and sun on the exposed parts of the trail. We did it in June. I would classify the trail into three distinct parts: The canyon, the brush, and the traverse. The canyon: this is where the trail begins and continues for 2-3 miles. Mostly shaded and not very strenuous, many flowers, ferns, etc plus a quiet stream by your side. The trail is narrow with overgrown foliage so Id recommend long pants. The Brush: this part is more exposed, taking you along the other side of the traverse near Burch creek. A quite strenuous 2-3 miles. The brush has overgrown on the trail and is pokey, again would recommend long pants. Trail is at times hard to find, but go with your gut and youll go the right way. Watch out for snakesThe traverse: eventually you will come out of the canyon onto the traverse and this is where the views begin. Basically a straight shot to the summit, another 2-3 miles very exposed. The trail is obvious and you will see a glimpse of your final destination. The final accent to the helicopter pad is tough but definitely worth it.Beus Canyon is a challenging alternative to the snow basin route, but definitely more beautiful and satisfying.
Great trail, loved the fall colors and walking along the stream. The trail became pretty unkept getting up high, about a mile and a half from the peak. There were quite a few scrambles and we eventually gave out. I wouldnt recommend the whole thing to more novice day hikers. Would have loved a trash can at the trailhead for dog bombs.
A bit of a longer trail compared to others in the area, but its an awesome hike. Even with a full parking lot youll still be able to find some peace and quiet on the mountain unless you take the fork towards the Bonneville shoreline hike. During spring there are many flowers and ferns growing on both sides of the path and it winds next to a small river flowing down the mountain.
If you love the mountains then youll love this place. Plus its in Ogden folks.
Great hiking spot.
Love walking/ hiking/ running these trails
I love Beus Canyon! Get up and out on this one- away from the noise of town. Watch for rattlesnakes though!!! I always run into a few!
I ride this trail multiple times a year. Its fairly exposed so make sure to bring hydration. The views are good and the trails are nice.
Fantastic not well known trail, fern valley in the spring is especially cool.
One of our families favorite places to hike. Good shade on the first part of the trail, and a fun stream for kids and dogs to play in.
Best place for fall colors.
Beautiful views. Nice trail
This is a great hike. Left from here to get to the top of Mt. Ogden and this was one of the best parts of the overall hike. The tree coverage was nice and some very cool spots near the creek.
Rich thick foliage for the first 2 miles or so provide good shade in summer, and a stream means there is water for dogs. If you keep going, it will take you all the way to the top of Mount Ogden where the views are spectacular
It was a great early afternoon hike. Also was able to spend some time by and in the streams, even though it was a bit chilly. Very beautiful and serene.
So breath takingly Beautiful!!!!
Lots of shade and water for a short summer dog hike. Connects to Bonneville Shoreline Trail for longer hikes.
There is a pokegym and a couple parking spots. I hear the trail is pretty good. I have not tried it yet.
Its the best when theres barely any people there
Fun trail to explore. It gets pretty rocky in some places.
Great place!
Fun trail leads to mt Ogden pass its decently steep and follows a creek most of the way
Great Hike
Always a painfully wonderful exercising experience.
Its unbelievable that its 2018 and there still is no potty here. I am going to call OTN and the city and at least get them to put a portapotty here. Its also completely pathetic the bathrooms at 29th st are only open from like memorial day to october. I and many others, use that trail 12 months a year. These trails have seen a 10 fold increase in foot/bike traffic since 2001 when I first hit them up so they need bathrooms at the 22nd and 36th st trail heads for sure. Id pitch in $.
Ok hike. They require you to pick up dog poop, but dont have any trash bins, even at the trailhead parking lot.
Cool park.
Great trail, well marked.
Great trailhead. Lots of flowing water...
Beautiful Beus Canyon Trail is a gateway to the Bonneville Shoreline Trail or to Mount Ogden.
So very beautiful.
Nice trail.
Strenuous hiking trail along a creek. Beware of rattlesnakes.
Beautiful trail
Love it
