This is a great community theater that needs your love! The popcorn was fresh, drinks ice cold, the staff was kind, the seats really comfy and productions weve watched were well done. I called to ask a few questions the day of watching their most recent show. I was told about an opening night Gala. So we hired our sitter (because understandably they dont allow children 3yrs and under (a policy I completely agree with)) early and once we arrived we found out they dont hold them on opening night anymore. So beware! Nearby are a handful of places to eat so we did that. Ziegfeld has a rundown old movie theater feel, the bathrooms, walls and floors need some love, but its clear theyre doing their best with what they have. Even with that feel, I completely support and love all the heart and soul theyre giving to each performance. There were moments of awe in the production value. It was an incredibly fun and reasonably priced way to spend the evening as a family! Note, that not all shows are family friendly but they do a good job of explaining that if you ask. We purchased day of show tickets both times weve been to this theater and there were still plenty of empty seats. So keep filling them yall. It was worth it!
I’ve seen two productions here so far, Oliver Twist and A Fairly Potter Christmas Carol. I was surprised by the high quality of the actors. Definitely enjoyed both and will go back again. The store next door is fun to kill time in too while waiting for your show to start.
This is hands down my favorite theater. I love the shows they put on as well as the community they have created. The popcorn is good and the workers are friendly. I love the people here and their annual Christmas show A Fairly Potter Christmas Carol is my all-time favorite musical.
Watched Rocky horror. Amazing. Loved every bit of it. Theater its self was great. Clean, perfect size. Entrance has lots of room. Parking was good to. Ill definitely be back
I love this quaint cute theater, there productions and actors are the best! Yes it is old and ran down. But it is an historical building. Many happy years in that building for me, Country club of old.
Best popcorn Ive ever tasted, for starters. The community is sooo welcoming and happy. The quality of performances is astounding, and the story of how Ziegfeld came to be just makes going there all that more magical!!! As having done a few performances there myself, I may be a little biased, but that shouldnt stop you from going!!! :D
Loved the atmosphere and the show! The cast was high energy, and the signing took it to another level. Cant wait to see more!
Went to the ASL production of Newsies last night. Not only was the show very well done but the ASL added a dimension of energy that I was not expecting. I don’t understand ASL but it didn’t matter. Fantastic performance. I highly recommend it.
I saw the Newsies play here. The tech production was decent, could have been better. Really cool that they were able to have the play in two languages. I just want to commemorate Dylan Brinkman’s acting. He’s going somewhere.
If yall like seeing the shows you should be in them. BEST PEOPLE AND PLACE EVER. Thats all I need to say.
We love going to the Ziegfeld Theater. Recently we went to Les Misérables done by high schools, which was the best high school play we have ever seen, and then we went to Newsies all done in American sign language, which was a very unique and fun experience. Everyone working at the theater loves their jobs and are passionate about supporting and improving the theater. Also the audience is always energetic and engaged making the night a great experience. The only complaint we have is that the theater is getting a little old. The seats are worse for wear and getting weak in the hinges causing the seat to rock and result in bad posture. Hopefully as support increases the theater will be updated for a better experience.
Newsies was a wonderful production! The playwright added ASL through the entire show. The cast was amazing! The only downside was a technical problem with the projector, setting the show back about 15-20 minutes.
Cute little theater. Good view from any seat. Sound is good aside from occasional mic issues. Theres also a comedy club upstairs that I want to go back to check out.
This is an amazing theater and exceeded my expectations. The prices are a little steep, but they make it worth it with really good props and effects. The one thing of concern was the mens bathroom. The urinal is directly next to the sink and there isnt a stall and so you wash your hands while bumping elbows with the guy peeing at the urinal. They should at least put in a stall.
Small town theater, not fancy or upscale, but the show was great and it had a great atmosphere. Show lineup for the next year was crazy impressive.
Fun night out. Theater is definitely an easy-going fun night out. Wether on a date or just looking to be entertained, they never disappoint.
This theatre is awesome. Its a wonderful contribution to the culture in Ogden. They put on great productions. I am blown away by the sets and lighting! Its a great benefit to have a community theatre like this.
Nice playhouse. Decent ticket price. Not thrilled with the performance, but I will probably give it another shot.
BEST PLACE EVERThats all I need to saw to get my point across
They were so talented and put on an amazing show! Will definitely recommend
Fantastic place!! We saw A Fairly Potter Christmas Caroland it was wonderful!! So much fun!! Well definitely be back!
The place is nice and clean and people are very. They have very good food.
Great theatre with tons of good shows. The part that gets me most excited about the Ziegfeld theater is that the shows the produce are done how the original writer wanted them to be. The don’t modify them to meet the “standards” of the community which you will see from other theaters. They are great and also have a great kids program. If you love theater you’ll love the Ziegfeld productions.
We saw Matilda, it was wonderfully acted. So very much fun! Big thanks to all the cast, everyone of them really put their hearts into it.
Saw Matilda. It was very nice. Choreography & singing was very good. Some of the lines were hard to understand because the kids spoke so fast, but well done.
The crew at the Zig are AMAZING! Any chance I get to come see them I am there!
This is a simple community stage that put o. Some really great shows. I just recently watched the Adams family, and the cast did a great job, the show was funny and well done.A word of caution on the popcorn though, hope you like salt. They do add a very excessive amount of salt. I enjoy theater popcorn, it is one of my favorite food groups, I could not eat more than a few hand fulls of the popcorn. That being said do not pass on a show here due to popcorn. The shows are very well done.
They only have one theater section, but it’s great. The popcorn and drinks were amazing. My biggest complaint is the tech computer area. It looks like a mess with cords everywhere. Also, the place is a bit dusty and dirty. Almost as if it needs a good cleaning.
Love that the theater used to be a movie theater, so they sell popcorn in concessions! We went on a night when they had deaf interpreters and a sing along-- actors had great interaction with audience. Wonderful performance, professional and the small theater made it feel intimate.
Awesome place! We had so much fun watching A Fairly Potter Christmas and were so grateful that they do student night! We would never have been able to watch a live play if it werent so. Thank you so much!
Great theater at affordable price. Great value
I believe that I reviewed the Ziegfeld Theatre a year ago when I visited there. I was visiting family in the Ogden Utah area and my sister took me to see a play as a Christmas gift. I enjoyed it very much the crowd was large and right next door to the theater is a place that you can stop for shakes and desserts and all different types of things prior to the play or after the play and thats what we did. It was an enjoyable experience in a nice Christmas gift.
So much fun!! The cast and crew really loved what they were doing
Super great! Improve is well put together!
The Ziegfeld Theater is a community theatre located in Ogden that produces eccentric productions. With infrequently done productions, diverse casts, and Park City runs, this theatre is a force to be reckoned with. Although mostly mediocre - they draw in crowds with their unique seasons and edgy shows. Talent varies by production, but is often recycled regulars that produce average quality entertainment. Overall decent quality (unique) productions.
Went to see a Chorus Line and it was awesome. The cast was spectacular and the lighting was spot on. A great time for sure!
Fabulous theater and productions! Ive loved every single show Ive seen. They never seem to disappoint. Prices are great as well as the cast. What a great theater to visit! Excited to go back!
Great actors and actresses. Fun place to go.
How can a public theater not have air conditioning in the peak of summer! Excellent shows yes, great production and cast members I don’t want to discredit the performers or production crew. But how can you have this happen and expect people to come in summer ? No air conditioning made it miserable to sit through two hour performance, albeit great performance I would not return ever again in the summertime.
I really enjoyed the theater and I really enjoyed the show.
Loved the musical we saw, but please fix the air conditioning! The actors were incredible and the music was great.
The cast was talented and funny. Staff was very friendly. I love that they have concessions. Theres an ice cream store next door too and they let you bring it in. I didnt know how mature the show would be when I brought my 10 year old. Other than the theatre being small and old, my only complaint is the language and innuendo. I do understand that everyone has a different level of sensitivity to that though. Overall a good experience.
Amazing fun show this eve. Bring a blanket it was chilly
Went to ASL Newsies it was awesome!!
So much talent!!!I just went to The School of Rock and it was incredible!!!There were times that the kid did some swearing so if that offends you beware. But these kids blew me away!!! They played interments, sang, danced and were great performers. The only negative thing I would say is the seats are small and very close together.
If i could i would give it 10 stars. The shows are AMAZING!!! My daughters love acting there and they even usher there sometimes.
There current production of singing in the rain is excellent! They usually do great shows and have fun actors!
The theater is a little run down and old but the performances here are awesome! I always leave with a smile. I highly recommend seeing a theatrical production here. They definitely make the most with what they’ve got!
The theater was freezing cold, no heat. Not too impressed with the play. Sorry.
Our granddaughter has participated in several plays at Ziegfeld. We are pleased that the youth have opportunities to develop their talents and have so much fun. Thanks to all who facilitate this.
Their plays are incredible. The facility is very old. It was a grocery store in the 1950s. I remember going there when I was a little girl. It desperately needs a make over, but they are a nonprofit organization, so they do not have the money to fix it up. However, they do a fantastic job with what they have to work with. I give 5+ score to their plays. Right now they are doing Thoroughly Modern Miley. Dont miss it. The singing is out of this world!Whoops, I wrote this review for the Terrace Theater. Ziegfeld Theater does a wonderful job as well. Their facility is nicer, but still old.
Amazing! Everyone is so kind, and the plays are fantastic! Rocky should be an every year thing!
I went to see the Adams Family Musical and it was amazing! The acting the fantastic, the theater was adorable, and the sets and decorations were awesome! I will totally come back for more musicals!
We really enjoyed the show
The show was good (chorus line) HOWEVER we were so uncomfortable with the heat we were all praying the show would end early. Get A/C and youd have a lot more season ticket holders.
My son and I and my two nieces along with my brother and sister-in-law had a wonderful time. I thought the crew did a great job with the Fairly Potter Christmas play. The building is much nicer than I remember it and they have pillows for the kids so that they can see better. We will be back.
Love the Zig! They put on fantastic plays and have a great youth program that is very family oriented vs competitive.
Went a nd saw Singing in the Rain it was fantastic. We had so much fun!
Loved it. Will be going again. Super friendly staff. Great production.
The Christmas show they put on was so funny and was a great spoof. Friendly staff and good beverages. The entire theater was filled.
I am 73 and my grandson is 15. We go to Ziegfeld Productions together and even with the age difference are always both delighted. The actors are first class, the cast well rehearsed, the shows delightful and the sound perfect. The seats are comfortable. What more could you possibly ask for at these more than reasonable prices? Loyal to Ziegfeld!
250 seat theater, none blocking stage.Very good performance.
DONT take your kids! No filter and its almost like they want it that way. No class whatsoever. Girls performing on stage and the crowd treats it like a strip club.
The building definitely needs some help, but Im giving them 5 stars because of the show. They are very talented and hardworking. Everyone was gracious and helpful, though they could streamline the service a little. We saw La Cage and even though I was familiar with the play I found myself lost in the performances. They do a great job, more people should visit this little theater gem Ill be back for sure.
We went to see Next to Normal here and on the way home listened to the actual Broadway version. There were voices onstage that equaled or rivaled the Broadway singers. Very well done. And acted well too. Not an easy play to pull off. Our expectations were exceeded.
Great Theatre. Shows are well done and the atmosphere is fun. Highly recomend checking it out!
My absolute favorite small town live theatre. They also have an amazing childrens theatre program.
If youre in the area, do NOT miss this jewel of a little theater. We just happened to go to The Music Man because we were nearby for the evening and we were blown away. Superb acting talent, fantastic choreography, and the voices were astounding. Big city quality in a smaller town. Heartily recommended.
What a raucous production! It was soo full of comedy, satire, and all the crazy references to other productions. Small bathroom however. Definitely recommend!
Took the family to a snow white panto. What a cute show! Made me feel like i was at Disneyworld!
This is such a fun place to go with your family! Ive done theatre here, and the casts become second families!
What an exceptional group of performers. You could tell they loved what they were doing and enjoyed each other. Had a wonderful time!
Nice little theater, friendly people, went to a play yesterday, kids were brilliant.
Never been to a performance at the Ziegfeld. Im going tonight to see the greatest musical ever written. I just finished a 21 year project. Its an animated musical called The Magic Crystal. I hope one day it will be performed at the Ziegfeld. Ogden Utah is the most beautiful and interesting town in the whole world. I grew up in Ogden in the 50s, 60s and 70s. Red Light Ally and the Opium Dens are gone, but 25th Street is still rocks on. The Performing Arts are still very much alive and well in my rocky mountain town. Snow Basin remains the greatest place to ski in the west. The Rocky Mountains over look this marvelous little town. The Magic Crystal is a tale about Love and Hope. The Music is fantastic and the message is spot on. Im looking forward to watching the amazing talent that lives and works in Ogden perform my musical at the Ziegfeld Theater. Thanks Dave.
Saw one of the youth productions of Aladdin. My kids loved it. They have some sketchy pillows/cushions in the back, if you want to use them... I thought that was interesting...
I enjoy it every time I go. The staff is friendly, owners are awesome, and I leave laughing every time.
AMAZING!!! Community Theater that feels professional. The Ziegfeld Theater has a warm family tone and also has a place for adults in their shows. I love them so much
Went to see Cabaret in June 2017. The show was pretty good. Simple, but effective set, good costumes, effective choreography for the space, and the performances were uniformly good. Not all characters had the expected or traditional body types, but good for them for casting talent rather than look. My one complaint - it was hot as a dickens inside which made it hard to stay alert and focussed for a 2-1/2 hour show. At intermission, we sought relief outside - it was hard to go back in for the second act! Glad we did though, the show was good.
Mama Mia was so awesome they did an amazing job.
I went to see the Adams family and I had an absolutely wonderful time. Very talented cast and crew.
Loved Rocky Horror
The Zig is great! High quality off Broadway shows. We have gone to about every show since they have opened. Always look forward to seeing the shows! Very well priced and you and get season passes or become members. Highly recommend!
Down to earth kind of place, always quite amazing line up of actor/actresses. The season line up has normal Disney crowd pleasers, the real edgy plays come far and few in between. Pulitzer winning play Next to Normal addresses seemingly normal lives that deal with heavier life issues, not much different from the pill popping culture America is today. It has a way to go compared to San Fran Art theaters, (theaters need to challenge minds, )but is a little gem of a place.
Absolutely fantastic! Productions and costumes are outstanding. Going to a play at Ziegfields is so much better than going to a huge theatre where you cannot see or hear the production. This is a more intimate theatre where everyone has a great seat.
I cannot even put this theater into words. It is just amazing. The main stage shows are awesome. The theater is run by Morgan and Caleb and they do a really good job. If you want to start theater, go to the Zig. Heidi is also a great helper too. They also have a kids program, if your children want a chance to follow their dreams of becoming a Broadway star, or a voice actor. Kristin runs it and no one is as good as a director as her for the kid program. The zig also has amazing choreographers. In the past few weeks, the Ziegfeld theater started Mamma Mia. It was phenomenal. The actors are really going places. This theater compares well with Hale even though it’s a small community theater. Of course it’s not as big as Hale but in my opinion Ziegfeld’s actors are 10x better. If you live far from the zig, but your thinking about coming to see shows at the zig, please do it. I saw another comment on here saying the theater is very inappropriate and not family friendly, but that person is completely wrong. Ziegfeld has adult shows if you wanna do a date night, and the zig has family friendly shows. In the next few years, if zig gets the chance to upgrade their theater, this will be one of the best theaters in Utah. The Ziegfeld is going places.
Good local troupe
Friendly and welcoming staff. Theater itself was somewhat small, but the atmosphere and plays are awesome!
The Zig is such a fabulous theater! We have been regular patrons since 2013 and every snow weve seen has been absolutely superb! Friendly and helpful staff at the ticket office and concessions, not to mention a fantastic rotating cast of characters! Our home away from home!
Wonderful community theater. Weve seen multiple shows here. Never disappointed.
We have gone to several of the plays at The Zig, and we have never been disappointed. They are far and above the usual community theater because they are so professional. Many of the actors and actresses are from Weber States theater department and are extremely talented. I have no reservations in recommending their productions, and the friendliness and enthusiasm of those involved in this theater just add to the enjoyment. We love The Ziegfeld Theater.
Great small theatre, great shows at a great price!
