A nice museum featuring exhibits for Trains, Cars, Guns, and Cowboy Hats. Also has a restaurant, though I didnt personally dine at it. All four of the museum exhibits are packed full of information and pictures. I can easily recommend this place to kill an easy 2-3 hours of your time in the ogden area.
Great place to take kids! Easy stroller access (just be aware that the indoor train museum has tighter hallways, so huge double strollers *may* not fit). Lots for the kids to see and do. I had a toddler and a baby with me, and it was a great experience! Cant wait to go back.
Union Station is awesome! One single museum admission ticket grants access to the railroad museum, a vintage car collection (which is stunning) and to the Browning Firearms museum. Every exhibit showcases things local to Ogden a d unique to the region.Outside, the beautiful station makes for an excellent backdrop to photos or if your just looking for cool old architecture too. The large train exhibit is definitely worth a visit too.The train show in early March is such a fun event and fills the entire station on both floors and has something for anyone regardless of age!
Beautiful took my kids to the day of the dead display and it took away a lot of our anxiety that we were having that day and its just wonderful they love the trains and they have good memories there and we cant wait to make more
Great place but was closed. Be nice if they were opened more days and longer time.
Loved the museums at Union Station. The classic car museum was our favorite. It was great seeing the history of trains, guns, the west, and of the automobile. Several of the displays in the train portion werent working (unresponsive buttons) however we still had a lot of fun. Even our little eight month old enjoyed looking at everything and seeing the little train zip around.
The Trains outside are spectacular, The train museum is wonderful and informative. The trains and maps are so col, and the miniature towns the trains go by, train stations. Having miniature big Boy on display with History made my all my stories come alive my Grandpa told everyone about jumping huge steam trains come alive. I love the rifle museum. Guns are my children’s being related to Winchester, and my husband aunt marred Val Browning. My granddaughters name is Phoebe Ann and that is Annie Oakleys Birth name. My Dad and Daughter were in Army so they had handled some stillest piece . I also believe in the right to Bear Arms! What a Beautiful awesome display to be so proud of.
Excellent Browning gun museum. The other museums here are also interesting.
If you love trains, you will love this museum... onside and outside. the exhibits are a step back in time, and the volunteers and workers are very helpful. The antique cars are an added perk. Union Station, also known as Ogden Union Station, is a train station in Ogden, Utah, at the west end of Historic 25th Street, just south of the Ogden Intermodal Transit Center. Formerly the junction of the Union Pacific and Central Pacific Railroads, its name reflects the common appellation of train stations whose tracks and facilities are shared by railway companies
I cant wait for the proposed redevelopment and hopefully a new Ogden Twilight Series behind the Station on the old railroad tracks. Wall Avenue will go under 25th in a beautiful allowance of the completion of 25th Street (Two-Bit Street) to officially connect with this beautiful Spanish Revival structure (?). Love the new restaurant and hoping they update the museums, too. Then, amble on up 25th and enjoy a wonderful pedestrian shopping and dining experience that really brings back great memories of the good old days.
This place is fantastic. They have all sorts of great trains, cool historical displays, they have THE Golden Spike. A great model railroad, and a cool car museum. Oh dont forget about the Browning gun museum as well!
First the place is a warm place to be on the winter. In the main lobby dont forget to look up and appreciate the awesome beams. The trains are great to walk near and the placards are informative. There is History channel video that plays...it kept my attention and was informative about the cross continental railroad.Dont forget to look at the antique car section.
We enjoyed the train museum and the Browning museum. The locomotive are stunning!
We had a wonderful time with my family. We took the tour of the railroad station, the auto museum, and the Browning gun Museum all of this for $5 a person! They also had a lot of old cowboy/cowgirl memorabilia too. What suprised me the most was how much the Mormon church and Blacks we involved in the railroad. Very informative for my family and me. We were there for a little over 3 hours and had a blast. The railroad cars outside were pretty amazing and made great photos. Everyone there was very helpful, knowledgeable, and answered all of our questions. So glad we went and would go again the next time we visit Utah.Forgive my photos, Im no photographer
The family enjoyed walking the Union station and visiting the four small museums there. We went to the train yard last. The scale of these trains cannot be appreciated until you are standing next to them.
An Ogden Must! So much history and great museums. Great vibe. Great wedding and event venue. Dances and arts festivals, local artisan markets and festivals, etc.! Plus I think Nurture the Creative Mind has a studio/gallery there.
Loved looking back at history, just wished that there some train cars that you could look inside to feel the past.
I recently was Al Greens Union Station for the Golden Spike 150th anniversary Heritage Festival and it was awesome as usual.Their museums are worth checking out as well as the art & architecture.
Train museum is Wednesday thru Saturdays at the moment. Nice place though.
Great museums and very friendly staff. The railroad museum was fantastic and Robert, the conductor/docent gave us a personal tour as he unlocked the mail car and hospital cars outside. The John Moses Browning museum was tremendous and I highly recommend it! We may be speaking German here in the USA if not for his brilliant in inventions that changed the world. The car museum was great too! Awesome old cars in there that you dont see at all any more. They have a family pass for 4, it only cost $20 total for all the museums!
We went to the museum because we could get in free with our Dinosaur Park pass. Im glad we didnt have to pay for the entrance. It wasnt a huge impression. Some of it was fun for the kids, but I cant imagine returning to visit again. It was just a one-time thing. And the staff didnt seem too pleased to be there. I think they are retired volunteers that like a quite place to read a book since the place doesnt seem too busy.
They charge full price even when the car museum, children section, and model train sections are closed.Still a cool place to visit, but I would wait until the COVID-19 passes or they discount rates based on closing many sections off.
Nice architecture and well-kept grounds. Lots of fascinating engines and railroad history.P.S. Bunch of good restaurants just east on 25th...
A good afternoon trip. There are 4 museums, a cowboy thats a room with some fun memorabilia, a classic car with about 15 cars, a gun exhibit featuring The guns from Browning, including a short biopic, and, of course, the train museum. Worth the trip, kids will really enjoy it.
Wonderful celebration of the 150th anniversary of the golden spike and the transcontinental railroad.Event was well organized and very well attended.Witnessing first hand, up close and personal the two stream giants, 4014 Big Boy and 844 Living Legend was a singular, once in a lifetime experience. The Ogden street fair was a great collateral event.Congratulations to the organizers and all those involved.
Great place to show kids about the trains history. Had some great facts we didnt know of about.
Food trucks and music on the Friday evening we were there. Very interesting old trains to look at. Really enjoyed it!
Had a wonderful visit at Union Station! Great place to bring the family.
We stumbled upon this museum at the Golden Spike 150th anniversary and we were amazed at all the hidden exhibits here! Despite the small area of the museum, it was really cool to see so many features such as the original golden spike, UP history, priceless one-of-a-kind Cadillacs from the 1930-40s and a massive Browning firearms museum upstairs. Also outside there are many incredible locomotives that are well-maintained and proudly displayed!
Wow! I had no idea how important this Station was in WW2! It is open even with COVID, but no tours.
Really fun place to go with the family. There are lots of trains outside of the historic train station that can be explored. Museum is reasonably priced and contains lots of great artifacts from the heyday of rail travel. Several dioramas with model trains make it fun for kids and adults alike. Also contains a great vintage car display and historical gun collection that shouldnt be missed.
Great walkabout for train buffs. Worth a visit.
Fun museum. The heating works really good, got way too hot in the train gallery. The trains and the history were interesting. The car museum was super cool.
It was once said that You cant get anywhere without going through Ogden! In its hayday, nearly 120 trains per day would stop at Ogdens Union Station carrying business and leisure travelers alike as they made their way across the Country. While the passenger trains have long since stopped, the Union Station has preserved the history and captured stories of the past for you to enjoy.
If youre remotely interested in old-timey train relics, this place is awesome.
Well preserved and a great place to go for your little ones to learn.
What is disappointing is that this is supposed to be a railroad museum. The railroad artifacts they do have are not being maintained, and are really showing so degradation. Equally disappointing is that the artifacts are not displayed in an historically accurate manner. Both of these two issues are exactly what museums are supposed to do, preserve and display artifacts in an historically accurate manner to educate the public.Their gun and automobile (how that relates to railroad history is a bit of a mystery, but shows the state of financial well being for the museum, as well as mission creep) are impressive. One can only assume there is more public interest and grant funding for guns and cars than for trains.Railroad artifacts are being displayed on the ground, not even on rail, parts falling off, vandals have access to the artifacts, there are lack of interpretive information on much of the artifacts, displays not working. What is good about the museum is the price. For $5 USD you can see what poorly maintained history looks like! But it is Utah. People here dont seem to care about history or education. Unless it is tied to the dominant religion in the area and heavily embellished.
Very nice display, I was there while the UP 4014 was in town so it was a little busier than normal, but a nice collection of equipment.
I loved the whole museum but especially the car area. You need a few hours for all of it and I did not have that time :( I plan on going back and spending some hours here. Wonderful place!
If you love trains, and local locomotive history, then this place is pretty cool. Also has a gun museum and a cowboy section
Great atmosphere and nice people with amazing collections!
Always a great experience. If you love trains don’t miss it. Classic car museum has some rare finds also.
The museums were very fun and informative. The frontrunner station is really close and it makes for a fun day trip.
Smaller kids will really like the train portion of the museum. There are several indoor train cars to climb on, a small train table to play, and a cute model train that travels up and down one of the hallways that the kids watched forever. It kept our group of 7 kids occupied for at least 90 minutes. We did tour the other museums as well but the kids were less interested. There are other trains to see outside, but only a handful tucked behind the building are they able to climb on (or at least I didnt see any signs on those ones). Kids really liked that too.
Enjoyed all of the attractions! Browning car museum housed a V16 car. Now thats a little power! Got a chance to see the 2002 torch relay train car and then it was on to the Train Museum itself where miniature trains ran through stations, tunnels and over tresses built with sheer strength of mans power!
Pretty neat place. Was closed when I went but we still enjoyed checking out the trains outside.
The #transcon150 was amazing. This is a must visit historical site with multiple museums and a beautiful down town
5 museums great activity
Awesome museum! They have the trains, cowboy museum, Browning gun museum and antique cars too!
Visited during an event. Very well maintained, friendly staff and beautiful trains!
Beautiful station. I went here to see 4014 for the Spike150 celebration. Cant wait to come here again in the future
Nice building and beautiful locomotives as well
We only ever go when UP shows up with their live steam trains. Definitely a great place to showcase some railroad history with real working locomotives.
Awesome place if youre a train mover, make sure you check out big blow.
Home Of The Utah Railroad Museum, HO Model Train Layout, Vintage Cars, Utah Rodeo Hall Of Fame, & Browning Rifle Gun Collection
Really nicely done. Visitor friendly
Due to a short amount of time, 2 hours, we only got to see the train and Browning gun museums. These were absolute gems with one only ever specimens! Lots of kid friendly displays as well. Highly recommended! Mike did a fantastic job explaining the Browning exhibits and suppling other historical facts!
This was so cool to see. My grandpa lives trains, I wish he could have been here with me.
In a bit of a transition at the moment, but well worth the visit!
Its a great way to start or end your historic walk down main Street. Great fun for kids and photo ops.
I went to an African American railroad experience. We toured the museum and it was great. Also very clean
Its a really great place if u want to go learn some things or if u just want to go have fun
Great place to learned about trains and Browning guns.
Maple Gardens Restaurant is getting ready to open in the Union Station. Good food.
Was there for Heritage Festival awesomeness!
This place is great to visit. They also had a Union Pacific experience train you could go on. Several museums you could visit with a single admission.
So fun to see the big boy. Well be back to see what is normally there.
Very nice displays...
I must have visited during the best event 150 Spike. I got to see and tour the Big Boy historical train. The museum its self is amazing, with fascinating History. Its a must visit for all ages.
This place was amazing. If you love trains -- you need to go. They have some old trains from when it was a working rail station back in the day. They have different displays at different times of the year. Call them and find out what they have. Its a beautiful old building full of photos -- so just go and look around the station. It does cost to get in. I forget how much do go online or call them. You will really enjoy it.
The kids love seeing the trains. Its right next to a lot of shops and restaurants downtown.
Nice museum. Interesting history inside. Great display of trains outside. Very affordable
Fantastic railroad museum with a great collection or rare equipment.
Cool place... interesting collection of railyard memorabilia
It was fun to see the Big Boy! But going there on other days, its too expensive.
Great fun, the kids loved it. Totally recommended. Dont eat at the Chinese Cafe in there, frozen food and bad service.
Great place to visit.
One of the best museums Ive seen for a smaller museum. Trains, firearms, cars, and cowboys! What more could you ask for. It has a great collection of Browning fire arms and the history behind them. They have a very cool model railroad that depicts the trials of building our national system we still use today. They also have an impressive outside area of locomotives. A small room of Brownings private auto collection and a room of cowboy related items. For the small entrance fee its a great way to spend 2 to 3 hours.
Tiny and small trains collections but still worth to spend time visit.
First time riding a train. Went to discovery gateway with greenwood charter school. Easy to get on and off. Kids loved the train. Staff was very friendly. We all enjoyed it.
Lots of really cool trains, cars, and guns. Plenty of things to look at, and a small play place to keep kids entertained. That, and every Wednesday night they have an organised dance thats a lot of fun to attend.
A very beautiful and historic building.
Fabulous place! Highly recommend! Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for teens and $3 for kids. You get to experience 4 museums. My faves were the railroad museum and the car museum. The gun museum is pretry cool too, I imagine more enjoyable for someone that is interested in the history of guns. The cowboy museum is really small, but not a deal breaker. Love this place. Please visit it!
Stopped in for the 150th anniversary of the Golden Spike. There is a neat museum as well as old retired engines and cars on display.Fun stop for anyone with a fondness or interest in the railroad and its history to the area, and country.
The kids had a lot of fun walking through this museum. It was however extremely busy and has super thin hallways so it is not at all stroller friendly. Be prepared to chase your children around. It seemed fairly clean and had a small to moderate amount of content. Expect 30 minutes to an hour depending on your interest.
Wanted to go to maple gardens. Excited for the reopening. Stood around in doorway. Finally got attention of server who said we need to wait to be seated. Waited another 5 minutes. Owner came out..very curt. Said short handed running out of food so have to cook as they go so will take awhile. We left. May try back when they have been open awhile and see if service is any better.
The Museum has four well set up categories Cars, Guns, The Old West, and Trains. The Browning pistol and riffle guns. The Old West displays cowboys their tools, equipment, fashion, & Trains had the Golden Spike where the East connected to the West creating the first Transcontinental Railway. There is a Art Gallery that features some of the local talent and you could purchase.
Very nice depot. Wonderful job documenting the rail progression in UT. My husband also likes the automobile section
Smaller than expected but a fun few hours for anyone who likes trains, guns, cars, or history of the west.
An awesome cultural experience. Love the Browning firearms museum.
Enjoyed seeing the old trains today, so much history! Here are a few people who were part of the festivities of the day.
4 museums included in admission: train, cowboy, Browning, and antique cars.
Its not a big museum but you can spend and hour or two. There are some good exhibits around the history of trains as well as some around the promontory point meeting of the transcontinental railroad. The traibs outside ar a bit disappointing as you cant climb on or look in them, you can only admire them from the ground. Woyld be nice to get a closer look. There is also the Browning firearms museum in the same building if you are interested. Make sure to look up in the station, the wooden beams across the building ate magnificent.
