Nice facility. The rental hockey skates were dull though and it made corners slippery. Wifes and daughters figure skates were good though. Dress warm it is cold in there. Gloves and sweaters recommended. We will be going back. Cost 13.50 per person with skate rental on Tues between 7-8:30. Metered parking on the street if you can find it (till 6pm). Also parking lot just down the road, but it has a 4 hour min at $4/hr.

So much fun! Great concept and great execution. I havent roller skated in over 20 years so I was a little hesitant at first, but it was so much fun. I wish it stayed open later though and I wish there was a dedicated fast lane for the experienced show offs haha.

Friendly and helpful front desk staff. Paid parking only. Public sessions during midday are almost empty, which could benefit figure skaters. We normally dont really need the freestyle or care about ice cut being on time but they are always on time. It also home rink to great coaches. Our favorite, the famous coach Laura Lepenski is here.

Had a fantastic time at the beginner curling class. The instructors were very patient and helpful. We went from zero knowledge aside from TV viewing to successful stone throws down the ice. After the training session was over the instructors even accompanied us to a bar nearby (Make Westing) for celebratory drinks. I highly recommend the curling classes for anyone that is interested in a fun, new hobby.

Great place to skate. However, the beginners class is not very beginner-friendly - I would strongly recommend you to at least know how to skate well before starting the classes.Inexpensive, good rink. Can be a lot of people though, especially young children practicing and their parents all waiting outside. However, it is definitely tolerable.

Always a great time to be had here!! I love that they have the snacks and warm drinks and when it’s not peak season it is super easy to get in and skate with ease. I believe they prorate prices as time dwindles down on public skate but don’t quote me on that, I was a little confused about the pricing. Regardless, I love the Oakland Ice Center and my kids have a blast every time we come :)

Reviewing skating lessons. 20 kids and 4 teachers . Sounds good, right? Two women stood around talking 75% of the time, one guy mainly just did twirls around the kids. About 20 minutes of actual lesson then the rest of the hour was basically a kids version of public skate: teacher using a bubble wand to blow bubbles over the chaos. Not really worth the $200 or me rushing after work to get over here, deal with parking, and then sit here for an hour. Maybe half hour or teachers who want to pay attention to the kids. My two cents.

11/17/2018 took my three Children here around 7:15 PM. While my kids were ice skating, I was watching their shoes under the bench in front of the candy machines.Sitting on the same bench, while watching something on my phone, a teenage girl sat down on the other end of the bench and blurted out Im looking for my shoes. Another teen girl sat down next to me as I continue to be on my phone. Not one minute later I look down under the bench and one of the shoe is missing already. I immediately got up and look behind the bench, the girl next to me took off and I found the other shoe next to the girl at the other end of the bench. I checked around if they are with other people. I didnt want to ruin the night with my kids so I didnt create a scene. I called the front desk to explain what happened and to give them some description of the thieves. Because those kids are still inside looking for what to steal next. But when my call was transfered to a supervisor, he didnt sound very helpful and he seems like he is just listening on a complain. I just simply want to report what just happened and warn them that those two girls are still inside.I wish they review this incident in their security camera. Happened around 740PM on 11/17, the bench in front of the candy machines.

The Oakland Ice Rink is a wonderful place! The classes are taught by professional skaters and are reasonably priced. You can just hang out in public sessions, or learn hockey and figure skating in classes. There is space for everyone, adults or kids! A small cafe inside serves snacks and some quick bites like hot dogs, Mac n Cheese, pizza, and the quality is usually okay.

I like the facility but staff and the Directors are lacking in customer service. My daughter signed up for lessons, we didnt get put in class until the last 5 minutes of the lesson but still got charged for it anyway. I raised the issue and was advised to talk to the Director David Hicks. He simply shredded his shoulders and gave me a too bad attitude, not even a verbal response. Very bad attitude.

As far as ice rinks go, this one is very well run generally, with most of the important amenities youd want - a shop, concession stand, plenty of bathrooms, etc. My few minor gripes are the hours of the shop (if I need my skates sharpened before a late game) and the locker room cleanliness. Its not unusual to have multiple puddles of water sitting around in there and smelling super musty.

Went to the rink for the first time today for a birthday party. Since Ive never been to a ice rink before I can only say everyone was having fun and the party had rink helpers for the kids who had never skated before. It is a very large rink and was not overly crowded. There was room for beginners and some obviously advanced skaters. The party area is nicely done with murals. Only thing I would tell you is if you are a watcher it is cold so do wear a jacket. Also gloves for the skaters is a good idea. We plan to go back.

The Oakland ice skating center has always been one of my favorite place to go to. They have happy hours on Friday where skate rentals and admission is $15. you skate from 7 till 9.The staff there are really friendly. One of my friends couldnt find the right skates size and had to keep going back to return and try a new shoes and the staff didnt mind at all to help her find the right size.Overall we all had a really good experience. There were some people there but it was not crowded. All the inexperienced skaters are holding onto each other and two sides, and all the people who are more experienced and trying out tricks or more in the middle. The ice was very smooth, which is great!!

Since Oakland Ice Center is the only rink in the area than it automatically makes OIC the best around. With that caveat, I enjoy skating there. The ice is well maintained and with two rinks there is always public skating. There is a small snack bar and a shop with a decent selection of skate gear. Also, even on busy days theres always parking close by.

I started playing hockey at 43 (now 46) and needed to work on the basics. There is a really good adult hockey class offered on Thursdays and Sundays which is exactly what I needed. The staff here is pretty helpful and friendly. My only complaint is that there needs to be a better system for reserving bday parties here. I would definitely come back to visit.

They should clean the ice every hr but they only do it if it is busy. I fell pretty bad there and the ice was not cleaned I feel that could have been all avoid it and it wouldnt been so bad if they cleaned the ice. You get a 2 hr ice skate session but if it slow they only clean in the beginning of the 2 hr session and the end. Even if there are not alot of people on the ice the ice is being ran over again for different people that are going different speeds and that can really make the ice have lines in it plus it can be more choppy with the ice shaving that can be very dangerous expecal with you have alot of beginners on the ice with not alot of experience.

We went here as a group to try curling and had a great experience! The curling is run really well. We had a reservation for our group and showed up with signed permission slips, but you can do that at the center, too. They talk about the history, teach form, and then you have a go at a proper match. Its all run by the curling club and they have clearly thought through the process enough to have it down pat.The rest of the center is clean. Lots of kids and families, as youd imagine, and standard snack bar food.
