Went there to see Mod Sun had a amazing time. Show was on second floor which gave it a more intimate feeling. Cant wait for him to come back and play again.1. I Highly recommend seeing Mod Sun.2. Would definitely go back to the Complex again. It was centrally located to restaurants, and other useful buisness.

You ready to party? You want to party like never before? Definitely head to Complex. I would say there is not much diversity there because it’s full of people my skin tone (black people). If that’s what you are looking for then I would highly recommend. However, if you are looking for more diversity, I would suggest finding a place in San Francisco instead.

I would like to echo Jade. I felt like this place was a bit of a health hazard the way it was so enclosed and seemingly only one way in and out. It was extremely hot and the $20 cover to see Mario was not worth my time. So about Mario, I used to really appreciate him and his odes to love when I was a youth. But tonight during his performance he decided to open his out and spread prejudice talking about his preference for lightskinned/redbone women. Im sorry I didnt pay $20 and wait 2hrs to hear him talk, so Im like what. Then, he precedes to call the lightskinned women up on the stage to dance around him. I was surprised that being in Oakland that the organizers of the club didnt stop that mess. Here is a picture. Mario disappointed and I wont be going to Complex anytime soon.

Come on down to Chocolate Sundaes for some great stand-up comedy. The last 2 shows have been hilarious. I cant wait till the March 28th show.

Always a good time and good energy. Never had any problems here. Multiple rooms in the venue for different performances. Good food. Great security.

Paint night was fun. They also had a photo booth. But they didnt really have directions nor were the outline to paint the best. But over all good.

I like the two floor option and smoking area. Overpriced drinks. Good music, basic vibe. A good last minute night club. Closes at 2am, so you might as well just go to Karibbean nights...they close at 4am.

Its a nice venue, but they aLwAyS pack it to full capacity, & theres NO air conditioning. Theres NOT enough fans to cool off. My entire group & I were soaking wet with sweat due to the lack of proper ventilation. One of the girls left before the performer got up on stage because it was SO HOT she felt like she was going to pass out. The crowd control is very disappointing. I almost got pushed down the stairs from 3 flights up.

It was my first time and I really had a good time ringing in the New Year. The vibe and people were super cool!.

Loved the event but venue was not kept and bathrooms were so dirty I couldnt even use them... between the smell and the wet floors and mess on the ground it was borderline hazardous.

Great venue. Through a birthday party here. It was the most affordable option. DJ was lit. Crowd was live. Our waitress was really cool. It was packed on Halloween night. Ive also attended other events there and its always fun. Only problem is parking sucks downtown. Use ride sharing if you can.

I’ve never been to a place where smoking indoor was allowed not enough bars make for a really long line at the bar and cannot even enjoy the the purpose of going to a night club which is dancing. I can forgive the indoor smoking but having to spend over 30 minutes at the bar line is ridiculous.

Just ate at Trap Kitchen. The Big Boy Plate. Seafood sampler. All I can say is Lord, bless the trap.

It was hot, stuffy and someone passed out do to the no circulation and it being very hot.The entertainment was on point 100%.Ms. Victoria reminded me of Yolanda Adams. Ms Victoria is amazing with her own hit. I would love to get a copy of her songs.Shout out to the hostess and host, 100% black married couple.

Complex Oakland is a great venue, very popular in Oakland. Hosts some of the best parties

This is a cool spot to hang out if you like hard rnb/rap/hip hop but you must be aware of the audience going there. I enjoyed my time but it’s not for everybody. When I stood in line, I had a taste of what kind of people were going in, cause the people in line infront of me and behind me were faded and rude. Security/doorpeople were SO KIND!!!!!!!! So professional!! There is no dresscode. People really come to have fun and dance and smoke. I did not feel insecure or unsafe. I felt ok at all times. I give it 3 stars because there were no strict rules about smoking inside also because toilets were really dirty.

I came here for the R and B paint night. It was an enjoyable event. The stairs are a workout as they are very steep. Once you get past that there is a makeshift bar area. I would have liked if they had a tap or even a wider selection of beers, but it was alright. The even itself was good although I would have liked just a little bit more room to maneuver as we were painting. All in all it was good.

I went to eat at Trap Kitchen and had an awful experience. The customer service was horrible and the tables were all sticky and dirty and the food was over spiced. I give this place a thumbs down.

Great sound system and space to dance.

The security can be so rude, and very argumentative. You can not ask a question because they get defensive. I understand that its a business but youre still supposed to be polite to the people visiting your establishment.

We went about a month ago for RnB and paint and we had a lot of fun, the lines werent too long but they did start late. They served us wine and cocktails which we had to pay for Although I think due to the fact that they were so late they should have gave everyone in line a complimentary 1st drink. It was supposed to start at 2pm but they didnt open the lines up until about 2:30pm. Other than that it was a good experience. Id definitely go back and try trap n paint next time.

Great venue. Not to big, not too small, just the right Goldilocks size to get nice sound and a great view. Probably the only thing Im not keen on is having to nudge my way to the ladies room when its packed and hopping.

Went to a silent party here foe Hiero day. Aside from it being hot the venue was cool. Get there eaely to park or take a Lyft. They just need more variety in beer.

I like this venue, because all if the best functions happen there. I just went to Trap Art and it was hella lit! Also, they have bunch of different artist like Trina, and Kash Doll come through to preform. The only downside is that it be hot af all the time. They really need to invest in better ventilation!

We waited until almost 1am before the artist finally arrived. I love how this place gives stage time to a lot of the local artist. Its old, small, dated and the drinks arent cheap but you do get to see your artist up close and personal.

Concept (silent party) was great. Venue was intimate and well kept..HOWEVER...it was grossly overbooked which made it cramped and hot. Ticketed and non-ticket customers were not separated which made getting in a nightmare. Overall it put a damper on my first silent party, but the Complex itself was a nice place. I would return under different circumstances.

Wished the elevator had worked, but it was a very hot day. Enjoyed none the less.

So very random and diverse the different spaces All in one building. Theres a coffeehouse, sports bar, and music venue! Photographers dream because of the various backdrops: rooftop, ballroom, etc (book via peerspace)

I like the Venue. Only complaint the elevator wasnt working!! 3 long flights of stairs for this not so young lady was too much for me!! Once I got into the main floor the security guard made sure my sister and I had chairs. Thank you. Jussie Smollett was excellent! All others also!!

If you’re an artist do not book here, the staff are extremely rude to customers. I bought tickets to see Citygirls and still had to wait a hour in the cold to get in, to only see the venue was not packed at all. The security guard cursed and yelled at me for no reason. Once I got to the front I seen the person in charge of the event tell the security guards to hold the line when it was about 40 degrees outside and the venue wasn’t packed. This establishment lacks professionalism and poor customer service. Save yourself the money and headache and see your favorite artist somewhere else.

Nooo do not go here unless you are 15 or younger. This was not cool this is not a concert this is a club for youngins. I wasted my money drinks are waaaay over priced. I thought i was paying to see Nef the Pharoah but i guess multiple local artists were meant to perform. Either way i didn’t see anyone perform i left after about 30mins. The doors opened at 8 but they made us stand in the rain for 30mins. Wow. I came from outta town to see this...

This place is a total scam and BLACK PARTYGOERS BEWARE! This is not traditional Oaktown partying. This is a gentrified experience w/young rich Asian & Latinx kids jumping around stepping on u wasting drinks all over and challenging your damn patience. Been there twice for shows. First time was downstairs & they had local performances & advertised the headliner, local celebrity Clyde Carson. No air conditioning, terrible host & the main artist hadnt come on as of 30 min till closing. We left - we heard Carson did 1 or 2 songs at very end. Second time we climbed about 40 stairs to the 3rd floor to see T-Pain performing for the 1st time in Oakland. Thats what the flier said. They crammed about 400 ppl in one room w/3 ceilings fans. No air conditioning, no windows and one small bar w/one person working. Yet again, the artists didnt come on till almost the end, only to announce there was a miscommunication. T-pain was only going to DJ - not perform. Wow. Were all done with that place. I wont be tricked or stepped on by ignorant high ass rich kids again. Its very fraudulent & they should be closed down for not having AC w/400 possible people in the summer. Someone is gonna have a heat stroke, fall threw the floor or get crushed in a stampede of anything ever happens.

I was not impressed with chef smellys... Food looks ok online but lacks in flavor. Its very one note. I still cant believe I stood in line for an hour too wait to eat for an hour, for blah food...basic not very flavorful the price of 40 with tax for lobster fries with a bechamel cheese sauce that was weird not cheesy and soaked my fries until they were wet and lobster with no flavor just.warmed then piled on top...

First time here to see my fav....Andre Nickatina!!!!! LOVED him, the venue was a little weird for my taste, after getting hand stamped and inside was not allowed to leave (to smoke) until a long while and that I found was irritating, was told to go to 2nd floor to smoke, once there had to go to the back of the restaurant to the porch area which was very small and crowded, also had to wait extra long amount of time before the main guest appeared on stage and while waiting tried to buy some beverages and the bar was sold out of EVERYTHING which was awful service...was hot inside with no air conditioning and without being able to buy andthing not even bottled water to quench our thirst was too much and we ended up leaving before the show was over.

Went here for a Silent Night event where people use headphones to listen to music to dance. I liked the music but I couldnt stand being in here for more than 20 minutes. It was too hot in there. If AC was on in it was probably broken. Headphones seemed unsanitary btw because the people there didnt wipe them down or anything before giving it to the next group of people waiting in line. Oh the line for this event there sucked too. Ordered tickets online but had to wait more than an hour just to get in. Dont know exactly what was the point in buying pre-order tickets if you have to wait in line like everyone else. Should have had separate lines for pre-order tickets and buying tickets on the spot.

Nothing special to write home about. Tons of stairs upon entrance a few seats available plenty of standing room and a shallow ghetto bar. Dirty smelly bathrooms.
